Uleg Map & Gauntlet help
# Jun 29 2007 at 8:51 AM Rating: Decent
Just in case you need it, the ??? for the Uleg. Map quest is usually right near to one of the more usual pop spots for this worm. Bring your Moblin Hotrok at the same time and get two things done at same time. Just my two gilz worth to help.

Alot of HNM do really nasty magic damage making the jelly ring kinda not an option, i usaually put the gloves on and replace my jelly ring with hercules' ring to fill the gap.

Works, the bad part is, -3 enmity and slow of 3%.

#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 08 2005 at 7:31 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I will definately get this item. Slow +3% kinda sucks but who cares, you're a tank, you're not meant to damage deal. And as for the enmity -3, who cares, hehe, let the DRK take a hit, see how he likes it :0
Hmm.

I could see a use for this if a THF was SATAing off a WAR or DRK, especially for LV3 SC (Mistral -> Shark Bite or Spiral -> Evisceration). 3 less hate to lessen chance of mob turning away from the tank, and damage reduction if it does. Aside from that, though, this is definitely a situational piece with limited uses. Most paladins don't need 3% damage reduction in XP or regular play, although with creative use of macros and equipment this could be an okay HNM equip. It's the -3 hate that really damns the piece to be less flexible and effective in normal everyday play.
Hmm.

By THF, I assume you mean THF subjob? WAR/PLD/DRK only ;;

Situational I will agree. The only thing I could really think of would be if you wanted to pass hate to the co-tank. Equip these and you not only take less damage, you start shedding the emnity. Sorta like that glass case with the fire extinguisher in it: "Use In Case Of Emergency". Or, if you were a lower level PLD just filling a slot on an HNM run and mainly backup healing. =P Yea, that's me a lot of the time ;;

jelly ring = -5% physical dmg
earth staff= -20% physical dmg
heavy gauntlets = -3% physical dmg

total = 28% reduction in physical dmg

lets say byakko is hitting you for 150-200 a hit

28% x 150 =42 so thats now 108 instead of 150
28% x 200 = 56 so thats now 144 instead of 200

looks better to me than nothing at all. -3 emnity is nothing when you have a totale of +21 emnity in most circumstances as a pld in adaman.

i would much prefer a spread of 108-144 a hit instead of 150-200

I hope you dont plan on tanking Byakko in Adaman gear dude, because if you are it wont matter what -physical damage% you got, because you'll get tooled on.

You would be best off sacrificing any area of damage reduction where you can add a significant amount of +HP instead.

For instance Koenig Gloves or even AF gloves for pld over these, lol
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 05 2005 at 12:26 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This item is stupid, i see no use for it. No one wants slower attacks and spells, and who the hell needs a ridicously tiny -3% physical dmg received? If the mob hits you normally for 200, now it'll hit for ¡194! Isnt it a bit pathetic? If you are tanking you can equip any other hand gear that has some VIT or more def instead of this... only use may be a covard drk that is incredibly afraid about pull hate, so afraid that he prefer -emity than str, attack or accuracy bonus. Macro it? Bah. If the inventory had like 100 slots in where you can put all the trash you could macro.

This won't be as good for WAR as you might think.

If you wear it, you get the -emnity, so you probably won't get monster attention anyway. the -15% physical damage taken is then pretty much useless, unless you do somehow get monster attention.

What does Slow: 3% mean??
RE: Hmmmm
# Sep 04 2005 at 1:44 PM Rating: Decent
it says -3% damage not -15%. if it were -15%, this would be the most expensive item in the game. anyway, WAR has access to huge amounts of +emnity gear (AF body anyone??), so that isn't a terrible hit... However, -3% damage isn't good enough compared to other gloves you could be wearing instead. That's why I would say these arne't worth getting.

Slow:3% means that your attacks and spells are slowed by 3%

I might use these for my taru pld when it gets there... The -3% dmg would be really nice, seeing as right now I have no problems holding hate whatsoever.
for war,drk whatever

I just see it as a macro in if you get hate. That way you can continue attacking, take less dmg and create less hate until the tank gets it back. then switch out.

A war/nin or war/thf will like these because wars with those subs fall under the DD slot and would rather not pull hate, except when they have to with provoke. Dark knights get thick gear in 1 more level which is a much better choice than these gauntlets.. and plds... dont want these...

So this would truly benefit a DDwar or somewhat benefit a dark knight that pulls too much hate.

War gets thick too; not to mention that at this level R.K mufflers, Spiked finger gauntlets, AF and even Gigas bracelets serve a not tanking War better than theese, not to mention that even if the war is DDing, he is still the backup tank, so the mob turning to him once in a while is better than not being able to voke off the pld when he is in the red.
enminty -3?

I Play thf and ranger, so i can't be exactly sure, but wouldent a good use for these be for a DRK or WAR that dont want to take hate from the main tank, they could macro these gauntlets in when they were about to use a Wepon skill, sow the slow + 3 % wouldent be a factor, the Enimity - would give them less hate, and if they do get hate, leave the gauntlets equiped for the - 3% physical damage untill pld or nin gets hate back.

I agree tho, there are better gauntlets out there this lvl to equip for Wepon skills, but this could be used as an alt.

cant see much point for a pld to use them, unless they have so much ENIM + gear that -3 doesnet matter. Wonder if this -3 % physical damage stacks with the Jelly ring? that could make it worth while.

Just my thoughts on it.
