Ranger: The Shooting Range
from a 75 PLD and an aspiring RNG, I say we form a mutiny against SE.
ban together all the rangers and supporters on all servers
and issue a mandate, undo the patch by so and so date or content ID's will begin to cancel. Im figuring around 250 per server, figure in a mule for that and its 500 per sever, So that comes to around 214,000.oo a month. and that my freind will cause them to undo the patch and email us all a fooking bazooka

As I have already posted, (and got flamed for it) I am ready to quit right now. Not because rangers are gimped and my 20 million in gear is going to be worthless in a week, but because SE is ripping us off. Rather than add endgame content, they are trying to get us to keep playing longer by making the endgame stuff harder. The easiest way to do this was to ruin the best engame job... To temp you to go ahead and level a new job, they are giving you the NPC Buddy! Booooo!!!
I phoned SE, they told me to call PoL, I called PoL they told me to email, SE at the link the OP provided. I will send the email tonight since I am at work and my user ID is maditory for the email to be sent.
How many people owe their Kirin's Osode to the help of friendly rangers? How many rangers have done the Promyvions 20+ times to help everyone else.
Please take the time to write a short email to SE and let them know you feel this "patch" is unfair.

Already done, I too am ready to quit...I would have prefered RNG become an unavailable job choice than play it the way it is...and I'm not in the mood to level a new job when I've spent the last number of months playing RNG. I really don't want to quit because of the time invested, but theres no reason to play now. Also, the other thing bothering me..in another thread someone mentioned they were gonna quit and he got flamed...why the $(*# does anyone have the right to flame someone for that? When your job is nerfed this bad you'll understand. Rangers lost so much from this...time spent leveling (Granted a lot of rangers get to 70+ very quickly, but its still a lot of time invested), tons of gil goes into the job that we can never get back, bah I've lost the will to even go on =P, its all stuff been posted on these boards 100+ times already anyway that people don't care about.

I was thinking that someone should set up a website where we can coordinate everything from. Get people to sign petitions... schedule simultaneous mass suicides in lower jeuno throughout all the servers, and finally threaten to cancel our accounts if we aren't heard.
Anybody up for the challenge?
Anybody up for the challenge?
I'll do it. Today I got killed by a mob 15 lvs below me because I kept missing. Piercing arrow and barrage missed. The reason we do more dmg is because we pay to do that dmg. BLMs, WHMs, and RDMs, ect. yes you pay for your spells but once you do you have them. A stack of bullets does not come back. I know I am only a 42 rng I know I am still new, but I would like to think I am a good rng. I pay attention to hate and know how to time my attacks, but at this point its just not worth it.

Does it still count when for some Rng's the going rate was 100k each for mea dem etc. I never bumped into these rangers you speak of.
I did meeet a few that were kind enough to tell me that their time is money. Yes they do have to buy ammo. Unlike the rest of us that just leveled the "cheap" jobs, you know like mnk.
Lately there wasnt really any point even sending a tell to many rangers..you could guess at the likely response and save your self some typing.
But yes i see your point..if you asked on the right day when the moon was full and the sky blood red i am sure they would have said "sure would love to join you and ty for offering to pay for my ammo thats more than i really need" :)
Thanks for reading.

Um...
How many people evidently failed to farm up the animas for the NMs in the Promys, hence negating the need for a "specialised" party.
You sound like a person with a car giving free taxi lifts to people who failed their driving tests because they didn't have any lessons.
Sure it's nice to help out on the Promys, but my first request would have been (as a RNG or any other job), "Let's go farming first".

Guys, I think you all have valid points. But please lets not hijack the thread. This thread is supposed to address the nerfing issue and how to apply some pressure to get SE to ease up.
NOTE: I was completely for the nerf when I first heard about it. I thought it was a welcome change, so that other underappreciated jobs could get the spotlight.
I believe that TRUE balance comes when every DD excels with some mobs, and has his own place in some but not all HNMs, Gods, Wyrms, Land Kings etc... instead, they nerfed us so bad that now we get outdamaged by most, we suck with SC, we suck with kited mobs, we suck a soloing, and don't even tell me about ballista. We're bad at everything now... AND WE HAVE TO PAY GIL FOR IT!!
The purpose of a nerf is so that EVERY job has its specialty, and excels in some things and not everything. More power to DRKs, SAMs, DRGs, MNKs! But don't wipe RNGs off the map like SE has done.

The "Rangers" here, so called, are @#%^ing morons.
Try playing the game, and learn to find the "sweet spot" on a mob.
Try /equip'ing more Ranged Attack gear and eat accuracy sushis.
Widescan is priceless. So is Shadowbind.
I'm Samurai and Ranger, I designed my character to fight HNMs with both of these jobs feeding on each others skill sets.
If you call yourself "Ranger", and whine about some little patch that makes us fight smarter by using "Range" on targets to gauge our damage, than I suggest you go cry to your Pastor instead of bitching at a goddamn game.
<^> Pussies.

I agree with you that by playing more intelligently you can reduce the damage deduction. and about widescan being priceless. it would have been a very intelligent post and maybe more people would have listened to it, had you not made it personal.
sure whining is annoying, but theyre not complaining to you and if it bothered you, you did not have to read all of their posts. perhaps next time when you have something intelligent to say, you should just say that part and not include the profanity and anger issues. if you get this mad at strangers, i suggest you seek profeassional help.

I agree with Ahliran. As more time passes and more and more testimonials surface on how skilled RNGs are adapting to the changes, as parses get posted showing that these same skilled RNGs are still king of DD, threads like these look increasingly foolish.
Where I disagree with Ahliran, though, is that the thread was obviously created in the heat of first impressions, and had been silent for 6 days before he posted. Oh well...

Help with promyvions? If anything I was excluded from them because I wasn't a RNG. Then I made it into a LS of people that aren't complete retards and we did the promys without any RNGs.
As for end game fun with them. Try playing a non uber job (non mage, brd, tank, or RNG) and you will see that with RNG the way they were any hopes of leveling to end game was impossible.
Or how about the time I went along for BCNM40 steam sprouts and got booted for a RNG who asked if he could replace me. Yes, he specifically asked if he could replace the DRG. Thank god though they messed up, got slept, tank got flooded and it was close to a full wipe.
The grass is green on your side of the fence, but from where I stand I can see I sign that says, "Keep off the grass."
And guess what? People are still getting osodes, and it's taking less time then it took pre Ranger Fantasy XI, but more time then RFXI. Now there is a chance for other DD jobs to get slots in parties and possibly make it to end game rather then being stuck on eternal party seek.
At first, I thought the patch was too harsh but with the way most (not all) RNGs are acting about it I think you guys got off light.
If you ran your parsers before the nerf you would know many classes could out damage you (they would have to be exceptional to outdamage a good RNG). True, the great RNGs were always amazing but guess what? The numbers are almost the same. RNG still do damage and some are actually doing more by firing off more shots because they don't get hate as fast.

I have to agree. I implore you to quit the game. You don't know how to play a job that suddenly requires more skill than it used to so please leave. FFI-XI has always required skill to play, you have to guage your attacks, you have to think about what is the most effective strategy. This so-called "nerf" has got the RNG loving players to stop and think about what is going to make them most effective from this point on. They aren't on the forums trying to start a coup against SE. They're trying to make lemonade, so to speak. Start your petetions, get all the other failed RNG's together and leave, it will be a nice change of pace to not see these pages filled with bitching, moaning and complaining. Please take a look at the DRG's forums, granted some still continue to gripe(and this has solved absolutely nothing) but most have only concerned themselves with the best way to BE EFFECTIVE in a pt and rebuilding their reputation as DD's.
To those that have decided to push on and make the best of this, you have my utmost respect. It may not mean much but you are the ones that make this game worth loading up everyday. :)
