Summary

The Tenshodo is gathering expert thieves to its fold. Carry out your orders by handing the Tenshodo envelopes to the appropriate people and having them sign the documents within.

Walkthrough

Start this quest by talking to Nanaa Mihgo at J-3 in Windurst Woods. Next, head to the Tenshodo headquarters in Lower Jeuno; to get in, you will need a Tenshodo Invite.

Just inside the HQ, talk to Harnek for a cutscene in which you and several other thieves are given envelopes and sent out to find old members of a legendary band of thieves. You are told to find a galka thief in Selbina.

Head to Selbina and talk to Elfriede at J-9 in the Shepherd's Muster Inn. In a cutscene, the thief Sneaking Tiger appears and says you must prove you are worthy by bringing him a Quadav Stew. The stew can only be stolen from certain quadavs in Beadeaux, including Garnet Quadavs, Silver Quadavs, Zircon Quadavs and Bronze Quadavs. Using thief as a subjob on a different high level job works ok for stealing the stew. Once you get the stew, return to Selbina and trade the stew to Elfriede for another cutscene with Sneaking Tiger. Then head back to the Tenshodo in Lower Jeuno and talk again to Harnek. After the ensuing cutscene, you receive your Marauder's Knife.

First, I tried a Silver, no luck.

Second, I tried a Zircon, no luck.
(Bio and Water II took me to half life.)

Third, I tried a Garnet, got the stew.

Now, I'm omw to get my knife.

After I accept this quest can I just use another higher lvl job to steal the stew or do I have to use theif?

So I start the quest, and decide to steal from the silvers, as every thief I asked said they dropped it.

I try a couple times, and zone to passhow without any success. I decide to go over to zone in qulun dome, and I start stealing from silvers again. No luck. An hour and a half later, still no luck.

I ask my LS, and someone tells me to try garnets. On my first try, I get the stew.

The moral of this story: Silver Quadavs suck.
Not really that hard

Alright, well, I was bored one night and realized I qualified for my first AF piece, so I looked up this very page, read thru the posts and thought to myself: "Oh great, with my luck I'll be doing this all night".

Anyhow, this is how my experience went. It wasn't that hard to do this:

First try, I zoned in, walked 10 ft in, and hucked my ranged weapon at the first sucker (Silver Quad) I saw. Waited for it mosey around its fence and stole from at is walked up to me. Nothing

Second try, after realizing I just zoned a silver quad on some poor Taru trying to level, I decided to go to Qulun Dome, and work from there. After I got my bearings, (ie, visually memorized the route I would be taking back to zone) I went up to the first door I saw on the suface. Opened it up and saw to chump Bronze Quads. First 2 tries, nothing. But the 3rd, BAM Stew. I spent maybe 25 mins trying to steal.

Now to dispel some myths.

A) My DEX sucks. I am wearing Courage Rings and barely any DEX gear as you can see in my score: 45+1 DEX. So DEX prolly didn't help me get the steal.

B) Yes, you can steal from Bronze. So, I would think, that as someone trying to get this done ASAP, that you would steal from the lowest level target and not bother with the harder ones.

I will, however, point out that I made sure the Quadav wasn't facing me or agro'd on me when I made the steal (Tonko ;) ).

Conclusion: Some people must have crap for luck, or haven't read the description on stealing.

Just did this, really easy, took me 3 tries, you can steal the stew from the bronzes. And dex doesn't have anything to do with steal, that was a fluke

The other day I went to Bedeaux with another THF.. I was lvl 40 and she was lvl 41. She stole stew on first try from Silver quad and we were both stunned. I had been trying for over half an hour with no luck. We started talking and found out that her DEX was base 54 +10 and mine was base 46 +8. She had 2 balance rings/+2 dex that she let me borrow and after equipping them I stole stew on first try from Bronze quad.. hopefully this helps... cya around

I hear a lot of people sometimes crying about how retardedly hard this is, maybe I'm just lucky, maybe I'm not, however I just went in to Beadeaux, pulled the closest Bronze Quadav I could find (a Bronze Quadav) used my Steal macro, got the stew, and bounced. Took all of 2 minutes :)

Thieves rock ...

I was farming Beadeaux with my 51 PLD / 25 THF, and I stole a Stew from a Bronze quad. So you dont have to be a 40 THF to get it, since My THF had just gotten lvl 25.
Bronzes like stew too.

While doing the rank 5 mission for my level 32 thf/rng alt last night, we engaged a Bronze Quadav, and I stole the stew from it quite unintentionally while hoping for beastcoins. So, yes, Bronze Quadavs do indeed have the stew. =)

I tried a bit at 40, not much though. Went today at 42 during some down time, pulled a few silvers to the zone, zoned, came back, and stole while one was turned away, got the stew, and took off ^^

My lv 70 friend was helping me killing 20 Copper Quadavs for Bastok Misson and another lv 40 Mithran THF with AF1. While watching them whacking at Silver and Garnet Quadavs, I decided to join the fun. I ran up to it when it's almost dead and stole, fail... tried again, fail...

On my 5th or 6th try, I got the Quadav stew and I was only lv 25 Hume THF lol. About 1-2 hours later, the lv 40 Mithran THF finally got the item. Also the lv 40 THF would steal in the begining of the fight while I only steal when the mob is almost dead. Maybe this has something to do with it.

Failure...
# Apr 30 2004 at 3:11 PM Rating: Decent
I'm a level 39 Thief/Ninja and decided to try and get the stew so I can get my dagger without any worries at level 40.

I'm having the same problem as another guy here, every steal is a fail, not even a beastcoin.

I've been doing this for a while, and still in Beadeux.

I've been trying to steal from: Bronze, Silver, and Zircon Quadav.

Sometimes I fight them to the end (thank god for Utsusemi), and sometimes I flee to the Qulun Dome zone.

Anyone else know why it always fails? I've never had this problem stealing from mobs that have stuff you can steal before...
RE: Failure...
# Aug 13 2004 at 6:49 AM Rating: Decent
I feel your pain. I've had nothing but complete and TOTAL UTTER failure. I've waited until they were almost dead. I've tried when they're at half life, full life. Nothing! I've had an easier time stealing from Goblin Robbers, and I'm only lv 40. But I'm gonna keep at it until I get it right. And for the record, I hate Quadavs more and more by the day.
A zone to pull to
# Apr 29 2004 at 8:42 PM Rating: Decent
If you're looking for a zone to run to that probably isn't camped by a bunch of lower levels. Try moving in a bit and going into Qulun Dome.

I actually stole this as a whm40/thf20, while doing part of the rank 4 mission. =D

It's sitting in my storage for whenever I feel like leveling my theif to 40.

I actually accidentally stole this from a Silver Quadav last night. We were camping the De'Vya Headhunter for the Quadav shells it drops needed for rank 5, and i was passing time by stealing silver and mythril beastcoins while we waited. I eventaully managed to steal the Stew without actually starting AF1. So for ppl having a hard time getting the item, I quess it's just all in the luck of the draw.

Make sure everyone in Beadeaux is ok with you grabbing tough quadavs, stealing and running to the zone line. If people are sitting there, they WILL call a gm and you will get busted for MPKing. (Which is a load cause that's not what you are doing.) I was stealing beastcoins in Yhutunga and got a warning for running to the zone line without engaging the mob and there were people there even though I asked them several times to move.
RE: One important thing
# May 16 2005 at 1:47 PM Rating: Decent
It is Yhutunga- people stay at the zone while they wait for their pickup parties. You can't really expect them to move while you make a mess there...

More Detail
# Jan 29 2004 at 12:11 PM Rating: Default
The quest starts from Nanaa Mihgo in Windurst Woods (I think her loc is J-3). She tells you that the Tenshodo have contacted her to find skilled Thieves for a special job. After talking to her, you must go to the Tenshodo HQ in Lower Jeuno (need either the Tenshodo Membership quest done, or a Tenshodo Invite). Just inside the HQ, you talk to the first person there and it sends you into a cutscene where you and several other thieves are given envelopes and sent out to find old members of a legendary thieves band...your particular assignment is to find a Galka thief in Selbina. Search the town all you like, but you won't find him until you talk to the woman behind the counter at the hotel in Selbina.

Once you talk to the thief, he says he'll gladly sign your envelope if you prove yourself worthy by bringing him a Quadav Stew...these can only be STOLEN from some of the higher level Quadav, so you might as well head to Beadeaux. I know for certain that Garnet and Silver Quadav can have the stew stolen after you get this quest, I've also heard Bronze and Zircon Quadav drop it, but have not confirmed this. Anyways, you can literally stand by the zone, use a ranged weapon to pull the Quadav down, steal, and flee to the zone...even if you fail, you can just wait 5 minutes and try again. Once you get the stew, you go back to Selbina and trade the stew with the woman behind the counter of the hotel, and the Galka reappears. From there, just head back to Jeuno, talk to the same Tenshodo you talked to before for the cutscene, and enjoy the dialogue. When it finishes, you are awarded the Marauder's Knife

I've noticed that Garnet and Silver Quadav spawn in Rolanberry Field or whatever. Anyone know if they have to be from Beadeaux or just any of these mobs you can get them from?
RE: More Detail
# Jan 30 2004 at 10:58 PM Rating: Default
You can ONLY get them from Zircon, Silver, Garnet Quadavs in Beadeaux. Ones in other places don't carry the stew.

You can steal this item At anytime, without having achieved lvl40 or talked to Nanaa in Windhurst. Though you must be lvl 40 Thf to complete it, and receive the knife.

Here's a quick strat I used. The Quadavs you're looking for all can be found close to the gate. Steal and Flee have the same cooldown (5min). What I did is, engage a quadav, steal. If failed, flee to zone. Wait 5 minutes, and then try again. Even at lvl 42 with sub 21 Nin (when i did the quest) With all RSE, those quadavs can still hit you pretty hard. So it's best to steal and then run... :) what a thf does best.

Hope this Helps
