um.... It does Say Avatar: enmity +5 and as far and the ying yang goes the ying yang necklaces (gorget or whatever) gives bonuses to enfeeb magic and enhancing magic and does not have any know negative effect. my 2 gil
Auto-refresh and the added Refresh stack. Using equipment that adds Refresh along with Carbuncle Mitts, HQ Light Staff and Evoker's Ring will allow a SMN to have Carbuncle out and still regain MP. For all the other avatars the added refresh is equivalent to avatar perpetuation cost -1.
At the moment the question of whether the "Avatar: Enmity +5" is added to the player (when an avatar is out),or the avatar seems to be quite a talking point on the SMN boards. Either way this is truely a stunning item.
Personally, I think this has the edge on the Dalmetica despite the slightly lower MP boost. Short of having a Penance Robe for the avatars (minus Carbuncle), I think this would be my body armor of choice.
Lvl 75 summoner here on siren. been playing since the first week of NA release. this is the most unbelievable piece of equipment I have seen for summoner, especially cause i solo NM's alot, and I have been wanting enmity for my avaters, plus the bp reduction in time, and the refresh effect, which kicks so much as*, I cant belive this. looks like i found a new goal, getting this piece. oh and good thing it is rare/ex so that will keep some people from wanting to score some gil, this would cost millions and millions. phew.. wow guys, this excites me, very much. lol. Was this body piece put here from the update, I have never heard or seen this on my server.
Is the mob that drops this a 24 hour spawn or a lottery off other Weapons? I've heard it both ways, just trying to clear it up before I haul a bunch of people out there to go camp it.

You, not the avatar. It's like painting a bullseye on your forehead whenever you decide to do a bloodpact. Probably best to mix this with -enmity gear in a few slots normally reserved for mp.
Following SE's normal methods, the : means "<condition>: <effect>"
Which means when there's an avatar out the wearer gets Enmity +5.
If it was just "Enmity +5" then it would be in effect all the time.
You are 1/3 correct, there are 3 ways in FFXI to read the ":"
<Day/Weather>: <status> which is equal to your's <condition>: <effect> such as the garuda dagger http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=3133
<pet>: <status> for example Smn AF, Drg AF and
<Job>: <status> some weapons gives this effect such as the Shigeto bow http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=4368
In this case, the Yinyang robe, since is <avatar>: <Enmity+5> which is <Pet>: <status>. Meaning is the pet, Avatar gets the status of +5 Enmity when you have this gear equiped
This <condition>: <effect> is only partially correct, it really depends one the subject, <day/weather>, <job>, <Pet> to determin the additional effect.

I have done many Fenrir runs where we have to tell everyone to not use the af pieces with the -avatar emnity. With thoese pieces equiped it is very hard for Leviathan to hold hate. Try it out and you will see what I am talking about.
It would be nice to speculate and say that SE did not royally screwup when they designed some of the AF pieces but unfortunately they did.
I also did a Fenrir run with someone yesterday who had this robe and his Leviathan pulled hate off of all the others with every Spinning Dive. I think SE finally got their act together and is actually giving the avatars +emnity.
There may perhaps be a draw back to this piece but this is not it. All of the new COP pieces which have a built in draw back have always been a a hidden effect. Why would SE label it on this robe and not on any of the others?
I think this guy is right about the balance thing. Maybe it's hidden though, because that would suck that such a beautiful item has such a crappy drawback. I don't know if anyone would use it, then again, I don't know summoners at all. Hopefully, the enmity is FOR the avatar, not the summoner. Someone get it and test. Go Go Go!
If I had a higher Lv Smn, I'd so buy into getting this in the Mission/quest, But I would'nt know where to get one of these anyways... Nice item though. ^-^
Why should an item like this be worth millions. Too many people become very greedy and raise the prices of things to crazy amounts, why do you think so many people are buying gil nowdays? If they want to have the best and don't want to farm they need to buy gil or put up with the BS of HNMLSs.
I agree with ChaosMogul, all this about Gilsellers and HNMLS's is a little stupid since they don't hunt the NM's for fun but for greediness leaving the people who actually enjoy a game like FFXI aside just because they cann't compete against hordes of selfish bastards. ^_^
