lil trick
# Nov 18 2008 at 3:30 AM Rating: Decent
so saw below if the price is right you can use the 900 gil to buy the shiz (i.e. riabbit hides, bat wings, honey, ext.) you need to complete those simple quests and you'll end up with more fame that what you lose? has anyone tried this does that work... still kind seems not worth the time, at least if your really needing some sandy fame (o shiva you cold goddess I loan for your power).
Alternate Quest

According to this: http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Blackmail , if you refuse the quest, you unlock another quest named "The Setting Sun", which becomes available at lvl 6 fame. As the reward for "The Setting Sun" is 10,000g, it's more beneficial to refuse the "Blackmail" quest. The only problem is that the quest is a little tricky and you need two players to do it. This page gives a rundown of "The Setting Sun": http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/The_Setting_Sun

this quest actually seems to not be too important,

it only gives 900 gil, and lowers fame??!!

kind of a rip off
Other NPC's mention floor plans

There are other NPC's that mention the floor plans. They are standing outside of a group of doors on the bottom level east side of "Laborman's Way" in North Sandy (F-5). One of them mentions that there are 3 or 4 (can't remember) pieces of the map. Vamorcote who is right there in the area I'm speaking of, also gave me "The Setting Sun" quest.

But because it's a Rare/Ex you could only hold one. I've never heard of pieces being found either, just a copy...

I'm wondering if anyone has tried to trade one of these NPCs the floor plans or has asked them about them. (edit: sorry see below) Maybe you have to do the quest 3 times, as they talk about 3 pieces of plans???

I'm just hoping there's more to this quest than losing fame and gaining 900gil...

I wish there was some alternate solution to this quest. Tried trading the floor plans to everyone in the Chateau, as well as the guys in North Sandoria involved in "The Setting Sun", with no response.

The quest is repeatable. Try to find out if anything changes after a certain number of Floor Plan turn ins- different dialogue from Dauperiat or Halver, a limit on number of turn ins, a new title, or even if Tenshodo fame is affected (doubt it, but it is a "criminal" quest). Try talking to different NPCs in Sandoria once you've repeated the quest several times. It would be great if this actually unlocked another quest somehow.

There is a specific number of plans, pieces of plan, something like that, that one of the North Sandy "Laborman's Way" NPC's speaks of. Not sure if it's 3 or 4. How many times did you do the quest?

I wish I could remember that NPC's name, but I know they are standing near Vamorcote...

Level 21 SAM and level 30 BLM, neither were able to get the quest, he said he had no time to talk. There has to be fame required, because I have 0 Sandy fame.

Tenshodo?

Since this quest seems to lower your Sandy Fame and Tenshodo (Norg) quests lowers your Sandy Fame could this be a Tenshodo related quest? Also this is for a smuggler, the tenshodo are smugglers and tenshodo-related quests are FOR smugglers like Windy's Cat Burglar, Nanaa Mihgo.

to raise your fame in sandoria you buy bat wings or pots of honey in windurst. In no time you'll have max fame for free. At least that's how the price structure is on my server.

Find out what the bat wings or honey are for on this site.

sub ranger, or main it if it meets the lvl requirment. But scan and track is awsome for finding npcs in the chaos of sandoria.

Even lvl 1 ranger sub gives you scan and the ranger quest is REALLY easy to do. Very useful at finding those hard to find npcs in many quest.

How do you find the NPC that raided the castle? No one gave out any clues that were worth anything that I talked to.

RE: Fame
# Dec 21 2003 at 5:08 PM Rating: Default
Ok yes this does Lower your fame by 4 points, BUT just turn in 12 rabbit hides to the npc that takes them and you get that back :)

This quest enables a sub quest from the guards that i got the other day, when you go to talk to the guards for a new mission they say that the Chateau has been raided... blah blah blah
when you find the NPC that raided the castle you get some lvl 45 armor (chest) only can be used with Paladan, the guy is easy to get, he was located in Yughott Ghroto for me up near Horlias pk

I don't think this quest does lower your fame. I talked to the fame NPC before trying this quest and was told "Ah, Xenoveritas. That is a name I often hear. People speak well of you! Your deeds for the kingdom have earned you much honor."

Afterwards I was told "Xenoveritas! You have become well known in these parts! I hear much of your accomplishments. Keep up the good work, and greatness lies in your future."

According to this link that means my fame raised from level 3 to level 4 by completing the quest.
Dude Location
# Dec 08 2003 at 3:20 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, I got the castle floor plans before I knew of this quest and didnt know where the dude was but found him and thought I would post his location. Dauperiat is right next to the enterance to South Sandoria from North Sandoria to the right if you are heading to South Sandoria.

I did this mission twice and got 900 gil each time. I got the first map in Davoi, and the second one in the Yughott Grotto...
mob loc and other goodies
# Dec 04 2003 at 6:04 PM Rating: Good
I think you have to talk to Dauperiat, then Halver, then Daup. again to initiate the quest. Lv 20 to get it, I was able to survive without too much trouble in a 3-man pt of level 22's (whm and 2 tanks).

As for the Ghelsba mobs that drop it, from the first area when you enter Ghelsba Outpost, so south and enter the side-path that is not marked on the map (a couple of Grunts usually spawn there), take that up into Yughott Grotto, go through to the last exit in the far NE room, which will take you into part of Fort Ghelsba. Go south and east in here and look for a hut leading back into the Yughott caves area, it has an Orcish Cursemaker and Orcish Fighter spawn inside. Go into these caves, and you should easily find the mobs you need.

Note that this area is also good for:

Shaman Garlic (quest outside Chateau in SD)
Ft. Ghelsba Chest Key
The "a General's Secret" quest (Chateau, Curilla) area is in the SE corner of the area
A Burning Circle is in the NE corner of the area
