New Updated Quest Name
# Dec 14 2005 at 2:29 AM Rating: Default
This quest's name apparently has been changed to:

The Elvaan Goldsmith

Exactly same quest and result of quest

I just got it done!

as noted by others, you got it because of your fame. Apparantly this is fame based.

I have done almost every available quest in all cities to date
I've gone back and talked to almost every npc person in bastok
I am unable to flag this quest >< I don't understand it should be a no brainer

I give up!

Clarify
# Sep 30 2004 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
THIS quest (Father Figure) Where she asks for a SILVER INGOT and gives 2200 gil, is NOT repeatable. It requires at least lvl 1 fame and completion of "The Elvaan Goldsmith".

The other quest from the same NPC "The Elvaan Goldsmith" IS repeatable. It requires no previous fame.

If you have never done either quest, you will get "The Elvaan Goldsmith". You may repeat that until you reach fame lvl 1. THEN you can speak to her for "Father Figure" ONCE. Trade silver ingot, get 2200....

After that quest is completed, you can only go back to doing the first, repeatable quest, "The Elvaan Goldsmith". In all cases, you must zone before/inbetween repeating the quests.

Hope that helps clarify. It's good to compare notes on quests on different forums/websites so you can get all the info.

Level 7 Bastok fame and done elvaan goldsmith too many times to count. He/She never asks for a silver ingot. Maybe a defect in the game?
fame level

my fame is level 1 in bastok and I got both quests in a row just by talking to her after giving her the copper ingot the first time.

Fame level clearup
# Apr 30 2004 at 1:06 AM Rating: Excellent
Clearification on fame requirements

Starting at Fame lvl 1 you can get the quest "The Elvaan Goldsmith"... this quest is repeatable, you just have to zone between repeats. She will continue to ask for copper ingots each time.

Until...you get fame level 2, at this point she will give you the "Father Figure" quest. This is the quest that requires a silver ingot. It is NOT repeatable. After you have completed this quest she goes back to asking for copper ingots, silver ingots, and sometimes mythril ingots

Check my Bastok fame list if you like...

try this...

I think that her quests are related to the NPCs in the area. I got both of hers fairly early on and I think that one thing I did in between them was to talk to just about every NPC. Now, I'm not sure of the timing but try doing the "Galkan Sausage" quest and make a point of actually talking to her neighbor Gwill to get the instructions instead of just forking over the item to the metalworks NPC. After you complete that, go back and get a quest from Gwill where he asks you to get him some cinnamon. When you turn that in, you see a cut scene where Michea and he give their gifts to the "father figure" NPC. After doing that, I got the copper quest again.

It's not automatically copper then silver.

I've gotten copper 4 times in a row. There has to be a fame requirement. Anyone figure out how high yet?
This is Incorrect
# Apr 06 2004 at 4:43 PM Rating: Decent
This quest, "Father Figure" is the one where she asks for a Silver Ingot. "The Elvaan Goldsmith", also given by this NPC, is the one where she asks for a copper ingot. This quest was correct yesterday, but not it is wrong, you may want to fix it.
Repeatable??
# Feb 21 2004 at 11:26 AM Rating: Default
How is this repeatable? I talked to her, she asked for a cooper ingot, I gave her one. Talked to her again, she asked for a silver ingot, I gave her one. Talked to her again and she just said that it was hard being a goldsmith, or something like that (didn't ask for anything). I tried just trading her another silver ingot and she didn't take it.

Nevermind, I figured it out, you have to zone first. However, when I tried it a second time she only asked for a copper ingot, never a silver one, even after I gave her the copper ingot.

I've done the quest 16 times now, after the first four times I just decided to buy a stack and now after a whole stack of copper ingots I'm just giving up on it and will come back to it later when my fame is higher because obviously something is wrong with my fame. If the quest was just given out randomly then I definitely should've gotten it after 16 times. Or I just have VERY VERY bad luck.

I just walked up with a copper and silver ingot, gave her once, talked to her then gave her the silver.... AH 1500, she gave me 2200... instant 700 woo... though I lost out on the copper :( 400 for 180 return or something like that.
weird

I have a lvl 7 fame in bastok and I still cannot do it. Is there any other starting NPC is should talk to before I can do the quest?
Father Figure
# Jan 28 2004 at 3:51 PM Rating: Default
I have done the Copper Quests 3 times, and about 7 other quests. Still can't get the Silver Ingot quest. Maybe it's my Fame, how do I check that?

Flipper
How to get
# Jan 13 2004 at 4:58 AM Rating: Decent
I had 25 unique quests done and she still wasn't giving me this quest. I turned in another copper ingot to her, zoned, came back, and got the quest.

I keep trying to repeat it, and she keeps giving me the copper ingot quest instead. I will keep trying and post here if it is indeed repeatable.

Payed 2k gil on AH for silver ingot, 200gil profit, not bad I guess for a small fame boost
quest
# Dec 03 2003 at 10:31 AM Rating: Default
I think you have to have a certain amount of fame for the silver ingot one. I did the copper 3 times before I was finally allowed to do the silver one (i also did a few more quests as well to try and speed it along).
fame?
# Dec 02 2003 at 8:26 PM Rating: Decent
It says that no fame is needed for this quest...
I checked with the guy in port bastok, and he knew my name...?
Obviously some fame is required.
