Mission Orders

Capture the three magicites in Davoi, Beadeaux, and Castle Oztroja to prevent the Shadow Lord's return.

Walkthrough

This mission may need an alliance and or high level assistance. This mission can take up to several hours, depending on your setup!

Jeuno

Head to Ru'Lude Gardens and talk to your Ambassador. He will then give you a key item to obtain an audience with the Archduke of Jeuno. After the cutscene, you need to obtain key items to gain access to the strongholds of the beastmen.

Take the letter the Duke gave you and present it to Aldo of the Tenshodo inside Neptune's Spire in Lower Jeuno. If you are not a member of the Tenshodo you must become one before you can continue this mission. Either complete the quest for membership or buy a scroll from the Auction House. After a cutscene you will obtain a Silver Bell as one of the three for access to the Magicite in Beadeaux. Then, talk to Sattal-Mansal and he will tell you to bring him a Quadav Charm and a Quadav Augury Shell so that he can give you the last two key items needed for Beadeaux -- Key Items, Coruscant Rosary and Black Matinee Necklace.

Now, either fight Coeurls in Meriphataud Mountains for Coeurl Meat or buy a piece from the Auction House. Head to Upper Jeuno and talk to Baudin, who is next to a house across from the Chocobo Stables. Once the cutscene is over, trade him the meat and you will receive Davoi Charm.

Finally, just walk between the Armor and Weapon shops and talk to Paya-Sabya. After the cutscene, head to Muckvix's Junk Store in Lower Jeuno and talk to Muckvix in the back room. After a cutscene, you will receive a Yagudo Torch.

Now, it's time to head out.

Davoi

This one is quick and simple, but you may have to fight an Orcish Trooper or Orcish Gladiator at the Wall of Dark Arts. Once you enter Davoi, turn right, take top route to G-7, go to the southernmost point. You'll see the Wall of Dark Arts immediately.

Activate the wall, by clicking on it, pass through, and enter Monastic Cavern. There are no monsters in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall, click the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Optistone, warp back to Jeuno.

Castle Oztroja

Castle Oztroja will either be the longest or second longest task of the mission, because even to level 40+ everything will aggro halfway through, and the Yagudo appear in groups of three and four.

When you enter the castle, head to the door at (I-8). Have everyone stand back and away from the door. Send a Black Mage to test the levers, as if he triggers the trapdoor he can just Escape and come back. The lever combination changes with every game day, so just have one member try them. If the Black Mage is successful, then let him trigger the lever and have everyone else run inside the door.

Once inside, head to the right and up the stairs. You come to an intersection at (I-8) and need to head right. Follow this all the way straight and don't take the right turn at (I-7). Follow this until you come to another intersection, which is also on the second floor of the castle. DO NOT DROP DOWN, as you CAN fall. If you do, you have to start this all over again. Stay near the edge of the walls, and take the tunnel at (G-8), which will eventually lead you to an outside court at (G-7).

Again, you will be on an overpass and DON'T FALL DOWN. Go right and take the tunnel at (I-7). Once you enter the tunnel it's pretty straightforward. Head up the stairs, then down, and follow them until you reach an intersection. You're now heading into the lower depths of Castle Oztroja, where Yagudo Lutenists, Priors, Zealots, and Conquistadors are here, plentiful, and in groups of 2 - 4. If you're in an alliance of 35+ or even 40+, you will have to fight, so prepare yourselves.

Once you reach the intersection at (H-8), head right. Follow this through the bend, and go straight, ignoring the left turn at (G-9), and ignoring the left turn again at (G-9) when you follow the bend (if you look at the map, you'll see it's just a loop anyway). Follow this straight and you'll eventually come to the torch door -- this is what your Key Item: Yagudo Torch is for. Activate one of the two torches and wait for all members to appear on the other side.

Kill the few Yagudo here, and head right at the intersection at (H-10). Open the door, and enter the Altar Room. There's nothing in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall. Activate the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Orustone, warp back to Jeuno.

Beadeaux

This part of the mission is actually easy to complete, but you have to make two trips. The first trip deals with killing the two named Quadav (not Notorious Monsters) and getting enough drops for everyone. This can be either quick, or time consuming, depending on the size of the alliance.

Enter Beadeaux, go straight, and head left at the intersection at (F-7). Follow the bed and go straight, ignoring the open area to the right. Follow the bend and head sound into the tunnel at (H-7). The Land Pugils aggro here, so you may need to kill them for anyone in the the 30s.

Once in the tunnel, follow the winding path down until you reach an intersection at (H-7). Left is the way to the Qulun Dome, and the Magicite. However, you only have one of the three key items needed to open the door, so we need to go right. Follow this path until you come to an intersection, and head right at (G-7), for left is The Afflictor, which will *curse* you. You have to be silenced by The Muter, to not be cursed when walking past The Afflictor. You'll see The Muter and you need to click on it and *activate* it to become muted.

We had a White Mage that had Silena and Cursna, so she didn't get muted, but had everyone else do so. They went ahead and killed all the Quadav in the room of The Afflictor at (G-8), while she just allowed herself to be cursed. She uncursed herself, and cast Silena on the other mages. We let her rest up, and just went on with our business.

Once past the machines, follow the tunnel and ignore the right turn at (F-7) and follow the tunnel out into the above. Follow the tunnel until you come to another Muter machine. Now, here's how you get onto the top platform and avoid the machines. You need to go *clockwise* around this entire area. On other words you need to go from (F-9) east, then southeast to (H-9). Go from here southwest to (H-10), then west and then southwest to (F-10) (the afflicter machines should be *out* of your vision or *north* of you), and finally go west and then north to (E-10) to the little incline leading up onto the above ledges.

You need to follow the southern ridge of this (DON'T FALL OFF!) until you get to (J-9). There will be a little doorway pass with some torches nearby. This is where De'Vyu Headhunter spawns, and depending on your alliance you may have to fight him numerous times. He usually drops 3 Quadav Charms, but since we had two alliances he did drop 2 and then 4 once. However, 3 seems to be the median. His respawn time seems to be just about 15 minutes even, as we timed it when we had to kill him 8 times.

After every person has a charm, let's head back north to the starting area, but STAY ON THE LEDGE. You need to follow the ridge again until you get to (F-6), which is right by the entrance. At (F-6), near the two huts on the ledge, is where Go'Bhu Gascon will spawn. He drops the Quadav Augury Shell, the last of the two items needed, and like De'Vyu Headhunter, he drops a median of 3 shells per fight. His respawn time seems to be just about 15 minutes as well.

Once everyone has a Quadav Charm and a Quadav Augury Shell, head back to Jeuno. Enter the Neptune's Spire again and trade the items *ONE at a time* to Sattal-Mansa. For some reason, if you trade him both at the same time (this happened to one of our members), he gives you the key item for the first item put in. He also takes the second item, but doesn't give you credit for it, so you'll have to go back to fight one of the two named Quadav to get another one.

After everyone has their two key items, head back to Beadeaux. Head to the the Qulun Dome as mentioned above. There's nothing in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall. Activate the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Aurastone, warp back to Jeuno.

Jeuno

Head back to the Archduke and a cutscene will play. He will give you your airship pass! Then, head to your embassy and talk to the person behind the counter. You will then be recognized as having achieved Rank 5 and will be awarded 10,000gil as well! The assistant to the ambassador will then order you home.

If you already have an airship pass (for whatever reason), the Duke will give you an additional 20,000 gil, in addition to the 10,000 gil you receive from the embassy.

Ok just to squash the myth (if it hasn't been done before).

Party: WAR42/RNG21, WHM41/20
Time: 2-3 Hours
Breakdown:
- Beadeaux = 1 Hour
- Castle Oztroja = 30 Mins
- Davoi = 5 Mins
- Misc Running Around = 30 Mins ~ 1 Hour

Notes: Ok basically I think we could have done this in 2 hours if it wasn't for Named Mobs not doing what we wanted and our net dropping out at the second last door. Basically with Sneak/Invisible if you can't do Davoi and Beadeaux in under 5 mins then your moogle should verbally abuse you next time you're in your MH.

For us the biggest time waster was probably getting the Charm and Shell. We were trying to get Gascon to come down just from the lower part of the entrance. Before the WHM got there I provoked it down without a link easily, but that was only testing. When it came to the real thing I think it took us about 10-15 before he came close enough to Provoke down. From that we got one Shell ; ;

Next we headed for Headhunter with Sneak. Got there found him straight away, but there was a heap of possible links so it took us another 10-15 just to clear out the Quad's around. Now to a 42WAR he con'd as T--, which I thought would be a semi easy fight. Wrong, we nearly died, but luckily I had TP enough for the killing blow, before he killed me. He tends to drop multiple charms most times.

From here we raced back to get Gascon again, 3-4min fight and we got 4 shells. If only we got that the first time.

Oztroja was a kind of mess, not on our behalf but our ISP. We came up to the 2nd last door, the one you need the Torch for. I get through, but the WHM downed Invisible and then our internet cut out. 10 mins later it was back on and we logged in. I had taken 50% damage during timeout, she was fine, though now she was invisible less with two Yagudo about to attack her. She gets through the door without it being interrupted luckily and takes the death.

I was sitting in fear of them coming after me, or the ones down the end of the hall seeing me. She re-raised and we invisible ourself run around the corner and through the Brass Door. DING! So all up this would have taken us about 20-30 max if it wasn't for our ISP.

So looking back at the suggestion and time taken. Sure it would take 8 hours if you were taking an alliance cause there would be that much downtime due to aggro. I think anyone with Sneak/Invisible could solo this (with only a few close calls), or if you can't Sneak/Invisible and don't want to get the items ask a high level to help. There is no need to overkill this mission and waste hours on it.

Tips: Bring an Instant Warp Scroll if no BLM40+ and you are a Melee Class. Don't rush the Doors that require you to drop Invisible (Davoi, Castle Oztroja) wait for the right moment. Know your aggro, remember what aggro's to what and try to keep only what's necessary on, it saves MP.

Just thought I would share my experience in castle oztroja. The first time trying I was in an alliance of 9. Only because most of us needed it and we had a couple high lvl helpers (i was a 44blm...most others in mid 40s as well). Well it was a complete disaster because 1) no one knew the way even though they said they did and 2) no one could stay together. The poor high lvls were working extra hard trying to protect all the little fractions. Needless to say after aimlessly walking around for about 2hrs I left. Next day I was so frustrated about not finishing I decided to suicide solo it just cause I wanted no help after the previous incident. I went as 36whm\smn this time. I was in and out with my magicite in less than an hour. Sneak\invis all the way to the last door then it got to strategy. Smned an earth elemental from a corner, recast invis and ran to door (also cast stoneskin and blink). Dropped invis to open door...got aggro from the two yagudo there. Stoneskin and blink took it....earth ele kept one busy as my buffs saved me from the other. Ran as fast as my taru butt could past another 2 before they could act and zoned into magicite area. Sorry for long story to show moral......good planning and patience is better sometimes than large numbers and groups. And don't be afraid to try things on your own and experiment!! Thanks for your patience!

This is gona sound dumb but who do I trade crystals to in jeuno to get my rank points up to start the mission. I'm assuming the ambassador is in the windhurst embassy I cant remember, but the diir always says restricted area and I can't go in.I'm guessing that if I trade enough tcrystals to whoever that the door will open and I can see the ambassador guy and get my letter to see the archduke. So can somebody help me out, who do I trad ethe crystals to in jeuno to score rank points?

In the gardens there is a guard who can cast signet I believe. He is when you walk in and try to trade the cheapest crystals to him and watch your rank points go up.

I had to do this myself so look for him and it should work.

I am a 35 RDM\17 BLM and trying to get through the Magicite areas with Sneak and Invis. I had help with the Beadeaux drops and then no problem doing Davoi and Beadeaux magicite runs solo.

My big challenge is the Castle. I tried twice and both times got stuck right at the last torch door. My problem is that after I drop Invis I can never get through the door without aggro even when they turn around. Once through the door I get aggro from behind it as they can see through the door I guess.

I have tried to ask for help there but no luck so far. Can anyone give me advice how to get past the Castle torch door using sneak\invis? Any tips and tricks?

I am soooo close with this.....

i've done this mission last night, the reason for it just i want a airship pass, i don't care what rank i am, airship pass can save me lots time. and i ask my housemate to help me, he's been play this game for two years, with most job lv75, but as usual, he's busy, he told me to get ready, get all key items, this was the hartest part to me, i spended 5000 gil for just a tenshoto ticket, and spend long time to found out where those relate NPC is, and i ask a lv55 rdm where can i get the charm and shell, he told me where, and helped me get them. (very nice) the get ready part took me 1.5-2 hours.
and then i back to jeuno and ask my housemate help, he use lv75mnk/whm tele me and lead me to those place(he's got a weapon can warp him back),me just use lv21blm (easy to warp back to hp) all the time sneak and inviable. done this part in about half hour!!

a good player is much much helpful, they knows the way, knows the monsters, knows everything. thx a lot, so i can enjoy airship at this low level.

Did this mission solo as a lvl 50 Bst today. Davoi was easy, just threw on invisible near the wall and waited for the orcs to face away.

Beadaux was pretty easy too, luckily pulled Go'Bhu off the top without links. Then had fun navigating through beadaux without a map, but found my way to de'vyu annd killed him without links as well. After all that getting the magicite was easy.

Castle Oztroja was easy enough with the guide here. I didn't run into a trap door so I was lucky i guess. Invis'd my way through much of it and only had to deal with yagudo when I got to the torches. tried same trick as in davoi but i had to move to the other side of the torch and got aggrod. Lucily I had a bat pet charmed and used it to attack the yagudo as i went through the door. Then I just made a dash for the door to the altar room. Got out just mostly retracing my steps, though i should warn that the torch door is locked from the other side, so yo'll have to go around the other way.
Maybe some help PLEASE!

Ok I soloed this as lvl 45 Thf/War except for the two named mobs you need to get the Quadav Charm and Augury Shell. Things to look out for:

1) I COULDN'T fall off the ledge in Oztroja. This is important when you think you have a shortcut out and just decide to make a train >.>
2) If you don't have help for Beadeaux NM's don't shout for help just search the area and start individually asking higher lvls (ppl tend to have a hard time saying no if asked directly).

Other than my Castle Oztroja incident, where I died, hide got me through this and all total I spent 5 hours.

i did this quest just yesterday.

got a lvl 56 rdm to come and we got through beadeaux easily although it was really annoying.
i was payin this guy, but he didnt tell me anythin about the key items needed. so we got to the orc barrier in davoi and i couldnt get throught it. he was like "WTF" and he warped bak to jeuno and disbanded. so i walked bak to jeuno and did the quests to get the key items.

The next day i got a wm friend and we got through davoi easily. Then we headed to Oztroja and it was much harder. we died close to the zone to the altar room, but we got raised and we made it to the altar room with a train of 10 yagudos behind us lol.
anyway this mission will take 3-4 hours if ur lucky.

i did the mission by myself at level 40, but then again im a rdm ^^. It didn't take me 8 hours at all, the mission is pretty easy if you get help acquiring all the key items. I got the drops quickly then got the maps to all the places and was on my way. Sneak and invis will allow you to get through all of these places without a scratch just make sure to have a mage with you or buy the potions. Warp scrolls were pretty useful for travel and I think the mission was completed in 5-6 hours or less.

Got my rank 5, woot go lvl 30 thf!

Just brought along some oils and powders (used one sack of each for entire mission) and finished it in about 2 hours (4 if you count waiting for the nm's to spawn.)

Castle O is nuts long, but the other two are so easy to find it's pathetic.

A full rank bar is not required to begin this mission. I was able to recieve this mission afer trading only 1 or 2 stacks of crystals and leveling in the Crawler's Nest with Signat on, bringing my rank bar to about 1/3 to 1/2 full.

I don't remember the exact crystal count traded, but my rank bar was not quite 1/2 full when I started the mission.

I just completed this last night.
Well, I did the final piece of it anyway.

I did 98% of it SOLO at level 47WAR.
Thanks for nothing Broken LS and the
static party that is soooo static nothing
happens.

The order i did it:
Davoi: I only got throught the door because
some other guy had the two tough orcs' attention.

Ostroja: 7 Prism Powders and a lot of patience
at the torch door. (and nerves of steel)

Beaudeaux: Purchased the Quadav Augery Shell from
a bazaar then later that day killed the very same
NM by myself. Mabuss joined me to help and he
helped me kill Headhunter for TEH WIN.

I also studied this guide and made it much more
consice and easier to understand. I photoshopped
some maps with bright red lines for the path to
take. That was most helpful in Ostroja.

Very Easy!

My husband (44 PLD/22 WAR) just solo'd 4-2 and 4-3 tonight. Prism powder/silent oil got him through Castle Oztrajo. There were 2 higher levels Yagudo's blocking the torch door, whiched conned 'Even' to him - but he just waited until their backs were turned, dropped the invisible and lit the torch... wasn't jumped. Davoi was insanely easy, he didn't even see anything along the way and nothing bothered him.

I just completed this mission and 8 hour is totally full of crap.
I did beadeuax first. the longest part of the mission by far. only because noone had a clue where they were going until i came on and got the directions. part one 3 hours.
Then i solod davoi. walk in the park. one prism powder got me to the wall and a higher lvl pld was beating on the orc nearby. part two 3 hours 15 minutes.
Then i stealed myself and tried for oztroja. I made a trip with a rdm casting sneak and invis on me the whole time. got to the torches and i got killed by the yags because the stupid door wouldn't open. had to hp. went back again solo with a stack of prism powder and silent oil. got to the door as a pt of 50's eliminated the yags in front. opened the door and ran through. pretty easy if u know what you're doing. all three magicites aquired in about 4 and a half hours.
No alliance is needed at all. in fact with the trouble i had getting a pt for beadeaux this would just take longer to get together. I had a full pt of six that took an hour to set up. i shudder at the setup time for a larger group.
Just got it done

Well I must say, whoever says this mission takes 8 hours or longer either was extraordinarily inefficient or going in way too large a group. I just finished this mission last night.

I did all three parts with sneak or invis, which I really wouldn't recommend. For Castle Oztroja, I went with a 50DRK and a 50PLD from my LS (I am a 48SAM). I had to be pretty sneaky and lucky to make it by some of the Yagudo. Most of them checked 'too weak to be worthwhile' to me, but a handful were 'easy prey'. That wouldn't be a big deal to fight one (especially w/ a PLD and a DRK) but the fact that there are 700 Yags in there means they have potential to link a lot and cause a lot of problems. With sneak and invis, this part should be a breeze.

Davoi was the quickest of the three. I went with the same 50PLD. Again, things were checking 'easy prey' from time to time, and by the Wall of Dark Arts there was one 'Decent Challenge' and two 'Easy Prey'. The PLD aggrod them all, used Invincible, and a scroll of Instant Warp while I waltzed by and went in for the Magicite. Done in 20 minutes.

Beadeaux was a little bit tougher. There are the two Named Monsters that you have to kill, and they are far from pushovers. I managed to find a 52WHM in Jeuno who was willing to help me. We headed out to Beadeaux. This place is very confusing. Eventually, we found De'Vyu Headhunter. He checked 'decent challenge' to me and 'easy prey' to the WHM. We buffed up, and the WHM cast Dia II on him. Of course, one of the Quadavs nearby had to link. I two-houred, just to be safe, and we took both of them down without too much concern. After that, we rested up, and went to find Go'Bhu Gascon. Again, the WHM cast Dia II, and again, a second Quadav linked. Killed them both easily. Instant Warped back to Jeuno, got my items, and then came back a 60RDM from my LS so he could show me the way. Got the magicite, ran back to Jeuno, Rank 5.

I would recommend getting help from another 50+ if you're level 50, and having a mage there to sneak and invis people. It was too terrible w/o it, but it would be safer to have one. Unless you are level 55+ or so. Then you can solo this no problem I am sure.

This misison is in fact long, but not hard at all. As a less than lvl 40 rdm I easily could have soloed both Davoi and Casttle Oztroja because of sneak and invis. Having a map and luck, or even just luck is all you need. I won't kid myself that I could have handled Beaudaux alone, had a lvl 60+ drk help me there, butthe rest isn't too hard. Btw, this is in a sense 3 missions in 1, so its not too long. Just one plea, if you have friends without sneak and invis who want to do this, help them. It's low risk for you but a great help to your friends when they dont get killed and find the way easy. I have so far done each mission twice, except Davoi. Help the poor non-mages ^^

This mission really isn't as hard as everyone makes it out to be. I'm 41WHM, and I went in with a 40BLM, 50BLM and later on a 59WHM to help with Invis and Sneak.

Got the items needed from Jeuno all at once (except the Beadeaux one, but that was our first task) and headed out.

The 40BLM, 50BLM and myself had no trouble taking down the two NM Quadavs, but we did get aggroed by surrounding ones occasionally. Just Sneak/Invis through it and you should be fine. The only annoying part of this whole ordeal was that people were camping the Quadavs we were after and stealing it from us....

As for Davoi, very easy... again, just Sneak/Invis yourself and be careful around the cave that the Orcs don't aggro you if they still will.

The castle was full of Yagudo, and it was long, MP draining and annoying, but again the same deal: Sneak and Invis through if you're lower than around 50 and you'll be fine.

Mission isn't so much hard as it is long and frustrating (especially the castle).

Thanks to Dravenus, Tritona and Ashraya for all their help on this mission. ^^
