Summary

You are to bring Panta the popular Wonder Magic Set. Don't say a word to his family, or else.

Walkthrough

Panta-Putta is located at the merchant's house at G-10 in Lower Jeuno. He wants you to bring him the Wonder Magic Set. You can get this by going to Port Jeuno and talking to Karl, a kid who is standing near the stairs down to the chocobo stables.

Karl won't give you the magic set unless you first bring him a white rock; you can find one at the Goldsmith's Guild in Bastok Markets. Bring it back to Karl and he gives you the Wonder Magic Set.

Take the set back to Panta-Putta for your reward and to finish the quest.

The cutscene at the end of this quest is exactly the reason why I should be allowed to randomly stab NPC's at will
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 18 2005 at 2:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok here is the secret for max Jueno Fame. Selbina Quest Byhoada Moss *Spelling* 9K a Stack on Valefor. You get 600 gil per moss so very little loss. I went through about 20 stacks, I am Rank 5 at the time, and have done about 18 quests in Bastok, 5 in Sandy, 1 in Windy. Guess what guess I have hero Status in Jeuno. Hope this helps.

On Ramuh, the White Rock is much cheaper in the Jeuno AH (700) than in the Bastok Goldsmith's Guild (~2600).

You'll know you can do this quest if the kid (Panta-Putta) directly asks you for a "Wonder Magic Set" in fact thats the start of it. The earlier cutscene is just back story or something it doesnt mean you can do the quest yet. I did all four gobbie quests and still my fame wasnt high enough to get htis quest, then my fame bumped up a level and the kid finally gave me the quest. Once you get the quest from the kid thats when Karl will ask for the White Rock, etc..

The Soup Pot is for a quest that I think starts after you get this one done (but for some reason spams you with announcements before you do this one - go figure). And I dont know the details but it involves the Culinary guild in Windy i believe..

I got the same thing. I just worked on my windy fame. Maybe its linked. It was my weakest for fame. But the fame guy in windy still gets me 'mixed up with that other lady'. I shall see when I get back to Jeuno I guess.

***SEMI-SPOILER and a question***

After I finished this quest there was a cut scene where you see Panta Putta send away his babysitter Two. Two is dejected and leaves.

When the cut scene ends I now get a quest from his mom looking for a super cooking pot.

I was wondering if we get to find Two later on cause I think it's sad how he was kicked out of the house like that.

If you're getting a cutscene from the guy who gave you the bst whistle, then you're going in the wrong door. There are two doors for the Merchant's house, one on top of the chocobo stable (well, not right on top, but at a higher lvl than chocobo stable) and one same lvl as chocobo stable. you gotta go to the one on the same lvl as the chocobo stable, the door should be right before you go down the stairs (stairs to the lowest lvl of that part of jeuno). If you never been in this door before, you get a cutscene about a salvaged cardian and a poor family of Tarus. Not sure about the fame needed, but you may have to zone again before you get the quest from the kid. Like most other quests, you should get a menu to choose whether or not you want to help him get his toy. Then the quest goes into your quest log. If you don't have this quest in the log, you can't trade the rock to Karl. You get the Super Soup Pot quest from the mother, I got it after I got the wonder magic set quest. Hope that helps.

"Is Panta-Putta actually located inside the Merchant's House? Any time i try to go inside, I get a cut-scene where NPC previous chocobo owner basically tells me to stick it. Do i need more fame?"

its the merchant house on the 1st lvl....the guy your talking to will activate bst quest later on. the merchant house with panta-putta in it is located between the gob shop and the chocobo stable in lower jeuno.

#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 20 2003 at 12:42 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) your TOTAL quest count has nothing to do with your Fame in any given city, if you did 309458723 quests in bastok, noone from Jeuno OR San'D OR Windhurst will care, to raise your fame in Jeuno, you need to complete Jeuno quests.

Funny how the most arrogant posters often don't really know what they are talking about isn't it?

Actually, Jeuno fame is influenced by your fame in other Cities. There are different theories on how this works. Some people think it is just the sum of the fame in all other cities. Other people think its based on fame earned in Jeuno + fame in your least famous city. We can't be sure.

Personally I think it is the sum of fame in other cities. If it were based on your fame in your least famous city, that would have to include places like Selbina and Norg.. that doesn't really make sense to me.

But anyways, without a modicum of fame before entering Jeuno, you won't even be able to try any Jeuno quests in the first place. The NPC's will not give them to you. (except Choco and subjob quests, but these on their own don't generate enough fame to unlock the other Jeuno quests without help from quests in other cities)

I just gotta say it makes sense that fame in other nations would increase your fame in juenno. In terms of the fantasy world of the game... Because Juenno is a major travel destination full of basically all foreigners. If your famouse in America and a bunch of Americans go down to the Bahamas people in the Bahamas are gonna know about you.

This is a further motion of support for your 'Sum' theory. I have nearly maxed Bastok fame but little to no windurst or San'Doria fame. I have quite a bit of jeuno fame but have only done a few quests there.

It almost seems like there is a fame cap on each city as it affects jeuno... maybe something like total fame in bastok, windy and sandy = 75% total fame in jeuno. Whereas to reach max fame in jeuno, you would have to complete the quests there.

Just my two gil...

Any rebuttals or comments welcome.

I tend to agree with you that fame is based on the sum of all cities.

I've been working on my fame in the cities individually. My fame in San d'Oria is maxed, my fame in Windurst is pretty high, but I have absolutely NO fame in Bastok (not a single quest). Nonetheless, my fame in Jeuno is one level from being maxed.

If it were true that fame was based on the main city with your lowest fame, then I should have next to no fame in Jeuno, yet mine is almost maxed.

this is a further vote in favor. i have also read that some people believe it to be the average of the three cities, which seems a lot more likely... otherwise simpy maxing any one city's fame would also max your jeuno fame. (anyone want to buy a few hundred batwings?)

i just got to jeuno. i am (or was till earlier today) only level 19. having done lots of sando quests, a few windu quests, and barely any bastok quests.. i was quite surprised to find that i have already earned moderate jeuno fame.
(i was equally surprised that i actually found the fame guy without looking.. they seem to be usually hidden away in some remote corner)

Hmm

I went in the merchant house & after the cut scene the kid was there & talked about the pot, and he must get it b4 someone else does. Then I talked to Karl & he said every kid loves a wonder magic set more than anything, and that was the end of that. Went back to the kid in merchant house & still nothing. I prolly just need more fame.

Im guessing its city specific fame... i have 80+ quests done total, mostly in san doria and bastok. I have 10 quests complete in Jeuno and still can't get this.... i don't understand this fame system!! so many quests i can't get that i KNOW i have more fame than others that can get it...

Karl talks about the Wonder Magic Set and all, but trading him a white rock does nothing. Not to mention neither Panta-Putta nor Karl mention anything about needing a white rock. I think this quest is wrong and I wasted my money on a white rock.

I'm lvl 20thf/8war, not counting repeats i've done 40 quests in Windurst, 16 in Bastok, and 3 in Mhaura, and 1 in Jueno (chocobo). I've repeated some of these and have quests like the "Give a moogle a break" quest actvated, but not finished for lack of gil.

Anyway I can not get ANY quests to activate in Jueno. This one, all that happens is a cut scene of a Cardian coming in and being sent out to get groceries, then I talk to all the people in the room. The mom says somethign about a Super Soup Bowl (which I know is in windurst) but the quest won't activate to let me actually DO this. The kid says "how will I ever beat them" again and again. and the dad mumbles somethign about the cardian being great.

I also can't get the gobbie bag quests to activate, or anything else for that matter.

I guess i'm just going to head to SanDoria now and do some quest there, maybe I need at least 1 done in each city?

You are missing "Fame" points. Fame can only be built up by doing lesser quests and fame is specific for each city. So for Jeuno fame, you need to complete more Jeuno quests.

Maybe, maybe not.

To put it bluntly, early on, there are NO Jeuno quests that can be completed except the Chocobo quest. So you can't build up fame in Jeuno early on. Some of them require a certain number of quests in your home city to be completed, but I've done that and still don't have access to any quests in Jeuno. There are level requirements on some quests in Jeuno, and its possible that this quest has one as well.

Update...

I've completed over 50 quests total in other cities, and a number of Jeuno quests are now available. I haven't checked whether or not THIS quest is available or not, but I suspect it is.
