Valentione's Day: Love Conquers All!

I've seen many an adventurer in my time, kupo, from blade-brandishing beaus to wand-waving vixens. But none of them ever boasted the ability to read minds, oh no. You understand what I'm getting at, kupo? You don't?

<Sigh>...
Then let me rephrase that in a way you're sure to understand. If you have feelings for someone, let them know! You know how the saying goes: No spilling of guts, no glory, kupo!

What? You say you need a good excuse before you can work up enough courage to approach the object of your abundant affection, kupo? Well then, here's the best one around: Valentione's Day! It's the perfect time of year for incurably shy guys and gals just like you. Consider it a much-needed friendly shove in the back towards realizing a rosy future with the person of your dreams.

Now, now, Master, no need to get jittery, for your target is but one-favorable odds compared to the hordes of fell beasts you've had to contend with in the past. So, stow away that well-whetted war-axe in favor of some delectably delightful chocolates, and chaaarge! Straight into the heart of love's warm embrace, kupo!

But even if, despite all my positively persuasive prompting, you still can't shake off the heebie-jeebies, perhaps the following success stories from your peers will help spur you into affirmative action, kupo!

llustration by Mitsuhiro Arita
Ms. L (Hume, female) Diabolos

Last Valentione's Day, I made a swanky silk robe to give to my estranged beloved, even though I had resigned myself to never seeing him again. I waited and waited at our special place, and was on the verge of walking home on my lonesome when he appeared. He accepted my present, all the time wearing that dreamy smile of his...

Hm? What are my plans for this year, you ask? Why, of course I'll be spending it with him-at our special place, with the two of us donning our matching robes!
Ms. J (Elvaan, female) Remora

I haven't told anyone yet, but he and I...we've become more than just adventuring friends now. And to think that all it took to bring us together was a little bit of extra courage on my part that fateful day. I've never been so happy in my entire life!
Mr. H (Tarutaru, male) Shiva

Grrr... I am not a messenger boy! How many times do I have to repeataru myself before they understand!? Just because G.G. won S.'s heart thanks to the message I delivered for him doesn't makey-wake me the bearer of bliss! Whataru am I supposed to do if I'm seen making the deliveries by...by that little red-haired girl!?
Ms. M (Mithra) Valefor

Even now, I can rrremember it like it was yesterday...
Romping around the vast deserts of Aht Urhgan, getting sand in our boots.
Getting royally lost in the maze we'd put our heads together to crrreate.
Gazing up at the bejeweled sky on the night of the Starlight Celebration, his hand over mine.
Whenever I look back, it seems D. was always at my side...

And we squandered it all, went our separate ways over a childish rrrivalry.
But it's okay, because Valentione's Day is just around the corner.
This year, like the last, I have faith that a new love awaits me with open arrrms.

So, how was it? Did these sugar-laced tales of boundless romance not inspire within you newfound faith in the power of love, kupo?
What? Fabricated nonsense, you say!?
Hmph, so much for faith in love, kupo...

Listen to me, Master. Love helps those who help themselves, and nothing good will ever come your way if you just sit there sulking over a tepid cup of tea inside your Mog House, kupo.

At the very least, I expect to see you out and about and with a spring in your step during the Valentione's Day event. You've got absolutely nothing to lose and all the love in the world to gain, kupo!

To do the Valentiones Day event...

Following is my post from the Alla News page about this event. I'm posting it here because someone asked me the other day about my Charm Wand +1.

By the way, you may also choose this item as one of your Gold World Pass Benefits rewards.

=^x^= =^x^= =^x^= =^x^= =^x^=

Yayyy, Charm Wand +1! Woot!

So anyway, to do this event, play matchmaker and bring together four couples from the eight "Valentione Single" NPCs around the city. You'll need the participation of one or more players of your character's opposite sex for this. Each NPC Single desires a certain type of person and will give you two halves of a chocolate heart; one to trade to the other player who needs it for their matchmaking, and one to hold on to and match up with a chocolate heart half from an NPC of the opposite sex. This has to be their correct match for you to get higher points and succeed in your matchmaking. Each chocolate half has an attribute (Romance, Desire, Amour, or Attraction) and the half you trade has what's basically a signature of which NPC gave it. You may only obtain chocolate halves from NPC Singles of your character's sex, so either party with a player whose character is the opposite sex of yours to trade pieces with and get both halves, or randomly ask characters of the opposite sex to obtain the pieces you need from the NPC of their sex. Partying is way more fun and makes things go more quickly. Once you have a correct match of two halves (pay attention to what the NPC Single tells you about who they "like"), take these two halves to an event Moogle and he will make a whole chocolate heart for you to give to the NPC Single who gave you your chocolate half. Same with your partner, but of course you won't be giving your chocolate hearts to the same NPC Single. This part you can't ***** up because an NPC Single won't take the chocolate heart if it's not theirs. Once you've given out your four whole chocolate hearts that the Moogle made from the halves, return to the Moogle to see how you did and choose your prize.

It's much easier to do this if you try to match one couple at a time. Also, every match won't be as easy as some of them are. Sometimes one NPC Single wants another Single who wants someone else, rather than the one who wants them. I made notes of who wanted whom and what type of chocolate they gave me to match. That made things go much more smoothly when matching in these "love triangles." I got the NQ wands first, and then the Charm Wand +1 on my third run. That's what I was after, so I'm happy. It's so cute that the wands are "signed" by the person you party with to do this event (if you do it that way). Super-yay! It takes a bit of time to get this event done because there's a lot of running between two zones where the "singles" are all located in each city, but it's worth it if you like the more useful event items. I'm not crazy-psyched about the Miracle Wand, which is just 10 charges of Regen; but the Charm Wands are Reraise, and that's not bad for free. NQ Charm Wand = Reraise, 10 charges. Charm Wand +1 = Reraise, infinite charges but a countdown of about 5 days, I think. I want to do the event again before it ends so that I can get some free signing crystals w/o spending guild points, but it was a bit tedious doing the event so I'm going to wait a few days! There are also lame things you can choose for prizes, like chocobo passes/tickets.

Oh, the NPC "Valentione Single" locations for San d'Oria are:

Male Hume - S. Sandy, L-7 near Lion's Spring
Male Elvaan - S. Sandy, E-7 in Watchdog Alley
Male Tarutaru - N. Sandy, E-6 upstairs
Galka - N. Sandy, D-9 near gate to W. Ronfaure

Female Hume - S. Sandy, across from the Auction House
Female Elvaan - S. Sandy, C-6, Count Caffaule's Manor
Female Tarutaru - N. Sandy, K-9, outside Cathedral
Mithra - N. Sandy, H-9, along the moat

With 15 points, not knowing how to do it properly the first time, I also got nothing...So I assume at least from 0-15 points is nothing.
