Mission Orders

Visit the faraway nations of Bastok and Federation of Windurst and receive official recognition as an adventurer.

Walkthrough

The guard sends you to talk to Halver in Northern San d'Oria. He needs you to help out at Bastok and Federation of Windurst embassies. You can do this in any order.

Bastok

If you chose to start in Bastok, go speak with Pius in the office of the President. If you have done Federation of Windurst first, you will need to speak to the San d'Orian Consulate Savae E Paleade before going to see Pius.

You will be sent to Palborough Mines to get some Mythril Sand. First, check the Auction House to see if there are any Mine Gravel for sale. If so, buy it. If not, talk to Grohm in Metalworks and he will give you three Pickaxes. Just in case, you should buy some extras. They are sold by Boytz in Bastok Mines or at the Auction House.

Note: You must talk to Grohm to get a cut scene to be able to complete this mission.

In Palborough Mines at (F-7, first floor), you will find the Mythril Seam. Use the Pickaxe on the Mythril Seam until you get a Mine Gravel. (obviously you can skip this if you bought the gravel)

Once you get the gravel, find the Refiner on the third floor at (I-7). Trade the Mine Gravel to the Refiner and the machine will begin to work. Head to the machine on the second floor and pull the lever. You should receive an oz. of Mythril Sand. You can take a shortcut back to Bastok by jumping into the boat on the third floor.

Trade the Mythril Sand to Savae E Paleade.

Next, it's off to Federation of Windurst!

Next head to the ambassador in Federation of Windurst. He sends you to a tower in Windurst Walls to get a key. Zone into Heaven's Tower and speak to Kupipi to get the key and head off to Giddeus. At this point, you will need a full group. You can buy a map of Giddeus in Windurst Woods.

When you get to Giddeus you want to go to a burning circle located at G-12 in the southwest corner. Get ready for battle. Head into the circle and a dragon will appear. You need to defeat the dragon. After you do it, report back to the ambassador and then back to the guard and you gain rank 3 and 3,000 Gil.

Federation of Windurst

If Federation of Windurst is first, then you need to take a shield offering to Uu Zhoumo, the Yagudo NPC guarding the treasure room in the lowest part of Giddeus, then you have to fight Zhuu Buxu the Silent and retrieve 2 Parana Shields and trade them to the San d'Orian consulate. They tell you to go to Bastok next where you will get tossed around to different people until you are told to go into the mines. Go with a party to the 3rd floor and head towards the burnt spot on the map, and you will zone into the next part where you will find the burning circle. Then kill the Black Dragon and see the cutscene, head back to the San d'Orian consul in Federation of Windurst, they will complete you for their part and you just need to head on home to complete the mission.

Note that this mission is given in all three kingdoms, so you can group with anyone and still complete it.

Update Notes

As of February 14th, 2011, there is no longer a level cap restriction on the mission battlefield.

Zhuu's Location

Zhuu Buxu the Silent spawns in H-7. It's a sort of wider open part of the cavern there, if you walk east from the Treasure Room, passed the fork that leads south, then turn south when the cavern forces you to it's that larger area there.

Normally it seems that 2 worms & 1 persecutor spawns in that area, in addition to Zhuu. He spawns every 10-12 minutes, ALWAYS. It was very easy for my WHM 25 to solo him without problems. I even got a third shield to use for regular use ^^.

Off to Bastok with me now :(

Bastok Dragon on Titan
# Jan 30 2004 at 4:35 PM Rating: Default
Hi. I'm on Titan, and I started the Windurst quest first before reading this page. So I need to kill the Bastok/Palborough dragon, and I'd like to do it before I lvl past 25.

I'm a lvl 25 WAR named Snowfang on Titan. If you'd like to party up to kill the dragon, please e-mail me at cfactor@despammed.com and we'll setup a time.
What ore do you need?

I wanted to add that it isn't mythril ore you're looking for, you only need 1 chuck of mine gravel. I ended up getting a bunch of mine gravel because this wasn't outlined in the explination. Please add it. And 3 Pickaxes were sufficient for me but I ended up buying 12 because I thought I needed Mythril Ore.

Thanks,
- Kofka

i can't find the yagudo treasure room anywhere in Giddeus. Can anyone tell me where it is? Is it actually in Giddeus or is it where you fight the dragon. they say it's in the lowest part of Giddeus, but i can't get there. There is a wall in my way and i can't get past it. Is there a certain lvl you need to be or anything else i would need to complete this? I'm so lost right now, so i'd appreciate any help i can get. Thanks

You need to fall to a pitfall, which I can't recall the exact location. When you reach inside the cavern, there should be an area with bunch of grass, trying to step into them and you will fall down below.

i just fought the windurst dragon...it was a piece of cake with 5 guys ranging from 22-25 (25 is max lvl cap so if you are higher you will be reduced to 25, so make sure you have proper equipment) we just took out the dragon first and then the seeker, no one lost that much life. we beat it in about a minute once we started the fight... hope it helps =)

Can anyone be in the party to beat the dragon or does it have to be exclusively mission 2-3 members?

I have a problem with mission 6 in sandoria
I went to windhurst then to the consulate in there then to heavens tower got the shield offering went to the yaguda npc guarding the treasure room in lowest part of giddeus gave him the shield he toke it and told me to go I went to the burning circle and nothing happened it wont let me in I went back to tower and nothing happened went to the consulate mourices he told me:
Fool
You only handed over windurts magic shield to yagudo and skipped back leaving the balance of power skewed , such action would be considered treason back in sandoria.
Went back to tower nothing happens
Don’t know what to do
Can any one help

RE: cant get it
# Feb 22 2004 at 10:43 AM Rating: Default
-_- lol you have to kill 2 zhuu buxu the silents to get 2 Parana Sheilds from them they spawn sumwhere near the treasurey room in Giddeus then head back and talk to the consulate guy then u go to Bastok In palaborough and go to the burning circle there ^^
3 ppls can take the dragon
# Jan 20 2004 at 4:50 AM Rating: Decent
three RDMs take down the dragon without problems.
I sleep the dragon and the other RDMs take down searcher first. then we killed the dragon.
mining in pal
# Jan 16 2004 at 7:17 PM Rating: Default
you can buy the ore you need in AH and just skip the actual mining
Another thing
# Jan 12 2004 at 1:44 AM Rating: Default

My advise for the bastok mines is if you already have one ore dont break the others pickaxes for nothing you only need one ore to make one Mythril. You cant sell extra Mythrils at the AH because they are EX items, but you can sell the extra pickaxes.
Something else
# Jan 11 2004 at 7:52 PM Rating: Default

Theres something I consider strange no one has post it about, if you choose bastok first you do all you have to do, but when the moment to take the Mythril Sand comes there is a very strong orc down there, an imposible gauge so i think not even a full 25 party (max lvl in that cave) can beat him, I suggest jump from the left side of the top (the place you trade the ore with the machine) and you will fall on a platform not on the floor, you can see the orc from there just be patient until it moves.
I really dont think that orc is always there because is a low lvl area but who knows if you find it just evade it.

We took out the Bastok dragon with just 3 of us last night at level 25. 2 warriors and a white mage, he wasnt that hard and we were never in a position where we could have died he was hitting for like 22-35 hps but his special attack takes like 124 off. Just attack the floating eye first and once its dead use ur WS from TP of floating eye and first hits of dragon and then we both used our 2 hour, our white mage didnt get touched. Also disregard previous post bout building up TP on quadovs that doesnt work because you get zoned before you fight the dragon and everyone knows you lose your TP when you are zoned.
RE: Bastok dragon
# Jan 28 2004 at 2:43 PM Rating: Default
First of all the Bastok dragon is not difficult if you have a decent plan and stick to it.

1) Have the party fight quads to get their TP to max (good time to try for those Pal keys while your are there)
2) Heal outside the circle
3) Have the team enter the burning circle
4) After the cut-scenes make sure to send the main tank in first, have them provoke the dragon then disengage and have the whole team rape the Seeker with WS and a Renki if possible till it’s dead
5) Turn on the dragon, ‘voke again, and have your melee’s (preferably a monk or two) use their 2 hour.
6) Watch second cut-scene

I did this with: 24 MNK (me), a 22 MNK, 25 PAL, 22 BLM, and 24 RMG

That’s right no WHM needed and only 5 people.
Seriously people the dragon isn’t that bad, and if he’s so much harder than the Windy one I think I’ll go down there and solo him.
party
# Jan 06 2004 at 3:45 AM Rating: Default
i did this mission as war19/whm9.

other 5 in party were lv 20 - 25. We had no whm, but our rdm23/whm12 did a nice job on healing.

our plan was to put dragon sleep and kill the seeker first, but this did not work. So we had to kill both at same time :)

the hardest part with this mission was to get together a party of 6, but we talked to everybody in near areas who was still at rank 2 and helped them to get the mission and the dark key.
Re:WTF
# Jan 04 2004 at 11:48 PM Rating: Default
He told you to go and talk to someone in the tavern that the Galka who will tell you go to go the mines. If you want to you can add LopChaz and he will help you as he is a level 20 whm that is doing that part of the mission as well

You didn't get the letter from the Castle in San before you left. I had the same problem. Get the letter from an NPC in the castle in San d'Oria.
RE: wtf
# Jan 12 2004 at 1:31 AM Rating: Default

You have to talk with the Sandorian Consultant in Bastok and Windurst not the Bastok one. In other words once you get to those cities go to the Sandorian Embassy.
