Flash gives you time to get stoneskin back up. Just a handy hint.

Usually it does, but in this enm that strategy isn't entirely reliable. Whenever I've tried to flash the fattocini, his blindness usually wears off quicker than i can get any other spell off, especially something long casting like stoneskin. And yeah... capped divine. So I assume it's a function of his white-mage high magic defense.

@ original poster, umm, I'm sorry, but any whm that chooses staff over club for solo hasn't learned what clubs can do...and even melee players know this, you don't use a weapon that isn't your strongest cap wise, staff barely caps high enough @75 to get retribution...230 where as club caps at 250ish plus true strike does a pretty sweet amount of damage to this mob, and because clubs are 1handed you can equip a shield as well, staff *May* be able to hit single strike a bit harder, but their ws seriously suck *** except maybe spirit taker which can't be used in this battle so my advice is cap club and F*ck staff only staff I could consider using in this battle though, is earth staff, simply because it'll enhance stoneskin a bit, and -20% physical damage, AND and yes this is proven, earth staff will increase the power of rock and earth crusher as they are earth elemented attacks, BLM buddy tested it, would do 250+ at 100tp with any other staff, but 400-500+ at 100tp with earth staff equipped...so yeah use a hammer, especially 67+ hexa strike is just brutal ^_^ my best one so far 1704
EDIT: I apoligize if I came off a little rude, I reread your post you said that "what I did was..." I thought you were telling other WHM to build up staff for the enm lol kinda irritated me a bit cause well staves kinda suck imo, lol but yeah sorry if I was a bit rude on my post ^^;

First of all - I want to say what I've seen with the healing bonus.

With light staff, noble's tunic, and my other gear, at lvl 69, my cure IV does 470. With healing feather up, it did ~ 536 ^^

Here is quick rundown of my ENM battle stragegy

**Get staff skill to 190**

Equipment:
Battle Staff
Holy Ampula
Spike Necklace
Dodge Earing x2
Vermillion Cloak
Battle Gloves (I think thats the name - lvl 14, +3 accuracy, +3 evasion)
Astral Ring
Ether Ring
White Cloak +1
Life Belt
Healers Pantaloons
Healers Duckbills

I ate a Jack o'Lantern (great +accuracy & evasion)

Strategy
Walk in. Cast Protect III, Shell III, and Reraise. Rest to full. Cast (in this order) Stoneskin, Blink, Aquaveil. Rest to full. Walk up to where you can see the hume. Eat Jack o'Lantern. Caste Haste. Drink a Yag Drink. Pull hume with Dia II.

Once blink wears, try casting regen II. If you make it, great. If not, do not try casting anything with a long cast time. Keep yourself alive with cures, and use WS every time you hit 100%. Shell crusher is good because it lowers defense for a little while. As soon as yag drink wears, drink another. Just beat him down and cure yourself.
Recharge

Since this thing does enchantment, does that mean it'll recharge itself or no? I'm picky about the enchantment items I get hehe

It comes with 20 charges. When it is out - just do ENM again. The reason I'm doing this ENM is to make my Maat fight easy - I do not plan on using the feather other than that - maybe for emergencies. And, by looking at other posts, I believe if you use a charge, and un-equip - you will loose heal bonus.

Very easy quest, I am 2/2 on it so far. Worst part of it is losing so much gil to the gob trying to get to the battlefield, cost me 32 the first time and 22k the second. Go into fight with max mp gear, cast protect, shell, stoneskin, blink, aquaveil, reraise, etc. Rest to full, haste yourself and cast a spell on him to engage. Even with capped skills I was getting resisted. Once my initial haste, stoneskin, etc wear I do not waste the mp to recast. However make sure you switch to def or other melee type gear once you use up your mp "buffer". Don't be too stingy with Benediction or DS because you could end up getting it back, however don't use it in the beginning just to use it either. gl^^

I'm 5/6 on beating this ENM as WHM and finally got the drop on my 5th victory. I also got Worm Mulch one time.. /joy? Anyway, this is how I do it, and it's pretty easy unless your opponent uses benediction 3 times in one fight.. :P

Food: Meat Chiefkabobs (WHM's gotta love attack food. ;D)
Just-in-case items: Yagudo Drink x2, Hi-Ether x2

I usually get lucky gambling with Twinkbrix. I just bet 5000g, which gives you a 25% chance of winning, and 4/6 times, I've won first try. :)

Once in the battlefield, I run through the tunnel and stop where the tunnel opens up again to do my buffing. Eat my chiefkabob, Reraise (Don't need RR2, since you lose no exp anyway), Protect III, Shell III, Stoneskin, Blink. Then I rest to full MP again. At this point, I'm wearing:

Dark Staff, Holy Ampulla, Vermillion Cloak, Memento Muffler (For VIT+7 enchantment), Geist Earring, Magician's Earring, AF gloves, pants and boots, Powerful Rope, Sapient Cape and Serket+Astral Rings

When MP is full, it's time to fight. I engage the Fantoccini, put on my AF body and hat, my Arcana Breaker and Divine shield, Haste myself, use my Memento Muffler, then change to my Penitent's Rope and Promise Badge. Now I do my enfeebling. Slow first because it's the longest to cast, then Paralyze and Dia II. I try to keep Paralyze and Dia II up for the entire fight, but don't worry about slow because it takes too long to cast and tends to get interrupted. Once the initial enfeebling is done, I switch to my Divine Breastplate, Life Belt, Spike Necklace and Republic Army Mantle. Once I've used up the MP they give, I swap my Serket+Astral Rings for Phalanx Rings. I should get some attack+ earrings to swap with my Geist+Magician's too.. But I never thought of it til now. :p

The rest of the fight is keeping yourself hasted and cured and swinging your hammer. Don't Cure yourself every time you get hit. To conserve MP and casting time, only use Cure IV. I usually wait till I'm around 100 hp and then Divine Seal+Cure IV, then I just use Cure IV for the rest of the fight. Don't bother recasting Stoneskin or Blink when they wear off. Only use them at the start. Use True Strike whenever you can if you have it. I keep my club skill as close to capped as I can, and it's proven worthwhile whenever I have to solo. Besides, I want Hexa Strike when I hit 67. ;D

If I fall below 50% mp and the fight is far from over, I'll use a yagudo drink. I bring 2 drinks and 2 hi-ethers with me now, just so I can out-last the Fantoccini if he gets 3 Benedictions like he did the time I lost. I usually don't even end up using my drinks or ethers, but I bring them just-in-case. :)

If the Fantoccini is almost dead and you have enough MP left, Flash him and use Banishga II. You'll hit the Moblin, and he'll enter the melee, but he'll also stop rolling dice, which means no Benediction. Finish the Fantoccini off with Holy, True Strike.. Whatever you got. Just do it quick. Don't want 2vs1 to last long. ;) When the Fantoccini is dead, the fight is over.

I spend a -lot- of time making money and making sure I have everything a WHM could want, and thus, a lot of equipment-swapping. It's a pain if you're not used to it, but swapping EQ every 2 seconds helps a lot. You don't need everything I have. It's just what I prefer because it works well for me and I can afford it.

I hope this helps all the WHM's looking to do this ENM. I do it once every 5 days for the 2000xp because it's real easy. Good luck. :)

Edit: Got 2 Spike Earrings and did the ENM again last night. Made the fight go a little faster. :)

I've just tested it, when used, it lasts about 5 minutes and you get a "Cure Potency +10%" effect. Might be even a bit higher.. not sure, could be +15%.

All items have an AH category listed, whether they are rare/ex or not. It's just part of the form for new pages.

The item's enchantment is:

"Enchantment: Enhances healing magic"

By how much... I don't know. I'll let you all figure that out. ^^

So maybe it's something along the lines of divine seal, in enchantment form?

From the name, I'd bet curaga, or maybe a high level cure. Good in emergencies. Then again, it's whm only, so could it be an item version of benediction? I doubt it, but hey, could be, since it's rare/ex too.
What does this do?
# Apr 26 2005 at 8:05 PM Rating: Decent
I don't see on here where it says what the charges do. Is there an effect to it?
