Summary

You couldn't quite make out what Kenapa-Keppa was trying to say but you guess he wants you to go pick up something from Mhaura. This doesn't look like your ordinary delivery job...?

Walkthrough

Talk to Kenapa-Keppa over and over until he starts to repeate himself. He will eventualy give you this quest. Go to Mhaura and look for Kotan-Puritan. She appears at night near the ticket booth. She will give you some luggage to take back. You then have to make it back to Windurst Waters before dawn. This is hard to do without having a way to teleport. Talk to Kenapa again for your reward.

Animal Edit: Talk to him at 07:00 Game Time. I tried flagging this quest at 5:00 game time, and it wouldnt activate for me. however, after looking on line, I was trying a little before 7:00. a post farther down suggested 7:00, and once I waited, that worked.

Don't like losing experience using a bloodwarp? Switch to a level one job. you won't lose what you don't have.
Easily enough time.
# Jan 13 2008 at 3:25 AM Rating: Decent
For those of you that don't fancy bloodwarping for this quest (completely unnecessary if you ask me), here's a breakdown of how long it took me between zones on the way back from Mhaura.

Obtain key item in Mhaura at 19:15.
Depart Mhaura at 19:25.
Run throught Buburimu Peninsula to the Tahrongi Canyon zone by 21:25.
Arrive at chocobo lender at the crag by 22:45.
Leave crag and arrive at the East Sarutabaruta zone by 00:00.
Arrive at the southernmost West Sarutabaruta zone by 01:00.
Enter Windurst Waters by 01:25.
Arrive at the Rhinostery by 02:25.

Don't bother wasting XP on this if you're a high enough level to rent a bird.

I just wanted to clear up something about this quest.

If you have the quest "Say it with Flowers" active, you HAVE to finish that one before this one will activate.

I found this out after about 2 weeks of trying to activate this quest. If you activate "Say it with Flowers" and do not finish it, the npc will just keep repeating the same thing over and over and never give you the quest. Once i figured this out, I finished "Say it with Flowers" and got the quest. Thank god.

Oh, one more thing. "Say it with Flowers" is NOT, i repeat, NOT a prereq for getting the quest. If you have not activated "Say it with Flowers" you can activate this quest as long as you have finished "Food for Thought".

I hope this helps some ppl who are having trouble getting the quest activated.

thats what a prequest is, lol, you have to do it (ie complete) before doing a follow-up quest.

somepage has most of the series type quests, logged with numbers so you can tell which order to do them in

... not quite.

You accept quest X. You must complete quest X before you can start on quest Y. That is a prereq.

You accept quest X, and then cannot accept quest Y. If you had NOT accepted quest X, you would be able to accept quest Y. That is a CONFLICTING quest. There are some of them out there. If you have "Say it with flowers" accepted, complete it first. If you do NOT, then don't accept it before starting and finishing this one.

In the case of the conflicting quest as described above, it might be inferred that once the intervening quest is completed, the second can be begun. However, it is possible to find what might be called a Critical or Lethal Conflict between quests; once one quest has been accepted or completed, another which might have been possible can no longer be started...ever.

Wrong. There is no way to never get a quest in FFXI.

I read an earlier post that said you had to start it after 7:00. I think I misunderstood that, thinking I had to start it in the morning.

Anywho I started the quest at 18:25, ran up set my homepoint, tele-mea, choco to Mhuarra, got item from taru, warped back and had quest finished at like 22:39 or something like that. I just wanted to clarify the start time just in case anyone misread it like me.

And just to move this info to the top of the posts:

Prerequisite Quests: (must be completed in order)
1. Food for Thought
2. Overnight Delivery
3. Water way to go!
4. Blue Ribbon Blues
5. Toraimarai Turmoil

This is not true, I have done the quest Overnight Delivery and didn't complete (nor even started) the quests 4. Blue Ribbon Blues and 5. Toraimarai Turmoil from your list. In fact, I still haven't finished the last one. Being from Bastok, I don't have the need to finish it either.

I've been trying to get this quest to activate and I haven't had any luck at all. The other thing that I've been going is building up as much quest fame as I can and it still will not activate the quest. I have also tryed to activate this quest at all times.

ok cut and dry here ppl.
You gotta talk to Kenapa-keppa after 7:00. Not sure if it needs to be the next game day but at 7:00 on the dot, i was able to get the quest.

You can pick up the Bag from Mhaura after 1900
you gotta get back before dawn (pretty sure its 7:00) the next morning. Tele-Mea or warp recomended. Quest will be finished and you will have your Power Gi. Hope this helps!

you're off by 1 hour. You can get the bag at 18:00 or later, and it has to be 6:00 or later to start the quest. You have to be back and talk to Kenapa no later than 5:59
RE: Just the facts

I can confirm that this quest cannot be started before 7:00. I began talking to the NPC around 4:00 and, obviously, didn't get the quest. I started again at 6:00 and, lo and behold, still didn't get the quest. I continued talking until 7:00 when I got finally got it the first time I talked to him after 7:00. Now as for the rest of these times, I didn't bother to try and figure it out, but it's safe to say the original poster was correct and the one above me was not. Just because 6:00 is dawn and 18:00 is nightfall doesn't mean that this quest runs on that clock. Maybe the NPC just wanted the package before the next workday. Hell, dawn is hours before many of us wake up and start working. NPCs in Vana'diel are apparently the same :P

Also, I'm not sure if it's been mentioned or not, but you don't have to do this quest the day you get it. I waited several RL days after starting the quest before picking up the package and delivering it.

The quest description I think is confusing; Kotan-Purutan is always there, he just doesn't let you take the stuff until it's nighttime. The desc. makes it sound like he's not even there, talking about how he's "out," but really he is.

I'm just confirming what BaZERger stated;

Say it with flowers is not requried to be completed to get this quest, I haven't completed it but I've done this one.

I have no experience trying this with Say it with flowers opened, but I'd guess you can't get this quest while on Say It With Flowers though, since Kenapa-Keppa is involed in the quest for information about it.

After finishing Food for Thought, I couldn't get the quest (...<Grin>...) so I zoned out and back and talked to Ken-Kep again and got the quest. (I have hero status and only one unrelated Windy quest open, so I knew fame and unfinished quests weren't the issue.) I got the quest around 22:00 so I didn't make it back in time (about 6:15 >.<).

I zoned out and back again just moments after failing the quest and immediately got it from Ken-Kep again (a little after 7:00) and I took my time getting to Mhaura. Sometime between 18:00 and 19:00 I found Kot-Pur already out and I got the bag right away. I warped back (HP set in Port Windy) and finished the quest.

So if you time it right you'll have at least 11 hours to get to Mhaura since you can open the quest at 7:00 (maybe 6:00) and 12 hours to get back from Mhaura since Kot-Pur will be out by 18:00, if not earlier.

Good luck!

I think this quest glitched on me...

I can't finish or start over, and no NPC anywhere says anything about it.

The chick in Mhuara keeps telling me to hurry back to the Rhinostery, adn the other guy doesn't say anything about it at all.

Any have any ideas?

Just did this quest myself.... IF you talk to him during night, he will say:

... <Grin> ...

If you talk to him between 6:00-7:00, he will say:

The...glowing...plants...
you...see...around...town...

...They're...
"Flouro-flora"...

When I talked to him at 7:05, he gave me the quest.

Oh, and as stated above, you need Food for Thought and Say it With Flowers done.

[Edit: Kotan-Purutan is out all day long, but if you talk to him during daylight, he says:

Ah! Are you from the Rhinostery?
Could you come back when its dark?
I know its a bother-wother, but I was specifically instructed not to take it out during the day.

Just thought I'd clarify that.]

I'm not sure if this is the case, but I first was unable to get this quest either. I zoned after Food for Thought and kept talking to Kenapa-Keppa but he won't give me the quest. I then went back to talking to the other 2 NPCs and back to Kenapa-Keppa. At that point, he gave me the quest. So probably you need to talk to the other NPCs again first.

What I did was make sure the two quests listed (food for thought, say it with flowers) were finished and then I'd talk to Kenapa-Keppa after 19:00 Vanadiel time and he gave me the quest. Must make sure the others are cleared, or else all he'll talk about tortillas or tahrongi cacti.

He said that to me too. But that was before I did the Food for Thought Quest which is started by Kerutoto in the other part of the Rhinostery. Once you do that, he should be talking about glowing flowers if you still don't have enough fame.

For those of us able to ride a chocobo and have a warp spell (and those who spring for a scroll of instant warp) here is a very fast way to complete this mission. During the daylight hours, set your home point in Windurst Waters. Also make sure you have enough mana for the warp spell. Then get ready to talk to Kenapa-Keppa just after dusk. When you receive the quest, run up to Tonana and warp to Windurst Woods. You will be teleported just outside the chocobo stables! Take a chocobo (usually cost less than a hundred gil) and ride to Mhaura. Talk to Kotan-Puritan and receive the small bag. Warp back to Windurst Waters. Run to Kenapa-Keppa and trade to him his small bag before dawn.

The first reward is a power gi. The second and unannounced award is you open up "Water Way To Go". Combined with "Crisis In The Making", you can collect a total of 1300 gil for every trip. Grab a supply run from Puroiko-Maiko,WW and earn a few conquest points on your way out. And do not forget you have warp so you can instantly return after getting your water and food offering.

You can even use this method to help you with Windurst rank 2 mission 2.

I did this, got the quest at 23:00 not even knowing id have to beat dawn wtf >< Anyways, first i bought a scroll of instant warp and set my HP in port. Then proceeded to shout for a teleport mea for 1000G got invited and teleported instantly, took a choco to mhaura and used my scroll to get back. Done by 3:00. Would have gotten done faster but i didnt know who to talk to in Mhaura, and i got dragged into a cutscene about some ladys dead husband >< I'd say if you hurry and you know who to talk to, you can get this done in 3 Vanadiel hours.

YOu have to have completed the Food for Thought quest, and probably you need better than level 2 Windy fame, because I can't get this quest. Also, Kenapa-Keppa is in J-9 the Rhinostery... go south in Waters to the second map to find him.
