En-spell vs. Added Effect

Does anyone who has this know if it affects built-in added effect damage?
For example, will it raise the added damage from Sirocco Kukri or Vampiric Claws, or does it only kick in when you have an En-spell active?

I'm planning on getting one of these myself, but would be nice not to get my hopes up that it works on SK before I have it if it doesn't work that way. X-D

I got this for my DRK. It's a little more accuracy and DEX for more crit happiness. Ethereal was my first choice, but since my other L75 jobs don't have MP and I already have a coral earring which has higher attack+ I decided this one would be better suited for times when accuracy was more important than sheer damage (ie. Besieged).

The problem with these earrings is that there are usable alternatives for most of their features. So unlike the DM earrings, if you pick one you don't have to regret it later cuz you can always buy one that has similar abilities. Like if you picked Ethereal and decide later you REALLY wanted a Hollow, just buy a Fowling Earring, it's very close to the same thing -.-;

No rdm should be getting this... +3 damage on enspells for the rare and unimportant times where you are meleeing is crap compared to magnetic earring's conserve mp bonus, which helps you at all times, no matter what you're doing.

You must really be terrible at soloing to not realize the benefit of this earring. Perhaps some RDM out there enjoy soloing and doing assault more than other activities? There are all sorts of other beneficial magic earrings. I'd much rather have this, it blows other meleeing earrings for RDM away. Consistent +3 dmg is extremely useful.

The problem being that if you have the capability to get this earring, you can probably get better ones.

Brutal Earring, for example, definitly beats this out.

Not for a meleeing RDM it doesn't. The +3 spell enhancement damage is massive, it may seem small but trust me it adds up. I easily destroy the damage of other melee classes on elementals etc, this makes the avatar fights quite a bit faster too. AND, it helps on normal mobs your meleeing too, it adds up to quite a bit in the end. And the ACC and DEX don't hurt either. And this was brought up elsewhere but despite the name it still affects enspells no matter what weapon its on ~ This is a super old pic from just after I got it to confirm this but w/e.

So what if what I'm replying to is two years old.
Although I understand the merits of getting a magnetic earring, I also completely agree with Ramsey. The +3 to enspell damage is really quite wonderful for rdm/war, rdm/drk, rdm/nin. Think about this. A red mage wearing duelist tights AND this earring.....
Not only are you getting around 12 damage, maybe more from your blaze/ice/shock spikes, but you're also throwing out between 18-22 elemental damage per hit. That in itself gives you great damage over time, and like he said, it REALLY adds up. Weapon skills put aside, this setup really gives other DDs a run for their money.

There is only one earring better for THF and that's the Pixie earring. You cannot replace the Hollow Earring or the Pixie Earring with the Brutal Earring. Why? Because if you're using the Brutal Earring over either of those you're gimping your SA damage. Unless maybe you're not using equipment macros; then you're just gimping yourself completely.

well i have a ridill and since my acc sux (48 acc but only 215 sword skill) cuz of my gimp sword skill i think its still worth it, to think that its only good for RDM is unfair since 3/4 stats are perfect for THF

Step 1: Complete all the Rise of the Zilart Missions.
Step 2: Complete all the Chains of Promathia Missions.
Step 3: Defeat Bahamut.
Step 4: Climb the 3 30-cap Promyvions again.
Step 5: Beat a BC in Empyreal Paradox.
Step 6: Choose this earring of the four offered in a CS in Norg.

Piece of cake.

This is sarcasm, lol. I'm picking Magnetic earring, anyway, much better for a RDM75 BLM75 that's only a lolmeleerdm situationally. But if one was serious about RDM melee, this would definitely be the way to go.

Seriously? Doesnt sound too hard... XD On ZM14 and CoP4-2
RE: O...M...G....
# Mar 23 2006 at 2:17 PM Rating: Decent
It's alot harder than it looks.

It takes 1 month MINIMUM to get from 4-2 to the final CoP battle, usually two to five.

Bahamut is a pain in the ***. I know a friend who is 0/21 fights on him. Giga Flare HURTS.

Climbing the 30-promies.... meh. Not to hard.

Final battle... well it's easier than Bahamut but...

Yeesh. Bahamaut #1 is a joke >_>; just get some blms, some rdm/drks, and pick up any other random assortment of healers tanks and DDs. We killed him before he could even use giga flare. stun ftw.

I found the bahamut battle to be quite a bit easier than the final apoc nigh one (using a pretty standard alliance setup for bahamut also). Lost to bahamut once back when it first came out (but we went in with only like 15 people just to check it out and maybe get lucky). Tried it again later and beat it pretty easily. Try CS stunning it to avoid gigaflare (it only uses it when it's around 10% or so, apparently). We killed ours before he got it off.

On the other hand, the last BC has beaten us a bunch of times. It's really dependent on luck. Without spoiling anything, the little enemy usually goes down okay after a melee zerg, then if we're still up we fight the bigger one and if we're hurting we die and reraise. Either way, the bigger one always seems to get off a few quick hits followed by his tp move, which one shots our tank/kiter.
