They really need to add some HQ varieties to this synthesis, because farming this stuff is a pain in the backside as sheepskins are one of the rarer drops.

Can Sheep wool have a high quality result once your leatherworking is around 60ish? If you could get even 2 wools on a synth that would make these more profitable than Leather.

Just take a look at the date of the post. Everything in this game has increased in price, its natural inflation.

I just wasted 3k+ for a stack of rabbit hides in Sandy on Valefor. Since 1 mantle is 5 hides and a grass thread thats a fair loss for a early skill item. This would take me from 2-4 and at the same time alot me to profit from the final recipe since sheep skins are alot cheaper than leather.

this to me is one of the best ever items to synth. because when going to dem u can farm mary wich she rarley drops a 110k horn and u can get some bee chips wich are 3k a stack and u can farm the skins there to make wool.if i farmed in dem for one whole day i would make about 30-40k and if i got marys drop that would be a 110k.Well wool only takes up 1 wind crystal and 2 sheep skins and u only have to be like lvl 2 or 3 leather craft to make it.an easy way to make a good profit is farming there. that is the one and only place i farmed for 35 yes 35,35,35 lvls thats alot of lvls to be farming in one place.while u farm the skins and looking na eye out for mary and getting some chips there u can look for rams!rams!rams!they drop alot of the time like 2.5k or 3k worth of items and they spawn alot also if u wanna get sam in dem go get sam.im kinda getting off the subject but ya know farming skins and more than just skins all kinds of mobs there u can be smart read this and listen to me go to konscatt highlands wich i call dem cause i get tele dem there alot cause i prattically live there when i need gil.go to dem for sheep wools. bring about 4 stakcs of wind crystals if u know u want some gil if u make 4 stacks that=28k.wool rocks!!! ~~ in asura wool goes for 7k a stack make it happen become rich off of wools.

Xidus is right in my opinion.SO are you but you have to know that mary's horn isnt rare as you think. Its not over camped and bearly even camped, im 2/5 on the horn and it spawns in 2 places at very close spawning time.SO one mary would spawn at one of the places then from 2-1hr another will spawn, i hear people say that the second one spawned in less than 5 minutes. The horn isnt all that rare.If it was it would be worth over 100k and its not from the last time i checked

He means 'rare' as in the icon on the item that says you can only carry one. So in other words it would be useless to camp Mary for more than one horn, since you wouldn't be able to get a second one.

not knocking whoever said "rare" to being with, but i think it would make things a lot clearer if they said "RA" or "Ra" to mean you can only carry one (since that is what's put on the item iteslf) and then only said "rare" when they meant rare drop. but hten again, most people actually say "rare drop" when that's what they mean. wahtever. i guess it would really be simpler if SE used a more appropriate adjective than "rare"

If you go between the ramp that goes down to the canyon which leads to the "Front Door" of Ordelle's Caves, and the narrow pass to the lake, there's one spawn.

In general, you want to skirt the rims of all the canyons. That's where to good majority of the spawns are, if not all of them.

Short of that...hit lvl 30, buy some silent oil, and do the BST quest. They get widescan too.

Making wool thread as stated in the recipes.

Once one stops leveling up their skill from these, it is much more efficient to make sheep leather from the skins rather than making wool.
24 skins to make a stack of wool that sells on my server for 6-7.5k, or 24 skins that can easily (if you have any tanner skill at all) makes 24 sheep leather that would sell for more than that, for each stack.

Only reason to go back to making wool from the skins is to level clothcraft.

Actually, I don't think you're looking at the whole picture. You have to factor in the cost of the other materials as well as the sheepskins. A stack of dark crystals costs about 3.5k versus 1.5k for a stack of wind crystals on my server. Then add a stack of windurstian tea leaves, which is going to cost you around 250 gil a stack if you buy it from an NPC in Windhurst. If getting tea leaves in Windhurst isn't practical (which if you're at the San d'Oria tanners guild is sometimes the case) then you need to buy them from the AH, which on my server is 450 gil a stack. At about 9k a stack for sheep leather and 8k a stack for sheep wool, sheep wool is actually a little more profitable than sheep leather for me, although I prefer to craft some of each so as not to oversaturate the market.
