tried fighting this nm with drg (me), blu, blm, mnk, pld to get my boots and we wiped. what killed us was the earthpounder spam at low hp. flying hip press is a joke, just let the tank tank 3 hits from that and then engage.

We did this last night hoping to get at least one pair for our group. We ended up going 4/4 on it. Had Nin, War, Thf, Rdm, Whm, and Blm.

FINALLY i got em! I had to do 5 runs before i got one. My setup was different every time. But if you have a good nin + a good rdm you can kill mob every time. I recommend having someone with TH4.

Obtained these last night.

Setup: WHM/BRD/THF/NIN

Thf was there for occasional SATA- (Mostly there for TH4 though lol)

WHM kept Baraera up-
BRD kept Wind Carol and Mambo up-

Without those 2 buffs, his AOE will deal roughly 600 DMG to anyone it hits.
With those 2 buffs, generally AOE hit for 180ish.

1/3 now on this mob. Good luck to anyone killing it! :D

Just got these last night :)

I died within the first 10 seconds of the fight... due to double Body Slam. But got the drop and I was happier than a race horse.

Tougher fight than we all thought.

75 THF (tanked like a champ)

You know, SOOOO many people pay so much money for haste gear, or work so hard to get haste gear, because they feel that it is THE most important thing in the game, however, when theres a piece of gear that has Slow+ on it, no one even has a second thought about it - WHY?!?! If speed is so important to everyone, shouldnt slow+ be the most awful thing you can possibly equip? OH well, I"m sure all I"m going to get is replies of "u suxorz, tehz b00tz roxorz"... PERSONALLY, I dont think the slow+ is a BIG deal, but it drives me nuts that people are SO nuts about paying a fortune for haste+ gear, but dont even acknowledge the slow+ on here. As a whole, these boots arent BAD, but they are nothing great either, ESPECIALLY for how hard it is to get them! About the ONLY use I see for these is a macro-in ws piece for samurai, MAYBE - as a soloing RDM, dependant on fast cast and haste, the slow+ DOES really hurt if youkeep them equipped, and for solo, I'd MUCH rather use duelist boots, crimson boots, or even AF boots if I"m using Genbu's shield! (+10 shield skill is GREAT if you're already capped, and helps a LOT in many situations). As for macroing these in for DD jobs besides Sam, honestly, you can only macro-in/macro-out so much before it becomes a nuissance (limited number of lines, hitting multiple macros every time you ws, mages losing you as a target, the list goes on), and even then, you will NOT notice much of a difference at all in ws dmg (even ones that are largely dependant on str or vit). If you think they're worth what it takes to get, and you just HAVE to have every little bit of STR (or Vit) you can get from your gear, then go for it...

Shitty Drop Rate
# Mar 15 2007 at 1:06 PM Rating: Decent
yea, SE definitely needs to either increase the drop rate on these boots or make them straight up 100% drop cuz it really sucks watching everyone else your group get their sabatons while you're left with a 200k hole in your pocket and nothing to show for it.

3/4 on these babies :D (45% moon)
went THF/NIN MNK/NIN(tank) SAM/THF(me- hate control) SMN SMN WHM 61NIN(our LS good luck charm)
THF SA+SB'd then I SATA+TK'd for light to start fight, then we disengauge and MNK solo'd till it was under 50% (to minamalize hip-press) then we went all out till 10% and THF finished it off (melee for full TH2 effect supposedly)
easy fight with small numbers of people, although I've heard of allianced getting owned from feeding too much tp

if anyone disagrees with about them being endgame f*** you, jk, please reply with a better idea so that i can get the better boots

Did several runs with just a 75 rdm and 75 thf and a 75 blm for emotional support…he he

75 thf can easy take on the NM with no problem. Just take a 75 rdm to healin and the blm to sleep the repops if they do repop. Ive done this rutter run 14 times. Only time we had a death was whn nin was tankin solo and got one shotted after loosing shadow’s. I had to tank while whm raised. To everyone’s surprise I tanked allot better than nin. Don’t ask me why I just did, didn’t need to recast shadow’s as much just needed a haste to keep hate and recast time just in case. AOE stomp sucks but with a rdm and one other healer your pretty set. Once mob gets to 20% everyone can pretty much go crazy. Drop rate suks, but always bring extra air tanks. So far drop rate for me is 6/14. Good luck…

We did 2 runs for it:

1st run: Full Moon: 1/7.....

2nd run: 60% Moon: 5/7

Setup for 2nd run was:
1st pt: Pld, Whm, Rdm, Brd
2nd pt: Thf, Brd, Sam, Mnk, Drk, Nin

Pld solo melee, while Thf, Mnk, Drk, Nin get TP from RA (and Drk from Absorb-TP).
2nd brd cast dex etude on thf, mnd etude on mnk (Chi Blast) and INT on Drk + prelude on all.

Worked perfectly, only 1 accidental death.

And moon phase BLOWS!!! lol

Damn, I hate to hurt any who read this but I just got it 1/1 on this guy and im feeling great lol!... My 75 BST might use it over Marine F Boots but highly doubtful... but my 70 RDM would definatly like these at this point in time.. Wooot!!! Good luck to those going for it...

We went as 75 NINx2 75 RDM and I was a 71 blm.. killed all the monsters around the spawning point... NIN voked when I popped... I ran back but aggroed a goblin in the tunnel behind us -.- on my way running to the back line...(damn it)... so I Sleep II(resisted)... E-Seal start casting sleepga II... RDM ends up sleep IIing it right before my casting and sticks .. damn!!... ;D... Fight continues, aggroing goblin stays slept pretty long time... just to help out the tanks I casted drown rasp and frost...;D(im a shock, burn, choke fan trust me).. the goblin stayed sleeping which was long enough for us to kill the NM... I threw in random nukes T3, W4, a drain and I mostly focused on keeping NIN's alive with RDM and the NM went down quick... his WS only went off like once or twice but thats b/c we just had 2 NIN's ;D woot! Stun when NIN HP went down and RDM and I cured NIN's back to full... Fight went smooth only drop was the Boots but was more than enough hehe. =).. Fight lasted 5-10 mins at max... thanks to Kyrshe(75RDM) Absinthia(75NIN) and Mephilas(75NIN) on Seraph Server for being there during that run power to you!!

Yeah, not too bad for certain solo situations. There are many better things you could be wearing for party-type scenarios.
Lucky!
# Apr 16 2006 at 10:40 AM Rating: Default
My luck is officially good AND bad. I have bad luck here and there but my luck with treasure is usually very, very good. Such is the case here with these rare armored shoes I found last night while fighting Bugbear Matman the wrestler. Funny story too, as I thought I would have to sacrifice and then be {Tractor}ed over to where they were. No... simply what you do is get the good NPC gambler to warp you to Mine Shaft #BCNM then exit... backtrack while sneaking around invisible... then head south at the fork in the road. You may need firesand to operate the turnstile at this fork in the road, once again, I got lucky with it. (; ! ... and show up just in time to help out my group.

The rate on these is like a very low 33% so I'm very, very lucky to get these on my first battle. These are the melee equivalent of the rostrums. Samurai like to use them (even though they are not eastern style wear they are in fact western looking armored shoe-boots) to increase their vitality and strength. They are ocean blue in color, very normal looking. However, if one looks VERY close at the front, you will see a tiny, sharp blackheart design on them.

You mean that move is strong enough to kill all shadows, stoneskin, and phalanx with protect 4 on by doing 600-700 Damage? How often does he do this attack? I hear if you have shadows up it will only kill your shadows off. If thats the case that would mean a RDM/NIN could still have stoneskin up after the attack. If Stoneskin is still up, especially with Phalanx on, a RDM/NIN could get a quick Utsusemi: Ni back on.

I think we RDM/NINs could definately melee with it, but I don't know enough about it to know if we can solo it.

Flying Hip Press is Not blinkable, and he does it anywhere between 1 and 3 times a fight (more often 3 times). In the 10+ times I've fought this NM I can't recall seeing him do it more then three times, but he does have a bad habit of doing it back to back during some fights.

As for drop rate, we went 2/5 on our first run, and 5/6 on our second.

Fought this guy a total of seven times with my LS on two different days.

Rutters dropped only on the 1st and 3rd times. We wiped once, on the first try the second day. Friend of mine on my LS is 0/3 on the rutters...sucks. Originally thought that the Rutters were a 100% drop -- was kinda funny when we thought our luck was so bad that even something with a 100% drop wouldn't fall for us.

Fought this NM couple days ago 4 times, first fight was kinda hectic assuming no one really done it before except for a few. Flying Hip Press bypasses shadows did about 600+ damage to our group (around 10 people or so). So yeah Earthshock and Flying Hip Press really suck. We didn't exactly have a real tank but we had a 2 MNKs one being a MNK/NIN that'd pretty much take the hate, spam cure everyone after Flying Hip Press. I'd say take this guy down fast as possible so build up TP with the mobs around the spawn point (if you're thf or /thf you can steal Platnium Beastcoins from these guys ^^) and go all out as fast as you can, AoEs really hurt.

Went as THF 66 at the time, if i was higher in level i'm sure i could've been more helpful in the actual fight, but mostly came to help the drop %. The boots rock ^^

Went a few weeks ago to kill NM. Was DRG NIN WAR BLM SMN WHM. Opened fight with 1k Impulse Drive > 1600 Steel Cyclone > 1600 Darkness > 1300 MB. Brought it down to about 43%~ or so. Really easy fight. Popped it twice, went 1/2 on drops.

I think SE might have changed the drop rate on this pair of boots. From previous posts and hearsay from friend who tried this NM, the drop would be around 33%.

I tried this NM about 2weeks back and went 1/1 on it. Pure luck IMO. Today I went to help out fellow LS mates who needed this pair of boots with 2PLD WHM SAM WAR DRG and BRD. Easy kill cept the Flying Hip Press could easily kill any Taru melee w/o full HP at lvl 75. A Single FHP would do about 680 dmg, so that brings Taru melees HP down real fast. I died on the 1st fight due to FHP and not being in the main PT.

We went 4/4 on the boots tonight, that makes me 5/5 on this NM. Either the drop has been changed to 100%, or I have been very very very lucky.

p/s: we dont even have TH2 for all the 5 fights, only /thf which has only TH1. Hope this info is useful for anyone who's trying out this NM. Good luck!
