Mission Orders

Capture the three magicites in Davoi, Beadeaux, and Castle Oztroja to prevent the Shadow Lord's return.

Walkthrough

This mission may need an alliance and or high level assistance. This mission can take up to several hours, depending on your setup!

Jeuno

Head to Ru'Lude Gardens and talk to your Ambassador. He will then give you a key item to obtain an audience with the Archduke of Jeuno. After the cutscene, you need to obtain key items to gain access to the strongholds of the beastmen.

Take the letter the Duke gave you and present it to Aldo of the Tenshodo inside Neptune's Spire in Lower Jeuno. If you are not a member of the Tenshodo you must become one before you can continue this mission. Either complete the quest for membership or buy a scroll from the Auction House. After a cutscene you will obtain a Silver Bell as one of the three for access to the Magicite in Beadeaux. Then, talk to Sattal-Mansal and he will tell you to bring him a Quadav Charm and a Quadav Augury Shell so that he can give you the last two key items needed for Beadeaux -- Key Items, Coruscant Rosary and Black Matinee Necklace.

Now, either fight Coeurls in Meriphataud Mountains for Coeurl Meat or buy a piece from the Auction House. Head to Upper Jeuno and talk to Baudin, who is next to a house across from the Chocobo Stables. Once the cutscene is over, trade him the meat and you will receive Davoi Charm.

Finally, just walk between the Armor and Weapon shops and talk to Paya-Sabya. After the cutscene, head to Muckvix's Junk Store in Lower Jeuno and talk to Muckvix in the back room. After a cutscene, you will receive a Yagudo Torch.

Now, it's time to head out.

Davoi

This one is quick and simple, but you may have to fight an Orcish Trooper or Orcish Gladiator at the Wall of Dark Arts. Once you enter Davoi, turn right, take top route to G-7, go to the southernmost point. You'll see the Wall of Dark Arts immediately.

Activate the wall, by clicking on it, pass through, and enter Monastic Cavern. There are no monsters in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall, click the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Optistone, warp back to Jeuno.

Castle Oztroja

Castle Oztroja will either be the longest or second longest task of the mission, because even to level 40+ everything will aggro halfway through, and the Yagudo appear in groups of three and four.

When you enter the castle, head to the door at (I-8). Have everyone stand back and away from the door. Send a Black Mage to test the levers, as if he triggers the trapdoor he can just Escape and come back. The lever combination changes with every game day, so just have one member try them. If the Black Mage is successful, then let him trigger the lever and have everyone else run inside the door.

Once inside, head to the right and up the stairs. You come to an intersection at (I-8) and need to head right. Follow this all the way straight and don't take the right turn at (I-7). Follow this until you come to another intersection, which is also on the second floor of the castle. DO NOT DROP DOWN, as you CAN fall. If you do, you have to start this all over again. Stay near the edge of the walls, and take the tunnel at (G-8), which will eventually lead you to an outside court at (G-7).

Again, you will be on an overpass and DON'T FALL DOWN. Go right and take the tunnel at (I-7). Once you enter the tunnel it's pretty straightforward. Head up the stairs, then down, and follow them until you reach an intersection. You're now heading into the lower depths of Castle Oztroja, where Yagudo Lutenists, Priors, Zealots, and Conquistadors are here, plentiful, and in groups of 2 - 4. If you're in an alliance of 35+ or even 40+, you will have to fight, so prepare yourselves.

Once you reach the intersection at (H-8), head right. Follow this through the bend, and go straight, ignoring the left turn at (G-9), and ignoring the left turn again at (G-9) when you follow the bend (if you look at the map, you'll see it's just a loop anyway). Follow this straight and you'll eventually come to the torch door -- this is what your Key Item: Yagudo Torch is for. Activate one of the two torches and wait for all members to appear on the other side.

Kill the few Yagudo here, and head right at the intersection at (H-10). Open the door, and enter the Altar Room. There's nothing in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall. Activate the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Orustone, warp back to Jeuno.

Beadeaux

This part of the mission is actually easy to complete, but you have to make two trips. The first trip deals with killing the two named Quadav (not Notorious Monsters) and getting enough drops for everyone. This can be either quick, or time consuming, depending on the size of the alliance.

Enter Beadeaux, go straight, and head left at the intersection at (F-7). Follow the bed and go straight, ignoring the open area to the right. Follow the bend and head sound into the tunnel at (H-7). The Land Pugils aggro here, so you may need to kill them for anyone in the the 30s.

Once in the tunnel, follow the winding path down until you reach an intersection at (H-7). Left is the way to the Qulun Dome, and the Magicite. However, you only have one of the three key items needed to open the door, so we need to go right. Follow this path until you come to an intersection, and head right at (G-7), for left is The Afflictor, which will *curse* you. You have to be silenced by The Muter, to not be cursed when walking past The Afflictor. You'll see The Muter and you need to click on it and *activate* it to become muted.

We had a White Mage that had Silena and Cursna, so she didn't get muted, but had everyone else do so. They went ahead and killed all the Quadav in the room of The Afflictor at (G-8), while she just allowed herself to be cursed. She uncursed herself, and cast Silena on the other mages. We let her rest up, and just went on with our business.

Once past the machines, follow the tunnel and ignore the right turn at (F-7) and follow the tunnel out into the above. Follow the tunnel until you come to another Muter machine. Now, here's how you get onto the top platform and avoid the machines. You need to go *clockwise* around this entire area. On other words you need to go from (F-9) east, then southeast to (H-9). Go from here southwest to (H-10), then west and then southwest to (F-10) (the afflicter machines should be *out* of your vision or *north* of you), and finally go west and then north to (E-10) to the little incline leading up onto the above ledges.

You need to follow the southern ridge of this (DON'T FALL OFF!) until you get to (J-9). There will be a little doorway pass with some torches nearby. This is where De'Vyu Headhunter spawns, and depending on your alliance you may have to fight him numerous times. He usually drops 3 Quadav Charms, but since we had two alliances he did drop 2 and then 4 once. However, 3 seems to be the median. His respawn time seems to be just about 15 minutes even, as we timed it when we had to kill him 8 times.

After every person has a charm, let's head back north to the starting area, but STAY ON THE LEDGE. You need to follow the ridge again until you get to (F-6), which is right by the entrance. At (F-6), near the two huts on the ledge, is where Go'Bhu Gascon will spawn. He drops the Quadav Augury Shell, the last of the two items needed, and like De'Vyu Headhunter, he drops a median of 3 shells per fight. His respawn time seems to be just about 15 minutes as well.

Once everyone has a Quadav Charm and a Quadav Augury Shell, head back to Jeuno. Enter the Neptune's Spire again and trade the items *ONE at a time* to Sattal-Mansa. For some reason, if you trade him both at the same time (this happened to one of our members), he gives you the key item for the first item put in. He also takes the second item, but doesn't give you credit for it, so you'll have to go back to fight one of the two named Quadav to get another one.

After everyone has their two key items, head back to Beadeaux. Head to the the Qulun Dome as mentioned above. There's nothing in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall. Activate the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Aurastone, warp back to Jeuno.

Jeuno

Head back to the Archduke and a cutscene will play. He will give you your airship pass! Then, head to your embassy and talk to the person behind the counter. You will then be recognized as having achieved Rank 5 and will be awarded 10,000gil as well! The assistant to the ambassador will then order you home.

If you already have an airship pass (for whatever reason), the Duke will give you an additional 20,000 gil, in addition to the 10,000 gil you receive from the embassy.

Just a small tip in the davoi part.

You cant just run past the orcs guarding the Dark wall with sneak/invis. They wont aggro you but you wont be able to go through the wall.

Even if you take off invis, you cant go through the gate, so I guess you have to let them aggro you or kill them.

And if they do aggro, you better WATCH OUT. One of them is a MONK type, And as i learned tonight an IT MONK can beat you down faster than you can select 'chainspell' then 'warp'. unless you have it macro'd.

TWA- learning hard lessons one day at a time as a 38 RDM.

Just completed this yesterday as 45 WHM. Pretty much did it alone. My story...

Davoi was the easiest so I did that first. You're going to have to drop invisible to get through the Wall of Dark Arts, but unless you're really low lvl it shouldn't be a problem...let the orcs aggro you and run through, the zone is right behind the wall. I happened to have a friend right there camping an NM who killed them for me, but otherwise I would have done that. I think they checked DC'ed to me.

Went to Oztroja which a lot of people complain about, took maybe twenty minutes. Follow the guide which gives really good directions and you'll be fine. I actually died trying to get through the door with the torches, I didn't know you had to stand in the *middle* of them. So, make sure you do that ~.^ Like Davoi, you just need to get through the door alive and it'll shut behind you and cut off aggro.

Beadeaux was annoying. Asked someone there for help killing the NM's because I knew I couldn't solo them. Just do a search in the area and ask, someone will help you. That's about it.

Easy mission, just time consuming.

I can't even start this quest. Mission 3-3 is under my completed missions so i know thats not the problem. The problem is when i go tto the windurstian embassy to talk to my ambassador i cant get into his room,. Says "restricted Access" or something like that.

Is there some sort of prerequisite to talk to your ambassador or is something wrong?

Hi all,

I just wanted to let anyone who wants to do this mission pre-40, that it can be done.

You have to buy a stack of sneak oils and prism powders for each part but you don't have to fight anything except for the Beadeaux part.

Castle O is easy if you use the oils and powders. The torch door and the trap door are the only places that you have to drop the powder's effect. (Also you can avoid dropping down the trap door if you move after you activate the door.)

Davoi was a joke with the powders and oils. You really only need 2 prism powders and sneak oils if you have the map. The wall of dark art is only a few steps away from the entrance.

Beadeaux is impossible to solo pre-40 I would think. I took 10 X-potions and a stack each of prism powders and oils and I got destroyed. The best advice if you want this early is to get to Beadeaux and see if there is anyone high level who can help you. Either that or form a party with some other level 30 somethings and hack your way through it. The first NM is right by the entrance on the upper level, so you can pull him down to you level, it just takes time. The second NM is way in the back and I had high level help with that one.

Anyway good luck to all who try this, I'm off to use my airship pass!

honestly the hardest part is castle O.
and thats because i got soooo &*^% lost lol
I have helped others get it since then and it did not take as long as ppl seem to think (if you know what your doing it is really not to bad)
so my advice is to get help from someone who knows the way :) but if you cant get help good luck and may the force be with you for me to **** on

just did this as a 44thf/nin. i soloed 95% of it, I just had help killing the NMs in Beadeux. Its not too bad when you can cast tonko and avoid aggro in Castle O and davoi.
1 tip for those who've never been to castle O like i hadn't. To activate the handles(and later the torches) you have to stand in the middle of both of them.
Handle----you----Handle

or it doesn't bloody work. Goodluck

I did it almost entirely solo
# Dec 11 2005 at 3:04 PM Rating: Decent
I did this mission almost entirely solo. The Castle and Davoi I did at level 41 and Beadaux I did (today) at level 45 (RDM/BLM).
The only part I got help is with one of the Quads (the toughest). A higher level passing by cured me
a couple of times. But I think I could have that quad if I had nuked the hell out of him (tried to kill him with my sword and some enfeebles), this 1 gave me 100 exp. points. The other qaud was relatively easy (nuked him away) and gave me 50 exp. points. Only had to watch that the other quads didn't aggro me.
Davoi was very easy at lvl 41 and the Castle was also very easy (if you have got patience) just wait for the 2 Yagudos to get far enough from the door (and they are looking in the opposite direction of the door).

# Nov 30 2005 at 4:11 PM Rating: Decent
Right now, as a 46Redmage/22Ninja[yes yes Blackmage is way to go blah blah lol], have started this misson today. So far l soloed the Davoi part[sneak, invis and some brain work], and only need help killing the two NM Quads in Beaudux with my Ls mate, lvl 60 Blackmage[Dabu!!].
Last part is the castle, which l know will be the worst. But man people, try doing it yourself, or least not so much gloating cause you did it with a group of lvl 50s, or a lvl 75 PL. Cracks me up when people gloat about how "easy" it was for them, when their 40 lvls above most of the mobs lol. I may as well go to South gusty, kill some mobs, and gloat how easy that was lol.
To all who solo quests near their level, or party when the quest is above the level needed, l salute you:)

Quick edit, just finished this mission:). Whole thing most likely took 2-3 hrs game time, mostly in travel and the Castle was the easiest part. Kept invis and refresh up, only had one fight against 2 easy prey, at the last door[Bronze], someone was kind enough to pull one Yag away. Could have just waited lm sure for it to move out of harms way.

Hey, I'm a lvl 54 Taru BLM and I'm wondering how much of the mission I can solo. Maybe I can solo the whole thing? Or bring a tank along beacause of my feeble taru body, I dunno. I looked at the mobs found in the different areas and saw that there are a few lvl 60+ mobs. Do I ever encounter these through the course of the mission. Please reply. Thank you.
harder than some people make it out
# Nov 18 2005 at 5:26 PM Rating: Decent
I noticed two things:

#1- this mission IS a lot harder than you'd expect if you've just gotten to level 30. Perhaps you've never been to any of these three places (except maybe Davoi if you did PLD quest) so you might spend a lot of the time just figuring out where to go.

#2- the guide above is overly confusing in it's directions in Castle Oztroja. I got lost once I got upstairs and I was following the directions. Eventually (after I died) I was raised by two higher levels who were doing magicite missions and they took me where I needed to go.

Davoi WAS as easy as the guide said, Beaudeaux was easy because I had some friends in Linkshell kill the quads and sneak/inviz me. Castle O was by far the hardest part. Thank God its over.

I'm sorry but, people OTT this mission entirely. It was a piece of cake. No deaths. No links, 1 Aggro from a Priory(Yagudo) or w/e they are called, which was EP+- to me, and EP-- to the Pally, who might I add is such a good PLD, ;D Easy-peasy. Only had to convert once too.
Bead*tab* was the only "hardish" part but all was ok.

I read a few people get bashed about using a LVL 75 to help do the mission. I was just wondering...

What is the difference between me 34war/mnk asking a 54mnk/war and a 58pld/nin to help me as apposed to dropping 60K on sneak and invis.

I just did 3-3 lst night and we beat our way all the way up. 1.5 hours later I had swung my Twicer more than I ever had and had a blast. Of course I did 1/6 of the total damage of the 3 group party but I was in there the whole time.

But it is ok to pay 60K for the sneak/invis??? Why not just make it so you can buy the mission off?

Anyway... you do it your way I will do it mine ^^

Why not lvl your whm or rdm to lvl 25 and cast Sneak, and Invisible. This is alot more efficiant then buying Powder and Oils. I have yet to do this and am gana do my best with the help of a friend.

Well, to be honest. your way is a little safer but time comsuming. You could get a lvl 75 pld/nin to flash one yag and train them all the way to the magicite zones. This is loads of fun. Just make sure he get's the bats and pugs and whatever.

This mission is incredibly easy. People over estimate the difficulty of this. Just completed it for myself for the third time, at level 19 this time. In the passed I've helped over 15 people through it all together, the lowest being a level 20. It's all about patience. Chances are whoever actually needs rank 5 is gonna need sneak and invis the whole time regardless, so in essence, a high enough helper (one who can kill the beadeaux NM's, orcs at Wall of Dark Arts, and Yagudo by the last door with the torches, and who can raise in case of tragedy -or you bring reraise scroll- and you bring your own prisms and silent oils as well) this could potentially be done at lvl 1. I might try it with a friend in a lvl 1 job, just for fun.

So are you saying you bothered to change jobs to something lvl 20 or higher to get the mission assigned *NOTE your minimum level for this mission is 20!. why would you bother to change to a job lesser then what you have just to complete the mission???

So basically what you are saying... as long as I can chicken out in a safe corner with sneak and invis on and have one or two Level 75 muscles with me that solo the whole thing for me... this mission is kindergartenspiel.... congratulations. (/sigh)

This is a mission you are supposed to tackle at level 30-40. Try completing it with a full party of level 35's (as it was supposed to be done), then come tell me it is easy.

"This is a mission you are supposed to tackle at level 30-40. Try completing it with a full party of level 35's (as it was supposed to be done), then come tell me it is easy."

The hardest part of doing this, however, is gathering a full party of people wanting to do this mission with you. My plan is to lvl up what will end up being my sub job to 37, then do this to get the airship pass before going back to my lvl 18 job. I know I will need a party. I will end up asking my LS for help. However, my LS has a great variety of levels, and the fact is that the uber high level people are the same ones that are likely to want to help out.

Quite honestly, I'd love to do these missions how they are "supposed to" be done. I sometimes find completing them with high level help rather anti-climatic. But, I really have a hard time finding enough people that are just at my level, in the exact same situation as me, who are available and wanting to do a mission right at the same time I am available and wanting to do the mission.

Appologies for my verbosity. Point: It's not always out of laziness that people get high level help, but sometimes out of necessity.

[and, as a note, assuming I get mission 3-3 done as planned, if anyone on Fairy server would like to help me with this mission next week in the evenings, please send me a message or a /tell]

As of most missions and quest there's the easy way and the hard way. I've seen people not start this quest to lvl 60 and at lvl 60 you can sleep walk through it. The hard part is castle O cause I can never find a decent guide seeing there are so many quests here and a few good nm you'd think it would be easy to find a guide. Guide meaning a person to follow not a web site or something.

Just wanted to comment that this was an excellent guide for this mission. By following this guide, I was able to solo the whole mission at level 30. The only thing I got help for was killing the two NMs. Otherwise, the directions and warnings in the guide were spot on.

Also, thanks to Furyspawn for the warning to trade one item at a time.

since the update yesterday (or was it two days ago), the quadav have both been coming up as "impossible to gauge"...they are now officially NM (no longer simply "named"). I seem to recall one of them checking as EM to me (when I got rank 5) and the guy who wrote the original guide says they're not NMs...so I thought I'd share that tidbit.

I've been trying to complete the Castle Oztroja and Beadeux portions of this mission for the longest time with no luck.

When my THF was 36/37ish, I attempted the Oztroja portion solo. I made it to the torch all with Powders/Oils, but once I took off invis, a Yagudo killed me before I could light it.

My THF is now 41. I'm wondering, if I got to the torch again, take off invis and get aggro, would using Perfect Dodge allow me to light the torch?

Yes, with perfect dodge, you should be able to light the torches.

I don't believe just getting attacked causes you to fail the light, however, taking any damage does.

Easier way is to just wait for them to turn the other direction, then pop it.

An alliance for this mission is a horrible idea. Just get a 50+ friend to help you kill the Quadav for shell and charm and have them be your guide and this is easily obtainable in 3 hours.
I followed this guide when I was lvl 34 (62 now) and it all ended up in a big mass of confusion, frustating deaths, and a few B-lists. Rate down.

I soloed Davoi (the orcs were looking away from the wall, it was easy...they turn pretty frequently anyway and invis stacks so if you die, you're not doing it right).
Beadeaux...got higher level (50-55+) help for the quads...went to jeuno, got the key items, soloed the remainder. After the quads, easier than Davoi. Get hit with the muter...even without a whm you're better off to fight the quads muted. Curse got us killed/almost killed.

the problem wiht updating this guide is while yes doing almost anything with 18 ppl never works out unless your LS ppl

that aside its not that bad of a guide

tells you turn by turn how to get and kill stuff.

While yes the castle Oztroja part is exagerated i can see 18 ppl being a death wish.

Its a good guide cause it contains step by step details that you cant ignore.

In Beadeaux, only monsters you will encounter aggro to sound.

In Davoi, only the Orcs aggro where you'll be, and they detect by sight.

In Oztroja, all the Yagudo are sight-based, -but- there are also a few bats in the area, which makes going without sneak impossible unless you're 50~52. Then the bats won't aggro.
