Summary

Koru-Moru wants you to find him a rough black stone, for some spaced-out reason.

Description

Kill rarabs in the Sarutabaruta plains until you receive a Torn Epistle.

Koru-Moru will smell the scent of his love in the letter you are carrying and asks for a rough black stone. Kill crawlers until one drops a Meteorite and then bring it back to Koru-Moru and he will give you a reward.

Torn Epistle
# Jan 28 2004 at 2:59 PM Rating: Decent
I killed rarabs in East Sarutabaruta for two hours without getting this to drop b/c of directions given in 'The Postman always KOs Twice.' I went into West Sarutabaruta and the first rarab I killed dropped it. Don't waste your time like I did... lol I was a level 8 thf and attacked a worthless rarab right outside of the Windurst Waters gate.
Repeating

if you want to REPEAT this quest, you will need to give Ambriose ANOTHER Torn Epistle FIRST.
What to do
# Jan 14 2004 at 4:27 PM Rating: Default
You need the letter to get the quest not the item.
The item can be found near starfall rock killing crawler at any time. It's a rare drop, took me a while to get it. But i don't my deafting crawlers and getting silk instead :-)

I got this quest before I got the torn letter. I don't think you need it.

FYI, the "Tattered Love Letter" is actually a "Torn Epistle" dropped by Savannah Raharbs. The description of Epistle says "..this torn envelope appears to contain a love letter addressed to a man." Happy questing!

For crying out loud, it's NOT A SMOOTH STONE.

A Meteorite, which is a rare drop from crawlers on Starfall Hillock in W. Saru fufills, the quest, NOT A SMOOTH STONE.

I'm sorry, that's impossible. The Mandragoras do not drop the Meteorite. The ONLY way to obtain the meteorite is to fight crawlers directly around the Starfall Hillock. Period.

You must've fought one before or during the fight with a Mandragora, because they DO NOT drop the meteorite. Period.

#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 23 2003 at 8:48 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Funny, the quest desctiption says "Koro-Moru asks for a rough black stone." So is it a rough black stone or a meteorite? The stone is a rare item from crawlers that's used in the quest "In a Pickle" in Windurst Waters and the reward is a bone hairpin.

I just happened to notice something when I did this quest. Usually when the NPC wants a specific item and they tell you the exact name of it (i.e. Crawler Calculus) the name of the item is in green.

For this quest, he says, "rough black stone" and it's in purple. And what he really wants is a "meteorite" so maybe the clue is that when the name is in purple, that's just a description of what they want and not the exact name of the item.

The only thing that will work for this one is the meteorite, not the smooth black stone, that's for the In A Pickle quest.

The item for the "In a Pickle" quest is a Smooth Stone, not a rough black stone. Get your facts straight, especially since they're on this website. The required item is a meteorite, as it says in the description for this quest.

No Quest Needed
# Dec 03 2003 at 12:26 AM Rating: Decent
I'd just like to verify you absolutely do not need the quest to get the stone. After my 6th re-roll, I accidently came upon the Meteorite killing a Crawler near the hill between the West exit of Walls and the outpost.

I did not have the quest or the letter. I am level 12 and upon bringing the stone to the npc found he would not give me the quest. I suspect it is because I am a warrior and the quest item cannot be used by my job. When I get my RDM Subjob, i'll try again.
RE: No Quest Needed
# Dec 03 2003 at 1:55 PM Rating: Decent
Koru-Moru will NOT give you the quest unless you have held in your inventory at any time a Torn Epistle which you can get off rarabs in West Sarutabaruta. It has nothing to do with your job. Just go smack the bunnies around until you get one. The Torn Epistle is a quest item for The Postman Always K.O.s twice, found here: .

Dropped off a crawler on the starfall hillock around 18:00, first crawler I killed while just running past. Figures after I spent 2 hours looking for it 5 levels ago and ended up buying the reward on auction house =P

Went to manor, talked to the guy, he gave quest (I guess I had the letter in my posession at one point as a newbie, you just need to have handled the letter.) Gave him the meteorite, quest finished.

He's in his manor at E7 in Windurst Walls, for all those who are asking.

I can't activate the quest

I have given the torn letter to Ambroise and I have in posession a meteorite. But I cannot activate the quest. Koru-Moru keeps on talking about flying and dragon stuff. >_<

Found like 3 and found them off of crawlers on Star Fall Hill at night time. Kinda makes sense don't you think...star fall, meteor, night time. I wouldn't bother hunting during the day.

Yeah, and it was my whm tarutaru that found it, that might be it too, he's closer to the ground, sees things drop better...heck, it was a whole party of tarutaru, we saw everything drop. :)

They only drop around the hill, but that includes the base. I've heard of people getting them right next to the outpost, almost at the eastern edge of the zone, or near the campfire north of the hill.

I've been stalking the hill for a couple days, and I've begining to get paranoid of going too far away from Starfall and not getting a meteorite.

Do crawlers still drop the meteorite at the base of the hill, or is that excluded from the drop area.

Any other uses for this that anybody has found? I've done the quest, and picked up another meteorite, but it won't repeat (predictably). Should i toss it, or is there another use for it?

ONLY drops in the sab with the fort. I can't rember if thats east or west.

But the muddy bar tab ONLY drops from the rabbits in the Sab out of Windurst Woods, the Love letter only from rabbits the Sab out of Port (with the fort thing in it).

And we all know the last two are in the canyon.

i could be mistaken, i did the letter quest a long time ago but im pretty sure ive gotten both bar tab and epistle in west saru as well as east. not that it really matters =D

I actually got the muddy bar tab off something in the Tahrongi Canyon the other day, to my surprise, so I am almost certain that there is no particular zone where you are most likely to find the pieces of mail.

Just kill everything in Sarutabaruta and you will get the torn epistle. Do the supply missions (you can get them from the WW at the gate who gives you signet) to the outpost and kill stuff along the way and you will most likely get one.

Meteorite
# Nov 17 2003 at 8:04 PM Rating: Default
Got a Meteorite today without having the quest active. I haven't turned it in because I don't have the torn note, and I don't want to risk losing the item if Kono doesn't accept it.

The item is in fact called a Meteorite, and drops off of crawlers. I got mine in West Sarutabaruta, off a crawler (decent challenge to an 8 whm) on the Star hill.

You don't lose items when the NPC doesn't accept it. So don't worry about that, I thought so too when I first started but it just stays in your inventory.

The only thing you do lose is the smooth stone for the "In a Pickle" quest because the lady says the first few ones you bring her aren't quite right.

I only got a Muddy Bartab (which was to the lost mail quest) but I've never seen a torn love letter, any clue if it only drops in a certain zone like the materite?
