Mission Orders

San d'Oria Mission 3-1: The scout in Davoi needs the help of an adventurer.

Walkthrough

After you accept the mission from the gate guards, you will have to go to Chateau d'Oraguille (H-7) to speak with Prince Trion. After speaking with the prince, you will proceed to Davoi.

**Note:You may require Invisible for Orcs and Sneak for bats at night for the rest of the section in Davoi.**

You will receive a cutscene once you zone in from Jugner Forest. From the zone, you will hug the right wall until you reach a T intersection at (I-7). At (I-7), you need to turn left. You will come to a bridge and Quemaricond will be on the other side of the bridge (H-7). (For those that need a pos by pos guide to get to the bridge, please refer below) Quemaricond constantly runs up and down among of bunch of orcs, so you might want to wait until he gets to a spot where you can drop Invisible before attempting to speak with him. Make sure you get the report from him before leaving Davoi.

After receiving the report from Quemaricond, you may proceed back to San d'Oria and deliver the report to the Prince.

Pos by Pos Guide to the Bridge (H-7):

1) From the zone, proceed to J-7 where you will see a large open area.
2) Turn right. Continue until you come to a path leading north at I-7
3) Follow the path north until you come to a T intersection.
4) Turn left. Continue until you come to a Bridge (H-7).

Ok guys here's the thing:
I've done Mission 3-1, and Its listed under Completed Missions, stupidly I clicked on it again, so I have to retake it. ><.
Ok, no problem, I thought, I'll just do it again!
However! There is a problem, I went back to Quarecimond (sorry for mistake spelling), and he said "Oh sorry I'm lost" or something, and did not give me the key item again to do the mission.
Could someone PLEASE tell me what to do, and straighten a few things out:

1. Does the "!" across the lake have any significance in this mission.
2. The guy at the entrance ( that I used for the Davoi report) says something about Davoi being cut into sectors and I need to go deeper.
3. Why aren't I Getting the cutscene from Quarecimond (Something like that ), a second time?

Thanks very much
any help is appreciated

theres a guy standing against a tree to the right, as soon as you enter Davoi, talk to him, and even though he says you can't fight your way through to the "!" on the far side of the pond, you cant be invised while examining it, and i was unlucky enough to have 2 orcs spawned near me, but i soloed them at 29 as a mnk/thf(both were EP)...nothing dealing with a bridge. and i got no cutscene upon entering davoi.

and in order to find the prince, go to the cathedral, and go up the stairs to the right, keep making your way up to the top, click on "papal chambers" for your cutscene

ok...nevermind me...i did the wrong quest all together...im dumb and wasted a bunch of time

OK i just followed directions for this mission and they aren't that helpful. Anyone wanna knwo why??? sure you do. Because after you talk to prince you cannot simply take a choco to davoi. If you do you better hope there's a BLM pleasently standing at zone to warp your *** back to sandy. There is someone else you must talk to before going there which is what I'm tryin to figure out right now.

Basically, once you walk into the castle, take a left and go through the doorway, and take a right to walk down to the courtyard. Continue walking forward until you get to the wall and turn left. You should see an NPC about half way to the next wall that will say the prince's chambers are off limits. ignore him/her and go down the small corridore and enter the door. you'll see a cutscene and you can then continue to Davoi.

I can't remember the name of the NPC standing outside the prince's door, maybe someone can add it into the thread. *hint, hint*
Completed........

I solo'd this as a 27WAR/13MNK. Even though the mobs check easy, they link up to KILL you. dont engage them, run past, goto bridge. WAIT for Quemaricond to come to the bridge, then get the Key Item report and GET THE HECK out of there. Done. Later!
Second time
# Dec 18 2004 at 7:46 PM Rating: Good
I accepted the infiltrate Davoi mission a second time, only to find out the mission had changed from the first time. Now u dont have to talk to the prince, and you dont talk to the npc scout u talked to in the first one either. U talk to the npc close to the zone(the dude u talked to in mission Davoi report). he will tell you to get 3 block codes, east, west and north. These block codes are !'s, and they're positions are: L-8, K-7 and J-7. When u get all of them, talk to the npc near the zone again. after that, cruise on to sandy, and talk to a guard. Mission complete!!

Once you get the mission, go and talk with the prince. Take a chocobo to Davoi. Once you enter, you'll get a cutscene. Using invis, make your way to the bridge by entering the large area ahead, make a sharp right turn, almost a U turn, and take that to a T, then turn left. Stand in the middle of the bridge and wait for Quemaricond to come to you. You will need to drop invis and move to his side of the bridge to trigger the conversation. If there are orcs too close by, then wait until they move away, as he constantly runs back and forth, you'll have plenty of chances to time it right. The first time I clicked on him he said "I'm sure I came in through this way..." Click on him again, maybe during his next trip, and he'll say "What? I apologize, but I am in quite a hurry..." He then goes on to give you the report. Recast invis and make your way back to Sandy, and the prince. That's it.

Ok I got a stumper for all of you. I finished Mission 3-1, skipped 3-2, and then went on to finish mission 3-3, which gave me Rank 4. However I cannot gain access to any of the Rank 4 missions...anyone know what is going on here?

If you can't get the mission it is from one of two things. Either your fame is not high enough, or you don't have enough rank points. Try giving the guards some crystals (like 6 or so, and the cheapest ones available). Check to see if you get the mission now.
huh?

I dont get it....I did everything they said, and spoke to Quacerimond or something, then went back to Trion, He said well done Drakian, your mission is over..
I go back to the guard and he offers me antother mission with the same title 'Infiltrate Davoi' so im all confused like, cos i was expecting the Crystal Springs misssion(?)
anway on THIS new mission I had just got it said exactly the same criteria as the one I had just done, except now Quacerimond's name was replaced with another persons name that now began with Z... I forget his full name...

can anyone help me?

Everytime you gain another rank, the previous rank mission will always be offered again. You need to make sure you're not accepting a previous mission.

If you'd completed the Mission but the guard isn't giving you the next mission as expected, try boost up your Ranking by donating Crystals to the Signet Guard. Go back and forth until the Mission giving guard gives you the quest.

Any type of crystal worths the same rank points, so pick something cheap to donate.

(altho i didn't have that problem, but that is the method to skip the 2-2 Davoi's Report)
Davoi 2nd time
# Oct 07 2004 at 6:59 PM Rating: Excellent
I have the same issue with getting this one twice.
Anyone figure out who wo go to the 2nd time in Davoi???
I just found this in another Post:
Talk to the Elvaan hiding behind the tree when you first enter Davoi. He will tell you he needs three block codes. Two of them are to the left (East, since you're pointing south when you enter) of the entrance, the third is to the right (West) of the entrance.

I think the targets you are looking for are !s. Of the two to the East, one is at K-7 in front of the Monastic Cavern entrance. The other is straight south from there at L-8. Don't go too far past L-8 because the area beyond is filled with level 40+ Orcs.

The target to the west is at J-7 in that little cul-de-sac where the War Lizards spawn. Act like you're heading to Quemaricond, and instead of making a left towards the bridge, take a right.

After you click on all three !s, I think talk to the guard at the tree again, then back to the gate guard who gave you the mission.

(L-8, K-7, J-7) I think are where the papers are.
I am going to try this tonight

this is my problem: Now, some of us accepted the same mission a second time, and the problem with that is that the mission becomes different. You can't execute it by speaking to the same NPC running by the bridge(H-7), you have to speak to other NPCs. The question is, where are those other NPCs?

If you get this twice, check your current and completed missions, you can not speak to the prince if you have it for the 2nd time. I have been running around in Davoi trying to figure out who we speak to. I also gave the gate guards crystals to the point where they just give me conquest points now. I am not sure if this is a glitch or perhaps not enough fame. Maybe we need to do more quest in the area.

Used sneak and invisable and got the report no trouble. You have to become visable to get it then use sneak and invisable again to get out.

Just wanna make a note: the npc may not be on the bridge.
Did that mission like a month ago as 40whm, easy with invis/sneak (not sure if sneak is needed, just in case).
Went to the bridge, stood at the middle, i found orcs at the two ends of the bridge, invis was about to wear off, but the npc did not appear, not even within my sight.
The orcs were close, i ain't sure if it's safe to recast at the middle of the bridge. So i just ran past the bridge, turned right into a clear narrow outdoor tunnel (wish you see what i mean). Recast invis there, and the npc was running to and thro there! Yes, it's quite safe there. Just waited till the npc was running towards me to take off invis and talk to him, passed the cut-scene.
Resting mp for warp, it occurs to me that i may have to talk to the npc once again, but soon an orc aggro, so i just warp back with like 50 hp left.
And i proved later that you dont need to talk to that npc again after the cut-scene.

EDIT: Grammatical mistakes

If you want to challenge yourself, it's fun to attempt to solo this as a RNG20 (I did it as 21, myself) without Prism Powders. Since you're a RNG20, you'll have the Camouflage ability (which makes you Invisible for 10-30 seconds). There's three ways to do it -- the easy hard way, the hard way, and the hard hard way. :-)

Easy hard: Home point in San d'Oria and get a Scroll of Instant Warp. Take a chocobo right up to the entrance to Davoi in Jugner Forest. Enter Davoi and Camouflage right before you enter the first opening. Go to the right, then turn right at the first opening you see. Keep going up the path until you see a very narrow path off to the left (may be hard to notice). If Camouflage wears off, it is safe to stop about 10 feet after turning to the left and wait for it to refresh. Camouflage again if needed and continue along this path past the Orcs to the bridge, and stand right in the middle of the bridge until Quemarcond arrives, then talk to him. Do not move closer to either side of the bridge than the other, or you will aggro Orcs. After talking to Quemarcond, use your Scroll of Instant Warp and you're done!

Hard: Run through Jugner to Davoi without a chocobo, being sure to avoid aggroing Forest Tigers (aggro by sight) and the Orcs near the entrance (also aggro by sight). Use Camouflage if necessary. Enter Davoi, follow the directions above, then use your Warp scroll and you're done! OR Chocobo to Davoi, then follow the above directions to get to the guard. Wait in the center of the bridge for Camouflage to cool down, then use it and run out. You can pretty much ignore Orc aggro on the way out of Davoi and most likely safely zone without being killed (especially thanks to Resist Poison). Exit to Jugner and Camouflage your way out of there to La Theine, then run back to San d'Oria and you're done!

Hard hard: Run through Jugner Forest to Davoi. Follow the directions to get to the guard and get out. Then, run back from Davoi through Jugner Forest to La Theine, and back to San d'Oria, and you're done! Remember to bring a towel, you'll need it to wipe all the sweat from your brow!

I did the hard way of taking a chocobo to Davoi and then running back through Jugner Forest. Boy was it exciting! On the way to the bridge, I had no clue where I was going, so I ended up walking into a group of War Lizards just as Camouflage was giving its wearing-off warnings. Thankfully I got to the safe point mentioned above and managed to wait for another Camouflage. Unfortunately, as soon as I started walking towards the bridge and was about to use Camouflage, I noticed an Orcish Fighter a bit closer than I expected, and it aggroed me right before Camouflage. >< I ended up having to zone and aggroed about 8 Orcs on the way. Fortunately, I survived.

On the second trip in, everything went peachy, although I was extremely nervous waiting in the middle of the bridge with an Orcish Beastrider literally standing on the inside end of the bridge and an Orcish Fighter directly opposite him, standing on the outside end of the bridge. Fortunately, Camouflage cooled down, I used it, and I got all the way to the merchant goblin before it ran out.

Naturally I breathed easy until I had to walk out through Jugner. At first I impatiently walked out without Camouflage, simply avoiding the Orcs by running along the mountain edge...but I soon realized the folly of that plan as I aggroed an Orcish Cursemaker. Naturally, he invited two of his friends to chase me (a Stonechucker and a Grunt), and at Lv21, I was ill-equipped to deal with all three of these at once. However, as I ran, I noticed only the Grunt doing damage to me, so I thought maybe the others had lost interest, and stopped to take him on. He checked decent challenge, so to be safe I used Eagle Eye Shot on him. After that, two ranged attacks finished him off.

But woe be the adventurer who thinks Orcs lose interest that quickly! No sooner did I attempt to sit down to rest than the Stonechucker and Cursemaker caught up to me. I immediately began running again, and just as I left the Stonechucker's ranged attack radius, I fell to 4 HP. The Cursemaker then attempted to cast Bio, but missed as I also left his casting range. I was now running for dear life, praying not to get any more aggro. Near the zone, I spotted Forest Tiger within ten freaking feet of me, but mercifully facing the other direction. I managed to cut a wide swath behing it and not get aggro. It was a long run to the zone, but fortunately I made it there and my PS2 and internet connection generously conspired to prevent me from getting hit and killed while zoning.

It was a long rest afterwards, but I then easily ran back to San d'Oria and completed the quest. Boy was that fun! ^^

well not to be mean (im sorta pissed cuz i just died so maybe i am) the directions suck. The whole go right then go right then go left, yea thats not very descriptive because i just tried and didnt get there i could never find the part to go left. I'll try what the guy a few posts down said, seemed a bit more descriptive but basically the same.
I just tried this as a 30thf/15nin and tonko works nicely but for some reason a pug aggroed me. Not sure how they can do this when im invised, but one did this to me in the sea serpent grotto while i was doing the utsesemi scroll quest also. Most of the time u can walk right past em with no prob but this is the second time ive been aggrod by a pug while invisible. THis time it bit because i was gonna go ahead and kill it since i saw nothing around and it checked as easy prey, but halfwayinto the fight i get pwned by a damn champion in like two hits. Kinda pissed me off because I was in a river bed under a bridge and there is no way he could see me down there.
Oh yea im pissed lol sorry about the rant

I'll post back when i actually complete this mission.

Maybe you have already figured this out from reading up on MGS abilities, but as an FYI, some mobs aggro on sight, some mobs aggro on sound (check the bestiary). Invisi blocks sight aggros and sneak blocks sounds aggros. You need one effect or the other effect or both to safely transverse a given area depending upon the mob types and distribution. So you will always get aggroed when you try and walk by a pugil with invisi up, or at least just as much aggro as if you walked by them without invisibility up - since sound aggro is not always 100% and seems to vary based on range and relative level (EP mobs take a lot longer to aggro you compared to IT) it seems which is why you are noticing that a lot of the time you can get by them. SSG is all sound, too which would explain why you ran into problems there if you were using only tonko.
