Mission Orders

Visit the faraway nations of Bastok and Federation of Windurst and receive official recognition as an adventurer.

Walkthrough

The guard sends you to talk to Halver in Northern San d'Oria. He needs you to help out at Bastok and Federation of Windurst embassies. You can do this in any order.

Bastok

If you chose to start in Bastok, go speak with Pius in the office of the President. If you have done Federation of Windurst first, you will need to speak to the San d'Orian Consulate Savae E Paleade before going to see Pius.

You will be sent to Palborough Mines to get some Mythril Sand. First, check the Auction House to see if there are any Mine Gravel for sale. If so, buy it. If not, talk to Grohm in Metalworks and he will give you three Pickaxes. Just in case, you should buy some extras. They are sold by Boytz in Bastok Mines or at the Auction House.

Note: You must talk to Grohm to get a cut scene to be able to complete this mission.

In Palborough Mines at (F-7, first floor), you will find the Mythril Seam. Use the Pickaxe on the Mythril Seam until you get a Mine Gravel. (obviously you can skip this if you bought the gravel)

Once you get the gravel, find the Refiner on the third floor at (I-7). Trade the Mine Gravel to the Refiner and the machine will begin to work. Head to the machine on the second floor and pull the lever. You should receive an oz. of Mythril Sand. You can take a shortcut back to Bastok by jumping into the boat on the third floor.

Trade the Mythril Sand to Savae E Paleade.

Next, it's off to Federation of Windurst!

Next head to the ambassador in Federation of Windurst. He sends you to a tower in Windurst Walls to get a key. Zone into Heaven's Tower and speak to Kupipi to get the key and head off to Giddeus. At this point, you will need a full group. You can buy a map of Giddeus in Windurst Woods.

When you get to Giddeus you want to go to a burning circle located at G-12 in the southwest corner. Get ready for battle. Head into the circle and a dragon will appear. You need to defeat the dragon. After you do it, report back to the ambassador and then back to the guard and you gain rank 3 and 3,000 Gil.

Federation of Windurst

If Federation of Windurst is first, then you need to take a shield offering to Uu Zhoumo, the Yagudo NPC guarding the treasure room in the lowest part of Giddeus, then you have to fight Zhuu Buxu the Silent and retrieve 2 Parana Shields and trade them to the San d'Orian consulate. They tell you to go to Bastok next where you will get tossed around to different people until you are told to go into the mines. Go with a party to the 3rd floor and head towards the burnt spot on the map, and you will zone into the next part where you will find the burning circle. Then kill the Black Dragon and see the cutscene, head back to the San d'Orian consul in Federation of Windurst, they will complete you for their part and you just need to head on home to complete the mission.

Note that this mission is given in all three kingdoms, so you can group with anyone and still complete it.

Update Notes

As of February 14th, 2011, there is no longer a level cap restriction on the mission battlefield.

you can be 25+ to do the mission but your lvl gets reverted to 25 for the fight. I just finished killing the batok Dragon. it was pretty easy. only 3 people got petrified

awesome. i went to windurst first and got no word of the dragon. i heard everyone talk about it, but i guess the dragon and the consulate missions are not connected. after returning two shields i was told just to go to bastok, which is where i am now.

dragons tough
# Nov 18 2003 at 1:53 PM Rating: Default
The dragon in giddues is extremely tough. You should be at least level 20 to figh it and have a full fledged party with balanced fighters.
RE: dragons tough
# Nov 29 2003 at 9:57 PM Rating: Default
Agreed. Most of his attacks are manageable, but he has moves like belly flop that do hundredish to the whole party at a time, and single shot moves for 100-200. The biggest problem is that your mages will run out of mp 20% into this fight not counting 2 hour abilities. He has more hitpoints than you're used to fighting. Picture attacking a beach pugil in the dunes when your mages have 40 mp each. It turns into an endurance/survival fight like that.

The searcher is almost soloable at 20. Watch out for fire spells, thought I saw a couple do 2 damage against I believe the searcher. I remember seeing fire do 2 damage more than once.

Hope this helps

The yagudo you have to kill is named Zhuu Buxu the Silent he hangs out east of where the treasure room is located. Remember you have to kill him twice so you can get 2 shields. After getting the 2 shields return them to the sandoria consulet. But remember to enter the treasure room first.
Rediculously HARD
# Nov 15 2003 at 11:20 PM Rating: Default
The dragon is rediculously hard. I brought a full group all the way to the alter, then it turns out I was the only one the enter the battle grounds. You have to find 5 level 20's that happen to be on the same mission right when you're doing it. Almost impossible to find a full group and I have no idea how I'm going to go about completing this mission.

The finding 5 level 20's is fine, but requiring them to be on the same mission which means they are from the other side of the world.. No chance.
RE: Rediculously HARD

That's not exactly true. You can't help someone with the dragon fight if you haven't done it yet, but you can fight any dragon once you attain rank 3. You also don't have to be lvl 20; the lvl cap is 25, so if you are higher, your lvl is temporarily lowered.
don't try soloing
# Nov 15 2003 at 9:40 PM Rating: Decent
Well you certainly don't want to attempt soloing the dragon. I tried and failed like a fool. Still, the dragon looks pretty sweet. You can't run from him, you get teleported back to the fight area by him.
looking for the 2 shields

I can't find the NM in windurst cause he's allways dead. Could someone list the part of the zone where it hangs out, thanks.

the named is not in Windurest he is in Giddeus. he spawns in the basment. when you drop off the shield ot the NPC in Giddues instead of makeing a right as you are leaving head straight. he is in the next big room. he alwasy spawned for us shen we were farming for sheilds
Map

Okay I am pissed. there are 2 WASY of doing this Quest. If you go to Windurst first, you get a shield that you need to give to the Beastman in Giddeus as tribute but you MUST Kill Zhuu Buxu the silent and get two Parana Shields to trade to Consulate. once you do that you go to Bastosk and talk to the consulate there. if you do it this way you kill a dragon in Bastok. if you go Bastok First you kill a Dragon in Windurst.

get a Map of Giddeus in Windurst docks on the dock by the shops is an NPC that sells maps

I'm Japanese Player, so my English is poor, sorry.

if you do this mission easyly, you better to go to Bastok at first.
Because to get two magic shield, youll have to fight NM Yagudo twice per parson, so you spend much time.
and, Bastok Dragon use petrification, so youll fight despeately.(while you are petrification, you do nothing)

When you fight the dragon, your max level is limited 25
For win, you better to make 5 - 6people party and enough preparation ( some juice for casters, meal, medicines ).

Windurst Dragon use 'Curse'(HP & MP Max down), you better to prepare some holy waters. you can remove curse by holy water.

Alternate!!!!!!!
# Nov 07 2003 at 11:42 AM Rating: Default
The alternate to this mission is if you go to Windurst first. They'll send you to the Heaven Tree to pick up a magic shield to take to the Giddeus Treasure room. After dropping it off you'll need to steal two other shields to honor San'doria.

Then go to Bastok to fight the Bastok Dragon.
