Norg Fame
# Mar 02 2006 at 12:59 AM Rating: Decent
Rice Balls is a completly inaccurate way to go about seeing you norg fame, i was told rice balls = 153 is max norg fame but when i went to norg and my rice balls were = 153 i had no norg fame, i did the Yagudo neclaces/Zinc or quests to get my rice balls down to 153. Luckily once you start questing Ninja scrolls in norg..i did tonko, then i did hojo and another kauramy both Ichi i got to about lvl 5 fame which opend up Utsutsemi, you need atleast lvl 5 fame for this quest. I dont believe in the rice ball theory, its doesnt work.
Easy Way
# Jan 31 2006 at 12:46 PM Rating: Default
What an easy way to fame up. Basically, doing this quest with 1 stack each of corn and moss will net you enough fame to quest warp, drain, and any other thing you would need in levels 1-20.
RE: Easy Way
# Feb 19 2006 at 10:26 AM Rating: Decent
I can confirm that 1 stack of corn & 1 stack of moss did not raise my fame beyond the 1st level. This is with a brand new character with no quests or anything done.

I would like to comment that when sandy was in control of the region that Valkrum was in i was able to buy 50 stacks of cabbage and only lose 500 gil after trades. Also 50 stacks capped my Jeuno which was at lvl 6 prior, and bnoosted Bastok and Sandy from lvl 5 to lvl 8.

Millioncorn Results

Aragenou regional vender in Sandy is Antonian @ (J-8).
Fame guy in Sandy is Namonutice in South Sandy inside 'Lion's Spring' @(K-6).

Did this today. Traded 29 stacks of Millioncorn. 1 Millioncorn was 50gil, so 29 stacks was 17,400 gil. Got 120gil for every 3 corn traded. So you get 13,920 gil back, so your only spending 3,480gil.

Results: Had 0 fame in Sandy ("No, never head of that name"). After trading 29 stacks of corn I had level 4-5 fame ("I hear your name often, People speak well of you!"). I had enough to do Drain. My fiance also did this, but w/ 21 stacks of corn and was ~lv4 fame in Jeuno, enough to start gobbie bags.
Pretty funny

I wanted to do the NPC quest so I started doing missions in bastok and spent two days trying but wound up with Bastok 1 fame.

Someone told me about this and now I can do any quest in Jeuno! Quite handy.

Alternative if Bastok not in 1st or 2d: craft the coronettes yourself. Quite low (14 bone, 14 gold, craft at level 9 or 10 in both; uses 1 bone chip, 1 brass ingot; you can get both crafts to that level while making profit if you know what you are doing). If you don't have these crafts, maybe it's time to get them, since at least a low GS is important in most crafts. As I recall, I traded about 50 coronettes to the guy in Windy (think his name is Oran-Yoran?); remember his house is way north on one of the Windy town maps; coronette is one of three items he takes for his experiments, gives ?200 gil back per coronette). As to getting from mandies, was helping a friend with Windy fame quest after I had TH2, and drops were still infrequent.

I know how you feel. Windy is pretty obnoxious. It's best if you have a mule or a friend on standby in Bastok while lvling your Windy fame. This is, of course, if Bastok is in first. Trade Cornettes to Yoran-Oran which you can either buy from the music shop, or farm from mandragoras. This takes A LOT of cornettes, though. The only other repeatable ones are pretty expensive, as 3x beehive chips gets pricey fast, and same with 3x silk thread. Patience is key. You'll get there!

I believe Bastok still sells the coronettes when they are 2nd placed. Also a friend told me with TH you could get coronette drops about 1/4 -1/5 from mandies near starfall hillock.
Huge Fame from Moss
# Nov 08 2005 at 5:00 AM Rating: Decent
On Quetz, I paid 7k per stack of 12 moss.
Ran to Selbina, macro'd (THANK YOU Crakens for the macro!) about 7 stacks..
Start: Windy Fame 3
Bastok Fame: 1
Sandy Fame: 1
Jeuno Fame: 1

End:
Windy Fame: 3 (not affected)
I have yet to run to bastok/sandy because I dislike them.. but when I went to Jeuno, I was told "Literally everyone in Jeuno knows your name!" and I got Gobbie bags.. .. a lot of them.. >.< I wish I had known that the Brady guide *GOD I hate you) only listed the first few.. now I have 60 items on me XD so I <3 this quest.
One run was enough for me
# Sep 23 2005 at 2:05 PM Rating: Decent
I didnt have nearly any fame anywhere (maybe level 2 in sandy) before I began. I needed enough fame to get the Delkfutt's tower map. I stripped down to my skivvies (I had sword, shield and LS) and filled up with as many of the items as I could get (aka 27 stacks) - but only one stack of millicorn. Regardless, made the one run out there - tradded eveyrthing in (which took about an hour and a half or so because I had about 10 stacks of moss - 120 trades). Sandy my fame was level 7 and Jueno was level 6. More than enough for my quest plus at least two levels of gobbie bag.

And here's a good fame guide I found:

Different items
# Sep 08 2005 at 3:28 AM Rating: Decent
i have come to believe that certain items will raise certain areas fame more so then others.. my bastok fame was 4. sandy 5.and im not sure what jeuno was.
After trading 90stacks of la theine cabbage to the NPC. I was a hero in sandy/jeuno, but bastok fame was only 5. Now by reading other peoples posts about this quest. it just didnt seem right.
So its unknown to me what else would raise bastok more then sandy but i know the cabbage will focus more towards sandy.
BTW you can buy La Theine Cabbage for 21gil from a NPC in south sandy.. leaving you with a 12gil loss per stack (not bad if i say so myself) but i think the NPC will only sell them if sandy has zulkeim control(not sure tho).
hope some of this helps >.<

sadly this quest LOWERS norg fame, before i started this quest i had the riceballs costing 160gil each and i couldnt do any gobbiebag quests.

i handed in 122 boyahda moss and i had enough fame for 3+ gobbieabags but the price of riceballs went up to 166gil again.

dont do this quest if you are trying to quest utsusemi ichi, i wasted hours getting norg fame up and now i have to start again, oh well

Riceball Price is Lowered with norg fame and Raised with Jeuno Fame.
3+ Gobbie quests and a 6 gil increase in riceballs.

As already stated, the only way to check norgfame is to check it in norg. Riceballs aren't acurate at all.
My riceballs price was 166 when i flagged Utusemi ^^
RE: norg fame down
# Oct 14 2005 at 12:34 PM Rating: Decent
Sadly.... your wrong. It Does Not lower fame, riceballs are not an exact way to check your norg fame the only way to be exact is by talking to the guy in norg that tells you your fame lvl. When people buy riceballs and a day changes the price goes up, if no one buys and a whole day passes it goes back down. I promise you, It's true.

Listen to this person. They are correct. Rice balls don't indicate Norg fame accurately. I did the utsusemi quest when they were at 166gil a piece. And I did enough zinc ore quests to put myself up to lvl 5+ fame straight away. The rice balls when checked before I set out for Norg to do the quest were at 160, clearly too high for the quest (according to the 153 method of checking) despite the fact I had 220 or so pieces of zinc ore traded and at least another 30 necklaces. Over the course of my questing to increase fame, rice balls actually went up from 154 to 166 despite the fact I did no other quests at the time. So don't listen to those people claiming the Selbina quest lowers Norg fame. They just don't know how to properly check Norg fame. Might even be people wanting to sell large ammounts of zinc ore and yagudo necklaces and wanting to trick people into buying more than necessary.

If i have very little fame in Norg, if i do this quest ill loose it right? But what happens when my fame in Norg drops to zero, can it go below?? like if riceballs for me cost the basic price, if i do this quest will thy cost more than before??

Cabbage Runs
# Jul 24 2005 at 12:05 AM Rating: Decent
According to what's previously stated, you'd need only about 90 stacks of cabbage to max Bastok/San d'Oria fame. With out any gobbiebags done, it took me 3 runs, 2 with 29 and 1 with 2 (Gotta have me LS equipped.)

EDIT: The 3 run thing, I meant to say I already had 3 fame in San d'Oria/Bastok.

however if u want to try maybe u could try this

/targetnpc
/item "item" <t>
/item "item" <t>
/item "item" <t>
ect...

this may allow u to do it although im not sure.

I've tried to come up with a macro for corn, since economically it's better than moss, but with no luck :/

I can confirm that this does not work:
/targetnpc
/item "item" <t>
/item "item" <t>
/item "item" <t>

I also tried /item 3 "Millioncorn" <t> and /item "Millioncorn" 3 <t> and they don't work either. (but then again there is no reason that they should lol)

I'm about to go back on and do another run, if I find a corn/cabbage macro I'll post it here.

Btw: After 12 stacks of corn and 38 total moss I've gone from fame level 0 to 3 in bastok. (haven't checked other cities)

Here is the dilly. I started off with absoultely no quest done in sandy or bastok. Only advantage I had maybe was having rank5.

83 stacks of cabbage, 13 stacks of millioncorn and 6 stacks of moss gave me sufficent fame for the Titan and shiva fork quest. I'm assuming gurada too but I havent gotten to Rabao yet.

Hope it helps somone. Peace

I've done about 12 stacks of moss so far to reach lvl 6 fame in Sandy and Bastok. Jeuno fame was sufficient enough for gobbie bags and RSE quests. Seeing as moss sells for 10k on Diabolos right now (net loss of 2.8k/stack) I recommend either farming it, or buying singles over time at 500-600 to make money or break even.

I waned to know about how many stacks of the Boyahda moss do you need to max out your fame in Sandy and Bastok. I have about level 2 fame in each of these cities, and the Moss costs about 10k a stack on my server, so I don't want to go over the limit if i dont have to. Thank You

# Nov 16 2004 at 9:15 AM Rating: Decent
the fact of the matter is that this does work but... only nominal fame is given for the cheaper items like the millicorn and cabbage. YOU GET TONS OF FAME for the Boyahda Moss. had 0 fame in san' deoria and was doing the trial size summoner quests so i did bout 10 stacks of corn got 2 levels of fame then 10 stacks of cabbage got 1 more level. THEN 15 stacks of moss and bam 4 levels, so i then did 15 more stacks and maxed fame out ( i know i only needed level 3 fame but i was already there ^^)

let's re-word this to make it more...logical...and correct....

you did the quest through corn about 40 times ([12 times 10] divided by 3) and got 2 fame levels.

you did the quest through cabbage 24 times ([12 times 10] divided by 5) and got 1 fame level.

you did the quest through moss 180 times ([12 * 15] divided by 1) and got 4 fame levels...

So..for million corn, it takes about 20 questings for a level. For cabbage , it takes about 20 questings per level. For moss, it takes about 45 questing per level....

You would in theory Get tons of Fame from trading the Moss, For each stack of Moss is equivalent to trading 3 stacks of millicorn or 6 stacks of Cabbage.
