this is one of the 3 items you are offered after beating the Prime Diabolos.....well unfortunetely this ring will only work on darksday unlike the pole and earring which are effected by darkwheather making them perfect for Dynamsis events....so the ring is good for 1 hour out of the 8 day cycle in Vana.....thanks for the offer but I will have to pass having 297 darkmagic on my blm with some gear my aspirs and drains are very effective as it is without having to wait for one day to get a boost.....the Pole and Earring are my goals now that I finally beat the SOB Diabolos :)

You really don't lose any MP if you wait to use this till you're under 85% MP in the first place, when its actually worth it to Aspir. If you stay around 50% MP most of the time, this can be very effective.

NEVER i mean NEVER use this with a mage -15% is alot

RDM65, let's see... been eating Kuchen lately so let's go with 690 for an easy number.
690 * 0.15 = 103.5
So if I had that, and we ignored the next ten levels of MP boosts, plus MP+ gear available in those levels, as well as other food choices, etc.
I'd be left with 587MP. Or in other words, I'd only lose about 30-ish MP since Kuchen is giving me 75 anyway.

And I don't recall Vana'diel imploding and my spells ceasing to function last time I had less than 600 MP and didn't run out anyway, so...

I'll grant, that's as /BLM, but I assume "Eat food" still applies as RDM/DRK, so you can compensate for this job-destroying MP loss pretty easily.

Another idea: what's the worth of a RDM|BLM|WHM. . . with 5oooMP if he burns it in 2 fights and needs 15min to regenerate it? Especially Aspir is a mage's friend, Aspir can return 200+ MP being worth more then 500MP or more. You could also use a macro to switch in the ring for Aspir (who's the tard using aspir with full mp ? ).

Ergo: If you beat Diabolos and have/dont need the avatar, the ring is really something to think about. . .the only really sucky thing about this ring is "on darksday". . .
VERY good for mages of all types!

two points to contend with the previous posts:

1. This ring WOULD be good for a WHM/BLM that makes smart use of their aspir. 15 dark skill is huge, and since so many mobs in Dynamis (where you're guaranteed dark weather) are aspirable, this can keep you running like mad. Who needs 15% MP if you're always around 60-70% of full anyways?

2. This is killer for ANY RDM regardless of subjob. Again, if you can aspir back MP 15 skill levels higher than before, 15% less total MP is not important. You'll get it back many times over due to aspir.

Based on what I've read on RDM/DRK and Chainspell-Stun (mind you, I'm currently lving DRK for this purpose, no first hand experience on this one so bear with me) resists are rare and even if you resist some, the next one is coming fast enough. I don't think I'd use this earring for that situation, since MP is more critical if you can blast 2 or 3 more stuns for the MP loss. I could be wrong though, so if any experienced RDM/DRKs have thoughts, they'd be better suited to comment.
Good for DRK?

Sorry for the blank post at first, don't post much so I sometimes make silly mistakes.

Anyway, I can see where this ring would come in handy for DRK. DRK MP pool is limited in amount anyway (I have 330 on mine with a Balin's Sword), so the extra 15 Dark Magic Skill would be perfect for Stun, Drain, etc.

I would suggest creating a macro to swap this ring in whenever you cast Stun.

i.e.:

/p Stun --> <t>
/equip Ring1 "Diabolos's Ring"
/ma "Stun" <t>
/wait 3
/equip Ring1 "Sniper's Ring"

This may not be a perfect macro but this is the basic way to do it, it can be tweaked for specific time, latency issues, etc. Also, the Sniper's Ring is just the ring I would be using for Ring1, it will depend on the ring you are using, so if you are using a Ruby Ring, that line would read "/equip Ring1 "Ruby Ring".

Let me know what you guys think!

Good for DRK?

I would think of swapping this in more for Absorb spells than Stun. Stun appears to be effective w/o this ring so using it on the Absorbs may be considerablly more productive.
15 percent no big deal

The only times I'm at full mp are just after converts. The rest of the time I am almost always atleast 15% below maximum. This would help a lot with drains, aspirs, and absorbs.
The only bad thing is that I would rather be crafting on darkday.

Funny

Funny how this is for all jobs, when not all jobs have a dark magic skill. I'd like to see a paladin wear this, it'd be hillarious, or a white mage.

Still on Darksday it'd be fine for any blm/drk/rdm jobs out there. Still most people wouldn't like that -15% to mp..that is just murder on a person with a whole lotta mp, or someone with very little mp to begin with.

This ring looks perfect for RDM/DRK or BLM (on Darksday).
The -15% isn't too bad as long as you watch your MP pool.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 27 2005 at 6:22 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i will say this now.... NEVER i mean NEVER use this with a mage -15% is alot this only good for a crappy drk who dosent need mp

you're stupid. ever thought of waiting until you use 15% of your MP, then have a macro equip it?
