Summary

Help the poor love-struck youth by going to the Rhinostery and buying him the perfect flower he needs to win over his sweetheart.

Walkthrough

If you talk to Moari-Kaaori who sits in one of the houses in the Western area of lower Windurst Waters (C-10), you will find he is lovesick and wants to give his girlfriend the rarest flower you can find and describes it to you with three adjectives.

He tells you the people at the Rhinostery (J-9) will have one for him. Speak to Ohbiru-Dohbiru in the Southern half of the Rhinostery, and he will ask you about the flower. Answer his three questions using the same order of Moari-Kaaori's description. If you answer correctly, Ohbiru-Dohbiru will tell you the flower you seek is the Tahrongi Cactus but that they've already used their last one. If you make a mistake, he will tell sell you a lesser flower to give to Moari-Kaaori, which will work, but net you a smaller reward.

Go to the Tahrongi Canyon and in the mountains along the Northwestern side (F-6), there will be the Tahrongi Cacti. Examine the spot to harvest it. Take the flower back to Moari-Kaaori and he will give you an Iron Sword.

Repeating this quest gets you 400 gil.

Fame Requirement
# Nov 11 2008 at 4:59 AM Rating: Decent
The Fame requirement is 2, so yes, you will need a few quests under your belt before you are able to flag this quest. You cannot get this quest with Food For Thought /active/. It will be available once you have completed Food For Thought.
Got quest?
# Aug 28 2006 at 1:43 PM Rating: Decent
I have not gotten or completed Food for Thought, and the fellow that rates your fame in the tavern doesn't know me, but I received this quest as a Level 12 Windurstian warrior. I'm going to complete it tonight.

The taru is in (J-9) not (H-12) as the description says. It's just across from where the quest starter is, in the south part of windy waters.

Moari-Kaaori asked me for the rarest, mysticalest, elegantest flower there is,

Talked to Ohbiru-Dohbiru first and answered his questions in this order, then he told me to talk to Kenapa-Keppa to know where I can find a Tahrongi Cactus.

Hope this helps.

The Tahrongi Cactus is located at F6 in Tahrongi Canyon.

If you low lvl or 11 ish if you have help geeting to bastok or about for the 2-3 mission you can join the alchemy guild
if you have a lower job you can xp up for the subjob (lvl 19 but if you get main job 20 other job parked at 10 will be waiting to equip) and if you hunt goblin fishers in East Serubat. or East Ronferu. for lightning crystal they dont drop much can buy em too.

This Makes the Distilled water. granted it's ezier. to buy em but this is an ez. way to skill alechemy starting off.

Also Thiers Rarely Cacti on Auction House Thus.
You can Make A good bit by farming em out. if at all posible.

#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 01 2005 at 1:50 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I went through all the rigamarole, got the description right, got directions to Tahrongi Canyon, got cactus and the dumb Taru won't give me my Iron Sword. Honetsly I don't care about the sword but I do want to move on to the Overnight Delivery quest, but Kenpapa keeps telling me where to find the cactus. I HAVE IT! Anyone else have this problem and if so were you able to resolve it?

Well I also had the request for rarest, mysticalest, and elegantest flower. But I forgot to write this down. At the rhinostery, I answered anything, got the amaryllis for 200g. Walked back to the taru to see the real description.

He questioned if the amaryllis was such a described flower, but gave me back 100g and allowed me to finish the quest, along with the chime that plays when you get 'increase in fame'.

Well that works for me! Don't know if the fame increase is the same but I'll be doing tons more repeatable quests anyway to get max fame so tp be able to complete this one in the same zone in a few mins is good enough for me

Say It With Flowers

I was able to get this quest and the following was true for me:
The fame-meter woman told me: "Oh, you're the <name> that people are starting to talk about. I've heard pretty good things about you."

I had the "Food For Thought" quest listed under "current," in other words I had received it but had not completed it. I was still able to talk to Ohbiru-Dohbiru about the flowers.

Moari-Kaaori told me, when giving me the quest, to get "The rarest, mysticalest, elegantest flower there is!"

Ohbiru-Dohbiru asked me to describe the flower via three questions. Each question had three answers, and one of the answers was one of the words Moari-Kaaori used to describe the flower. I chose the answers Moari-Kaaori gave me and Ohbiru-Dohbiru did not give me a flower, instead she told me about the Tahrongi cactus. She did not know where to get one though, so she told me to ask Kenapa-Keppa, but he only told me, again, that he wanted a hard-boiled egg (for "Food For Thought"). I gave him a hard-boiled egg, talked to again, but he only grinned. I'm guessing it's not that important he tell you if you can find out where it is on this website.

You need to talk to Moari-Kaaori before you can repeat this quest.

You can't get the Tahongi Cactus until you've talked to him first.
ugh

well guess I should have read this first I answered the questions wrong and gave him an amarylis or something and says the quest is unfinished but he wont give me the second part of the quest. Can i fix it?

If Moari-Kaaori just cries and doesn't talk about the flower, you have to do more quests in order to raise your fame. Also, I forgot how he described the flower so the Rhinostery gave me an Amerylis (sp?). you pay 200 gil for the flower and then when you give it to Moari-Kaaori, he gives you 100 gil if it is not the one he wants.

So it is important to remember exactly how he describes the flower.
also can't start

yes.. I also can't start the quest... I talk to Moari-Kaaori and he cries... I've tried three different times... I'm lvl 7, have already completed the food for thought quest (they don't mention this one at all) and am a citizen of windhurst... could it be fame or rank related?
Fame!

Most (not all) quests are fame related. I have heard that your fame is higher if you are a citizen of Windurst (or whatever place you are trying to gain fame in).

I suggest you do a few more quests to increase you fame before trying to activate this one. ^^

i think it wont let you start this quest if you have food for thought started or vice-versa. im from windurst and have 14-16quests (rank2.99999 if that matters) done when i recieved this one.
also i cannot start food for thought, it deals with the same people in rhinostery so i think thats the problem. im off to find a cacti

Moari-Kaaori's actual position is C-9, in the 2nd from the very bottom house, on the west (left) side on your map.

I've completed about 13 missions at Windurst and I thought maybe this quest would open up but it still hasn't. I'm wondering if this quest is only available for Windurstians only (cuz my character is from Bastok)

This also appears to be tied to the "Food for Thought" quest. I got it immediately after finishing that one - which make sense, since Ohbiru-Dohbiru won't talk about it until you feed him.... <grin>

You probably need to get more fame in Windurst. You get more fame by doing quests in the cities. The more quests you do, the more fame you get.
Lilac
# Nov 30 2003 at 6:42 AM Rating: Default
do you have to say a specific description to get the lilac? Because the lilac can be used for the "Flower Child" quest...
hmm

I gave em a lilac also and didn't get the CUpid title.. instead it showed i completed the mission and got crawler culler as my title.. a quest i done like 20 quests ago... my last quest was from the making amends task.. glue fixer or something like that.. so how did i fall back or does the names not even matter? it shows thsi quest as completed now btw.

I talked to him with only rank 1 and about 8 quest and he gave me the quest he first time.

First time I swear i did it right, and the Rhin gave me a liliac, cost 150 gil.

Gave it to the boy he seemed depressed that it was the best flower. Gave me 100 gil to reiburst.

Talk to him again later he gets all fired up about the flower again, starts writting a letter and ask you to go again. This time they told me about the cactus.

I think if your lacking in lvl or in fame they just give you the liliac, but it still says quest completed.

RE: cacti
# Jan 03 2004 at 11:05 PM Rating: Default
Had one on me just in case, but I don't think you actually need a sickle since it didn't seem to involve the sickle to be used like with harvesting. Perhaps someone else can confirm.
