Fear of Flying  

I just soloed this as a lvl 31 BLU/ NIN. Killed it in about 35 sec with only 50 hp lost. I definitely could of taken it out at lvl27 or 28. Very easy kill.

Im a lvl50 THF and i just killed the NM for this quest, got drop, but when i go talk to this guy all he says is "Do i like airships? are you crazy? they're a menace". and if i trade to him he says nothing. can somebody give me info on how to get this quest??
Edit: i have little or no fame in bastok could that be the reason??

also if you guys want to talk about killing the mob do it on the page about the nm not the one about the quest it gets things cluttered.

675 HP on this thing

Dropped a Holy and a Seraph Strike on it

And then it bounced off my spikes x 2 and died on me

Found it in the SE corner of H-7. When you find the solitary tree, it's just nw of that, still in the H-7 corner.

Couldn't get any easier. Battle went something like this...
Freeze: 757 dmg
Weapon: 26 dmg
ShockSpikes: 6 dmg

I'd say it's health is right around 784-789.

Easy as a 51BLM/WHM.

Killed it 1 shot as a 52 BLM w/ freeze 906 dmg didnt need to buff up. But i wasted time buffing so i missed the ship back to Bastok...

yah I'm a 54 blm and I bond it and casted freeze hit for 801, death ,never even hit me. I know I wanted to get it but I'm taru so it could wait I need more help with af them this

Killed as a 25 Drk/Nin.

Had to 2hr it, and use a hi potion i had on me.

Just killed the Silk Caterpiller twice in a row. As said, it is very easy to find it. Lower right corner of K-7. I did it at night, and during the day. Didn't see the airship, but saw spawn easily both times. Did it as 50 RDM/25 WHM. Barely damaged me before Stoneskin first time, using other spells to beat it down; left me at 676/804 second time (didn't use anything besides Protect II and Shell II) and I fought it only with sword, besides the initial Fire II to get it's attention. Took it out in seconds and got egg both times. No exp at this level though it read "Impossible to gauge". It tried to poison me but it didn't work either time. I didn't see any of the Berry Grubs mentioned at all. My fame was 3 or 4 when I got the quest. I'm from Sandy, so had to get fame for other quest (Mainly to get Teleport-Dem scroll: AH prices for tele scrolls are completely rediculous especially since I am soloing the quests very easily with no problems with my 50 RDM). My WHM is 35, so I figured I'd get tele scroll quests because to poor to by from AH and logged this quest to get fame. Wasn't needed for fame, but doing it now since in Rolanberry area. Easy quest to do if higher level. If you need fame, good one for it.

I just got this quest at Fame lvl 3. The caterpiller was easy to kill too.

It has about 1000 HP. I just killed it. Easy as pie.

Technically, Kurando is at (H-7) not (H-6). He's next to the "Harbor Way" S wall, down the stairs at H-6.

30 MNK / 12 WAR, used 100 fists but I probably didn't need to. He went down fast, left me with 595/697 HP, but he did poison me which lasted for a while - I was 435 HP when the poison effect left. Dropped a silk thread and the quest item, and gave me 100 XP.

Killed it as a 31DRG/15THF

I was chatting when I engaged it, so I forgot to Sneak Attack it for the first blow. I also forgot to summon my Wyvern until already engaged. I still had no trouble killing it. Had about 125/542 or something like that at the end of the battle

I have a pretty decent amount of fame in Bastok. I did the repeatables enough times to get Warp. But I cannot get this quest. Any idea why? I figured I was so sure to get it that I killed the Caterpillar before I even got the quest. Egg dropped on first kill- I soloed it with ease with 41/20 BLM/WHM.

Anyone else having trouble getting the quest? He just tells me he hates airships. I tried trading the egg anyway but no dice. Argggg.

I am unclear on this do i have to kill this thing from rolanberry or on the airship? I just now got the quest and am still one key short of takin the airship.

Kurando is at H-7 in bastok port.

I was passing by Rollanbery Fields then I saw this Silk Cartepillar. I knew it was a NM, then I checked it and it appears Impossible to Gauge for me. Im level 38whm and already have the quest. So I didnt tryed to kill it.

I found the Silk Caterpillar by accident roaming around Rolanberry looking for a stone monument.

I solo'd is as a female elvaan Lv30 warrior with Lv18 whm subbed at Lv15. I used Mighty Strikes (2 hour), and Defender, and killed the bitch with like 4/5 health to spare and didn't use any whm spells except Paralyze and Dia. Isn't very hard.

Is the Silworm Egg an EX quest item, or is it the same thing as Crawler Eggs? If it's the same as Crawler Eggs, could you just buy an egg and give it to him without killing the caterpillar?

I solo'd it as a lvl 30 taru monk (subbing 12 war) using 2 hour.

Talk to Kurando in Port Bastok, around the tunnel close to the beach (H-6/7)

2. Contents - To let people know the terror of the airship, please bring the proof of the monsters that appear in Roranberry fields when the airship passes.

3. Defeat Silk Caterpillar (looks like a Berry Grab), and get the silkworm egg. It spawns when
airship passes around K-7.

4. Be careful, it links with Berry Grab, and there are Evil Weapons around. Level 30 will read it
Even Match.

5. Trade the egg with Kurando.

6. As a reward, you will receive Blacksilk Neckachief (Lev 20, Def 2, Int+1, Res.Darkness+3)

What is the name and location of the monster that needs to killed for this quest?
