Dark Legacy - DRK AF1  

i went to H-14 and went to the ???. i couldn't find any help so i decided to wait for a while...
After about 5 minutes, a lvl 41 DRK and a lvl 50-somethin RNG came out of no where, invited me to a party, and we easily killed the mob.

Did this the other day as a 42 DRK with the help of a 52 RDM and 60 RNG (i think)

He started with plain stun, then the rdm silenced and began debuffing while the ranger pulled it with ranged attacks; she was doing 190-199's, got off 9 in the entire battle with some melee here and there, additional effects off the arrows and a Cyclone (she didn't barrage, eagle eye or ws with the bow).

I loaded up with the Big 3: Berserk, Last Resort, Soul Eater, didn't realize till I did two swings and was at half hp that I forgot to use Blood Weapon, did a Drain, popped that on and went to town on him.

I did a total of 896 damage (excluding hp drained from blood weapon since I don't think it does additional damage, and the excess from drain spell I didn't get full value off (got a Cure IV just before and drained 24)) The ranger did 2129 damage, the rdm tagged on 613 damage with melee and enblizzard (excluding the damage from frost).

I missed once, the ranger missed once with ranged and once with melee, the rdm didn't miss at all. I would say his evasion and def are very mage like.

Total damage done was at least 3638, but probably his hp is 3700 or so. The rdm recast silence on him and I don't think he ever casted, not sure if he used Manafont since I had special effect from others filtered.

ok this was pretty easy to do, i just talked to the guys in metalworks, rode the airship back to jeuno, then windy, went to waters, talked to that taru, bought a yagudo cherry at the AH, hooked up with my ls mates (me 42drk, 53drk, 51rdm, 52rdm and some lucky *** 43 drk who was gonna try and solo it but ran into us first^^) Once you find the ??? trade the yagudo cherry to it (this is required only once because once you kill it, anyone can get the key item whos in the pt so you only have to kill it once) What i remeber about the fight was it does nast AOE, not much of a prob if you have two 50+ rdms healing in the back and 3 drks smacking the hell out of it^^ My advice to you people who want this awesome scythe, plan ahead... make sure you have PLENTY of help it would suck dieing on that guy -.- anyways good luck to all you guys!

We cleared out the other yagudos first, then got protect and shell. The mnk/war voked and held hate. I took a lot of dmg from -ga spells, and went down to about 90 hp. The other two guys took little dmg.

The NM doesn't drop anything. After the battle, target the ??? again, move up against the wall, and keep moving around and hitting the enter key until you get the key item (it took me around 30 tries with it saying "target out of range").

my story : i went with a party to get keys for a friend. we had to many ppl u could say for hlping xD...a lvl 50 whm 49 thf,40drk (me) 36 whm
33 mnk, and the 25 war, after geting a key in mere miniutes it acoured to me. get my AF1 whilst im here/i'd done first part of the quest easlier, all i had to do was go back 4 a cherry.
all but the 36whm and 25 war wanted to help.
at fisrt i was thinking it wil b a piece of cake. i mean, i read these posts and heard it was easy.but just incase! we asked around for help, we ended u with small alliance of 8 ppl
2 40 drks. whm 60. pld 50. thf 49. whm 50. mnk 33
and a tag along 24 rdm (i have no clue why he/she came but hey, cant hurt)

i laid the cherry down and BAM! my HP is reduced to half and the rdm is down. panic...the pld does his job and the whm's heal me etc. in a matter of 1 min the yagudo goes down but 2 ppl died
the mnk and rdm. thundaga II i think it was obliterated 2 ppl

edit: don't get worked up about it tho, i did it again to help some othr DRK's, we had 3 drks (40ish ofcorse) and a 65 DRG. killed it in 20 secs using our 300% TP

Just did this today along with the pld AF1. Had the help of 69drk who solo'd the thing. The reason he solo'd is was because as soon as the NM spawned it went ape **** and spammed -ga II spells. After stonega II watergaII and thunderga II me and the pld were lying on the ground face down. He killed it with 180hp left and we stayed KO'd till we got raised by his rdm friend. If you die during the battle don't respawn, you can still get the formula from the ??? if you die and get raised.

A lvl 66 PLD and I (LVL 41 DRK) did this fight even though i died i got a raise and than cheked the ??? and got the Formula that i needed.

A level 65+ can solo this mob without trouble (With the 40ish DRK as company it's not a problem at all). So It's worth getting just one lvl 65+ rather than a party of 40-50s. Only thing is, make sure the 65+ keeps aggro throughout the fight since some of Vaa Huja's moves (Double Kick, anyone?) can eat the vast majority of your lifebar in one go.

I was reading this thread, and found it very unclear, so I’m posting what I did to complete this quest.

1- Talk to Raibaht in Metalworks (Bastok). He’s in the same room as Cid, on the 2nd floor.
2- He will send you to talk with Mighty Fist in the Dark Steel Forge (first room on the left as you enter the Metalworks).
3- Then you have to go see Cochal Monchal in the Windurst Library (H-12 in Windurst Waters)
***This is the part I found unclear***
4- I couldn’t find Vaa Huja the Erudite in Giddeus anywhere, so I went back to Windurst to get a Yagudo Cherry (sold by either Ahyeekih (H-10 Windurst Waters), Fiva (G-6 San d'Oria Port), Yafafa (I-5 Bastok Markets), but the they will only sell it if their nation is in control of the Kolshushu region .).
5- I went to H-14 in Giddeus and turned in the cherry to the ???.
6- Vaa Huja the Erudite then spawned right away. *Note: might be a good idea to clear the other birds around the ??? before you do the turn in as they will link.
7- Killed Vaa Huja the Erudite. He did not drop anything.
8- Double clicked on the ??? (or select it, then hit the enter key on your keyboard). I had to hug the wall. Got the key item “Dark Steel Formula”.
9- Went back to Bastok’s Metalworks, and saw Mighty Fist. He’ll tell me to go to Raibaht.
10- Went to see Raibaht, there a cut scene started with Raibaht, Cid, and myself. At the end of the cut scene, got my Raven Scythe.

Library is in Windurst Waters

I did it with a small alliance of 8 and we absolutely slautered it. I did it a few weeks ago, so I will try to remember our configuration as best as I can.

We sat there for about ten minutes discussing strategy, buffing up, worrying about whether we would live through it, etc. We finally decided we were ready. Bard was in one party and whm was in other. Notice our complete lack of tank and overabudance of dmg dealers.

The other 41 drk traded the cherry and the 55 drk provoked it to act as tank. Our whm tried to cast silence on it ad by the time he got done with that and had started to cast cure 3 on the 55 drk, it was dead.

Literally. We killed it in under a minute. With the stories I had heard, I was worried. The 52 drk had a semi-traditional party setup when she did it and their highest level was 60. Apparently, she barely survived the fight. Seems all you really need is a healer and a crapton of dmg dealers to bring this guy down fast.

Oh, and for those who may not know. This is unlike other AF quests that require every single individual to kill it to complete the quest. We killed it once and BOTH drks who needed to complete the quest were able to obtain the book.
