Summary

Norejaie wants you to exterminate an ecological threat and bring her evidence of the feat.

Walkthrough

Norejaie is located in the Lion Springs Tavern at (K-6)

Also potentially referred to in game as the V.E.R.M.I.N. quest. It involves traveling to La Theine Plateau and heading into Ordelle's Caves. There Rojaireaut will "smear a scent on you" (cast a Level Down effect on you) to "draw the beast out" and then you're off to explore the caves and hope whatever jumps out at you.

You have to go to the bottom of Ordelle's Caves to find a stalactite with a ??? tag. When you click on it Necroplasm spawns. Due to the level cap it took two full parties to take down Necroplasm. He hit for around 100 on level 20 warriors. After beating Necroplasm, re-examine the ??? and receive a key item. Go back to the inn in Southern San d'Oria and you get 5,000 gil and a page of the Dragon Chronicles.

I did it today with a three party alliance... Had two whms, a blm, rest were warriors, and I was the pally... It was only hitting me for around 50 damage, and we took it out without anyone going red. The biggest prob we had was with the gobs on the way down... Heh, 18 people, one leecher bomb = 18 red... Ouchie... Of course, we got massacred on the way back, so if your doing this for the first time, get a warp scroll or just die. The xp you get from the scroll will counter what you use, if your just doing it for the gil. Yea, it does work on other jobs. I used it on my dark, instand 968 xp. Pretty good stuff, did it on a saturday too... If any of you are on Cait Sith, give Rubricant a tell tonight after the tally, and Ill go with you.

Just tried doing that quest, some idiot clicked the ??? when the leaders said not to. Then the smart guy started running around with it on him like he's going to zone (our plan was t kill the gobs before selecting the boss, was a good plan).... so I finally target the thing off him, we all start fighting it (we had a 3 party allig... many war's) but not one of the warriors provoked it off me. So i'm the only one who died in battle.

Thanks to that special someone I saved.

Moving on. After defeating the beast, all the party leasders just disbanded and made a run for the zone. leaving the party members, including myself who was still dead confused.

Save for only two members, no one came to my aid. Thanks you Qwa ans Sprightly.

Moral of this rant, make sure party leaders are IN CONTROL and have a clue how to run a group party. And make sure warriors, or those subed with warrior know how to use provoke.

this quest can only be done once a week, RT.....if u do it on sunday, 6/6/2004, u have to wait until sunday, 6/13/2004. just thought all the noob's might want to know, cus occasionally u get a noob alliance leader that did the quest yesterday, gets a full alliance together, THEN tries to get the quest, can't, and disbands the alliance

stupid noob's u have a computer, do some research on the internet before doing a LARGE/LONG quest like eco-warrior

i've done this quest quite a few times, and each time i've noticed that there is always someone that clicks the ???. you tell them not to do it 100 times- everyone acknowledges, but don't be fooled, someone always clicks the ???.

i did this quest 3 days ago for about the tenth time. i stopped everyone at the tavern, told them. i stopped everyone when we applied the lotion, told them. i stopped everyone when we got to the room, guess what i did.. everyone said understood with the auto translate, or in one way or another responded. as we're clearing the gobs and hognosed bats away. i notice someone far behind and losing 80 hp every few seconds, so i turn around to see someone at the ??? with the necroplasm kicking his ***. my whm turns around and cure II's him and my whm drops in 1 hit. after it took out my whm i thought to myself: tell everyone to get on it or let it kill the ??? clicker. so i disband the ******, he dies in 5 seconds and when we're done with the gobs we jump on it. if youre a party leader and you see that someone clicked the ???, and no one owns up to it, just scroll up and see who it hit first and disband them, it'll work everytime.

You don't need a full alliance if you have a couple of WHM's and a couple of high level people to clear the path. The NM itself is simple.

Did this quest yesterday with just 10 people, and I think there were only 3 damage dealers(me and two monks) and two healers. Fairly simple. But a couple of people did die.
Just needs to be organized

If you fortunate enough to have some high lvl help clearing a path, a full alliance isn't needed for the actual killing of the beast spawned from the ???

The LS that I belong to on Siren successfully killed the undead slime with only 9 people having a lvl 30 sam clear a path for us. The alliances backbone was comprised of 3 WHM, 2 BLM, 1 PAL. We let the pally spam a few cures to gain aggro and the the mages went to town with divine/elemental seals.

But don't expect to have the same results unless the alliance is organized and raid-orientated.

My LS does this quest constantly. its a good way to get an easy 5k gil and up to 1k exp is nothign to snear at. if you've got a large enough LS you shoudl try making it a repeatable event for the LS

Did this quest last night. Had 3 party alliance with one party at only 4 members. Had a great leader in one party who kept it organized and that helps a ton on this mission as you will get aggro'd by all single bats and lots of assorted gobs.
You only get a Vanadiel day, 1 hr to complete the quest once you get the oil smeared on you to level you down. I bought some level 17 armor at the AH before leaving so I would have some protection after losing my higher level armor. I also bought some mithkabobs for extra strength.
We didn't have alot of healing power in our group but thanks to not wasting much time getting to the ?? spot we only lost one low level member who even with getting one raise couldn't take the heat.
I saved my 2hr ability for the big battle as did some others and we took it down without losing anyone else. Don't forget to inspect the ?? again after defeating the Necroplasm or you won't get the key item you'll need when you get back to town to complete the quest.
Hardest part was getting the group to stay together afterwards till we got out of the caves. I ended up with a small group that helped each other till we got out. The main leader was Dominic and he did a great job of getting us there and keeping the majority alive.
Great Fun!

I walked in Sandoria with my lvl 8 DRG and a guy asked me for the Eco warrior quest.
1H to get the 3 alliances (18 ppl) lot of newbies there with some without chocobos) so have to walk to get to the caves ... wow long line :).

When it was time to get oil 2 stupid noobs see that they dont own the quest, so 10 minutes wait again.

Once they were back we begin to go to the place with a 32WHM to raise if necessary, but in fact we helped him a lot to kill some mobs.
Our great leader was explaining what to do not to be killed and a guy clicked on the ??? so we all start to battle but in fact only 8-10 ppl were really fighting.
Less than 1 minute to kill it and no death i was RDM capped to 20 with max Sword skill (of course), i've used cure2 all time on guys with less HP and no problem with that.
I guess we really can do it with less ppl if they r not too stupid and know what to do. I probably do it again with my LS with around 10 or more ppl.

Not a really nice reward but funny to do it anyway.

Prepare for absolute anarchy. 18 people, all who THINK they know what they are doing, trying to guide the other 17? MADNESS. Make sure you do this with people you either A) like and respect, or B) you don't know and don't care about, because after this quest, you'll either bond with your alliance or put them all on your blist.

My LS did this last night... the whole thing was total chaos. We ran around going the WRONG way for most of it... honestly, when someone says "Hey we're doing ecowarrior come to La Theine," one might assume they know what they're doing, right? Well, this wasn't the case.

Luckily, our escort was a 55 SAM with infinite patience. Once, in the wrong room (probably the one for the pali quest?), a jelly aoe'd our party TWICE and killed everybody but a BLM and a couple of warriors... somehow, all of us but one stayed and got raises by some higher level guys, got the stink stuff on us again, went the wrong way again! FINALLY somebody has enough, uses a roommates computer to look it up on this site, and we go the right way... MUCH easier that way, holy cow.

We finally get to the right room, the 55 SAM clears the area for us (but not without some moments of tension when some dumb tank says "Let's kill ajsdlfk;jasdfja;" and we're like "No you moron, it took us this long, WAIT a few minutes more until it's safe." Area clears, we rest, and kill it quite easily with a full alliance. The worse part of all of this is one guy got disconnected five minutes before the big fight, and we had wasted so much time getting down there we didn't want the goo to wear off, so he got totally screwed. I felt really bad for him, but at the same time I had my own issues (wasn't supposed to be playing in the first place, esp. for that long!), so I couldn't do anything.

ANYWAY, if I can suggest anything, it's go with someone whose done it before, and make sure they're leading with authority. Otherwise, don't do it. The reward is nice, but in the 3 hours it took, I could have got so much more in terms of exp and gil.

Gather around everyone, story time.
I planned on doing this quest with my LS for a week now, and we got our alliance togeter and headed to Ordelle. We all slap on the lube and head down without an escort (i told my friend to find one but he said we dont need). anyways we kill everything that aggro and get to the ???. A willo the wisp spawn and explodes killed 1/2 of us instantly leaving the rest HP in the 1s and 10s. my friend gets 3 escorts and we are all raised. we head down get lubed again and come back, heal, and i examine the ??? to spawn the monster. To my luck, as all the warrior use their 2 hour abilty, my game closes. I immediatly get back on to see the dead corpse. 1/2 the LS stayed to help me kill it again tho =/

Ok - so the scent the Elvaan smears on you delevels you to 20?

And if so, does that mean all your equipment can not be greater than lvl 20? Because, If I am level 30, have lvl 30 equipment, get scented and delevel to 20, I would become naked and defenseless.

Could someone clear this up for me and please, oh please, use complete sentences. "quest capped 20, you level down effect you." is not a complete sentence.

It will delevel you to 20. Any gear you have on that is above level 20 will be removed and unwearable for the duration of the level-down effect.

Well i did this quest with an 18 person PT....everything went well til we get to where NM spawns...while were clearing out the Gobs and stuff one idiot decides to trigger it and all hell broke loose. We ended up killing it but with only 5 people left from the PT including me, gobs and willow-wisp things took out the other 4 members as they ran for their lives...and i went to the stalagmite and got the item....and then promptly died :)

yes this quest will capped @ lv.20. example: lv.30, got the scent on you and it will Level Down effect to lv.20

if u lv. 20 and got the scent on you. you would still be lv.20 because the level down affect is capped @ lv.20!!

good luck

Just took him out with a LS PARTY (read 6 people). PLD, DRK, RNG, BRD, BLM, WHM. It was our 2nd time going on this quest, first was last week with an 8 player win.

The toughest part was getting there, we tried a couple different strats to get there quicker and it didn't work so we decided to grin and bear it and kill all agro mobs in our way.

Got to the ???, TP/MP call, ate food (boiled crab for PLD, Mithkabobs for DRK/RNG, pies + juices for mages), activated Soul Voice+Evasion/Defense up, and PLD selected the ???. Pulled the mob over to us and turned on invincibility. Bard did fire threnody to lower his resistance.
SC call (300% TP) Hard Slash(DRK) > Flaming Arrow(RNG) > Seraph Strike(PLD). Hard Slash did 20, Flaming did 60 w/ 30 pt liquification, Seraph Strike did 112 w/ 84 point fusion. Unfortunately, mages didn't hit MBs but wasn't needed. BRD let loose with a 75 pt Burning Blade while the BLM alternated Fire + Blizzard (w/ 2hr up). Blizzard wasn't the best of dmg, only doing 37 per hit w/ a crit or something for 75 at the end. Fire did 62 all 6 times it hit. RNG let lose with eagle eye for 143 sometime in there, while DRK plowed away w/ 15-20 pt attacks + aeros.

Parsed the dmg and he has b/w 1536-1598 (I'm guessing 1550). Probably took about 1 minute to kill him, no deaths. Clean & Easy kill.

Lessons learned:
1) Necroplasm is undead so:
a) don't bother draining
b) use holy circle w/ PLD
c) if you have extra divine caster, MB your
fusion with a cure2
2) Necroplasm's Area Effect attacks seems to be directional so if you have your tank on one side and everyone else on the other only he should get hit by it. (going to find out if Bastok's jellys attacks are the same way next week)

Look out next week for the journey of Bastok's Eco-War.

if you die doing this quest, just get raised, reapply the scent/oil & go back to the ??? to get the item.

I believe there is a litmited time you have to do this, but we waited nearly 15 minutes after death before going back.

We had a mix of people. 18 people alliance. We did a human train on everything that aggroed on us on the way to the NM. We were very organized, only the leaders talked. Took us 35 seconds to kill the NM. I only had a gsword cuz my beetle armor was lv21. :P Oh yeah, we did it in ordelle cave. Good luck to everyone that attempts to do this quest. The hard part was getting the people together, only noobs will get you killed in this quest. I got 924 exp from scroll :D

Anyways in my group (we had a 3 group alliance mainly from my LS) i didn't even have to throw a cure to anyone and it went donw in a couple minutes. I was like...wow...that was easy for 5k gil and the 700 exp i got. The hardest part was getting down because of all hte aggros, not that they hurt or anything, just annoynig.

We all got masacred before even reaching the mob area. I think I can safely say we had no organization whatso whomever. ><

What sucks the most is that I already did this quest 26 levels ago with a group of 7 Japanese. It went very smooth and noone died. Stupid me I didn't know I had to take evidence and no one spoke my language. >>

We also had trouble in getting there, we had a totlal of 4 people die on the way, they went back to hp, and came back rather quickly, a couple notes to prevent deaths on the trip in is to have a lvl 30+ clear the way for your group, taking out any goblins in your path, Tip him 1-4 for his time and efforts, what tip him 4 you crazy,, no whats 5k amoung a group of 16 people, 250 gill each. Trust me its worth not agrooing every gob in the way.
Next after you kill the mob and get the stagmite from touching the ??? you can log out and and back in again and the lvl cap will be removed so you can get back much easier.

The name of it is Necroplasm for the one in the ordel caves. It wasn't that hard actually but we had a full alliance and people clearing our way. we all used 2hr as soon as battle started. I hit it for 0-10 damage each swing and i came in as a 20MNK/10RDM. It hit me once for 32 pts of damage.
It cast something called !!! i think that made it impossible to heal and regen any MP or HP. Also i noticed a few people were paralyzed when i went back and checked the text box after battle.

My advice to anyone attempting this is to make sure you have a full 3 parties going into this as well as 2-3 higher level players (lv35+) helping to clear the way. Make sure you clear the area of any gobs or anythign that will aggro because if they get close they will attack durring the big battle. I suggest that you keep those high levels around to clear while you're in battle. going back is also kind of difficult. One guy took off running and made the biggest chain of gobs and bats i've ever seen. There were 35+ monsters after him. After you kill the Necroplasm, make sure that you resist running out and take your time just as you did comming in. use your high levels to clear the way back so you all live.

You don't get any conquest points for this guy though :(
