If anyone bothered to look at Vana'diel Census, it says right there that to get this you need to do Limit Break 5 with 15 different jobs. This isn't what I've heard or think, this was SE telling us this. Just wanted to put that out there.

Actually, theres a quest after beating him 15 times, called Beyond the Sun that opens immediately upon talking to him when you beat him the 15th time.

It's been around since long before the three new jobs were released, and I don't believe you even fight Maat for those three jobs, if they're your first job to hit 70, so probably not.

I have set my new goal to get this cap. I seem not able to participate in alot of end-game things because i can't always play at specific times every specific set day. Alot of people feel this hat is un-attainable. I find it very attainable.
Your average player has 1 LV66+ job already, with at least 2 sub jobs LV30+.
The amount of EXP required to achieve the maat cap is aprox 7.5mil EXP. (exactly 8mil if you start a new char, which you could get maat cap after spending 3.7months hard core leveling 14 hours a day everyday.).
If you spent about 8 hours a day (say 4pm to 12am) about 25 days a week, allowing some days to have a real life each month. You could acheive the maat cap in about 6 months of play. This is not difficult, but it would require you to exp every time you log on, no farming, no question, just solid EXP for 6 months. The game has been out going on 4 years US. I have 5 months left before i feel i could obtain said maat cap. Thats also knowing i can't spend 8 hours a day, and 6 days a week playing. This is based on finding a good PT that yields 6K EXP/hr (some PTs will yield more, some less, but if you hit the average of 6K / hr you'll be on pace for this nice reward soon!)

so after reading this thread, i have drawn the conclusion that people DONT REALLY KNOW how to get the cap unless they, themselves have attained it. i dont know of any characters on Titan who have this item. can someone please just go up and ASK a player who has one if its 7 jobs or 14 jobs (up to Zilart jobs)?

the only reasoning for this is that Aht Urhgan does not really fall under the main/old-world storyline - therefore not relating to Maat, period. all of the new jobs have a separate type of Genkai system.

I am 41, I imagine I'll be retired, myself, b4 I get the blue cap ^ I have four children, but still got a wife (no pun intended there folks, lol).
I know of a player who began about the same time as I did. He levels so fast, that I would not doubt that he has it cap.
Here's a horrifying thought - SE allows characters to level up to 80, but makes Maat's Cap the G6 item. . mwaahhhaahahaha!

You dont need all jobs level 75, just have to beat G5 on all jobs,
so all jobs could be level 66 and you can have a maat's cap... just dont be able to wear it until 4 more levels :P

Actually if you read through his post carefully it seems that he's not insulting anyone for playing this game for hours on end day after day. He's merely stating that if you find something in life that you enjoy and gives you happiness and you spend all your time doing it then you have a life, regardless of what society says about the activity. That's what I gather from the last paragraph of his post.

yeah whats the point in playin if your jobs are all 75? sure u could do a quest or 2, help a few people out.. but then what? you have no aim anymore lvl 75 yay! all levels maxed! now what..?

there's plenty more to do after maxing out the jobs. It does take a lot of time to get every job up to 75 but if you have more time, you can work on getting the relic weapons, or you can finish up the quests or missions if you haven't already. Or you can just wait for the new expansion to come out and buy it. I give anyone who got the maat's cap props b/c it takes a lot of patience and time outta ur life to get it lol. And Maat is hard for 1 job, let alone 15 jobs. But i know what u mean. Plus there's merit points to earn. lol it's crazy how much there is to do on FFXI.

Posted: Jan 18 2006 at 12:07 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ok first off it doesnt matter where you are from japan america canada england w/e the player is only good because s/he chooses to be good so before u say "Japanese" players just work well together SHUT UP it has nothing to do with being japanese. and just cause they have several jobs at higher lvls or even 1 doesnt mean that FFXI is only thang they do and that they have no life it just means they could of bought the char or had several people play the char or they just put several hours a week/month to playing the game and ya SE saying not to let this game stop u from ur real life is stupid as @#%^ seeing as they have NMs that have 18 to 30 hour spawn times quests that take 6 hours to complete such as choco quest and many other thangs in this game that just take hours to complete and now about that cap its got pretty good stats but its lvl requirement isnt all that great and what it takes to get it just make it less worth the while so basicly at this point OHat is GREAT but if ur looken to get this so u can be special i cheering you on. to those who play this game to have fun great thats the point of GAMES and to those who just complain i have but one thang to say to you..... maybe this isnt the game for you. and yes im proly a fricken nerd but hey its a big world someone was bound to be one lol GL to all and lates

Damn.. In order to get this cap these guys have to be incredibly skilled. I comend them for their valliant efforts and hope to get this cap myself. Congrats to all who have, and for those who don't: Keep trying you'll get it someday!!!

Yeah I had never heard of one before than i just randomly checked some dude right outside of jueno in Bahamut server and he was wearing one. I almost fell off my chocobo. I started asking all my friends how to get one and than i learned. LOL. Anyway point of this story is apparently there is at least one guys with Maat's cap on Bahamut server.

Lets everyone take one step back and come to terms with the fact that there were japanesse players playing this game on ps2 over 1 full year before it came out in America. Now lets compound the fact at that point there wasn't level 75, there wasn't even 70... so if u were playing when it came to America 65 was cap. So after adding 1 full year to play time and removing the longest levels in the game, this no longer seems so unbelievable. Also, more then one person can play an account so you can have a life and get this if u have a friend
What the hell is with you people thinking that you can come on here and bust people for playing a game. So what if they play better than you or more than you they are doing something that makes them happy. do we go out to clubs or other places and tell you that your crazy for coming here in hopes of picking up a chick/guy? no cause you do what makes you happy.
I spend a lot of time playing FFXI but i still take time out to go out every once in a while to see a movie or hang with friends. Just because they are high level and have better gear than you doesnt mean you have to knock them down a peg because your insecure about how good you play. Did you ever stop and think that some of them maybe stuck inside due to an illness and FFXI is the only thing keeping them going?
so next time you go to flame someone because they play a lot think about it before you say something. you could be insulting someone that CAN'T get out and do what you do.

omg lol, I made an account just for this post, it was hilarous!
A. I have gear for 75 jobs and a few lower lv ones (maybe 3), the rest I usually use gear from other jobs that I already have (like RSE can be used by everything), or just buy decent gear with the 10 or less free slots that I have and sell it back after lol. I don't use any mules though, too much work to swap items back and forth. Just for selling stuff if I ever get 8+ things I want to sell~
B. If I wrote them down, I could probably get 15 pages about all the bad parties I get lol, but for the most part they're decent. Personally the only times I tend to leave parties are if someone is a huge jerk or there are enough idiots in the party to make it below 2k/hr or something like that...
C. It's pretty funny, half the time I ignore af quests unless the af is actually good, so I solo'd a few monk artifact pieces as mnk75~ my friend still doesn't have all of it as mnk75 lol. For the most part I solo (or duo/trio for the harder pieces) all of the artifacts.
D. it's pretty recent, but ISNMs rock :p I like to merit and exp a whole lot, so 3k IS turns into at least 30k and sometimes 250k gil. In general I don't have extra money though, since I usually level another job if I get that much and don't have anything to spend it on. Woodworking 68 all right! (uselessness ftw! probably good at 100+3 though, otherwise ISNMs make a lot more)
E. I'm 5 jobs away atm, but if I had 3+ jobs that I liked at the time and wanted to exp I would /sea all (level-2) to (level+2) and ask the party leaders if they had any room. It worked extremely well and if I got sick of looking for a party that almost always worked.

A. probably have a lot of mules, and store af sets, as well as full MH and inv space, but still thats a decent question

As previously stated, you only need to be a minimum of 66 to fight Maat, and that means you don't need to be 75 to do that. It would only make it easier.

About the players that have this cap, congratulations, you have mastered.... something ....until the new jobs come out that is.
To the people bitching about other people's lack of a life, well, consider this: these people live the life they want, and that means they'd put themselves inside the game if they could, that's just what they would do. You can't change what they do, and whining about it only lowers your standing in the eyes of others, so instead of ragging these few people and making an ass of yourself, why don't you get back to whatever your life comprises and leave them in peace? The rest of the people who actually have something valuable to contribute will thank you.

noo noo, u suck for trying to defend those people with no life, i mean literally, you have those 4 jobs leveled up, take a good look at ur life, what are you doin? exping? yea it sucks, when you seek for 10 hours straight with no invite, you try to make a party and no one ur lvl range to party with, idk, it's really a waste of time. mee, oh yea, i have 2 75 jobs, and working on my next 2 jobs, but even though i exp, i hate it, and it's really a waste

If that's the way you feel about the game take a good look at YOUR life, if you really feel that way you shouldn't play ffxi. Find something that you actually enjoy, that makes you happy.
I play the hell outta FFXI, but theres just no way. No bonus to any stats no matter how amazing they may seem would make me want to invest the kind of time it would take to level up that much. I have something like 121 days of PT in the year and a half I've been playing(alot of overnight bazaar included) and I still dont have a lv 75 job. I like to take my time and this hat is out of the question.

It isn't that leveling all your jobs to 75 is hard. It would take a lot of time, but you could do it pretty quickly if that was your only goal.
