This has upgrade item info for all the relic weapons, including the shield, along with pictures and stuff.
But, for the shield, it only lists the upgrade items and commission and stuff, doesn't mention anything about a quest...
Hopefully it helps... if it doesn't, I'm only a DRG, so I don't know anything more ^^;

They are trying to sell currency for 50k per single unit and 5mil per 100 unit. Well I guess Relic weapons will become harder to get if you plan on buying currency from these FOOLS.

oh, and just so you know, it isn't "camped" it is a random drop from Dynamis - Jeuno and it can be upgraded with Dynamis Currency and other items to it's final form, Aegis that has the stats of: DEF+40; Enhances "Shield Bash" effect; Magic Damage Taken -25%

It's not the best.. Koeing Shield is still better... it has VIT and Enmity... only way Ageis would be better is if your fighting mobs that use alot of magic.
Well, now that we know more:
The defense on Aegis is through the roof,
It blocks at the size of a buckler (frequently) for a massive amount of damage reduction (I've heard 90%).
It makes shield bash do 200-600 damage with some critical multiplier.
Essentially, a Paladin with Aegis practcially becomes a blink tank, for the most part. Of course, NIN still has some advantages, but a PLD with Aegis can tank almost anything, provided his other gear is good too.

koenig has nothing on the Aegis. the reduction in damage received makes the VIT from koenig unworthy of mention.

Um, maybe because it's the freaking Relic Shield? You can upgrade it to be pretty much the best shield in the game... It's more than worth it.

Well.. If you believe the rumors, there is a better shield yet. The Marge shield is said to drop from an NM in Ro'Maeve believed to spawn once every 100 earth days. Fazasher Death Weapon.

Yea and i'm willing to bet PLD can't use that damn shield either. Probably RDM only seeing as how much SE loves gear for mages. *shakes fist at SE*

The shield to pop the NM is the Hickory Shield, not this one. This is the Relic Shield, which is an upgradable relic armor drop from Dynamis Jeuno

Picked this up in Dynamis Jueno. Someone also said to me that it is used to spawn a NM in Miseroux coast. Not sure of the details behind that though.
Can confirm this drops in Dynamis-Jueno as bout 7 of them dropped for us last night. It was the night of relic weapon and sheild drops last night.

Ive seen a pic of the final upgrade any1 got pics of any other of its upgrades
It should be a kite shield!!! Or a heater! Not some dumb looking targe thats like a foot in diameter! >.< I sure hope that it changes shape as it upgrades....

This turns into the Aegis Shield. The legendary shield held by Athena said to have the head of Medusa placed in the center. Knowing this it may have the ability to petrify the enemy whenever blocking, or Shield Bash is performed among the many of effects it could have being a Relic item.

This is NOT the fully upgraded sheild. Just like weapons you need to upgrade this.
