As per people arguing about the +3 and -3 accuracy:

I think they simply cancel each other out. Why? Look at the Unicorn mittens:

They normally have +8 attack, and the latent effect is +7 attack when your hp is white. So at full hp you get less attack (+7 instead of +8) instead of 8+7 (+15) attack? Don't think so.

You're right. Stats are additive.

All but Dark Weather: Accuracy +3 Magic Accuracy +0
Only at Dark Weather: Accuracy +0 Magic Accuracy +2

If this item could receive an augment that gives Accuracy +3 so it would read:

Accuracy+3
Dark Weather: Accuracy-3 Magic Accuracy+2
Accuracy+3

the stats would become

All but Dark Weather: Accuracy +6 Magic Accuracy +0
Only at Dark Weather: Accuracy +3 Magic Accuracy +2

It is special stats that are replaced. DMG and Delay ratings, for instance. Break the latent on Heart Snatcher, and the DMG:15 is replaced with DMG:30, not added for a total of DMG:45.

Stats say.
Acc +3

Dark Weather
Acc -3 M.acc +2

(Earlier post said m.acc +3 so slight correction. Doesnt seem bad for a mage in dyanmis.)

all of the items obtainable thru defeating Diabolos are comparable in structure to the items obtainable from defeating Fenrir, in that they all have on/off triggers.

so for all those that insist that during dark weather the total effect becomes "acc+0 m.acc+2" look at how fenrir items work.. on each one, there are two different effects that are triggered by day/night and you only get one or the other effects...

also of note, i don't believe that there are any items that work the way many are hoping this works with the same structure of these items.. any item that has a specific "condition: effect" overrides the default stats on that item.. in order for the conditional to be added to the default, it would have to be listed as a "Latent effect: effect" or not listed and be treated as a "hidden effect".. if i forgot an item or two that bends the rules, i appologize, i've been memorizing the updated .dat info for several years now and i'm bound to forget the occasional entry ^^;;
Acc-3

Unfortuently, the formula goes like this:

All weather but dark weather: ACC+3
Dark weather: ACC-3 (not ACC+3 - ACC-3)
Dark Weather: Magic ACC+3

You lose 3 melee ACC in dark weather, it doesn't cancel itself out. On a lighter note, I am a RDM who never melee's, so who the hell cares? I use this along with my Fencer's earring in Dynamis and all is right with the world.

out of curiosity, has anyone checked this properly, ie by checking how mobs' evasion con to you @ dark weather, and adjusting gear accordingly...?

I have never seen an item with Magic Accuracy before. I am 75 blm with Abyssal Earing and Moldavite Earing which are 2 great earings. Is this thing even going to be worth getting for me? If not, can someone at least tell me what Magic Accuracy does? To me it sounds like it would help against resists, but isn't that what elemental magic skill does?

After recieving Diablos after the first time, I chose these earrings next. My main job is Rdm, I'm currently lvling thf, where else can you get accuracy bonus for earrings?

This item is a win/win in my book.

Optical Earring +1 Acc -2 Atk Lv. 10

Assault Earring +2 Acc +5 Atk -2 Eva -3 Def (Limited jobs though) Lv. 58

Accurate Earring +2 Acc (All jobs, very rare. Only 2 sold in Jeuno on my server) Lv. 52

But still, this is a very nice earring.

Yes but what thf in their right mind would want an earring that lowers eva?
RE: My first choice
# Jan 29 2006 at 6:37 PM Rating: Decent
THF only needs eva if soloing. In a party its almost useless. I personally use a lot of -eva gear on my THF.

Look you get the +3 acc no matter what except in dark weather its -3 so 3-3=0 bonus but you get the magic accurancy but only during dark weather.

No, that's not right. it is -3 acc in dark weather, the +3 acc during non dark weather is negated completely in dark weather and the earring does become -3 acc. Sweet for mages in dynamis, sweet for melee anywhere else.

No, it is ACC+3 IN ALL WEATHER, so the -3 acc in dark weather cancels it out. How do i know? Because If it were what you said, then the earring would say All weather but dark-acc+3
Or sumthing along those lines
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 18 2006 at 2:44 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) to confirm i tested this...100 hits with earing on 100 without...did this in xarcabard during dark weather

don't care about this at all, but the way to settle this dispute is by checking mobs' evasion, low/high.

that doesn't prove anything... 100 is a small sample size. go do 10,000 mobs and then maybe you'll know something.

this looks cool and if ur in an area like qufirm the +3 acc is good but some of the best areas r Dark element so it kills it for melee but great for mages there

The only zones at all that have dark weather that I've been to are Ranguemont Pass, Beaucedine Glacier, Fei'Yin, Pso'Xja, Xarcabard, Castle Zvahl Baileys, Lufaise Meadows, Misareaux Coast, Phomiuna Aqueducts, and Sacrarium. I haven't been to The Shrine of Ru'Avitau yet, but since Somepage lists Dark Elementals as spawning there, I suppose that place can have dark weather too. Of those zones, Lufaise Meadows and The Shrine of Ru'Avitau are the only 2 people level in (and Lufaise Meadows not that often).

Dynamis is always double dark weather. Ru Avitau does not have dark weather. All elemental's are in Ru Avitau regardless of weather.

There's no downside to this.

In almost all zones of the game it's acc+3. In dark weather it's mag acc+2, as the acc-3 will just cancel out the acc+3, not affecting acc at all. That's pretty nice.
