Shikaree Ring  

I know there's one in every crowd but still:

Was passing through Ordelle's last night doing my ZM5 headstone. Saw a Stroper Chyme up downstairs, killed no drop. Remembered there were two upstairs. 1st one, no drop.

2nd one - DROP!

Yeah BST/WHM too.... So I guess that's just how it goes. 1/3

My first at 112, second at 135, for a grand total of 2/247!

Think about it throroughly.

I went 2/40 or so on these as 50THF/NIN. Not a waste of time by any means, as these are great rings. Not to mention I made around 100k farming Flame Degens and other misc. items while I was waiting for Chymes to pop. All in all about 5 hours of farming for the rings, and I made a hefty sum of gil from the other spoils, not a wasted trip I'd say.

Thought I'd share my "waste of time" story. I don't want to discourage anyone from trying to get this but don't read just the very very few post on people stating "ah, I was in the area and killed a stroper chyme and am 1/1 on it!". That's pure absolute luck and wouldn't consider that helping you when you go to hunt. The drop rate on this is absolutely terrible and envy the ones that got it under 10 kills.

There are 4 spawns on 12 minutes timers. 3 of the spawns you can get to easily if you take the path for Morbolger (Brown Belt quest NM). The reason I say just kill 3 is that to get to the 4th spawn after killing the 3, you have to drop off th ledge, go back up the stairs, drop down the other hole(SW Corner), kill, then run back around and up the stairs drop down SE hole again and repeat. This is just more running then is necessary. I found it easier to kill the 3 spawns after dropping down the SE hole.

I would kill the one near the Morbolger spawn, then back track and kill the one near beetles(you may have to continue going N a little down stairs to find it) and then back track some more to where you dropped down the hole and kill that one. By then, run back up to the first spawn and if you get back up there under 12 minutes, kill the elemental and/or Napalms in the West room before you can exit to Latheine. They drop a Flame Degen, but also a horrid drop rate. By then, the the first Stroper Chyme you killed should be back up and repeat.

You can kill 3 Stroper Chymes 15 times within an hour on 12 minutes spawn timers without competition. I killed about 40 with no drop, while getting one stack of slime oils with some minor competition.

This was with TH. I even ate my Four-leaf bud due to rumor I heard you need to eat it to get better luck. Best I got was 2 slime oil drops on one mob.

I was trying to get it for my lvl 30 Nin I am lvling for a sub. Was going to combine it with my Venerer ring at 34 but totally just said it wasn't worth +2 ACC/Ra ACC.

did they change the drop rate or something? after reading everyones post on the subject i figured that since i had nothing to do i would run down there and shoot for one...joking to myself as im running down there thinking how funny it would be if i got on first kill...and wouldnt ya know it sure enough i am 1/1 LMAO

How much this baby going for?

one of the only lucky things thats hapened to me in this game...
my friend and I went into the cave looking for some shikaree rings, we found out that the drop rate is VERY low and it is almost impossible to get two drops. He was a 58 rng/thf and I am 62sam/thf, he ended up dying geting claim with low HP. I got one drop after a handfull of kills the next time i loged on in that zone, and on my way out i passed another chime in a tunnel and decided to kill it, since i went the wrong way and had to turn around, and it ended up droping ANOTHER shikaree ring! I fliped...two drops in 5-10mins, unheard-of with this NM.

Me and a few friends of mine, Usasuke and Lockdown went out one time, didn't even know that Stroper Chyme dropped that ring, drop rate 1/8 or so. Gave it to Usa. That was almost a year ago.

Today, went out with Sizzlechest to farm for Flame Degens. Killed Stroper Chyme about 5 times, 1/5. Grats Sizz on that lot. ^^

53SAM/RNG, I got this drop: 1/46. This was without THF of any sort.

My SAM/WAR Friend had a THF with him and told me he was 2/130-ish.

Fighting at my level, I did have a little bit of difficulty. I subbed /RNG so I will know where they have spawned. I would rather have RNG then /THF in this situation because running from the 1st spawn all the way to the 4th spawn and realizing someone else already killed it is a huge waste of time. I like to know WHERE it is and if it is already dead. Just preferance though. Sure, I might have recieved the drop sooner, but it would have taken me longer to know where the next jelly spawned and when.

Two jelly fights as 53SAM/RNG (my currently highest level as of this date) can lower me down to low health. After two fights I will have to rest or use some sort of HP Regen. I fought with Seigen (sp?) so I can use Third Eye to dodge the majority of the jelly's attacks.

You CAN (it is true) have two of these rings on at the same time. It is a great way to kill time while you wait for party invites. Be sure to say in your search comment that you have a warp out of there. Going in without a warp out can cause you to be late to your party if you farm while waiting for a PT.

When you come up to the areas where these monsters spawn, you will notice there is a wall/ledge you can't get up. Go back one room and you will notice on your map, a little path leading south. Take that and you will see holes in the ground. these holes lead you to the higher ground on the floor below. Don't take the first one on the left and right side of this room, take the ones at the dead ends.

There are four spawn points. Two on the floor where you to fall down holes to reach, and two on the stairway to the right of the right room (from the first floor). Using a Bow and Arrow is a slow claim if your trying to outclaim someone, Dia or provoke is fast. RDM can get good and fast claims with fast cast ^^.

THF sub with TH1 has been from 0/43 for ring and 1/10 sword onwards.

0/23 on it... /sigh

Spent about 2 hrs today and went 2/10 on this ring.

I got this for me 1/1 and i got it for my firend with 1/3, toooooo easy

lol your one and two cause noone camps this mob anymore imagine when they were archers you might be even 0/2 in a month

Could my 42 SAM take this with the help of my NPC?

just got this drop on my fifth kill, third kill of the day after moving to another area away from the stropers.

Just went 1/6 on this drop with TH2. When I did get the drop it was full moon Windsday. Trying to get another 0/3 at this point.

I got this lastnight. I'm 1/13... was doing thf af and got this on the way ^^.

Well i dont know how i did it, but after getting my treasure chest for rse i decided to camp and went 2/5 on this ring, so i called that a day and now i got two new rings for my lvl 30 drg

1/1 on it. i was looking for ordelles key. saw it. i casted banish to bring it down from the upper lvl. i was down at G-11, so it also pops there. shikaree ring seems kinda useless to me. but i'll keep it for a bit anyways.
