There is a lot of incorrect info about this staff, let me clarify.

Elemental Staves: -2 Avatar & Elemental Perp (To corresponding element)

HQ Elemental Staves: -3 Avatar & Elemental Perp (To corresponding element)

Bahamut's Staff: -3 Avatar Perp (YES IT effects Elemental Spirits.)

and SMN skill (post update) now effects avatar accuracy (both BP and melee)

With Bahamut's Staff, Summoners only need to carry:

Bahamut's Staff
Light Staff
Dark Staff

Those are the only weapons they need to carry. Only other reason is for a melee staff(hope, carbuncle's pole, martial staff, etc,.)

If you can't find out why light/dark staff, quit playing a mage.

I do wonder is bahamut is summonable?

Its sounds complicated to get it there but the fight might be harder than it looks. If your able to get it what is the best possible setup for it? i heard that u stun it it uses the special attack or something like that. I doubt that I got the gear and lvl to get it.

I know that mages and melee type is usually the best for them

Paladin 75
Red mage 65
White mage 72
Summoner 61
Black mage 62

I think its there is also good jobs to make some dmg or stunner type

if you have any info to make good dd or stunner please tell me ^.^

any job will do.

I dont mind lvl other jobs to support it but the ideas i just need to get from anyone that is all :)

A lot of people have wondered if this is better than the elemental staffs for summoner. Prior to the update i would honestly say elemental staffs are better due to extra stat increases that might stack the deck slightly in thier favor (minus of course inv. space.)

HOWEVER, with the summoner upgrade as of lately, A 75 summoner with capped summoning magic would much rather use this staff. Its compact and provides same -3 perp. as HQ elemental staffs but it has the bonus of +5 Summoning Magic. AKA, you get the "Beyond Skill Cap" benefits that go along with the staff. This means better avatar accuracy and longer buffs if your magic skill is capped. So honestly this staff is better for the avatars while the HQ Elemental staffs are better for the Summoner him/her self. Just my two cents.

im sorry but you are incorrect. SMN skill does not effect avatar attack accuracy evasion or anything of the sort. it does effect your interuption rate while summoning and it does effect how often elementals cast magic and it also effects as of the recent update, a select few bloodpacts to have better effects. however NONE of the damaging attacks were given any bonus. smn skill is still worthless.

I beg to differ. SMN Skill is far from worthless. You forgot to mention one of the most important uses, Elemental Siphon. Your SMN skill effects how much MP your drain from your Spirit when using Elemental Siphon.

NOT WORTHLESS

This is incorrect. Check

http://www.playonline.com/pcd/update/ff11us/20061017UJ0a71/detail.html

and you will find

"-Blood Pact will now receive different effects when the value added by equipment or merit points exceeds the skill cap for that level.
*Players can experience increased accuracy when using Blood Pact: Rage or lengthened effect durations when using Blood Pact: Ward"

No offense Quadraxis, but i would suggest you do some research before you state something harsh like "smn skill is still worthless".

# Nov 19 2006 at 3:56 PM Rating: Default
Ok so this is a bc that takes place in Riverine Site #B01.
How many ppl needed, and what item or qualifier is needed to enter the
bc?
so how do I get this

This is from the second battle with Bahamut. It is a fight very similar to Kirin but instead, Bahamut summons his lesser wyrms during the battle. Jormungand, Vrtra, Ourya, Tiamat. Don't worry, while they are still a significant threat if not dealt with properly, like Kirins pets, they are much weaker than the originals. Jormungand can be taken on by a few BLM with a RDM/DRK CS stunning if that says anything ^^

To get to this battle you have to beat Bahamut in the standard alliance fight which is available after defeating Promethia in COP 8-4. Afterwards you need a Cloud Envoker to gain access to Ouryu Cometh (alliance battle with Ouryu). Ouryu drops a Monarch Orb. You use the monarch orb to gain access to the final fight with Bahamut. I have never heard the person limit on this fight but I think it is 64, like Dynamis.
Perp Minus (Weapon)

(Update to post below:)

Dragon Staff: -1 Avatar & Elemental Perp

Elemental Staves (8 inventory slots): -2 Avatar & Elemental Perp

Astral Signa: -2 Avatar & Elemental Perp

HQ Elemental Staves (8 Inventory Slots): -3 Avatar & Elemental Perp

Bahamut's Staff: -3 Avatar Perp

Astral Signa would be a great item to carry around if you don't want to buy all the HQ Staves... Personally, I hope to get the Astral Signa and Pluto/Apollo Staves... (since we use light/dark elementals the most.. maybe HQ Wind) until I can get my Bahamut's Staff.

Just thought people would want to see all their options.

I think i just became interested in this staff again then. For the record though, anything a summoner summons is an avatar, spirits included. The merit point menu and relic equipment remind us of this.

Terrestrial avatars= carbuncle, fenrir, bahamut, etc.

Celestial avatars= ramuh, titan, garuda, shiva, etc.

Elemental avatars= all spirits (refer to relic spats and merit point menu option)

Actually, this staff DOES affect Elemental Spirits. Just like every other "Avatar Perpetuation cost" reduction gear does.

Are you sure?

My Evokers ring says "Avatar Perpetuation Cost -1" and still reduces my Spirits MP cost by 1 (Just tested with Light Spirit)

with no effect on elemental spirits, i'm almost less in a rush to get this now. I guess the +5 smn skill is an ok compensation for the fact that it diesn't effect elemental avatars(spirits).

If i do get one of these i will still be keeping me elemental staves with me to keep my spirit cost at 6mp/tick. Either way i'll end up carrying an extra item with me =/
RE: ugh
# Apr 25 2006 at 7:52 PM Rating: Default
spirit does not = avatar.

Carbuncle, Fenrir, Diabolos, Ifrit etc. = Avatars

Light Spirit, Dark Spirit, Fire Spirit etc. = Spirits

This staff owns for summoner plain and simple.

RE: ugh
# May 29 2006 at 8:28 PM Rating: Default
Actually from my understanding Carbuncle, Fenrir and Diabolos are terristial/celestial avatars, Titan, shiva, ifrit, garuda, leviathan, ramuh they are the true elemental avatars, and the elemental spirits are well spirits of the elements i would assume. =D
Waiting on Wopa ^^

ok, where's our fashion shot Wopa? ^^

Looking forward to another Bahamut v.2 smackdown this weekend. Very fun fight and I will especially enjoy tearing him a new one for not dropping an equally cool item for BLM.

My group just won this BC in 1/3 and got the staff 1/1.

It is a 50% chance of appearing along with Dragon's Staff.

Can't really count the first round as several members did not get into the BC lol. Besides, we did not even use any meds. :p
The first "Real" run we got it down to 15%, and won it the 2nd time.

1 Staff vs. 8 Staves

Just a little FYI to anyone curious about this staff for avatar perpetuation versus Elemental Staves and their HQ counterparts:

Elemental Staves: -2 Avatar & Elemental Perp (To corresponding element)

HQ Elemental Staves: -3 Avatar & Elemental Perp (To corresponding element)

Bahamut's Staff: -3 Avatar Perp (NO effect on Elemental Spirits.)

This, however, is a VERY nice alternative to buying a whole HQ set. It also frees up a lot of inventory at 75 (Though you should still have Dark and Light staves on you at all times as SMN) Further, It reduces Diabolos' perp cost in addition to the other 8 Elemental avatars.

(Yes, the elemental staves give 10-15% increases to spells cast of that element, but that shouldnt matter too terribly much so long as you're not casting Black Magic... If there are any results that point to Elemental Spells cast by avatars [i.e. Shiva's Blizzard IV] having higher damage with Staves Equipped, I havent seen them. Evidence to the contrary is always welcome ^^)

Edited because... damn I can't spell.

Don't forget the Astral Signa!

It's basically all 8 NQ staves in 1, only for avatars I believe and not spirits.

Leveling up Summoner and this would be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO nice to own. I mean what could you possibly NOT love about this staff?!?!?!

Except that even at 75 you still need to earn exp, especially with all the dieing you'll be doing in Dynamis. And then you have merit point earning... :P

Um... Where in the first statement do you hear anything about experience earning and/or merit points? All that was said was that this staff would own for SMN. Don't post replies that have no bearing on the topic.
