How it works
# Aug 06 2009 at 4:34 PM Rating: Decent
This is how the ring works (from what i can tell) and it can be useful.

You have to be in a region under your nation's control. When you use the ring, it will warp you to the outpost in that region.

Its lazy i know, but i use it to warp from Konschtat highlands to Valkurm dunes when i'm done camping Stray Mary, so I can get to the moogle in Selbina a bit faster, change jobs and warp home with BLM.

Its not great, but its just another means of faster transport.

I don't know if you have to have done the OP quest in that region for it to work, but my guess is you do. I haven't used it in a region I haven't done the supplies quest in.

Hope this helps clear things up a bit :)
homing ring...?
# Nov 28 2008 at 9:22 AM Rating: Decent
im not sure how this ring works but this is whats happened to me...
oh yea you can get it from the npc that cast the signet on you...

i left windurst into east sarutabaruta and used the ring next thing i know im
at the outpost... what i think it does is take you to that areas outpost
im not sure if doing the supply missions have anything to do with it so yea... idk
oh yea its 9000cp and the return ring(the lesser version) is 2500cp only 10 charges i believe but basically the same thing
if u decide to get a ring like this go w/the return ring cheaper unless u plan on using it a lot go w/the homing ring

better pick?

so being that this ring is somewhat conteversial but can be useful...would it be wiser to just buy a return ring since 3 of them cost 1500CP less than this and just dispose and buy a new one after each use?
ummm yeah...

Ok my understanding of this ring and how it works varys a little from you guys unless I'm just reading you guys explanations incorrectly.

Ok say you're in Lower Jeuno and you want to get to Sandy. Assuming your alliance is with sandy, and sandy owns the Derfland region you should be able to walk outside to Rolanberry Fields, use the ring and show up in Pashhow Marshlands. In my experience this is not the case. The only way this ring will work is if you are already in Pashhow Marshlands when you use the ring, then it will take you to the Out Post area. I won't say this is useless, but in my honest opinion, it's not really all that useful. However, if the ring worked the way of the scenario, this would be an extremely useful, perhaps broken ring.
Getting this ring

Is it even possible to get this baby any more? I am pretty sure that it was only found through a event a couple of years ago.

# May 30 2007 at 1:17 PM Rating: Decent
You can get this ring, I just got it from this years Adventurer Appreciation Campaign.
Just to clarify you can only use this in an area that your nation controls right?
what a shame I'm a Bastokian on Lakshmi... ^^
recharge
# Feb 19 2007 at 7:55 PM Rating: Decent
Can you recharge this ring/how much a charge?
Homing Ring, Yes, Please.
# Feb 21 2006 at 1:07 AM Rating: Decent
This has saved me many times. When I forget a scroll of warp just grab a tele to the nearest OP controlled by bastok and I'm home and warped in a matter of minutes. Yes you need to be in control in anyone of the surrounding zones to the Outpost but you have control of at least one and I'm from Bastok and I get a lot of use out of it. :)
useless
# Jan 10 2006 at 9:35 AM Rating: Decent
this is useless if youre bastokan in my server. it shoudl simply teleport you to nearest outpost. hense the name. its just as tupid ring and a waste of Cp
Info about these rings needs to be added
# Oct 14 2005 at 8:26 PM Rating: Default
The cost of this ring is 9000 Conquest Points.

It will only teleport you to the closest outpost from whatever area you are in. Also it will only work if the region you are in is controlled by your country.

This ring does work, and works like it's suppose to. It's not a quick teleport but rather a limited teleport. If you want a quick teleport then pay for one.
hey there doodspeak ignoramus, this is for vous

If this ring were "ghey" / gay it would be flawless and work perfectly every time as well as look exquisite. Just an FYI for all you braindamaged, chromosomal disaster area, in-bred rednecks who continually misuse the term, kkthxla~

it works
# Jul 23 2005 at 10:49 PM Rating: Decent
your nation must have control of the region for it to work. if it doesnt than it will fail after 10%

Mine worked perfectly. Also, a couple posts down, someone asked why would you bother to get the 9k item, its so you can have 2 rings. They have a 24 hour cooldown, if you have 2, then you don't have to be so choosey about when to use them. I bought both. IF I use 2 a day every time, then I'll only have to buy one Homing for every 3 Return. I plan to have these on me at all times. I also quested and saved all 3 Stable Necklaces. They all still have about 5 charges too, I'll use them when I need to.
guess so

I also bought this ring today and didnt do squat. after waiting the 30 secs, i tried to use it for it to do nothing, gets like previous poster said to 10% then i am left standing there wondering... am i just stupid.... did i use it right... Anyhow, IF it starts working then the 9k cq points I used will be worth it.

Got this ring today, and it doesn't seem to work.
I've tested it in Qufim, and in Rolanberry Fields, Qufim was under Sandy control, Rolanberry under Windy. I'm Windurstian.

Ring doesn't warp me, it starts to load, but cancels at 10%.

And yes, I've done the outpost quests to the regions.

Don't waste your CP on this. All this does is warp you to the outpost if you are currently in that region. It also comes with a 24hr recharge timer. ><;
bad bad bad

This is now available by using 9000 Conquest Points. It is listed under "Common Items (All Ranks)", and it was in my list even though my nation was last place in the conquest standings.

Return Ring costs 2500 CP.

(If Return Ring and Homing Ring are the same, only Homing gives 30 charges while Return only gives 10, then why would anyone buy this? It's 1500 CP more than just buying 3 Return Rings.) <.<
A welcome addition to CP

Aparently these are now going to be available for CP purchase (maybe under common items) in the July update. Personally this is great :) If you get a party invite or have to go to sky or something this is awesome since the price of the chocobos are now skyrocketing into the 4-5k range.. even during the day.. and the outpost teleports are a static price!

Oh and ALL outposts warps are generated by the merchant (not the guy that gives the signet) - and it's level capped to an area. Chances are if you are still leveling in the area then you are too low to use it. Like Valkrum Dunes you have to be minimum of 20 to warp back to town - Qufim - 25 - Cape Terrigan - 65, etc. And of course if you have not done a first supply run - your list will never come up. Go to your country's guard and request to do a supply run (just once will do) in teh areas you want open. Even if it's too high for you it still marks it as done (as I did with Sanctuary of Zitah when I was 29 and I used it at 35).

one time use?
# Jun 28 2005 at 12:48 AM Rating: Decent
a question for someone that understands these enchantments..

<30/30 0:00/[24:00:00, 0:30]>

so 30/30 are the charges, does that mean that you can only use this ring 30 times, and then it's garbage?

Like 5 people mention using this to get to Qufim outpost and back to hometown fast.

I use OP warps almost obsessively.... Neither of the guys in qufim has ever offered to send me home though, much to my chagrin.

You need to do the outpost quest to there (the outpost that is), then talk to the vendor

With this ring equipped, you can warp to the outpost quickly, therefore spending less time either walking or less gil on a chocobo.
Lets say i.e. you're in Sand O'Ria, and decide to level a low level job. Get your equip on, walk into west ron, tele outpost, you just passed a few orcs and are in a good leveling area for your lower job. You didn't even have to hassle with the 100 or so gil for a bird. This may not seem like much, but it is somewhat of a time saver, if you use it for uder the right circumstances. I would be willing to spare 1 inventory slot for this if i were to level a job say level 4-8 or 9. It helps, even if only a little bit.
