the highest price ive seen this sold for in Ramuh is 58-60k a stack! too expensive. but I farm all my sheep leather. it doesn't say here on allakhazam but you can desynth bronze mittens n get sheep leather as well. I'm thinkin usualy when u desynth brass mittens u get a brass ingot.

I think that all the people who keep "Boo-hoo-in" should stop looking at AH prices, and start farming what you need to synth. THATS HOW SE WANTED IT TO BE. It doesn't take too much effort to lvl thf to at least 30 and start farming skins for a while. Take some dark crystals, Distilled waters, and tea leaves and synth on site. It's a good money maker and is worth the time.
The Clothcraft guild recipes say that the the Leather vest desynthesis caps at 9. I was at 9.0 and just got a 0.2 skillup desynthing a Leather vest. It's hard to judge what really caused the skillup, since you can desynth to 1 x Sheep leather on a regular desynth and HQ 2-3 Sheep leather or 1 x Lizard skin.
By the way, I started desynthing Leather vests at 7. I purchased a cheap painting for a Moghancement: Desynthesis and I've been quite successful. I would say I have a successful desynth for every lightning crystal. I usually fail three times then have an HQ desynth resulting in 2-3 Sheep leather. For me, it's been cheaper desynthing the vests than it has been purchasing the Sheep leather stacks [20k on Phoenix].
Wow, no post in a long time. Still, this is a money maker: 9-10k for dark crystals, < 1k for Tea leaves, and ~240 for water. So farm skins and max cost is 12k. Stacks sell for roughly 30-35k now. ~18k profit? Yes, please.

Dark Distilled Water ,i dont remember but i think 20 X 12 = 240. Sheepskin x1 ,133 in tunning Guild X 12 =1539 Windurst Tea Leaves x1 , 800 for stack in AH
so total 2800 + 6000 for Dark cluster = 8800 max and you can sell a stack for 15-22k and you make profit of 6-13k
good as a start up. even when you get to liz cesti you can make these and sell them back and get liz skin . and that also up until lvl 17

For leather crafters, this is your basic ingredient. It costs 1,000 alone, almost always, 13000-17000 a stack. If your poor, don't bother with leather craft. Anyways, this is vital until craft level 17, at this point you start using Dhamel Leather/Hides and that replaces this. These are very expensive, so if you see them for sale cheap, don't hesitate to invest.

agreed...this job is crazy expensive to just begin off with. I just try to desythensize leather armors for sheep leather but it breaks too often so I lose profit instead of buying it 16k a stack. Cooking is so much cheaper.

Desynthing is not good for skilling up, it will fail alot more than regular synthesizing and rarely skills up. Its best to save desynthing till your a much higher level than the item.
Desynths are not comparable to normal synths, although you can get skill-ups from them.
You HAVE to desynth on lightningsday or darksday, and don't even try doing it on earthsday.

Turns out it's goldsmithing desynth not smithing -_- Much to my surprise. I was wandering why with smithing of 25 it kept failing. Then one succeeded and lo and behold "Goldsmithing SKill increases 0.1" cause it was at 7 at the time
Just because it only said that your goldsmithing skill went up it didn't mean that it only used that skill. When I would make some armor with this it would sometimes say that goldsmithing went up, others leathercraft. There are always many skills that relate to each other whether they should or not.
I was in giddeus camping torrent and desynthing beads with lightning. I got a pair of "ash clogs" and was able to desynth one with lightning into a sheep leather on watersday. The graphics makes it look like HQ. Leather is 1, and wood is 21. No skill ups.
Are you joking? You can't start including all teh desynthing recipes, too... there are a TON of recipes to produce this from simple desynthing! Anything that includes this in its synthing recipe can be desynthed with the possibility of procuring it. Many low-level smithing items, for example...
Why not? The de-synth recipe is a part of the item involved. It belongs here. All of them. What is your concern? Gil? Most de-synth's cost MORE to do than the synth. I NEVER de-synth Masks. I make more money selling them at AH. So. Keep up the good work, people. Information is the power to kill inflation. I don't Leathercraft because it is TOO expensive to start out. There are no SE checks to the rampant greed of players overpricing sheep hides and dark crystals. Granted skin is a rare drop and the only way to efficiently get it is THF or BLM AoE nukes, or any Hi-level train killer, but it is impossible to Tan as a lo-level adventurer. 7k a stak for leather? HAH. Then you wonder why all other leather goods inflate on your server. At least I can garden Saruta Cotton. At least I can buy Copper Ore at a DECENT supply rate at the guildhalls. Not the best but I can practise smithing at a cheaper rate.

Oh i forgot to mention, for some reason I had better luck after I was able to make cesti's on a constant basis. My theroy is if your skill is good enough to make cesti's it should be just as easy to take them apart back to its ingredients. Also I noticed on lightning day I usually get more sheep leathers and sometimes 2x. Let me know some of your personal results.

OK, We *all* know the Gob Mask+Wind Crystal thing works, It *IS* a real recipe whether you believe it or not. IF you are low lvl and want to make Sheep leather with this recipe, do a few things first. At lvl 0, advanced image support may be a good idea (30 gil) and for those who dont know about advanced image support 1 of the 3 healper people gives it, And make sure to do this on "Windsday" I REPEAT, "WINDSDAY"! Correction: Iceday is worst for wind synth. Windsday is logically the best day for wind synth, but the worst day for earth synth.
Fire melts ice, ice blocks wind (ice being harder than earth), wind tears earth, earth grounds lighting, lightning err.. cant remember, but something water, water puts out fire.
Dark and light are special.. since darkness is really just the lack of light and thus the same thing, dark synth is easier on darksday and light synth easier on lightsday, but dark synth is not harder on lightsday than say.. firesday.
Commit to memory, or, failing that, tatoo it to the inside of your eyelid ;)
First off, like kahlyn stated, if you were able to synthesize at all, the recipe is correct. Also, he's right about synthesis days (same goes for gardening, days affect results). See this link for Days of week that are best for your synthesis: . Type /clock to check day of week ingame.
I would say the easier choice is definitely:
DARK CRYSTAL - 200-350 gil (or free with drop) 1x Clump of Windurst Tea Leaves - 50 gil (roughly 500 gil/stack, Auction House) OR 1x Willow Log - 200 gil? (I don't use these; they're lots more expensive than Tea Leaves) 1x Distilled Water - 11 gil (144 gil/stack, Buy from grocers or restaurants) 1x Sheep Skin - 150-300 gil (Free if you kill the sheep, Auction House otherwise)
BUT let's also consider the other method:
WIND CRYSTAL - 100 gil (Or free from drop) 1x Goblin Mask - 150-300 gil (Or free from drop)
Which is simpler? Which is cheaper? The latter. Which has been more successful? The former. So knock yourself out, boost some skills. See what works best for you.
Also: Haellow, make yourself Leather armor. The vest requires leather skill 3, trousers 2, gloves 1, bandana & boots = 0. They will probably be cheaper to buy, but if you're looking to boost leather skills, make 'em.
I tried it just yesterday and it worked just fine and I have 0, nada, nothing in leathercraft. Maybe your where on an unlucky streak, pretty bad one at that too.
You can still do this (Synth Sheep Leather from Wind + Goblin Masks) at 0 lvl Leathercraft Skill. I have done this many times recently (after the last December Patch)- although it seems to fail about 75% of the time at 0 lvl.
Well, he's a future hint - if it lets you attempt to synth, it's a valid recipe. If it's not a valid recipe, the system will tell you "not a valid recipe" or something akin to that. Always check the days of the week (synthing with a wind crystal on Windsday is best and - believe - EarthsDay is worst) and, if you're just starting, get image support.

Wind crystal + goblin mask = 1 sheep leather i also other goblin armor pieces but when i use them with a wind crystal it says my skill isn't high enough. I wonder if they all give sheep leather?
someone pointed out another response, sheep leather is synthesize from sheep skin.
Sheep skin is a random drop off of sheep. I would classify the drop as "uncommon".
It would be difficult for a lvl 5 RDM to solo Sheep. I would suggest a party of 3 minimum. Once you get up to level 8 you should be able to solo sheep.
am new to this synthesize stuff and i want to make me some decent armor for a lvl 6 warrior or at least something close to my lvl, where do you get the sheep skin from, i think it is from the sheep on top of vamp hill but i have not had one drop, probably a uncommon drop, and i have only really killed about 5 or so. also, anyone know of some decent recipe armors for a lvl 5 RDM??
soloable at 35+ mages, dunno bout war or nin and the like.

I was leveling up my beastmaster in southgustaberg, [vomp hill] and had tons of sheep skins I didn't know what to do with.
Sheep leather sells for 30k /stack right now in bastok.
At leatherworking ZERO I made an entire stack, and got about 1.0 in skillups.
Darkcrystal: Windhurstian tea leaf + sheepskin + distilled water
Even if you don't farm the sheepskin, this is a decent money maker on my server.
Darkcrystal = 3k / stack
windhurstian tea leafs: 2k / stack
distilled water = 144gil / stack [from any restraunt / inn]
Sheepskin = under 1k each usually. ~800gil.
So:
12k [skins] + 3k +2k +1k [round up for water]
18k for mats.
30k for stack of leather.
12k profit, no leatherworking skill needed previously.
