Description

I went to Cid after accepting the emissary mission while i happened to be in the Metalworks and he asked me to stop by the Steaming Sheep to see if the patron needs any help with anything. Upon going to the Steaming Sheep I notice a lady ascending the stairs, almost impossible to talk to I managed to fianlly under the balcony next to Potawhan or whatever his name is. She tells her sob story, and then says a customer came in and asked for a Rolanberry (CE 874).

Return to Hilda at the Steaming Sheep Restaurant in Port Bastok and trade the item to her. What follows next is a cutscene that lasted for a little under 4 minutes, explaining her strained relation with Cid. She then gives you a key item called an "unfinished letter" which she asks you to deliver to Cid. Go back to Cid to speak with him about the letter. Yet another cutscene comes and goes. After all that running, you are indeed rewarded! Cid gives you a Ram Mantle

Its a Rolanberry 874 not 847 and yes you can buy it in the AH but you also need high fame to do this quest.

It is actually called the "Drone Crawler" and is lvl 50-55.

The "Guardian Crawler" is for another quest.

I've been trying to get this quest for some time. I recently hit Fame level FIVE and got it. I'm 24th level and did not level between my last attempt at rank four fame and getting rank 5 (I just did a couple repeatable).

I think it's possible the guy above who said his fame hadn't changed might have needed to zone after completing a quest to get the fame, etc.

I got the quest just after getting to Fame Lvl 4. Checked Fame (Lvl 3), completed a quest, checked Fame again (Lvl 4), then got this quest.

Tip
# Feb 19 2004 at 10:09 AM Rating: Decent
To get the Rolandberry 847 you need to buy a regular rolan berry and head to the crawler's nest. Make your way down to the room where there are a bunch of maze lizards. You should see something like a straw bucket as you drop down from the ledge. Examine the ??? and trade it a roland berry. Once you do, a Guardian Crawler will spawn. Kill the Guardian Crawler to get the Roland Berry 847.

Hope this helps
which item?
# Feb 19 2004 at 6:49 AM Rating: Default
I got the quest from Cid and went to Hilda.
She told me about the "a Rolenberry (CE 847)". So I bought "a Rolenberry" (under Food - Ingrediens) for about 1k and tried to trade it her.
But nothing happenend, she doesn't accept it.

Is it the wrong item?
Maybe I need a higher lvl, I tried it at lvl 31. Fame shouldn't be a problem, also I wouldn't have gotten the quest in the first place.

Flaco (just outside the steaming sheep) told be that quite a few people had heard of me, keep up the good work or something to that effect. He is the way to determine your Bastok fame and I couldn't get this quest with the previous level of fame.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 08 2004 at 12:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) 30 Unique Bastok quests, about 40+ repeatables, lvl34 rank3, no quest offered

I'm level THF30/NIN10 with over 40 bastok quests complete, rank 3, a dozen other quests total from sandy, windy, jeuno, and other. All Cid ever says to me is "I'm buisy kid, Come back later." I can not seem to get this quest... Any thoughts?
RE: annoyed

you need BASTOK fame, fame from other cities doesn't matter if it is Bastok, San d'Oria or Windurst quests.

Scratch this post, I finaly got it after 2 more days and no other additions to the quests I had completed. Wonder if it was just a Minimal Play Time...

you said you tried it at lvl 30 and couldnt get it, then 2 days later you tried again, what was your level when you actually got it? i know for the most part quests dont require a certain lvl, but it appears to me that the obvious ones such as choco, sj, etc etc, but i think that the tele'scrolls quests also require a certain lvl. hope for someones wise input on this. gl
Talking to the woman

You don't have to wait for her to walk anywhere to talk to her, just get her targetted and walk directly under her, you can talk to her through the floor.

I read the letter and it said this:
[
"Dear Cid
I'm soon going to be able to open that restaurant I told you about. I'm glad you accepted my resignation. I regeret not being able to help you with your work anymore, but I'm sure there are plenty of engineer's--"
The letter ends here.
]

Cid thanked me and told me not to tell Raibaht (galkan in the room there) about the reward or the mission.

I obtained a Ram Mantle as the reward.

reward from cid is a ram mantle...
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 14 2003 at 9:45 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think if you read the letter you get 100g, and if you don't read it you get 200g... I might have this mixed with another quest though.

You are. That's the "Mom, the Adventurer" quest, where you deliver a ring to a Mithra child.

You wait around til she is at the bottom of the stairs, then it's easy to talk to her. I bought the rolanberry at the AH for some large but not staggering sum, and gave it to her, and she gave me a letter for cid called "an unfinished letter." I went back and gave it to him, and he was a little sad and thanked me. I forget what the reward was, less than the cost of the rolanberry of course. Someone should try reading the letter to see if they can end the quest a different way...

I think I got crapped out, I talked to cid, I'm part way through m6. The dragon is still alive. He gave me the quest, I talked to hilda, she blabbered and mentioned the rolanberry but doesn't respond when I try to give it to her. I have aproximately 150 quests done. (I fed hungry wolf 110 times) So I don't feel like I'm lacking fame, just can't figure out why she didn't want it. I talked to her again and again she wanted rolanberry. (crappy letters and numbers here)
do the letters and numbers mean anything? I just figured that was restaraunt talk for what kind of item it was to make it seem more authentic. Thanks guys!

ya, the numbers is the date of the rolanberry, there are 3 maybe 4 different kinds, i dont remember. check the info on Hoist the Jelly, Roger quest in windurst to learn more about the different rolanberries and where to get them
