Mission Orders

Capture the three magicites in Davoi, Beadeaux, and Castle Oztroja to prevent the Shadow Lord's return.

Walkthrough

This mission may need an alliance and or high level assistance. This mission can take up to several hours, depending on your setup!

Jeuno

Head to Ru'Lude Gardens and talk to your Ambassador. He will then give you a key item to obtain an audience with the Archduke of Jeuno. After the cutscene, you need to obtain key items to gain access to the strongholds of the beastmen.

Take the letter the Duke gave you and present it to Aldo of the Tenshodo inside Neptune's Spire in Lower Jeuno. If you are not a member of the Tenshodo you must become one before you can continue this mission. Either complete the quest for membership or buy a scroll from the Auction House. After a cutscene you will obtain a Silver Bell as one of the three for access to the Magicite in Beadeaux. Then, talk to Sattal-Mansal and he will tell you to bring him a Quadav Charm and a Quadav Augury Shell so that he can give you the last two key items needed for Beadeaux -- Key Items, Coruscant Rosary and Black Matinee Necklace.

Now, either fight Coeurls in Meriphataud Mountains for Coeurl Meat or buy a piece from the Auction House. Head to Upper Jeuno and talk to Baudin, who is next to a house across from the Chocobo Stables. Once the cutscene is over, trade him the meat and you will receive Davoi Charm.

Finally, just walk between the Armor and Weapon shops and talk to Paya-Sabya. After the cutscene, head to Muckvix's Junk Store in Lower Jeuno and talk to Muckvix in the back room. After a cutscene, you will receive a Yagudo Torch.

Now, it's time to head out.

Davoi

This one is quick and simple, but you may have to fight an Orcish Trooper or Orcish Gladiator at the Wall of Dark Arts. Once you enter Davoi, turn right, take top route to G-7, go to the southernmost point. You'll see the Wall of Dark Arts immediately.

Activate the wall, by clicking on it, pass through, and enter Monastic Cavern. There are no monsters in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall, click the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Optistone, warp back to Jeuno.

Castle Oztroja

Castle Oztroja will either be the longest or second longest task of the mission, because even to level 40+ everything will aggro halfway through, and the Yagudo appear in groups of three and four.

When you enter the castle, head to the door at (I-8). Have everyone stand back and away from the door. Send a Black Mage to test the levers, as if he triggers the trapdoor he can just Escape and come back. The lever combination changes with every game day, so just have one member try them. If the Black Mage is successful, then let him trigger the lever and have everyone else run inside the door.

Once inside, head to the right and up the stairs. You come to an intersection at (I-8) and need to head right. Follow this all the way straight and don't take the right turn at (I-7). Follow this until you come to another intersection, which is also on the second floor of the castle. DO NOT DROP DOWN, as you CAN fall. If you do, you have to start this all over again. Stay near the edge of the walls, and take the tunnel at (G-8), which will eventually lead you to an outside court at (G-7).

Again, you will be on an overpass and DON'T FALL DOWN. Go right and take the tunnel at (I-7). Once you enter the tunnel it's pretty straightforward. Head up the stairs, then down, and follow them until you reach an intersection. You're now heading into the lower depths of Castle Oztroja, where Yagudo Lutenists, Priors, Zealots, and Conquistadors are here, plentiful, and in groups of 2 - 4. If you're in an alliance of 35+ or even 40+, you will have to fight, so prepare yourselves.

Once you reach the intersection at (H-8), head right. Follow this through the bend, and go straight, ignoring the left turn at (G-9), and ignoring the left turn again at (G-9) when you follow the bend (if you look at the map, you'll see it's just a loop anyway). Follow this straight and you'll eventually come to the torch door -- this is what your Key Item: Yagudo Torch is for. Activate one of the two torches and wait for all members to appear on the other side.

Kill the few Yagudo here, and head right at the intersection at (H-10). Open the door, and enter the Altar Room. There's nothing in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall. Activate the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Orustone, warp back to Jeuno.

Beadeaux

This part of the mission is actually easy to complete, but you have to make two trips. The first trip deals with killing the two named Quadav (not Notorious Monsters) and getting enough drops for everyone. This can be either quick, or time consuming, depending on the size of the alliance.

Enter Beadeaux, go straight, and head left at the intersection at (F-7). Follow the bed and go straight, ignoring the open area to the right. Follow the bend and head sound into the tunnel at (H-7). The Land Pugils aggro here, so you may need to kill them for anyone in the the 30s.

Once in the tunnel, follow the winding path down until you reach an intersection at (H-7). Left is the way to the Qulun Dome, and the Magicite. However, you only have one of the three key items needed to open the door, so we need to go right. Follow this path until you come to an intersection, and head right at (G-7), for left is The Afflictor, which will *curse* you. You have to be silenced by The Muter, to not be cursed when walking past The Afflictor. You'll see The Muter and you need to click on it and *activate* it to become muted.

We had a White Mage that had Silena and Cursna, so she didn't get muted, but had everyone else do so. They went ahead and killed all the Quadav in the room of The Afflictor at (G-8), while she just allowed herself to be cursed. She uncursed herself, and cast Silena on the other mages. We let her rest up, and just went on with our business.

Once past the machines, follow the tunnel and ignore the right turn at (F-7) and follow the tunnel out into the above. Follow the tunnel until you come to another Muter machine. Now, here's how you get onto the top platform and avoid the machines. You need to go *clockwise* around this entire area. On other words you need to go from (F-9) east, then southeast to (H-9). Go from here southwest to (H-10), then west and then southwest to (F-10) (the afflicter machines should be *out* of your vision or *north* of you), and finally go west and then north to (E-10) to the little incline leading up onto the above ledges.

You need to follow the southern ridge of this (DON'T FALL OFF!) until you get to (J-9). There will be a little doorway pass with some torches nearby. This is where De'Vyu Headhunter spawns, and depending on your alliance you may have to fight him numerous times. He usually drops 3 Quadav Charms, but since we had two alliances he did drop 2 and then 4 once. However, 3 seems to be the median. His respawn time seems to be just about 15 minutes even, as we timed it when we had to kill him 8 times.

After every person has a charm, let's head back north to the starting area, but STAY ON THE LEDGE. You need to follow the ridge again until you get to (F-6), which is right by the entrance. At (F-6), near the two huts on the ledge, is where Go'Bhu Gascon will spawn. He drops the Quadav Augury Shell, the last of the two items needed, and like De'Vyu Headhunter, he drops a median of 3 shells per fight. His respawn time seems to be just about 15 minutes as well.

Once everyone has a Quadav Charm and a Quadav Augury Shell, head back to Jeuno. Enter the Neptune's Spire again and trade the items *ONE at a time* to Sattal-Mansa. For some reason, if you trade him both at the same time (this happened to one of our members), he gives you the key item for the first item put in. He also takes the second item, but doesn't give you credit for it, so you'll have to go back to fight one of the two named Quadav to get another one.

After everyone has their two key items, head back to Beadeaux. Head to the the Qulun Dome as mentioned above. There's nothing in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall. Activate the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Aurastone, warp back to Jeuno.

Jeuno

Head back to the Archduke and a cutscene will play. He will give you your airship pass! Then, head to your embassy and talk to the person behind the counter. You will then be recognized as having achieved Rank 5 and will be awarded 10,000gil as well! The assistant to the ambassador will then order you home.

If you already have an airship pass (for whatever reason), the Duke will give you an additional 20,000 gil, in addition to the 10,000 gil you receive from the embassy.

I as my WHM40 solod all of this save for the Quads. Davoi must have taken me all of 5 minutes, 3 of those waiting for the dumb Orc to move away from the wall so I could open it.

The Castle was a little tougher, but I have to say that those directions up there were spot on! I had little trouble finding the place, and I didn't have a map! I dropped invis too early at one point, and died (On the plus side, I got one of the biggest Yag chains you'll ever see!) but the second time it was a walk in the park.

Beadaux was easy too. I got my lvl 60 RDM Mentor to help me take the Quads, amd we got them both without a problem. As for getting into Quillin Dome...<Shaila falls asleep from bordem>...

All in all though it was fun, and I just love beating up beastmen^^ If you have sneak and invis and a decent sence of direction and/or maps, it's no trouble at all.

why is it 4-3?
# Feb 09 2005 at 10:25 PM Rating: Decent
I'm curious... why is this mission 4-3 when there are no other missions before it when you get rank 4? I know it has three parts, but if you divided it up it should be 4-1, 4-2, and then 4-3. Anyone know what's up?
RE: why is it 4-3?
# Feb 10 2005 at 4:41 AM Rating: Default
There is no 4-1, 4-2, 4-3. It can be done in any order you like. It's all one long mission.

You're missing my question. I'm asking why there isn't a 4-1, 4-2, or 4-3

The answer is: because it's really 4-1, and Allakhazam numbered it poorly and never fixed it. (Because up until this rank, the "rank-up mission" has always been something-3.)

Bugs the hell out of me, considering I see people everywhere refer to this as "4-3" just because Allakhazam calls it that, even though there aren't any other missions on rank 4. :P

Did this with my RL BF (DRK32) me (RDM42) and a RDM70 friend. The only part that gave us real trouble was Castle Oztroja. It was hard to keep Invis and Sneak up in the real congested areas, but we ended up just letting the 70RDM Diaga all of the Yags and had her lead us to where you light the torches.

I must say, I *loved* the storyline of this mission, probably my favorite thus far :)

For all the problems with triing to get the cut scene's in jeuno.
simple fix: You must speak to Aldo and Sattal-Mansal in the Tenshodo HQ prior to speaking to other NPC's otherwise you haven't meet flickbix or Aldo's sister yet.
hope that helps out!

Same as Starrless. I'm a 36rdm/18blm and I solo'd Castle Oztrajo. Sneak and invis the entire way and after you light the torches just run like hell and take rights. I needed help in Beadeaux to get the drops though.

I just finished the Mission as Galka rdm34/blm17. I was able to solo the complete mission except for obtaining the Quadav Charm and Quadav Augery Shell in Beadeaux. You need some high level to defeat the Quadavs. The rest of the mission is completly doable solo with Sneak and Invisible. I only had trouble after lighting the torches in Castle Oztrajo where the guards at the door aggroed me but with the door open it is a short run to the Altar room. I got lucky and picked the correct lever to open the first door in the castle.
Ambassador is locked in
# Jan 23 2005 at 12:37 PM Rating: Decent
I completed rank4, But when I got back to my ambassador she won't allow me in ("Restricted Area"). Nor the elvaan at the entrance would be of any help.

DO I have to return to Sandoria?
Or is a matter or rank point? My rank bar is actually very low but i don't see the point in giving crystal to gain access to the Ambassador.

Could you help me out?

I had the same problem, in order to be able to enter the Amdassador's room your rank points must be filled half way from giving the gaurd crystals

# Jan 19 2005 at 11:38 PM Rating: Decent
I was getting ready for this quest, and i traded the Coeurl Meat to Baudin after the cutscene and i received Key Item: Crest of Davoi instead of Key Item: Davoi Charm like the guide says. is this right? or did i do something wrong? I am bastokan on Asura server BTW. Thanks in advance for your reply.

You are right, after trading the Meat you will receive the Key Item: Crest of Davoi, not Davoi Charm.

I have only taken Du'Vyu The Headhunter so I only know about this. I was in a party of three people, when I killed him he dropped 3 charms. It is a possibility he drops 1 per party member, not sure about Go'Bhu Gascon though, he might only drop one. Than again, I have THF60 solo him for me XD He's helping me today get the shell :D
Stupid glitch!! ><

Helping someone do this quest and as usual, my memory refuses to be useful in any way. I remember the glitch 2 seconds after he trades in both items. Now we gotta go all the way back to Beadeaux.

Say what you want about Oztroja. I hate Beadeaux for being such a pain in so many ways. ><

In response to the not getting a Yagudo Torch, I think I know the answer. While walking around during the mission, talking to random NPC's just to see if I could get new quests, I talked to the young girl trying to grow seeds given to her by Fickie while the young Galka continues to say they won't grow. When you talk to her you get a cutscene (This is the "walk between the armor and weapon shops and talk to Paya-Sabya" part, poorly explained above. They are found in Upper Jeuno, take your first right away from the church.) When I talked to the gobbies for the torch later on I had no problems, but that was the first time I had talked to them (I was never turned down) so I can't be sure this is the right answer.

Oztroja is by far the worst leg of this. You have to drop invis to get around and I got a DC aggro (DRG50 at the time) in the process. Luckily I healed a WAR72 minutes prior and had some help through that.

Davoi was an easy run with invis, if there are hard Orcs near the Wall of Evil, just run through, it's a short run to the zone. NOTE: If you try to walk your way out they WILL aggro you through the Wall of Evil.

Beadeaux was... long and boring but not hard at all. I solo'd the NM's for the items as a DRG50/WHM25 without having to throw one Healing Breath (EP--'s to me). The only problem was getting muted and not bringing echo drops. Again, the kindness of a stranger with Silena saved me from having to wait out the Muter's effect.

All in all, Oztroja was the most stressful for me. Bring friends or pray you're much higher than the Yags there. Being 50 is no insurance, even at 50+ you could get one aggro but then two or more links because of how they group together.

Good luck!

EDIT: I'd also like to mention this Mission, unlike all previous (-2.3), has very interesting and entertaining FMV's, be sure you have time to watch them and go "and the plot thickens!"

Bad Directions
# Dec 24 2004 at 3:15 PM Rating: Decent
Took me over a week to do this between finding help and getting lost. The short version of the post is this: You need Sneak and Invis unless you are 55+ or looking to do a LOT of fighting, if you intend to solo/duo this. The direcions above are not as clear as you might want to believe. If I felt like I wanted to go through these areas again I would post more accurate concise directions. Just be careful and keep this in mind when doing the mission.

In my run of this I found out if a member of your party forgets the yagudo torch you can tractor him/her through that door but they can't complete the quest unfortunately. I know, bummer.
