Description

Talk to Vera, located in the bottom left of Mhaura (G-10). It seems she appears during the evening and night.

She will ask for a Wild Rabbit Tail. Kill Mighty Rahabs, located all over the Buburimu Peninsula.

Return to her, and she will ask you for a Cup of Dhalmel Saliva. Kill Bull Dhalmels, located mainly on the eastern and southern portions of the Peninsula.

Return again, and she will ask you for a Bloody Robe. Kill Bogys along the beach (G-9 and H-9) on the Peninsula between the game hours of 20:00 and 04:00. These are quite difficult and may require a full group of lvl 18s to defeat without anybody dying.

Return and she will award you with the ability to get a sub-job.

Note: Bogys are the most difficult portion of this quest, and it is generally considered easier to complete the Selbina sub-job quest.

faster drop rate
# Apr 08 2007 at 3:29 PM Rating: Decent
I found that the drop rate here is much better than say doing the same quest in selbena.

But you got a better chance of finding the items in the dunes when in partys.
need help?

If anyone on siren needs help with this quest, /tell teuvige.

(free, but tips are accepted =P)
Quest is suprisingly easy

This quest is suprisingly easy if you think bout it now...

Ppl say Ghouls are the hardest to find.. for teh skull which is couldn't be futhur from the truth

Ghouls can be found in Gusgen Mines which if you had a 30+ with ya they can take em out no prob and you'll have a fresh new.. well not fresh, and deffintly not new.. Skull

the Robe can also be found in Gusgen since Bogys pop there alot.. 24/7 same as Ghouls so both quests are pretty easy if you visit Gusgen for all your deadly needs
Wow

Got a higher lvl guy Maheh 75mnk/37thf to help and in about 15mins me and two others had dhalmel saliva and bloody robes. He was 3/4 on bogys and finished getting items in no time.

Does anyone know do I need special ship pass from selbina to Mhaura like the Air Travel Agency?

Subjob

I think that the Selbina quest is a lot easier than this one, when i needed the quest my LS did the whole thing in about two hours give or take, and i didnt even know there was a alternate to this quest, guess it depends on where your hometown is
omg...

Who that needs the item can actually get it?! I mean God Damn... I feel sorry for anyone that did the Mhaura Sub Job Quest...

Do the Selbina one I mean my god... by the time you can kill this thing You should HAVE a Sub-job...
(if you want the Quest done Easy Send me a tell on Kujata I'll help if I got time)

This had to have been the easiest quest I have done in a while. (if you can get a high lvl to help you out for like 20 min)

The drop rates on these items are so high its not even funny.

I decided to try this one instead of selbina, just because there are a million people in the dunes and almost none in the peninsula. First rabbit I fight i get the tail. Then I saw a ls member and joined up with him. (He's like 40-ish warrior) The worst drop rate was for the dhalmel spit. It took like 10 kills to get that one. And the robe dropped on the 3rd bogy he fought. All you need is a high-lvl buddy who can spare 20-30min, and you are golden.

I've already done the Selbina Sub-Job Quest. I just wanted to do this quest for fun, and so I had a quest completed in Mhaura. I mean, I got the Bloody Robe a long time back in Gusgen Mines from a bogy. So I figured one day I will just come to the Buburimu Peninsula and just do this one, NOT because i need it, just cause i like completing quests, the role player in me. SO today I went and got the saliva and the wild rabbit's tail. I went to talk to Vera and she told me the following... "Eh? What does an adventurer like you want with me? Shouldn't you be out fighting beastmen, brining peace to the world and all that?" Thats is... no quest *sobs* :( I just wanted to complete it since i had the robe and to boost my Mhaura fame of which i have none. It hurts knowing my time is wasted, even if i have a sub job already Square/Enix should let you do it just to get the fame. :(

When I reached 17 with my RDM I was really looking forward to get the items for this quest. I'm a patriotic windsturian, and although I read that this one was harder than selbina's, and since bubu was under Windst control, I decided to take a chance.

I got into a PT that was xping in the Mhaura zone line. 5 member Pt was good, around 17-19. They were killing dhalmels, and 2nd one throw spit, but it seemed I was the only one who needed it. Everyone else had it, had subjob or wanted selbina's quest instead. Dhalmels con VT, IT to me. So, In 20 minutes I had my 1st item. Nobody was interested on going for bogys or raabs, but since I hadn't reached 18 yet, I decided to xp with the PT for sometime... nice xp in the zone line!... until a huge goblin train passed next to us and killed me and sent all the PT to Mhaura, barely living and poisoned.

The party decided to disband, and I got a raise from some WHM passing by... I actually didn't need it, there are 2 Homepoints close by and I was on Mhaura's, but I thought it was rude to deny the raise...

Another PT invited me, and although they were headed to maze, I convinced them to go hunt rabbits... the 5 member PT was 15-17. We killed about 5 rabbits and got 2 tails. Funny thing, 3 members of the PT had already made their mind for the selbina quest, so in less than 40 minutes I had 2 items. Killing raabs and getting crystals (A LOT of crystals... We probably got around 6 per raab, and from the other ocassional mobs we got lighthing and some other nice stuff... ) I managed to grow to 18, even with my recent death.

The PT disbanded, since it was sunday night... but I wanted my subjob. As I read about the /beg approach, started looking for some friendly high levels. I decided to look in person (not by /sea), and the first guy that I found happened to be a 30 mnk / 14 rdm... a japanese mythra. Well, after struggiling with the translator, she understood me what I wanted, and accepted. Took me to the beach that is just south west from Mhaura's entrance... not even a minute away... first mob we found? a bogy, conned VT to me. (VT?? I read that they were hard for 30's!! VT????) Yes, VT. Maybe a full 17-18 PT can take it. Anyway, I was alone with my super monk mate, and went for it.

From the beggining, while I casted dia, I could tell the mnk was not really doing any harm on the bogy... He wasn't being hurt either, but I guess physical attacks are nearly useless... so I started casting cure II in the bogy again and again... when my mp was empty, the bogy had less than 10% of hp... my hp was full since my mnk cured me a couple of times when the thing aggroed me. I noticed he never casted cure on the bogy, so I could say that 70% of the damage was mine. Anyway, less than a minute of fight, and the bogy was back to the other world. And in the first drop? Yes, bloody robe. Couldn't thank my mnk enough...

I don't know, maybe I got real lucky. But I think this subquest is rather easy, and just in case, finding high levels here is very common. Dropping rates seem to be as high as they can be for rares. And more than anything else... IT IS FUN!

Anakat - Mythra 18 RDM/4 MNK
Odin

-Why my main is rdm, and my second a mnk, and my race a Mythra? Because I'm playing ... just for fun.

Bloody robe
# Apr 29 2004 at 1:24 PM Rating: Decent
I havn't read all of the replies so this may seem dumb if it cant be done.

I was partying with a high lvl to get the ever so sought after magicked skull, and also obtained a bloody robe because I did not know what it was for. I don't want it to go to waste since I have obtained it so if someone wants (assuming it can be traded, since its a rare itme) let me know. However, be warned partying for the skull was the greatest thing ever and was a very worthwhile experience so don't cheat yourself.
Bogy
# Apr 25 2004 at 3:24 PM Rating: Decent
I was killing bogy' as a lvl 35BLM with some difficulty. If I binded the bogy, I could kill it with all my HP remaining but most of my MP would be gone.

Since I cant seem to be able to edit my post, I'll also say that I can kill Ghouls in 2 hits with my magic.
Bogys

How hard are Bogys? I'm a 30 rdm with some friends who are coming close to this quest. I completed the other quest for my sub and have no desire to hunt for ghouls again.

I was feeling nice the other day, so I found a random level 17 WAR get all his items for this quest. it's much faster than the Selbina one, so if you're going to get help from a higher level, they'd probably appreciate Bogies more than Ghouls. 1 Bogy, we got Robe, 1 Dhalmel, we got saliva, about 5 rarabs, we got tail.
Maybe bogys aren't that hard!
# Feb 03 2004 at 12:22 PM Rating: Excellent
Our regular group of 4 completed this quest last night at level 19 by killing the last two bogies ourselves. Yes, a group of just 4 19s killed a bogy, twice, no deaths. It was hard, but not that hard -- we could have killed more if we had needed em.

Our strategy: camp the ramp at the north beach and level up while hoping to either 1) get the robes from a high level group hunting the SMN ruby, 2) get the Magicked Skulls that drop there and switch to Selbina, or 3) level high enough to kill the bogies ourselves.

We got the first two using the /beg approach, but on Asura the number of those needing robes far exceeds the number of folks willing and able to help out. Hence #2 and #3.

We got the two Magicked Skulls next... they dropped from the ghouls that pop near the ramp about one in three times. The ghouls were about do-able a couple of levels earlier than the bogies. After we got the second skull, there was a Tough bogy handy, so we decided 'what the heck, we'll give it a try'. We had some TP banked before we started and it was still a hard fight... about the same as a winnable IT. Then we found another a few minutes and repeated.

Our group of four wears level-appropriate gear (nothing godly), eats stat food, does renkei, job abilities and magic bursts at every opportunity, watches the weather/days/elements, etc. Each knows their job and does it well. I'd say we are good players, but again not godly. The team at bogy-killing-time was:

19WHM/9BLM Taru
19RDM/9BLB Taru
19THF Mithra
19WAR Elvaan

That's it. I'd say if your group can handle ITs at 19, you can certainly handle bogies. It certainly was a rush to do this ourselves, after reading all the dire warnings here. The ramp is a great grinding spot btw, and you'll be swimming in Dhamel spit there heh.

actually bogy's con weaker than what they actually are because of their very very very high defense. only offensive spells and weapon skills would do any real damage to the bogy.
EASY (and LUCKY) for ME!

One night I saw a 58drg/29war lovely cat lady in Bubu Pen. She helped me killed a bogy and mighty rabbits. I got Bloody Robe after she killed 1 bogy, and got Rabbit's Tail after she killed like 15 Mighty Rabbits. I got saliva from dhalmel while getting regular exp from grouping with others in the other day.

Be polite, my friend. Don't be rude to your helper. Ask to see if any high-lvler have time, then ask to see if they wanna help you or not, and don't force them.

Oh BTW, the one who helped me is a Japanese. I had a hard time communicate with her using English but eventually worked out the problems, hehe.
Seblina quest easier? bah!
# Jan 08 2004 at 1:57 AM Rating: Decent
If you are from Windurst, most likely you will be spending levels 12-18 in Bubu. In the course of lvling you will aquire the Dhamel Saliva and the Rarib tail, they are not very uncommon drops. The only problem according to most ppl is the Bloody Cape, so they choose the other sub job quest, but in my experiance this is very easy to get. Not because there's any chance in hell of a lvl 12-18 group accually killing the Bogey's, but because theres many friendly high-lvl ppl in the area ^^ In the last 2 days my group has recieved 5 Bloody Cloaks from ppl offering them to anyone in need. And that's jsut the groups I've been in and the times I've been there... my buddy had the same experiance. So really all the items are easy to get and the location is just around the corner from where you'll be lvling at when you reach lvl 18.

If you are from Windurst I highly reccomend this quest.

- good Luck all

Edit: F'n horrible grammer lol

mmm what do you mean offering the cape? the item is untradable.. do you party up with them and cast lots as soon as they kill it or something?

They see item drop, give a shout to people. They let the guys in group, then that guy lots and everybody passes. Items stay in the pool for a few minutes at least, enough time to cross entire zone to get it.

I ended up getting the saliva while group raising outside of Mhaura.

For the bloody robe I got very lucky. I went to Bubu Penns with my seek party flag on. Took five minutes before a party asked me to join. They were raising outside of Mharua. I'm not sure how, but they had made a deal with a lvl 30 Mnk / 15 Thf Mithra that for some gil she would kill Bogies for us. While she was preparing, the five of us killed mobs outside of Mhaura. Once she was there, she kicked Bogy #!%$. The whm and I ran behind her curing until we were out of MP. We got four robes in one night. She also helped the others get the mighty rarab tail and dhalmel saliva. I couldn't thank her enough. It was worth staying up till after midnight (early shift this week) to complete this quest!

Can you have 2 Sub Jobs?

no, just one or the other and you can only have one support job at a time. cool thought though XD.... id have done the quest once for each job hahha

: you've probably accepted the selbina subjob quest, you can only select one and only one, you cant just switch to the other. so think this carefully.

:yes, you can have all 3 items beforehand, you just accept the quest and hand in each item one at a time.

:there is no way you can even hurt a banshee @ tough when at lvl 17. Your best bet is to have a party of 25s, or find a nice high level from 40+ to just slaughter the banshee for you factoring in the number of banshees your high lvl friend might have to kill in order to get bloody robe.

err that would be bogy, not banshee >.< minor point hehe. and yes bogys are murderous... seen a few level 30s drop to them when they fought it unprepared

As a lvl 17 Rdm I was able to defeat 'decent challenge' and 'even match' Mighty Rarabs. Took only two kills to get the tail. Be careful though they will link if you're low on hp or mp. The hardest part was pulling one to safe fighting grounds.

Paired up with a lvl 20 thf to kill bull dhalmels (Sneak Attach kicks BD tail!). Took six kills to get our first saliva. On the tenth kill I died just as the bull dhalmel died (Curing drew too much aggro). Try again as soon as I get stronger armor and juices.

Unless we can find others to group, we'll probably try to kill Bogy's that check tough to myself (maybe to him if we're felling brave w/our two hours). I see no point in attaching IT. We're in this to get the items for the sub job quest not raising for XP.

We decided to do the Mhaura sub job quest because the dunes and mines are completely filled with parties trying to get items. Buburimu Peninsula is nearly devoid of people. Only those running between Tahrongi and Mhaura.
