Selene's Bow  

Solo'd as RNG 75 with difficulty for all of my kills, 1/5. If you plan on soloing on RNG, you have to know what you're doing.

Bring acid bolts, TONS of sleep bolts, blind bolts, bloody bolts, darksteel bolts. Keep Coney debuffed with acid 100% of the time. Be sure to NEVER wake him unless you have 2 or more shadows on, and always sleep him before you recast shadows, (ie; sleep bolting to recast shadows > weaponskilling or acid bolting.)

If your HP gets low, don't panic. Just shadowbind with AF gloves, move far away to recast shadows and wait for their cooldown to be up before breaking bind. Use bloody bolts and sleep bolts together, forget using acid/blind/weaponskill if your hp gets low, only use bloody/sleep combination if you are in trouble.

I primarily used Othinus' Bow but also had a Repeating Crossbow for sleep/bloody spamming. One of the biggest problems was agroing and avoiding the nearby raptors, so keep Reraise up for all of your attempts.

1/9 - 3 pop new> 3 full > 3 new>drop

New moon much easier, full moon spams a 1k heal move every 15 seconds...

I helped a few peeps in my linkshell camp this guy, we had a 73 thf with thiefs knife, 2 people in our ls needed the bow, we killed it 2x no drop, then killed it again drop, again drop, 2/4 FTW. Congratulations Mariuhs and Littlemunkey!!

Sunday morning checked moon, was 2% so i decided to go check on NM. I was reluctant to go because i'm 0/8 on Vali's bow. Anyways popped Black Coney, he only used AoE once and went down easy as 75nin/war. Bam!-Sleave obtains Selene's Bow! Holy crap 1/1!!!

0/32 Monster Signa and 0/45 on S Bow. The lovely Lynna most of the time solos the rabbit as RDM/BLM doing the nuke/sleep technique verting once with me ds cure V her. Other times i have her and sereth fight it. And other times my neecwa Crimm. Last time i did this i had Sufirax (75NIN) and Jayx (75THF) KCLUB FTW! myself and lynna. we were 0/8 then i had my buddy Dreamewalker (THF75) join us. 0/5 until people had to go. Shortly after i came back with Lynna and we went 0/2. Can anyone tell me is there a trick? Do I logout after each kill? what do i do!!! I'm 60 RNG atm. Not really wanting to continue because War Bow+1 is getting old and im not paying that kind of money for E Bow. Also imo, S Bow is better. You can vary between foods to boost RA and Ranged Accuracy considering the moon phase. Anyway... PLEASE. PLEASE! Someone help me. I'm about to shoot myself.

hehe got this bow friday night and im sooo happy. I have neither the patience to camp vali's or the money for E.bow. Me as 74 blu/nin and my friend lilmagex as 75 rdm/nin we went 1/12 which i guess is a pretty good rate from what ive seen in the posts. It was a very easy fight onry trouble we ever has was when it used snow cloud and paralyzed us. We missed 3 claims to another pt they had nin popping it with his nin cheater boots. We missed 1 more claim to a 75thf/nin but he soon found out paralyze>solo thf we ended up saving his arse and he stayed to help us claim him for a few more pops. My rng is onry 52 now and i cant wait to equip this baby ^^

Most Japanese players that I've met or compete with in FFXI are friendly and kind. This BLM guy seems to be different though. It's quite hard to believe this guy did such thing (apparently , by holding the NM alive for a long time, it's very likely that the person is planning something nasty, or is pulling a dirty trick, right?) but it was even more shocking when I saw him cursed us in Japanese ([Hiragana] mixed with English characters, saying "NA[no kusodomo]si[ne]wwwwww" which my friend said it means "stupid NA, go die")

I hardly ever laugh on someone else's misfortune, but tonight I was so glad that the Black Coney dropped this bow for us, not him (yet).

If he hadn't been that nasty to Lu, he would have offered the bow (or the claimed NM) to him (because I and my bro couldn't reconnect at the moment).

Just want to add a thought about the drop rate.... It seems completely, insanely random. O_o

Our setting was Lu (NIN/WAR), RNG/NIN, and MNK/THF. The first time Lu claimed and the bow dropped he wasn't in our PT, though.

75RDM/37DRK my rng was 7k from 60 and I merited the hell out of arch. Every one was scared to help me due to wild carrot and past attemps when the NM 1st came out that ended badly, so I disided i would just sleep nuke it. Whent down increadbly easy the thing has like 0 MaDef it don't link and the only way you will aggro rapters is if you freek out and try to run away. I went /drk to stun if it tryed to carrot but it never did go /blm and you will own this guy easy as hell, don't know about the black wabit though.

Got this on Seraph Last Night. Thanks to the Money Machine LS! 1/8 Vs. Black Coney for the Bow. Party of 6:
BLM/RDM 75, MNK/WAR 70, DRG/WHM 70, BLM/WHM 64, WHM/SMN 60 and myself RNG/NIN 60.

Things to note:
1/ Make sure you move well away from the Raptors when fighting this guy. They Wiped us all out Very fast on our firsts kill of the Bunny. Make sure you pull back to the wall where its safe.
2/ Make sure mages stay well well... well~ out of the AoE range. Its a nasty one. Almost one hitted the Whm.
3/ Building up 300% tp during the 15 min wait definetly helped. Made the fight alot shorter.

Thanks to the lvl 75 Whm who gave us all R3's. (Can't remember the name ; ;)

Got mine off of my 2nd kill... But I died a couple of times trying to kill him by myself XD
Got a friend to kill it for me the first time, he was 75 rdm, so he just soloed it. 2nd time I had just been camping Jaggedy-Earred Jack, and decided it would be good to go after another rabbit <,<; So I head out there and find the tracks, utsusemi and eat some sushi, break out my sleep bolts and pop the tracks. I was doing pretty good, nothing bad was happening, got him down to about 20% down before he resisted my sleep bolt while I had utsusemi down. -_-' and then he used snow cloud and I was dead... XD Apparently being 69 ranger doesn't help, that and having a taru's health... Anyways, got another friend to come and raise me, 75 whm. He and I wait around for the tracks to appear again, I pop it, and we go at it. got it down to about 20% health left before it snow clouded the both of us... He panics and forgets to take off his paralisis and mine, so we both go down =p Another set of campers grab it, but they didn't get the bow out of it. After they pop it again, Guadalupeb (whm friend) and I get the next one and start in again. This time I barrrage, sharpshot, and slugshot it while he banish IIIs it, before I start in again with sleep bolts. That helped alot, cutting the fight down to 10 minutes instead of the 15-20 it was taking on our last attempt. when it had 10% health left we just went all out, barrage, sharpshot, slugshot and eagle eye shot did the trick =p looked in the treasure pool and there the bow was ^^

So my friend wanted some help on this Sbow.. I thought sure why not.. He had me come over on full moon. I solo'd him super easy as BLM75. No drop. We fought him again 15 minutes later, no drop. Well lets just say we tried almost every full moon and new moon for about 3 weeks with no drop. Like 2 days ago he /tell me "Full moon!" and he bugged me to help him with that stupid Sbow.. so we went. Kill ed with no drop... then again.. the 3rd time that night we finally got drop. Made my heart nearly stop considering I was starting to think that that stuipid rabbit didnt drop that bow.
Well as for how many times it took.. I would have to say we went 1/25+ on him. Horrible drop rate but seems like a good bow for RNG, and not to mension it saved him a ton of gil. (Sorta... Im charging him for labor :D)

LS mate 75rdm/nin and me 69thf/nin were planning to farm buffalo in UR for hides for my Cor because the prices for crafted items for new jobs' AFs are jacked up. He went ahead and figured out there that it was full moon so he asked me to buy some carrots but I was in Bastok and only 1 piece of Sandy Carrot for sale but I bought it anyway :P

Popped the rabbit 95% full moon and we duo'd it.It was the first time we fought it and we were trying to figure out how it moves. We tried to melee at first doing Savage Blade > Dancing Edge took around 1k total of it's hp but it kept using wild carrot for 900ish which is really annoying. Rdm decided to sleep nuke and I decided to time my ranged as his nuke lands to build some tp.

Finished the rabbit off with SADE and Selene Bow dropped 1/1. Thought my lsmate needed the bow but he said he didn't have rng leveld so he gave it to me because I have it at lv51 but I'm using gun due to my marksman merits from cor (galka ftw on guns too) and my archery is waaay behind the cap. Whole fight took around 25 minutes.

The bow's going to sit in my moglocker until i hit 60 and do some skillups hehe.

Well FINALY got my Selene's Bow tonight, it was Iceday New Moon 0%. After going 0/14 on this w/o a thf, mixed white and black. I think TH dose effect its drop rate. My first kill w/ thf in party it drops. Some pple say that th dosent effect force pop nm's, but in my opinion it dose. Havent yet used the bow but im sure ill like it. Also on a sidenote, black bunny is way ezer than white.

I've used both sbow and ebow back to back to test out which I liked better. Overall I like sbow. Played around with both for a week a long while back and most the time I was doing almost the same dmg to more than ebow. Plus even if ebow might have a little more of an edge, I feel Free>all. Save the 5-15mil depending on your server and spend 1000g on a stack of carrots and get out there! XD

~all opinion, different builds bring different needs and wants.

1/13 on sbow, mix of black and white coneys.

Finally got it on the white coney, without enough damage to kill the cure-spamming bunny normally. We used sleep bolts and every 60 seconds SATADE + Stun. Once you get the timing down, it won't get off a single wild Carrot and you'll kill it much faster than with sleep bolts alone. (8-10 SATADEs required.)

w00t! also got my obow the same night, so i'm a pretty happy Ranger.

Well, so far I'm 0/27 on this retarded bow. Most of the attampts have been against Black Coney. So now that I have had such a hard time I figure I cant give up now. I just hope I get it soon.

Easier than the white one which I've heard so many stories about.

Black hardly uses his AOE, maybe like 1-2 times a spawn.

Camped with Social LS 11/14 - 11/15/2005 (lol yeah overnight camp-a-thon)

5 spawns 2 bows drop off the Black coney, easy with full PT LS members, NIN, PLD, 2 THF, BLM and WHM (another BLM joined shortly after - alliance)

Not to be superstitious but made sure Melee got kill and not kill rabbit by a spell (don't think it really matters)

after second bow dropped, logged, then heard in the morning a third one dropped that day.

3 LS members now have bows and DoT is sweeeeet... highly recommend this bow in place of Euryto's... on Garuda, the price for Eury is BS... 3 LS members just saved 15 mil gil not buying that bow and we couldn't be happier.

Can be used to lvl 75 as if it were Euryto's, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, this can be used as endgame bow. I personally prefer this to guns and bullets and get more DoT with it.

Landed a 1660 sidewinder on Tavnazian Ram in Lufaise Meadows after it used berserk. I was rng/war and also used berserk with demon arrows.

Landed a 850 sidewinder on weapons in sky repeatedly while using berserk and demon arrows.

Highest slug shot post-patch with my Obow was around 550'ish. Overall, this new bow does great damage. But with woodworking 70, I can HQ holy bolts for about 1k/stack, so the money keeps me using the crossbow. Plus, I have marksmanship skill of 279 instead of 269 thanks to merit points. Oh well, Sbow is great to show off with.

At last! I got the bow. Tested it on some too weak mobs and on Suzaku and I'm impressed with the dmg.

great bow...Ebow still seems to edge out into the lead though....at Full RATT mode, this bow can outdamage Ebow slightly...at least in my limited observations...Ebow is still my #1 pick but this bow is a definate close 2nd....
