Soloed 75 DNC with ease, only got hit once, be aware of old quadav repopping as it will link

Did the NM as 74 pld/rdm with my regular taning setup (and no food or any extra crap), did the leeches as pld/war then solo'd out a coffer key from Castle O for my drk AF. The NM was a good challenge but none the less mine, you don't need to sub ninja to do this... just need to know your job.

This was way to easy!!!

I was debating on which on which job i should take to own this guy. My 75 NIN, Or my 75 THF, So i decided i would have some fun on my ninja. So i head out there killing off any quads that could possibly link. thinking that this might be decently challenging because it's an AF QUEST. So i pop hi, and mind you i used no food.

He didn't touch me once! i casted Utsusemi: Ni 2 times and that was it. his banish never dealt any damage to me, the only thing that was annoying was when he used that move and i dealt 0 DMG for 2 mins. this guys is a push over, Anyone that has a DD job 60+ can kill this guy, just make sure you sub ninja otherwise, your not going to make it.

I don't mean to disparage those that had trouble obtaining this, but it's not very hard.

I don't remember if I had trouble the first time I did this, but after turning in my old af boots to get the +1 version I figured I'd get these back as soon as possible to stick the armor back in storage and free up my inventory again.

I didn't expect difficulty and didn't get any. While not something a level 50 should attempt on his own no one with a 75 job should have much trouble. I went thf 75 subbed nin, and after a 6 month break I'm still pretty slow on the controller. While dual boxing a 70 whm friend to give me a ride I figured I'd do some chores to get back into the game more and went and got a parade gorget and escaped to go finish this off as well. Started the fight and didn't think it was worth even equipping my SH for an AF2 mob, kept wearing the paz I wear to look less like a valentine's day boytoy, and I hadn't thought to rest the whm I was dualing before so she was outta mp from taking me to do the AF1 weapon and teh parade gorget. Was watching Gross Point Blank at the time and din't even pay much attention to the fight, I went to yellow at one point and thought to rest the whm to toss a convenient Cure V, but I didn't even recast shadows very often. I'm not an uber geared thief, and while the fight took a lot longer than I expected, I didn't even noticing him healing himself - but the Cure 4s mentioned below would explain his longevity a bit, it wasn't trouble at all. Solo'd him with maybe 3 utsemi casts and one Cure 5.

The parasites aren't even worth mentioning, they're in a pond on the way to the coffer farming area. Nothing on the way agroes a 75, or even a 70 as I had the whm on follow to altep me to bastok quick. Killed one parasite, it's a 100% drop, linked the whole pool and stood there with no shadows not being hit while casting altep on the whm.

The most annoying part of the quest is waiting for Deiddog to finish the greaves as he wants you to come back the next day, I'm writing this as I stand next to him waiting for the day to change.

So, is it one game day or RL day for him to give you rewRD? After trading him the parasight skin. BTW of course pwned quadave w/ my assasin/nin he was tough though.

i solo'd the quad with my 75mnk/war lol... counterstance > focus > berserk an just let him kill himslef =P wen he did hit me he di like 200 dmg ;>.> an then he used invincable, formless strikes ftw! was only hitting for like 20ish dmg.. but its better then 0 XD at the end i had about 124/1989 HP left >.>;; so yea i did get lucky, an hundred fists wasnt up either >.< woulda been much easyier i think~

I just finished this w/ 75 Thf/Nin. It was not to bad.

Acid bolts to lower his def.
Blind bolts to lower his acc.
Bloody bolts for the win!
I did not try using any ninjitsu (Slow, Para, Blind, etc). If they would stick this fight would be very easy indeed for a solo Thf above 74.

Also I would warn others that you can not sleep this NM w/ sleep bolts. This means you will not be able to Sneak attack if you try this solo. You will have to grind it out hit for hit.

Ok after reading these stories, i thought it would be easy as DRG73/WHM...

...boy was I wrong. The thing actually pwnt me the first time, got my wyvern down then i just was a sitting duck.

Thankfully, i was prepared the second time and beat him!

Next up: Parasites.

Just did Palborough mines NM solo as a level 71 thf. Overprepared, used a RR hairpin and called NPC buddy...didn't need it. Of note sleep bolts don't work on this NM and Garuda's dagged never proc'd. Used Dancing Edge to interrupt Cure 3 spams at the end...never even made it into the yellow. Bloody bolts are a thing of beauty. Happy hunting guys...gonna finish this rather easy quest tonight.

70 PLD died when nm 12%. i died at 2% thanks to utsusemi. a whm waiting on friend to do bcnm 30 was there, so he raised us and called his drg riend over. easy win =D

This was only my 2nd AF quest ever. After reading the posts here (minus the 'solo'd easy as 75 blah blah) I was worried that I need higher level help. Here was our party config:

52WAR/25NIN <-- Me
55BLM/27SMN
47BRD/23WHM
42WHM/21BLM (note: I may be off on their subjobs)

Our first attempt was a bust, the BRD dc'd and we had to {Escape} . The poor BRD came back and was wiped by the NM, so we went back to get him. After a little discussion we decided to go for it again.

This time our BRD 2hr'd right away, and I was actually able to keep up shadows most of the time. I maintained decent hate, but the BLM made it a little hard. Eventually we all had 2hr'd and MP was a little low, but we survived easy. I was amazed, and the next game day I had my nifty boots!

SMN 75......... CARBY rules.. easy fight, could have taken him down with carby alone but i threw in some other smn's .... fun fight when an old quadav started to interfer,, lol he was only missing carby.....

Umm is there something for the new expansion that I need to take care of before I can get the AF quest?

I tried asking multiple times, didn't help, kept spamming the same msg.

Edit: I guess I started the Green Badge quest without noticing. I was wondering why I was flashing some badge at him... Ohh I'm the police!!

Anyways, I guess I'll have to spend some time talking to the 200 million NPCs I have to talk to... Fine it's only 20...

Edit: Finished the Blue Badge quest thing, then went to talk to him and he didn't budge. Then I recalled something about Phara, went to talk to her, then talked to Deidogg twice and finally the CS for the AF. Now it's time to switch to main and put a katana down the NM's butt...

Well after much debate I got my 70RDM/35BLM friend to help my with this I went as 63BLM/WHM when we got to the quadav pop point we came across a 73war and a 53 war laying dead there we raised em and teamed up for the NM needless to say we owned it but I seriously doubt my rdm friend and I could have taken it out so make sure you bring enough help. As for the skin I went solo on, not too much problem going up there except yags in the hallway before the leech room do aggro to 63. I was kind taken by surprise and died when I ran by 4 of em. But a whm R3ed me and I SNK/INV up to the leeches managed to pull just one then 2hred Flare and Freeze killed it. Got drop and got out. Currently waiting for my new boots now.

THF75/NIN37 Solo'd both parts very easily. Parasites couldnt hit me even with four of them on me and I never even took damage from the Quadav.

Did this fight in Palborough Mines with RDM74/NIN and WHM70/NIN(both of us had undersubbed ninjas embarrassingly). This fight was extremely easy, we both melee and went in with 300tp, full mp. Dispel is very important, mob is weak to thunder. Just kept up enfeebles on mob, stoneskin and sneak on yourself and it should go well. Now off to Oztroja.

When i get to 50 what kind of party or kind of help should i get to do this quest. i really need to know.

I did this as DRK75/NIN37 and RDM73/BLM36. Though I really could have done it solo. I had a pretty standard evasion setup, equipment-wise. He hits hard, but with very low accuracy. My utsusemi casting never got interrupted because he rarely landed any hits. I took 1 hit for 141 dmg. The main problem with this NM is his defense. I did a 300 Spiral Hell for only 600ish dmg. My guillotines averaged 400-500dmg with all 4 hits connecting. The Yagudo parasites were much easier, not to say the NM was hard at all.

He he yesterday I wanted to get AF2 since my WAR has reached level 52 so I shouted for help in Jeuno but only one replied, he was a RDM level 70 and wanted to help me if I pay 100k.

Hmm 100k I was thinking, that is a little high for a first offer so I said can you sub NIN and he said yes then I said ok 50k if you help me and he said I am sleepy, I don’t think 50k is worth my time, good luck. Ok no problems.

So it seemed that I have troubles to get help at thin point because no one replied to my shouting, then I gave it a rest and later on one from my linkhell needed help for NIN quest and a PLD 68 said he would help him and so did I.

We went to Bastok and the mines for the 3 NM and killed them really easy, I found out that I can solo them as WAR52 with NIN sub really easy, and my Spinning Axe did 555 damage on a leech. That is good to know I said.

Ohhh this storey is getting long LOL.

Ok to the NM fight, the PLD68 and the Taru WHM 54 we helped with NIN quest agreed to help me with this NM Paladin level 53 fight.

We went to mines and I quickly figured that the ??? for NM was at the Egg Room. We went there and gained full MP plus got some TP before fight.

I clicked the ??? and Ni'Ghu Nestfender popped, we began fight and realised that this mother was a toughie me and PLD hit it for about 4-30 damage pr. Hit and it hit the PLD 68 for 80+ pr hit ouch when you think of that it’s a PLD 68.

NM HP went down slowly and the MP was running out and we had it to about 1-3 of it’s HP but it used Cure III and now I was like, oh no I don’t want the PLD to die and loose allot EXP so I as stupid as I am called for help when I saw anther PLD is level 50 armour, after some time he came and helped us but we had it death almost and shortly it was killed, but here is the really bad part.

Because I called for help I did not get the drop :/

Oh well better safe than sorry and now I know what we face and need a stronger party set-up.

I recommend:

RDM for Dispel (you really need that) and for black magic.

PLD or NIN for tanking.

WHM for curing or the RDM can do it if he/she has enough magic.

BLM would be very nice since it’s high defence against psychical attack.

I think if we just had Dispel we could kill this mother really fast but have not yet tried it out.

Try level 60+ players and of course you as WAR if you don’t have higher jobs.

do you have to wait one game day to get the reward? he wont give me the AF armor

i went as a 74 thf 37 nin solo the quad. it took about 8 min. as for the leeches i brought a 75 drk/nin with me, they will link all 4 of them no matter what. so keep that in mind. it took about 4min to kill all 4 leaches and they all drop the skin. again not to bad just play it safe and you guys should be fine.
