Summary

The Tenshodo is gathering expert thieves to its fold. Carry out your orders by handing the Tenshodo envelopes to the appropriate people and having them sign the documents within.

Walkthrough

Start this quest by talking to Nanaa Mihgo at J-3 in Windurst Woods. Next, head to the Tenshodo headquarters in Lower Jeuno; to get in, you will need a Tenshodo Invite.

Just inside the HQ, talk to Harnek for a cutscene in which you and several other thieves are given envelopes and sent out to find old members of a legendary band of thieves. You are told to find a galka thief in Selbina.

Head to Selbina and talk to Elfriede at J-9 in the Shepherd's Muster Inn. In a cutscene, the thief Sneaking Tiger appears and says you must prove you are worthy by bringing him a Quadav Stew. The stew can only be stolen from certain quadavs in Beadeaux, including Garnet Quadavs, Silver Quadavs, Zircon Quadavs and Bronze Quadavs. Using thief as a subjob on a different high level job works ok for stealing the stew. Once you get the stew, return to Selbina and trade the stew to Elfriede for another cutscene with Sneaking Tiger. Then head back to the Tenshodo in Lower Jeuno and talk again to Harnek. After the ensuing cutscene, you receive your Marauder's Knife.

Can't get quest?
# Dec 03 2004 at 11:14 AM Rating: Default
I have a galka as my 2nd character and I just did a rank2 mission for Windy where Nanaa tries to jump me. I talked to her after the mission was over and she contstantly tell me to get out of her face. My thf is 39 now and I really need to get this knife, but she won't give me the quest. Is there any type of rank or fame you have to have in order for her to give it? Any help would be appreciated.

i know you don't have to have quest to get this. I was a 58 blm with 25 thf sub and i stole this from either garnet or silver in 2 tries. didn't know what it was so i ate it! it sucked for my stats being a blm and all. i was still farming the old quads and pulled another garnet down, or maybe it was bronze, so i could get mp and i stole another 1 first try. asked ls what it is for and found out it is for thf af1. been in my mog house ever since. interesting that some thfs have a hard time stealing it and i stole it 2 times in one farming session.

how long should i equip this dagger (single wield)

I am lvl 49 and i am noticing my SATA is losing its DMG power. Is it time to get a different dagger? And what would you suggest?

thanks

i suggest using this unitl around 46.. i think it is. Well, whenever it is, use a bone knife+1 over this, marauders is a good knife but eventually dmg output just lowers.
Rare/EX....
# Nov 16 2004 at 3:01 PM Rating: Default
You can't dual wield it. It's Rare/Ex, rare means you can only have one on you (inventory, mog house, delivery box, storage, AH) and EX means you can't trade it to another player of sell it. Rare/EX are either special (or AF) armor, weapons, or quest items.

Don't even try to get the quest again, you can't unless you throw out your current Marauder's Knife. If you want to dual wield I recommend you use Calveley's Dagger/Knife for your other hand.

The simple fact that the concept of RARE/EX need to be explained to a level 40 makes me wonder what that person has been doing all this time..
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 15 2004 at 2:36 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) How do i start the quest again? Nana just congratulates me on having a fine weapon when i talk to her..
Too Easy

Hmmm,
I stole it in two tries as a lvl 38thf/nin. I don't know what all the hubbub is about. Zircons conned DC to me. I stole from Silver Quadavs while in battle. Between Utsu and Bloody Bolts, I was never down more than 100 hp. Even managed to mug my mobs. Only problem i had was getting a pt afterwards, like always.

Just did this quest...first two tries, I stole from Silver Quadav who were at the edge of the upper area...I failed both times.
Third try, I waited for a Bronze Quadav to reach the edge of the raised area, and stole from it, and got the stew :)

I just did this (41 THF) and I figured I'd share how it went.

First and foremost, I set my homepoint in Selbina (I've dubbed Selbina the armpit of Vanadiel) so I could warp scroll back from Pashlow. After I did that, I figured that was probably a dumb move, considering the walk back to Selbina wasn't going to be half as bad as the walk/choco from Selbina back to Jueno.

Attempt #1: So I get there, and I don't know Bedeaux all too well, so I figured I'd go with the "range a quadev from the upper row" method. I went a little bit in, and finding one that wasn't going to link wasn't easy, but I did it. Shot a silver, he came down, stole, and was unsuccessful. He conned easy, I tried to just finish the fight, that wasn't going to happen. He hit too often and too hard, (I have a lot of agility bonus too) so I zoned him before I ate dirt.

Attempt #2: I returned when steal came up, and I saw a lone garnet behind the rafters right at the zone. I didn't realize, those rafters were a literal wall, until I shot him. He tried to go through the rafters to me, (most mobs when you shoot them from different heights scale freakin cliffs to get to you) but he couldn't do it. So he started his journey, all the way around. I thought to myself, well that's no good...he's going to bring a lot of friends..I moved closer to the zone, and sure enough, roughly 8 quadev I could count were charging toward me. I took a few hits, stole unsuccessfully, and got the hell out of dodge, almost killing some poor sap 32 RDM. He said, "That's quite a train!" I apologized profusely.

Attempt #3: Wise to the quadev ways now, I went back, and went a little deeper than I had gone the previous two times to try and avoid training like a noob. This isn't easy, considering all the stupid coppers walking around the lower level. I shot a silver when I thought it was clear, and he came down without links, but a copper still managed to join in. Ignoring him, I stole, and I GOT IT! (I never engaged any of these after the first one.) Ecstatic, I fleed, toward the entrance, not caring that I would be killing any innocents in my path.

Except just as my flee wore off, I realized...I hadn't fleed toward the entrance. I had gone deeper. Bedeaux looks pretty similar around all those brown corners. I looked behind me, and there must have been 16 angry quadev raging toward me. The only thing that was going to save me was perfect dodge, I busted that, and I swear, my chat log FILLED with "dodged the attack"s, as I used that warp scroll. Was VERY glad at that point...that I had set HP in Selbina.

So..moral of the story:
Don't shoot the ones through the little rafters
Don't be a jackass and flee the wrong way
Set your homepoint in Selbina if you want to play it safe.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 06 2004 at 11:08 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) what difference does it make if your homepoint is in Selbina or Norg? Warp Scrolls aren't any faster the closer you are.

2nd steal try and got it

I did this last night as a 34THF/17NIN, it was too damn easy, i stoled it from a bronze quadav, in my 2nd attempt, just range attk any bronze, zircon, silver and garnet quadavs, go near zone then steal from them, i recommend this cuase they are T at lvl 34, and magic hits very hard, i prefer bronze quadavs cause they are weaker, zircon casted on me thundaga 2 times, leaving me in red ><, while bronze only casted banish II doing little damage to me, forget about being behind, i already ranged attk him and then used steal only for a 2nd time :P, maybe i was just lucky

I tried stealing this as PLD/THF (71/35) and failed about 4 times before I went to check online. After reading this list I switched from my PLD gear to my THF gear (DEX+21 or something like that) and got the stew on my next try (stole from behind on a silver quadav).

So, as someone else posted, anyone can steal this (I activated the quest but hadn't talked to the Galka yet) and it seems like increased DEX helps.

Tip for the quest:

IF you are rank 4, or on your way there. You will need to do the Magicite Beadeaux Mission. While you are on the mission pick up a Quadav Stew. I stole one while on the mission, before I knew what it was four. Then when I figured out I could use it for AF, boy was I happy!^.^

IF you are not doing the Magicite quest. The Stew is still rather easy to steal. Stole it from the first Quadav I tried when I was at lvl. 34. Think it was Zinc.

I'm only lvl 24 right now, while I was helping a friend out, can't remember what exactly, I stole from a qudav, cause my friend told me beastcoins can actually sell at AH. I got this instead, but I threw it away because I didn't know what it was for :'(

DONT PULL!!!

Just steal the stew from any quadav that is close to the edge of the raised portion. Stealing when you dont have aggro greatly improves success rates.

Target and keep jamming your steal macro till it fires off, got it my first try.
pull than steal?!?!
# Aug 18 2004 at 2:08 PM Rating: Decent
Why the heck would u pull it first. chances of stealing when enemy doesnt know your there are much greater. I got this by the OFFICIAL guide by the way.
RE: pull than steal?!?!
# Aug 22 2004 at 8:20 AM Rating: Excellent
Just so that you know, there are many things that are incorrect in the guide, due to both mistakes made by Brady, and by the fact that the game is constantly being updated, and it's kind of hard to keep something in print up to date with a product like Final Fantasy.
Personally, I would agree with your statement, although I have no specific "evidence" to back it up. I just thought you would want to know that the guide isn't allways right.

Edit: Edited for a typo

RE: pull than steal?!?!

I gotta agree with that, but not only does the Brady guide make mistakes, it all leaves alot of stuff out. Understandable that it is impossible to be able to put it all into one guide with FF, but little things like not listing NPC grids or unclear or imcomplete walkthroughs is what pisses me off about that guide -_-'

About to get my Marauder's knife this weekend XD
Just got mine

i just stole this off a bronze quadav with my lev34 THF. i tried 2 silvers at first (much like everyone else) then figured what the heck. pulled him in off the hill with boomerang, stole, and got the stew.

i figured i would post since i know i was looking up and down this page for as much reassurance as possible. hope this helps guys.
