Summary

In order to pull itself out of debt, the Manustery has decided to carry out "Legendary Plan B." They want you to gather a Revival Tree Root, a Wolf Hide, and a Luminicloth, that nocturnal monsters drop, so they can make charms to sell to trekkers.

Walkthrough

You must first do the The All-New C-2000 and A Greeting Cardian quests. If you just completed the A Greeting Cardian quest, you need to zone out and back in before you may activate the quest. Talk to Kopuro-Popuro who asks you to collect some things for him. He needs a Revival Tree Root and Luminicloth, which drop from various undead, and a wolf skin, which drops from hounds.

Was wondering how much fane you need to get this quest. Talked to the guy that starts it over and over and all I get is the Cardian 2000 quest, which I've done like 20 times now. Was wondering how to get it and how to see my fame so I can know if I have enough.

I was wondering how much fame you needed for this quest? I've done the other prerew quests but every time I talk to the guy he just gives me the Cardian 2000 quest. Must have turned in that quest 20 times by now. How do you get this quest and how can you check your fame so I know how much I have?

when i really needed to get fame quickly for my aspir/warpII quests, i bought all the flutes in Bastok, sent them all to myself adn traded them in windy to a guy in windy walls ( i think) he's the guy who wants all the mandy stuff. its a break even venture for buying the items adn getting the reward, but its fast (no need to zone).
note: i think bastok has to be 1st among nations to buy the flutes in the bastok music shop.

I just need an opinion on the quests that give you the most fame. I currently need a life belt, valkurie mask, and sniper ringx2 for my DRG, and I have 136k -.- I'm trying to get enough fame for the Aspir Quest, but I'm having trouble.

The best way to make fame is having a lot of quests, not stupid 6 quests with hundreds of repeats... why? because you actually see the game's true story and feel... why cut corners if you're already playing the game? it's just stupid... there's just NINE levels of fame (for whoever was saying they had fame 30... ¬¬') and i got fame 9 of everytown WITHOUT REPEATS (fame 8 in Bastok, missed some stuff)... that's about 140+ quests but i feel i enjoyed the game much more than all those doing the repeatables hundreds of times over... and yes, this quest calls for Lv 3 fame, at least some people are actually paying attention...

Cause really, no one needs too ^_^, that's why there are repeats. Good for you for finishing 140 quests, but you don't need to tell everyone else how to play their game. You play the way you feel like, we'll play how we feel like ^_^.

You do get more benefit than simply 'seeing more of the game' by doing multiple different quests...

The initial completion of any quest appears to give more fame than a repeat.

I agree, you get more out of doing new quests, but I also agree that repeatables are necessary. I've had the damndest time trying to get Windy fame. So, for those who want a shortcut: I buy the AH out of twinstone earrings (~900-1k) and sell them to Gioh Ajihri (K-5 Woods) for 900. It's often break even and fairly easy. The sucky part is having to zone back and forth. ^^

Quests actually have variable value. It would be more accurate to the norm to say that repeated quests are worth close to 20% of the normal quest value. Sometimes this is higher, or lower. Higher value on a repeated quest is very rare. Lower.. more oft than you would suspect.

Some quests are worth more fame than others.

SOME quests will ACTUALLY SUBTRACT FAME.

"Blackmail" (I think that's the name) in Sandy will lower your fame...you have to carry around envelopes and castle blueprints (rare ex) and crud...the reward kind of stinks too, so don't worry about it.

Not sure how everyone is counting their "30 fame" and such... I've been going by the levels reported by the npc's, and that seems to be a pretty good measure.

Anyhow, tried to do the quest today while at fame "level 2" i suppose you could call it... when the fame npc says:

"<Name>? Hmm...sounds familiar. Who was it again? Oh. Well uh...not many people know who you are, but if you work hard enough, word will get around about your good deeds."

And could *not* get the quest. Did the sardine quest a mind numbing 24 times, and my fame was "level 3" --

"Ah, <Name>, I've heard of you. Just keep up the hard work and more people will get to know you."

At this point I was given the quest.

It is weird, I have only done 23 quests and I got it. I think that different quests are worth different amounts of fame.

yep.

example:
Sardine quest gives you small amounts of fame. (maybe because it's easy?)

other quests give you more fame (probably because they're harder) i wouldn't be surprised if you could get "level 2 fame" from doing only 6 quests

Getting fame in Windurst
# Dec 02 2003 at 5:50 PM Rating: Default
A very good way to gain fame in Windurst is to do the "Something Fishy" quest in Port Windurst. The guy asks for bastore sardines. The shop behind him sells them for 45gil, the quest nets you 70gil. As long as you can stand the mind-numbing boredom of zoning after each time you complete the quest, it's a fabulous way to raise fame.

Where can you check to see how much fame you have?
RE: fame?
# Dec 03 2003 at 1:59 PM Rating: Decent
You can check your fame from a Tarutaru sitting at a table in Timbre's Timbers in the north part of Windurst Waters.
They will give you a message about your level of fame in Windurst, but not an exact number.
fame farming reason
# Nov 25 2003 at 11:00 PM Rating: Default
Nah. In all three of the presented methods to farm fame, you will likely get all money that you put out back from the quest. However, it is better to use the mandragora-mad quest because you only have to trade in one item at a time. If you are doing a quest for which you must purchase multiple items, then you are not guaranteed to get all your money back. In the example of the crawler culler quest, you could buy 2 of the calculi for 200g. Then there's the possibility that the third would be priced at a higher rate. With the mandragora-mad quest, you are assured that you can pay only the ammount which you will be receiving from the quest as you only have to buy 1 item for each instance of the quest. The only way to have a secure price with multiple item quests is to buy in sets of 12. Then you know how much each item costs by itself.

even cheaper fame I think is the lipstick quest where you give her two remi shells or 3 behive chips. The girl next to the apthocary shop in woods does this one.

The Teachers pet quest is also good, 1 bird feather 1 2 leaf mangora, to bad you only carry one those at a time.

better way to farm fame imho is to buy cornettes because they tend to sell for less than 200g. Also, you're never really sure if you're going to get all 3 calculi for 200 or under so you might end up stuck either with 1 or 2 calculi or with having to pay extra for it. Cornettes being single items ensures you're paying only 200 or below unless you want to pay higher.

Hmmmm, you gain fame from repeating quests? Ah! A get-famous-quick scheme! It requires a bit of Gil, but you'll gain it all back. Just buy as many Crawler Calculuses (Calculi?) from the Auction House as you can. Then, heft them over to the Dhalmel Farm and trade them in sets of 3 to the dhamelherder (Sorry, I forget her name, but she stands by the fence on he north side of the Dhamel Farm). A Calculus usually goes for 200 gil a pop at the AH, but since you get 600 gil every time you give her 3, you break even...do it enough, and your Fame in Windurst should shoot thru the roof!
