-10Ok I'm on a new character and only got 10days playtime i got lvl60 whm blm and BST and am a very keen NM hunter i allready got Bounding boots (1/9) empress hairpin (1/7) Okotes 1/10 sarutobi kyahan 1/2 moldy earring 1/1 and i've only just gone into the first paying month of owning the game.
from past experiances i told myself not to camp argus it'll be a waste of time before i was 1/3 on argus and 1/4 on Leech king i was down in the maze for weeks on end and it was not fun at all, anyway i dont know what possesed me but yesterday i say F it i'm gonna go check argus out so i get there and theres 1 other camper in the main room near the hut i send him a few tells but hes afk, 10-15mins later he replys and is a complete asshat that i turned up so i guess we must be in window time.
i'm bst/whm hes thf/nin so although he can flee i have widescan wich makes all the differnce anyway after about 2 hours i'm watching TV and look at the xbox screen and see what looks like a tall protozan roaming in the distance i run over claim Argus and now i'm 1/1 on the Amulet with 3 hours only used camping Argus unbelivibly lucky result i know but i've had bad luck omn him to so it evens out lol

I had never heard of this NM and obviously had no idea of the drop. One day my brother was hunting RSE down in the Maze as his high 40 or 50ish THF. Suddenly he says to me "I think I found some NM. His name is Argus." He /checked again to verify it was indeed Impossible to Gauge. He asked me if he could kill it, I said I had no idea but to try anyway. He claimed it right as another THF showed up.
I wasn't paying attn to his fight but he said he was gonna beat him it would just take a bit cuz of the reduce melee dmg. Few minutes later he's yells out "Peacock Amulet?!" Of course I ran over to check it in his treasure pool. I saw it and proceeded to try and strangle him. To this day I regard him as one of the luckiest people I know on FF and he's also one of only 2 or 3 people I've ever seen with the PCA.

I had wanted to camp Argus for a Peacock Amulet for about 2 years. I didn't start until a little over 2 months ago on the December update for Asura. I woke up early to camp for a few hours. I don't have a very flexible schedule so It's incredibly hard to camp NMs like Argus. Though I must say Argus is probably the WORST NM to camp. Along with others like Padfoot (which I got drop on also years ago). It's a 50% chance that either he or leech king pops. And on top of that its about a 17% drop rate which drops the PCA drop rate down to about 8% or so if you are even lucky enough to claim this. I have a friend that got his a few weeks before me. He waited Non-stop for him to pop in the maze. I would see him there and ask him how long he had camped.... it was always like 25-30+ hours. Plus he is horribly over camped. probably get 100 people pass through for him a day. So all that put together makes this NM insane to camp.
So right after the December update i went and camped until i had to get ready.
I logged back on 30min later and I thought to myself. "What if Argus spawned right in front of me 10 seconds after logging in." I read on here that a PLD logged on and he popped right in front of him and claimed not knowing what he was. So I was thinking that and 10 seconds later after I logged in again ARGUS SPAWNED RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. A random COR that i know just showed up was running and ran right into him and claimed before I could. Just about the second he spawned. I was on my THF and asked if you wanted to use my TH. I helped kill him and he got the drop and didn't even give me a reward... barely even a thanks. So I was in shock, I know this is just a game. And I always say that. Real Life matters, a game doesn't. But for some reason I couldn't get this out of my head. there were even a few nights where I couldn't sleep and my heart started pounding because I would dream that he just spawned in front of me. Sounds horrible i know... I have never done that before. so a few more weeks go by and I am Still stressed because of it. I wanted the RARE/EX Peacock Amulet so bad. It's a sign of success to me. I find out there is going to be a maintenance, so I wait around trying to log on every 15 sec before the update is suppose to end. I finaly get through 10 min early and throw up a widescan. I SEE ARGUS!!! i flee and run to him. Someone had already claimed him about 30 sec before I got there. within a minute there were about 15 people standing around him.
So after this I said to myself no more Argus for a while. It was driving me crazy. I was camping in between updates as well. So It was taking a lot of time for nothing. Then on 2/19/2009 I had another Dream about Argus spawning. I could really feel it again this time like I did before when he spawned in front of me.
So I went there and camped for a couple of hours along with about 5 others. It was getting late so I had to go to sleep. I woke up a couple of hours later and ARGUS WAS SITTING RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! I had no idea how long he had been there. I claimed super fast, killed, and got my new Peacock Amulet FINALLY!
I'm so glad I got that out of the way. I accomplished what I set out to do. And that's what mattered to me the most.
BTW, this is the best thing you can put on your neck as most every melee job until Sea torques.

This may irritate some people who have camped Argus for a long time but here's my story:
Around two years ago I was running around the maze (somewhere around 55~60 PLD) gathering my 3rd piece of RSE. I got a phone call and I was called in to work so I told my little brother to go find a treasure chest while I was at work and then log me out.
2 days go by and I log back on and just so happened to be right next to the treasure chest that spawns next to Argus. So I begin to start heading back to the exit of the maze, and then this crazy NM (who I never even heard of or knew what it dropped) pops right in front of me literally 10 seconds after I logged in. I see three people who were camping it start to head towards it so I decided to slap a "provoke" on it and see if I could kill it (no idea what level it was either).
Easy kill and the P-amulet dropped. I've been using it ever since and it was the luckiest thing that ever happened to me in FFXI.

Here's my story...
I started off by getting TOD while AFK. I woke up next day, came back from eating, and missed Argus by minutes. So the next day I arrived at the opening of his window. I waited till last hour of window! With 26 minutes left Argus popped. I asked ls member to help me claim, because there was competition. Anyways argus dropped amulet! 1/1, but, I'm outlotted. So I return next day, and miss LK pop. My LS mate who was with me on first Argus drop, got ToD, so we again return together next day. Again a late late pop. I think 28 hours into window, and it's LK! So we get claim on him, kill him with TH3 from thf plus the drg from my LS. Lk drops earring, I get that, but I'm still not satisfied, I want peacock amulet! So me and fellow drg return again upon opening of next window. Argus again spawns with about 1 and a half hours left. We catch him in hall and get claim. We turn our backs to him for about ten seconds to let the luck simmer (just like we did the first time.) We turn around and kill him.... and... once more
You find a vial of mercury on Argus.
You find a peacock amulet on Argus.
So, 2/2 on Argus, and 1/1 on LK! Big thanks for Vitharn who stuck it out till we bout had our own amulets!

This is probably one of the most frustrating NMs to camp simply because he shares a timer with LK. If it wasn't for that it wouldn't be that bad camping Argus.
The last time I camped Argus was for about a week straight with a friend named Vivix (he made a post on this page regarding our experiences so I won't go into that). Long story short, we finally got Argus to drop the amulet after several claims and he outlotted me on the Amulet. I claimed him again the very next night and again, no drop. ;;
After almost a year now I decided to camp this b*stard again. The first night I stayed logged in overnight to get a ToD. I checked the chatlog the next morning and nothing. I stayed logged in while I was at work, came home and STILL nothing. I decided to camp him anyway with hopes that I might actually get lucky. There were probably 10 other ppl there so I had a hunch maybe his window was open. After about 8 hours of absolutely nothing I see The Argus starts to cast blazed spikes. in the chatlog. He was right behind me! I quickly turn around and provoke and ..... no drop. /sigh
The next window I make sure to come /thf for TH and flee. I sacrifice widescan but oh well. This time there were a ton of campers throughout the night but they all ended up leaving after about 11 hours into the window. After 11 hrs and 45 mins into the window BAM! Argus pops in the small room with the bats in it. I quickly claim him, proceed to bash his face in ... and again NO DROP!
The next night I stayed up through the whole 12 hour window and never saw anything... I'm assuming LK popped that night and I missed it.
Back to square one... /sigh.
I leave my character logged in for the next 30+ hours to get ToD (checking the screen whenever I had a chance) NOTHING!!
At this poing I'm about to give up on Argus forever. The next day was maintainence, so I told myself that I'll log out in the maze and If Argus isn't up when I log back in, I would set aside my dreams of ever owning an Amulet.
I log in immediately after maintainence and no Argus, no LK, no nothing.
The next thing you know, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, about 30 ppl starting showing up on my screen. More ppl hoping to get lucky.
At this point I'm pissed, frustrated, discouraged, angry, sleepy, {Insert emotion here}. I had Kirin in 2 hours and if he didn't pop by then, then good riddance!
FAST FORWARD: 1 hr 45 minutes later. Everyone is still here, all 30 of us. I'm just about to warp out to get ready for Kirin and next thing you know.. The Argus starts to cast blazed spikes.!
Again, behind me. I quickly turn around and voke him. He's mine! Out of a mass of ppl he is MINE! I turn around and let him beat on me a little bit while I did a /sea area to check for any thiefs with TH3/4. I asked the 1st thf I saw {Treasure Hunter} {Can I have it} {Please assist}. I then notice that same thief is watching as Argus is beating me down. His response is delayed ... He finally agrees. I invite him, let him get some hate then I proceed to cleaving Argus's face in.....
You deafeat the Argus.
Argus drops a hecteyes.
Argus drops a Peacock Amulet.
You obtain a hecteyes.
You obtain a Peacock Amulet!!
This was by far the happiest, most exciting, overwhelming {Insert extremely happy emotion here} in my ffxi career.
I equipped the Amulet and /cheered. I've never been so examined in my life. lol
Needles to say I gave the thief a nice little tip too ^.~
~All in all I was 2/8 on Argus and 0/1 on LK (actual claims).
~Both times the Amulet dropped there was some form of TH.
~The Protozoan was always in the hut. (even when LK popped)
~I always tried to keep the Goblin Shaman dead and the volume up. That way if I hear the blazed spikes, I KNOW who it's coming from.
~In my experience, widescan will slow you down if you are constanly focused and paying attention anyway, but that's just me.
~Never assume ppl are AFK, they most likely aren't!
~The chatlog is your friend!! Always make sure to have the correct filters on & pay attention for blazed spikes! (same with volume)

Yes, there is no place holder for Argus. He just apeared in the room with the two bats. Sofar nobody camping him kills a thing they just stand and wait.
He has spawn window 21-24hrs shared with the other NM (leech) so either Argus pops or the NM Leech. There is no place holder that I am aware. Just have to get ToD and hope you get him and he feels like dropping.

This happened back in February or March 2006, I forget exactly. I completed a Dynamis run and decided to finish my Mannequin quest and teleport my WHM/BLM to Mea and decided 1k chocobo was too much so I decided to run thru the Maze. I said what the hey, and chose the path of passing by Argus to see if he was up and who was camping. Lo-and-behold Argus was up unclaimed and no one was around. I was like O.o so I tell me LS I got Argus and they are good luck on that drop, the sarcasm was evident. So I proceed to whack Argus and banish his gelatinous butt. So after 1 minutes this, he dies and I see the drops hectereye and Peacock Amulet. Let's just say I was excited. No around to check me, all alone and 2 other people on the LS to celebrate with me.
Do you need Treasure Hunter? No.
Does Treasure Hunter help? I can only wonder how much it helps but I would say yes it does help.
Can you still get the desired drop without TH? Yes, but it may take a while.

Well, after reading Flokk's post below, I'm on Fairy Server too, I decided to camp Argus too. Just a tip. On your first day there your main goal should be to get the ToD and not so much the claim since you don't know when it is going to spawn. This will save you a lot of stress from wondering how much longer you have to wait.
Day 1: Leech King popped (got ToD)
Day 2: Argus popped in small room (two bats were literally in my face messing up my targeting long enough for someone else to get claim, ot ToD)
Day 3: Leech King popped (got estimated ToD)
Day 4: Argus popped in big room (he popped BEHIND me just out of my view so I had no clue. I saw text of Argus casting a spell so I turned, targeted, booms omeone else got claim)
Day 5: Argus popped in big room (was alone so got claim no problem along with drop.)
Claims:
Leech King 0/2
Argus 1/3
Drop:
Peacock Amulet 1/1 (sub thf)
I think Argus has a mini window which seemed to match up with two of the tims I saw Argus pop. It could just be coincidence, but when it matches down to the minute twice I think it's right.
After 16 minutes pass there is a 1 minute window where Argus might pop (17th minute). I usually wait 2 minutes just to compinsate for seconds since I'm not sure if that is calculated in as well. Just remember you NEED the exact ToD for this to work and not someone's "estimated" ToD otherwise you'll be off on that 1 minute window.
So, if Argus died at 2am, then the windows opens up at 8pm. Add 16 minutes to that would make it 8:16pm. The possible pop window will be from 8:16-8:17 (I personally wait until 8:18 before relaxing). No pop, next mini-window would then be from 8:33-8:34 (added 16 minutes to 8:17). You just keep doing this until he pops. I'm not saying this is guaranteed, but it worked out on 2 Argus spawns that I saw so it's worth a shot.
While this does not shorten the 12 hour window, at least you don't have to STARE at the screen for 12 hours straight. Hope this helps!

So, if Argus died at 2am, then the windows opens up at 8pm. Add 16 minutes to that would make it 8:16pm. The possible pop window will be from 8:16-8:17 (I personally wait until 8:18 before relaxing). No pop, next mini-window would then be from 8:33-8:34 (added 16 minutes to 8:17). You just keep doing this until he pops. I'm not saying this is guaranteed, but it worked out on 2 Argus spawns that I saw so it's worth a shot.
While this does not shorten the 12 hour window, at least you don't have to STARE at the screen for 12 hours straight. Hope this helps!

Well, I just decided to camp an amulet this week on Fairy server, figured what the heck. First day, I go down there, luckily I landed in an ongoing window with a handful of people there. Ended up killing Leech King 8 hours later with another guy - no drop.
Second day, about 6 hours into the camp, Argus popped in the entrance of the smaller room, easy claim against the only other camper. I spoke to the guy, since I knew him already, and we agreed that it was no problem if I waited for a TH4 thief friend to run out as long as it didn't take more than ten or fifteen minutes, in case somebody else ran in and got the TOD. Here's where it gets interesting. The guy tells his linkshell, which just happens to be Playtime, which just happens to be led by a certain psycho bitch who goes by the name of Poof - some of you might know her. She's in Windhurst at the time, where she places a GM call for "stalling", and naturally the GM was at the scene in 2-3 minutes. Anyway, GM comes in, blathers a bit about stalling, kill it, etc etc., so we held it and wacked on it a bit until the TH4 got there, and voila! got the kill and the drop in under 16 hours of camping total. All in all not a terrible experience, despite the psycho bitch aggro at the end.
I think some other people have said it, and they're right, this camp is the most difficult I've ever done. You need a book, or movies, or TV, or something, because you will not last if you try to pull the entire thing straight up. Anybody who pulls this off gets my honest congratulations.

wow, GMs are some over-paid, under-useful dorks, IMO... considering my complaints of Bot fishers and claimers are always promised to be "investigated" but of course, there's the same bot fishers named with random letters all over Windurst n Sandy... I've given up on so much in this game between the pathetic drop rates, impossible claims, unplayability of the game on a whole without 5 -17 other people, the need to join restrictive guilds to do ANYTHING remotely associated with Endgame stuff, rampant RMT, destroyed economy, and then add in all of the KIDS one has to deal with... (I know, par for the course playing a game with 13+ as it's age, but can the 20-25 yr old crowd please grow up? the 16 yr olds are more respectful and mature)

Any 21+ hr NM is rough when you don't know the ToD.

Friday Nov 17th, at 100% moon, i decided to go camp this. I got there, killed some Protozen, then left to check on the Leech King. I clear the room of Leeches, and run back to Argus room. OMG, there he is. Claim and drop.
I wasnt sure if the 100% moon thing was true, but it did get me the Peacock Amulet after all, cause I wouldn't have even tried if it wasnt 100% moon.

logged in about 4 hours after maintenance in maze of shakhrami, i turn around the corner and there's argus, but claimed by someone behind a pillar i couldnt see, i go and look to see who and its a DRK who was at 15% hp, argus was at 100%, i was like... what the hell? then i realized the DRK was running a bot, and was AFK... he died, and i was spamming my voke macro as much as possible, got the reclaim and drop... 1/3 overall. I think the DRK got suspended too cause someone else was all mad and probably called a GM lol

So over the past few months, I've jumped down to the Maze to check in on Argus...someone had once told me that they found him unclaimed upon traversing to the Maze so I thought that I'd give it a try for the first time awhile back.
So fast-forward to last Saturday evening on Titan. Here is myself, a 66 Thief, bored with not much time to play FFXI due to spending time with family, sitting in the Maze hoping to get an Argus span on my log.
There is another guy seemingly AFK. Just him and me, amidst fellow players coming in and out to check on spawn.
I come upstairs about every two hours to check the television to see if he had spawned. I open up my widescan to check possibility of LK being there...nothing. I notice a fellow named "Egg" moving around somewhat between the big room and the small room/hallway. I go back downstairs.
I come back up about 10 minutes later and open up my ws and *bam* there is Argus...had never seen him, nor did I ever think I would. I savored the fact that I just got to see him period on my widescan (I know, what a nerd I am)>
I see that he is in the small room so I flip on flee and run, run, run!! I'm shakin' and time slows down to a near stand-still (I told you that I was a nerd, right?). I am certain that he is unclaimed b/c there was nobody around for almost all day, as stated and that person who was afk was still standing there. I come to Argus...
...and someone has him. Egg to be exact. What kind of name is "Egg" anyway (although one could pose the question, "what kind of name is deyessorc anyway", but that is a bit more clever perhaps?)
Well, I am happy to have seen Mr. Argus, though I didn't get the claim. I say to Egg "Team-up, Treasure hunter II".
No response.
I ask again and he says "I got that already".
Hmm, curious I check him and notice from his gear that he is Whm main so he must only have /thf.
I tell him basically that he should utilize THII and that this Argus guy isn't something to be messed with.
He ignores me and I get annoyed, simply because the less the odds that the Amulet drops, the higher a chance that he'll be back next time as competition. My philosophy is, when campin' an NM (where the drop is rare/ex or people are legitimately there for a drop where they won't come back in the future), if I can't get the claim, I want to help out as much as possible so they get the drop and get the heck outta there.
Now I can understand that he might think that I would want to lot on drop, but if you invite someone, surely he knows that they can be booted and not receive drop. Well, maybe he thought I would "call for help" so nothing would drop. But, as I stated before, this makes no sense because it is more advantageous for me if the darn thing drops.
Anyway, he didnt get drop as expected, so I was annoyed and told him in horrible translation "I told you so...idiot, etc."

After 1 week of camping during a vacation, I got this prize piece for my collection. I love it to bits! It was worth it, and the money back for my old PcC was a big bonus at the time, with the extreme inflation it was at 40M.
My advice: don't give up! He normally pops in hallway or far side of room. It was extreme. I recommend watching some movies while camping, I went through LORT Extended a couple times, and alot of other DVDs.

I have never lost a claim, unless i'm not at my comp, and theres many reasons for this. If you know ToD, and you camp him, don't go in there killing everything all the time. An active player shows others window "might" be open. I take off LS and don't move, people think i'm just there getting ToD. Another thing, the protozoan theory seems to be 99% true. I have seen argus pop when protozoan was roaming, but for the most part keep him in the hut. I've seem argus pop 7 times in a row, 3 of those were not killed by me cause I was out somewhere. Another thing i have the liberty in doing is camping 3 spots at the same time without having to use widescan. I've got a deck of cards(ie labtops) setup on my desk. I have 3 accounts, both rich friends who don't play the game anymore so i don't have to pay for their accounts. I put one in the small room, and 1 in leechking room, and my char in main room. This also scares other people when they come to camp him.
One day i will have this amulet, i'm really trying to push my acc so I can utilize my sick TP build. (Unji/Unsho, Turban, AFBody(1 more item for +1), Dusk gloves, Fuma sune, Suppa) The lack of acc gear, plus being elvaan, hurts to much.

it's not 1 protozoan that either stays or roams, there are 2 protozoans, they are on a shared window similar to argus/LK are. If protozoan in the hut is popped, then leech king will pop. If the protozoan that pops outside is up, then argus will pop.

I don't really need to explain anything, only 1 protozoan up at a time, as far as im concerned that counts as one. And about whether its in hut or not, makes no difference to when LK or Argus will pop.

Wrong. You may be right that their are "2" Protozoans, BUT; Theres only one up at a time, and they have no correlation to argus or leechking spawning, sorry. If anything Protozoan should be in the hut for argus to spawn. 8 of my argus's popped with protozoan in hut, and 4 times for my buddy, 2 times protozoan was outside hut for argus.

Picture is a bit old, i still love this item. I beat my friend to the lot. but i think mentally we didnt wanna stay to help get him his. he lotted like a 670 i lotted around 730. btw we're 1/2 on argus. about 0/4 on LK.
We were both 75. he didnt have thfs knife. i was sam/thf i believe. my steal macro messed up so i engaged to claim. spawned behind me in small room next to the iron door.

So i started this little camping experiment 2 weeks ago, and ended up 2/2 argus and 2/3 leech king. I thought i'd share a bit of info for you would be campers. Leech King tends to pop in the north side of the room, in my experience. It's been rumored that LK does not pop after maintenance, only Argus will..that's just plain false. I had LK pop after every maint, excepting the last one (which is quite frustrating when you're bazaaring an earring already!). Where argus can spawn in the room is huge. He will spawn literally anywhere in the two rooms or the hall connecting them (about halfway in). Argus spawns next to the little protozoan hut on the right. He spawns on the hilly area in the middle of the large room. He'll spawn on both the eastern and western edges of the hall (be careful, he can wrap around a little). I believe he also spawns in the NW section up by the abyss, but i didnt witness that myself. In short, he's frickin everywhere, and its not like lizzy or some crapshoot nm where it doesnt matter if you miss a claim. Camp on weekdays, run around a lot. Doesnt hurt to get in after maintenance either.
I'm glad i did it, but damn it was a lot of work... Now it's time to go put the damn thing to use!

Yes, you are definitely right: Argus spawns anywhere in all of the areas that you mentioned, including by the abyss. You can get a sense of the spawn spots in those rooms by killing the mobs and watching where they appear. Any of those spawn spots in a potential Argus spawn spot (but the only place holder is LK). The lone exception is in the "Argus room," where only Argus or the bats will pop.
This spawn spot was nerfed in the past to prevent voke bots from monopolozing the claim in the Argus room, and then the drop was nerfed later to set back the RMT bots who took control later on.
If you stand at the end of the tunnel into the Scorpion room, the only spawn spot you will miss is in the very outer, upper quadrant of the Scorp room toward LK. Other than that, you will at least see Argus even if you don't claim.

Was bored one day and went out to the maze just to look at spawn, maybe get a ToD but I wasn't planning on staying more than an hour or two.
I was DRK/RNG and zoned into the maze from Tahrongi since I'd never traveled to Argus spawn before. I ran around for a while looking for a map layout that was familiar to the one posted here for Argus spawn and finallyI just decided to enter in from Buburimu.
From Buburimu I pretty much guessed where that second map would be, and walked into the area where LK and Argus spawn. I popped up widescan (Almost out of habit) and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Argus on the list. I got the NM tracking adrenaline rush and ran over to him as fast as possible.
As I entered that little room I saw two people in the corner where my tracking arrow was pointed, I moved my cursor around to check out how much HP it had left- still surprised I got a solid ToD from this spur of the moment journey. When I targetted Argus, I saw a yellow/white name and my heart sank.
I immediately casted Stun on it without wondering how the two there didn't have it already. I proceeded to kill it, totally surprised that such an innocent peek into Argus' spawn lead to a fight with him. The fight was a lot tougher for 60DRK/RNG than I thought it would be, Guillotine and Drain made the fight safe.
With the other two campers still AFK (One asleep, the other making a sandwhich) I killed Argus and watched Peacock Amulet scroll across my log.
Moral of the story; don't be afraid to go cmap this guy. SE ruined my Leaping Boots income to appease the bunch who cried that only gil sellers had access to these items, but most people still won't go out and even try at the ra/ex versions. >.>

I running back from LoO decided to stop by the maze... The second i get there I see argus and DC!!!! log back on, 56k modem grrr, get back on and there he is still 5people in the room musta all been afk. Just pulled out weapons and started attacking him. Few minutes later he's dead and I've got a pretty little amulet. /jokes, that really didn't happen maybe in a dream or some$h!t.

I arrive the next day about 5hours late cause i was camping that green bow worth millions... Couple hours into camping him the guy who got him the day before logged back on. He tells me "Hey dude the window isn't open." He acted as thou he was my friend and that he was being honest about the whole thing. I told him the window was open, he still didn't believe me. I told him i know exactly when and where you killed it, once i did that he shutup. I told him just where he could put his new amulet.
Not but ten minutes later Argus pops! I dart claim him, and being 66nin i didn't think he was very hard, didn't mess with shadows or and debuff tools. Few mins later if i don't act like a ninja i'm gonna lose! So i kick it into gear and whip up on him, I crossed my fingers, and prayed... 0/1 argus!!!! NOOOOOOO /cry ahhhhh...
But the thing that bothered me more then going 0/1 on argus was what that guy did to me. Went out of his way to lie to me. Talked to him about it later he said he was doing it to help out his friends...
Well Cutio if making friends, or helping friends, comes at the cost to others, i'd have to say that makes your pretty pathetic. You didn't have to say anything to me. But knowing you went outta your way to lie, really shows what kinda character you really are. Even your friends you were "Helping" thought that was pretty low. Final Fantasy is full of enough BS, it would be better for all of us if people like you didn't bother playing the game. For those of you reading this that thinks it's the slightest bit ok what he did, you too should stop playing the game, you all really make FFXI something that most don't want it to be...

just curious, does anyone know a good solid way to camp this thing? 12-30 hour spawn window doesn't exactly fit my schedule, and I don't even know a ToD. other than just letting it sit, is there anything I can do to get it?

I came down to the maze just to do the quest for the Burnite Shell and got lost trying to find my way out. I saw the exit marked for Buburimu but I really wanted to just get back through to the canyon. I came upon 7 75's just sitting in the designated area and i walked right past them. Hit a dead end and turned around to see this thing blinking all 10 of its eyes at me. None of the other people saw it there and I weapon claimed it. First time seeing it, last time killing it. I got the drop when all i was trying to do was leave. Needless to say I got some nasty tells from those camping. It would appear that sometimes dumb luck is the best kind.

same stats or not Rare/exep has changed the reason for getting nm drops
camped nms before for gil n now its more a right of passage for jobs that do need the stats. i used to hate camping nms cause of the fierce competition with gil sellers now its more enjoyable knowing i atleast have a chance at it

its really all about respect, the 2 amulets do the same thing. the difference, r/ex means that you absolutely earned this item, the other is cool as well, mainlybecause the gilfarmers cannot monopolize the drop for one, the farmers don't have the patience to collect beastman seals for two, and if you want to sell it you can for a good chunk of gil which in the end will dry up the well on gilfarmers... that is if they would do this on all the highly marketed items. SE you finallyearned some respect back and proved that you were able to get things under control. carry on and keep helping the true gamers !!

I would say either charm has the same weight as far as respect, the only disrespect should be the shame the poor under achiever gill-buyer feels when he/she lies to the unsuspecting masses about how the charm was attained. no body wants to admit to being quite that stupid.

I'm a 75rng whos leveling sam as my new sub after the nerf, and I have a couple of quick questions for everyone. At level 58 I started using a gun, and have spent virtually millions of gil getting to level 75 because I didnt get the break that alot of newer people got on experience. I had to do it the hard way. So after spending days farming so I could get another level, only to do this repeatedly, I wanna know how this rare/ex drop can be considered a bad thing? When it comes time to go get my peacocks charm i dont have to farm for 4328753240987652348905 years to afford it, without the gilsellers and voke bots there I can just go camp it now, with a good chance of getting it. So hows that bad? Is it bad because now the gil sellers have to move onto something else? Who knows maybe SE will get smart and make all equip drops off nms rare/ex and throw the regular drops in bcnms, would put the gil sellers out of business, and prices would fall back to where they belong. I cant imagine gil-sellers spending hours at a time camping logs or harvesting, theres just too many trees, and harvesting points for that. SO what could possibly be wrong with it?
