#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 06 2006 at 3:00 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Some friends of mine on Fairy did some tests after seeing this and it is proven that YY has a hidden regen effect on Carbuncle. Thanks to Lefay and Errenforth for testing this out.

Carbuncle already has auto-regen without that robe... Even the other avatars... I've been testing it and I'm 54 SMN.

If you can manage to make it to 71 without an overpriced at 16 million gil Vermillions Cloak, this is your replacement. Bah inflation sucks.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 13 2005 at 9:36 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) first of all that makes no sence, and second of all Ro'maeve isn't sky but its a zone from Zi'tiah.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 10 2005 at 1:37 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well let me tell you why it doesn't look like it should belong to a summoner. For anyone who is a SMN or had played through the zilart missions you'll notice that Temple of Uggalpeih (sp) is summoner land...and its related to the ZM missions very closely. ZM is related to Norg... duh. Where do you get NIN and SAM?!?! Do I even need to make that clear as day? Anyway since Shikigami (DOES THAT SOUND LIKE A NIN OR SAM OR NORG NAME TO YOU?!?!?) is a ZM expansion NM found in SKY which you get after completing ZM12... I can drag on further but I digress to say... yinyang = shikigami = ZM = norg = sam or nin

Double-yuu tee eff...

This is what happens when you let an A.D.D. Everquest junkie who's had too many sugar frosted flakes post on FFXI alla.

EDIT: Upon closer inspection, it seems that the outbursts (first seeming as some form of sarcasm) might actually have been intended to be viewed as a positive remark. (i.e. 'DOES THAT SOUND LIKE A NIN OR SAM OR NORG NAME TO YOU?!?!?' roughly translates to: 'Does that not sound like a name you would find on a Ninja or Samurai, or a personage belonging to Norg?')
I hope this helps you in understanding the mutilation of the english language above. ^^

everyone seems so less-than-informed about pet-jobs.

Beastmasters, Summoners, and Dragoons (who solo/duo) all get to learn about hate control with pets.

for instance, if all you do is use assault/fight/smash it and turn around, you will gain a very small amount of hate, if you're a summoner and beastmaster. you can use this to your advantage and leave the fight with nothing but a scratch. charming, summoning, and the fight commands bring very little hate (except in charms case, and you fail. things really HATE being charmed)

Pet hate does not transfer to its master. it is like a new entity, just because your names on it doesnt mean its your hate.

the only things that bring hate are commands done by you.

Sic, and blood pacts for instance. these both probably bring the most hate. but the reason you'd be doing them is for your pet to do some uber move that will make it turn towards the pet. it CAN make the mob turn. maybe for a hit, maybe only for a second.

after some time, it will forget you did that. and your hate will diminish.

WOW got mine its hawt^^ doesn't match anything lol. But now I am torn between this and AF2, I am still not sure which to wear in an exp party.

ONE WORD OF ADVICE, DO NOT WEAR WHILE FIGHTING THE 4 MAIN WYERMS (fafnir/nidhog, Tiamat, Jorgy). Well I guess you could wear it while fighting Vthra, if you kite her.

Only need two more in our ls and all our SMN'ers will have one, even though Snarf has full SMN AF2.

Why? I've worm it at Faf/Nid/Tiamat, with no problems. I cast, BP, return, heal. Rinse, repeat, for the next hour or so. Unless it's at the very beginning of the fight and the tanks haven't established hate, there's no way a BP can turn a wyrm.

The hate on the Avatar: Enmity +5 will never transfer back to the summoner, if fact, there is no way for any avatar hate to transfer back to the summoner.

For example a 2 person party smn and pld:
-Pld provoke gob at start of the fight

-Smn command Blood pact on Titan, Mountain Buster (1000 damage) Titan grabs and hold had with the help of the +5 Enmity (smn commands a BP gain so little hate, maybe similar hate as a Regen)

-Pld Flash gob, Titan keeps on holding hate with just meleeing the gob.

-Smn release Titan. (The mob will see released avatar as a dead Party member, the hate will be gone togather with the dead member)

-Gob runs back to Pld and hit him like there is no tomorrow.

Since Provoke + Flash generate much much more hate than Commanding 2 Bloodpacts (assult + mountain buster) therefore, the pld will be at the #1 hate chart.

This is what many people refering smn damage are hateless damage. Once the avatar is dead/released, the hate generated by the avatar will be gone forever.

another example is:
-If a blm cast stone on gob dealing 50 damage on gob

-smn command mountain buster dealing 1000 damage on gob

-Titan obviously gains hate and keeping it since that 1000 damge really hurts.

-smn released, gob chase the blm due to the 50 damage the blm previously did to the gob is greater than the bloodpact command given by the smn.

Coz Mnk, Sam, Nin wears Do gi, then maybe they (SE) treat Yinyang Robe as a Do gi as well?. Since Yinyang is an asian theory relating to neutral/balance.

So maybe thats why they think "Do Gi" graphic works.

Do: Way/path. The Japanese character for "do" is the same as the Chinese character for Tao (as in "Taoism"). In aiki-do, the connotation is that of a way of attaining enlightenment or a way of improving one's character through aiki.

Gi (do gi) (keiko gi): Training costume. Either judo-style or karate-style gi are acceptable in most dojo, but they must be white and cotton.

Im not sure if can explain this any better than it already has been but i will try.

lets say i call Fenrir, fenrir does enough damage to get hate when Fenrir dies or i Unsummon him the MOB will go after the person who previously had hate and not me. In most cases the tank.

No if i pulled with Carbuncle(avatar is not important) and before he dies or unsummons the BLM or BARD or RDM cast a debuff etc on him when i unsummons or carbuncle dies which every one of them gained most hate with there spell would be the person the mob goes after.

hope that helps you understand

It's very nice.

Avatar hate does not equal Summoner Hate. Most people don't understand this.

For example. I use Leviathan's Spinning Dive at the start of battle and Leviathan gets hate from the tank. Unsummoning Leviathan returns the hate back to the tank, not to me. Get it? ^^

This makes giving a summoner a Dalmatica obsolete.
I'm not a big fan of dalmatica, anyways. This is FREE. FREE is GOOD. Not having to camp Nidhogg and Aspi against bots for an uber piece of equipment with better stats than a Dalmatica then having to pay 4 million to get it crafted is GOOD.

We had a SMN pulling for a manaburn pulling with this on...the avatar would hold hate even if the BRD in our party put on elegy and threnody...so guess what? The enmity goes to the AVATAR not the SMN. If the avatar died, the mob went after the bard if the BLMs had not casted yet...so guess what? The enmity isn't TRANSFERRED to the SMN either. Tested and confirmed. Have fun SMN. This is the best body piece you can get for SMN IMO.

I was having this discussion in our LS today. In the end I argued for (and was decided) that BRD and RDM should have priority over BLM and SMN, whereas before SMN and BRD had priority. BRD and RDM have no body-only refresh eq, and BLM (AF2) and SMN (Yingyang) only have one. Some in the LS argued that A.body shouldn't be given to SMN anymore, but Shikigami is heavily camped with ~50% drop rate. Until such time that you aren't competing with 50 other ppl for the claim, I still consider Dalmatica an alternative to this robe.

On the other hand, we finally got our second Shikigami claim yesterday with drop, which went to our Galka SMN. I believe he is the first NA SMN who actually got the robe on Odin.^^

Looks like the phasing out of Vermillion Cloak
# Aug 08 2005 at 4:12 PM Rating: Decent
Aquarius no longer drops damascene cloth, Vermillion cloaks shooting up in price, only very high end HNM mages really will be able to get it now (unless you're a hardcore gil buyer or bored master crafter)...who was the one true class which benefitted from Vermillion Cloak? SMN. Now they have an item that not only gives what Vermillion did, but also is JSE for SMN and thus has even more great abilities than Verm ever did.

I guess SE is really trying to phase out vermillion cloaks from the looks of it, I suppose the question now would be what a SMN would do before 71 XD

the emnity is for the avatar. A good way to see how Something: +5 works is to look at DRGaf
they have a bonus that is Wyvern: +50HP. everyone that has it says that its the WYVERN that get the 50hp not the dragoon. since thats also a pet like Avatars that kinda shows how it works.

I got this body yesterday btw. its awesome. killed weapon with Nin74 blm/rng74 and SMN75

you know

"Avatar: Enmity +5"

is very misleading. This would indicate to me that the avatar would have an enmity +5 to keep monsters on it and not the summoner, thus making it a "useful" item and not "crap" like most of the new stuff they're making. Enmity + 5 to the summoner is tantamount to suicide. Who the F would ever use such a robe? Who could survive it?

So in conclusion, if this is +5 to the summoner, then my hat is off to the morons at SE for once again making an item much like current drugs (too many side effects to warrent taking the drug in the first place). Thanks again for another pile of steaming ***** that would have been wonderful for another mage class.

But if its to the avatar, then /pats programmer on the back for one of the few truly kick *** items in the game.
maybe a change of mind
# Jul 25 2005 at 4:54 PM Rating: Default
well if it does mean that you gain enmity, not the avater. then I am not crazy about this particular robe. some of you are makin valid points about the Avater: enmity +5 bit. but seriously that is confusing, you see avater then you see +5 enmity, that is the deciding point whether or not I would commit the time to get this item. I am swinging towards it does give the player hate, instead of relieving you of it. but not at all positive, if anyone has this robe, send a tell over here let us know :)

DAM IT!! I knew it was to good to be true, its still good for experiance party though..... already 75 though lol.

First of all, I can't believe someone said this was ugly. It's frigging Jujitsu Gi, for a mage! You can't tell me that's not crazy, even if you don't want it. Anyway the person that said the enmity is for the avatar should be correct, I am 99% sure. I say this because of items such as Wyvern Feed and DRG AF, as previously mentioned. Wording and punctuation in those cases is the same; it would stand to reason that SE would not make <pet>:<effect> an effect for the pet in one case, and an effect for the owner in another.
maybe a change of mind

Just my 2 cents
# Jul 25 2005 at 10:22 AM Rating: Default
Doesn't the yin and yang symbolize balance, so it is quite possible there is a down side effect to the bonuses this item provides. Hence the Enmity +5 while Avatar is out.... Would kinda suck, but by then your SMN should have tons of Enm - gear.

Yinyang is more then just symbolizes balance. It can also mean a neutral of two forces.

I've said this before on a post somewhere, Yinyang does not equal balance of Good and Bad (or what you said, a down side), Good and Bad is not Yinyang. Is more like Push and Pull; Raise and Fall; light and heavy; Positive and Negative (Enmity+5 and BloodPact delay-5)

Notice all the example I stated above does not have an meaing of Good or Bad.

In this case, is a increasing forces to two entities without interrupting their balance in pure value form, the Summoner and Avatar by subtracting a value of 5 units and adding a value of 5 on the other entity.

Nope, it really looks like that. While I can't give a SS for proof, I watched the weapon be taken down and low and behold, a SMN in the PT shortly after equipped it. Maybe the first one on the server. She was with about 6 more SMNs that made it look like cake.
