I can desynth a Fastwater fising rod with a Lightning Crystal at lvl 56 Woodworking into one elm lumber. You do get the wool thread sometimes too. But i fail like once out of every 5. So with the lightning crystal thats about 900 for a piece of lumber that sells individually for about 3500 on Caitsith server. Decent profit.

I'm lvl 60 WW and find I get MUCH better results desynthing with advanced support, and if I do the desynths on Lightningsday or Lightsday.

I'm too lazy (and don't have enough inventory space) to stock a bunch of Moghancement: Desynthesis items, and I'm not willing to give up my Experience-hancement (plus home is Bastok, making a switch pretty tough). Even so, I still get a 60-70% success rate on the staff.

You might try throwing a furnishing with the lightning element on it for Moghancement: Desynthesis. It seems to help with the desynth results. Desynthesis fails alot more than regular synthing, so you might want to be the level of the desynth recipe or maybe higher! ˆˆ

Also, from what I've seen the desythesis skill cap for this item is Woodworking level 31.

People are constantly telling me that desynths get bad success percentages no matter what skill you have. 31 is just the cap for skillups.

Elm lumber can be obtained through a couple of desynths. It's cheaper than buying the elm logs and synthing them. At the current rate on my server, I can buy about 4 of the desynthing items for 1 elm log.
