Just got this made on Cerberus. Cannot comment on whether or not Smithing is a required sub skill, as my crafter has all sub skills to 60.
However, I must say that this cap is great. I never got O Hat, but at least this cap is salable if I decide I need cash. My end game jobs are PLD and WAR, so this for my war and eventually Homam for my PLD, and I'm set for endgame acc head slot.
Haven't gotten a chance to take it out in a party yet though. Hopefully it won't disappoint.

Can anyone confirm if smithing is actually required?
Some People were born Genius, some people figured it out along the way. I like to think I'm a little bit of both.
Why is this the only piece listed that requires smithing? The real U. Harness recipe doesn't require it, and none of the others do either :S I want this piece the most!

i got this armor, and i must say this is great for DD. Even better then optical hat, because as a DD you don't really need the +10 EVA from the hat. its only got 4 less ACC then the optical hat but in return you get +4 STR.
Its a good trade-off, because WAR's tend to have good ACC.
I can confirm that that latent does not activate when HP is above 65%+. It is infact when HP is above 70%.

Don't forget also the often overlooked fact that Optical Hat has NO defense, while this does. In fact, it has very good defense of 35, tied with Genbu's Kabuto (minus the VIT though), and only beaten by Koenig/Kaiser.
Laten activated by having your HP at around 65% + one it drops below that you lose the +4 str probly one of the better end game caps for war

This Equpiment does not have a horn, its just a cap without a feather, like the Brass/Bronze Cap.
