Waning Gibbous, Lightning Day.
Was on my way to the Temple to gather Bee Larve to spawn the Hornetneedle NM and ran into this guy instead.
Wasn't paying too much attention until it aggro'd me.
Freaked out without know what the heck it is (Oh yeah, I learnt my lesson with Mr. Steely; there can be scary NM in a zone that you would otherwise perceive as safe) and Hundred Fisted it.
After 400damage or so, it decided to Perfect Dodge and that's when I realised it's THF :P
So I punched and so it dodged and so my 2hr ended.
3 Asuran Fists later, this guy's dead and I got the cape.

I have been very lucky on NM drops since I restarted about 2 years ago. I was dreading the fact I might have to camp this guy more then getting ToD but I just got drop on first kill about an hour ago. ^^ Sorry to those of you that are 0/???. You will get yours eventually.

ok seriously im cursed when it comes to these NMs . . i mean i just have no luck. Firstly this NM is pretty easy, can solo fine without takin any damage PLD/RDM fight needs to be a bit controlled but easy enough, can destroy it on DRG/RDM fast and easy just watch out for Throat Stab . . But anyways im like 0/13 on this NM and im sick up to my tits of it, i mean i camp it, out claim ppl on it and kill it! Give me a break i know things are meant to be a challenge but it gets old after the first 6 times, ITS A R/E ITEM, and 3 of those 13 times i had TH3 so TH w/e. . then theres the Intruder Earing NM 0/3 on that, Bloodbead im 0/6 on that . . i just dont have any luck at all....

Somewhere I read that this guy is up after maintnance, this true? Or is it a 21 hours after maintnance pop? Just trying to clairify.
Perhaps the 'Dark Side Of The Moon' defined the 70's in so many ways but "Us and Them" captured a moment of melancholy realization in a timeless way. Long live the 70's!!!

A friend got me this cape today (Thank you MrFrodo).
Definitely a nice piece for an Enmity build and the added bonus of -5% Magic Damage reduction is the cherry on top. The reduction will cancel out the + effect of my Jelly Ring and may save my hide a few times as NIN when hit with -gas.
I will get alot of use out of this, even if I eventually only used it as a macro piece for provoke.

No, National Control items do not work in Aht Urghan areas.
Edit: I just tried the signet thing with Intruder Earring and it did not work. And I highly doubt these items all work differently.

I tried this with Intruder's Earring. It didn't work. I'd assume all of these items are the same, which would mean that it in fact does not work at all in Aht Urghan.

Would the -5 to magic damage work all the time in the Aht Urhgan areas since bastok, sandy, and, windy can not controll any of them?

First off I would like to say that I have only seen and fought this notorious monster ONE time. So my information may be vague, but none the less, helpful.
I was running threw the jungle and I saw him, which I never do so i flipped out yelled to the LS to come help me. Only one person came to help, along with my gf. So our setup was this:
Sicarios(me): 64nin/32war
Procella: 75blm/37rdm
Curio: 64blm/32whm
This by no means is an easy fight, for one the NM had little helpers with him, a Tonberry(BLM & SMN). Following that was the addition of 2monkeys and another tonberry, thx to Sleep[aga] II. I focused on the NM and the blms just kept me healed and enemies alseep. Towards the end of the fight the BLMs were out of MP and i only had 106HP left to go, and still NM's not dead. Threw shadows up and tossed him a Blade:Jin and got him. I got the drop and totally flipped cause so many people saying they haven't had any luck. But the fun wasn't over yet. still 6-7mobs attacking us from every which way. Curio ran north to Rancor, Procella ran south to die infront of temple. I made it into temple with 60hp left, thx to nighttime and my boots.
BE CAREFUL! Tonberry blm's and the summoner ones, are no joke, their magic is pretty lethal, nothing a NIN can do if an aga rips all his shadows down. >< I would recommend pulling him to a safer spot, and having some buddies to help out.

As for the cape it is nothing special. I will be using it for my voke macro, and thats about it.

Im trying to find out if the NM that drops this item has any places holders or does it just pop, because ive never came across this NM.

This cape owns for tanking Wyrms when they take flight and pwn you with fireballs. Just macro it in and out when they fly/land.

The drop rate on this item is really a challenge. It's not too bad to camp, as the repop seems to come at a regular interval, and the load spot was always the same for me. I soloed this thing several times from 70-73, with no luck on the drops. I would strongly suggest clearing your tonberry hate regularly before camping it. Links are likely if you aren't cautious, and it did use Perfect Dodge on me every single time I killed it. It also uses Throat Stab and the other fun Tonberry standard abilities. I finally gave up camping this thing, only to have a couple of friends run into it while running from the Elshimo Uplands outpost warp. It dropped for us on a full moon, with TH2 and TH1 both in the group. Many thanks to Gair and Emila. If anyone wants specifics on camping or mob behavior, feel free to PM me.

It seems that there are more and more options being discovered to offset the update where hate is lost when shadows are hit. As was mentioned, this with the dash sash, plus Dorado sushi, and mermaid's rings make keeping hate a snap pre-eris gear. Just macro this in along with dash sash and mermaid's when using provoke.

A Paladin could always wear this to offset the +5% magic damage taken from the Jelly Ring. Plus the enmity isn't something to toss to the side as well.
Aside from the Enmity, this could be a very good cape for Monks thanks to its Magic Damage resistance. Now, the REAL trouble is killing a tonberry NM 20 levels higher than me...

LOL. I'm praying that was sarcasm. I hope all monks would avoid enmity as if it were death itself. Even a PLD with tons of enmity and a thief tricking extra hate often can't hold agro over a well geared monk that has no enmity.
Usually this is how you tell an overgeared monk from a newbie monk. The one with the gear spends a lot of time tanking (and moaning to their linkshell about how no one can hold hate off them -- ><).
