Summary

The Brugaire Consortium wants you to smuggle a package onto the airship and take it to the Tenshodo in Jeuno.

Walkthrough

You must be rank 5 or purchased an Airship Pass in order to receive this quest. You must already be a member of the Tenshodo to recieve this quest. Tenshodo fame might be required for this quest also, so keep that in mind;

Portaure in Cargo Room B of Port San D'Oria wants you to smuggle some goods to Jeuno. After accepting his request, you receive a key item, "Brugaire Goods". You must take the Airship from San d'Oria to Jeuno with this quest. Warp I or riding on a Chocobo will damage the goods and you will be sent back.

Board the Airship to Jeuno and once you arrive, you will have to pass through customs.

  • There is a chance you will be caught and arrested. Your goods will be confiscated and your airship pass revoked for a period of time.
  • If you do happen to get through customs (you will see a message stating, "You have cleared customs.")
Proceed to Lower Jeuno's Tenshodo headquarters, the Neptune's Spire. Speak with Yin Pocanakhu and she will thank you and tell you to return to Portaure.

After you return, you receive 1,000 gil and the ever popular Tenshodo fame.

Gil making!!
# Nov 20 2006 at 3:59 AM Rating: Decent
I highly recommend this quest if your lvl is less than 50DD or 70 mages. You make about 1.3 k per 12 min with sub blm or blm 17. And get norg fame. after about 100 trip you will get hero fame, assming that you don't need fame quick, it the best way to go. I do it right before i go to bed every night. Take about 4 months but it is worth it bc you barely need to do anything.

Process: hp port sandy, get the quest, airship (if clear) go to trade it, warp back then repeat till get caught (note: you only have 3 min to do the running). If you fail just go to sleep or something. It does take a lot of time but if you don't reall care about getting fame quick this is the best way to go. If you do it perfectly you can get 5 trips per hour.

it totally beat my 500 necklace on main character. Since my mule is lvl 17 blm. and only stay in jueno any way for selling suff.

Otherwise if you are high lvl, just do necklace and harvest or buy zinc.

Good Luck!!

I never even knew you could get caught until it happened to me at around 2:30 or 3:00pm today(EST). So I went to ask.com to find out the time in Japan...gotta wait til like 10pm tonight then, if the suspension period is until midnight Japanese time. I prolly won't do this quest again lol. I have done this quest about 20 times and it never happened to me before today. If you guys coulda seen the look on my face when the NPC was like "Stop right there!". And what sucked(at the time) was that I was trying to get back to Sandy to tend to my little chocobo-chick! So I had to choco home instead.

Patiently waiting for the ban to be lifted

I do this quest all the time with my BLM for Norg fame. It's quite obvious and simple, but all u have to do is go through customs. No need to waste time riding the airship. Warp to Jeuno and procede to the San d'Oria Port, you'll still have to pay the 200 gil to pass through, but then just simply go to the arrivals door and clear customs! It's quite easy and has worked for me every time.
Done it

This is how i did this quest:

Talked with the quest giver and walked away.
When i was outside the warehouse i didnt talk to anyone. I even ignored ppl that /tell me.
I didnt run, i walked normal.
At the Airship dock San d'Oria i didnt speak to the npc but with the door to enter the dock.
I was on airship and didnt move.
I came on the jeuno dock. I walked normal (Dont run) to the exit and talked with the door again. Then i walked slowly to the Tenshodo and delivered the item.
Dunno if this is the best thing to do but it worked for me. It can be i had just luck so i dont say this is the good thing to do.
Greetings,
Stormivan

For those who haven't figured it out, there's a pretty easy way to do this quest. The key lies in which you select at the Port San d'Oria airship departures entrance. I figured this out one night while I was bored.

It's quite simple really. If you examine the door, do the same thing when you reach Port Jeuno. Or, if you talk to the person next to the door, do that when you reach Port Jeuno.

It's worked for me 100% of the time since I've tried it.

Just confirming that charjer's discovery has been true for me as well.

If you depart by the door, then arrive by the door. If you depart by the NPC, then arrive by the NPC.

100% success! ^_^ Thank you, charjer, for sharing that discovery.

EDIT: *sigh* I spoke too soon. Just after posting this I read the reply below me, and he's right. Door-to-door is not 100%, I just got busted ; ;

Guess I'll try sticking Person-to-person.

Absolute luck. For the third time in a row I've gone NPC > NPC and got caught. It was a nice observation that worked for me once, but I'm now 2/5 and that's hardly 100%. *sigh*

Thanks for trying, but for future smugglers, I'd suggest only trying this before you go to bed or something. Going all day w/o outbound flights from Jeuno sucks major ***.

actualy the best time to do this quest would be before midnight Jappanese time as that is when everything rests itself like with 2 hours. but yeah this mthod doesnt work 100% of the time. for me its 90% im 9/10 and i was stupid enough to do this at lunch time EST which means i had to wait 24 hours about.

I've done Person > Person many times and never got caught, I personally have never gone Door > door, but when I explained to someone how to do it they went door > door and got caught. so so far person > person is 100% but door > door isn't.

EDIT: now I got caught. After 10-12 runs and getting the price of rice balls from 158-155 (checked before the run that I got caught). Now I'm a little sleepy so I'm only 80%-90% sure that I went person > person so there's still a possibility it works 100%.

Perhaps what you have to do changes with your fame rank or maybe there's some sort of thing that like ballances between the returning the item quest and this. idk I'm taking shots in the dark.

but anyway. This method seemed to work the vast majority of the time at the least

I unlocked NIN recently and decided to level up Tenshodo fame, there's no way I'm dropping 800k on Utsusemi. I've done this quest six times and been caught four. It's just not worth. I'm gonna stick with murdering the Yagudo in Giddeus with THF sub. I can pick up 25-30 necklaces in less than an hour.

If what someone said is true about being able to board in the cities, just not in jeuno,it seems the best way to do the quest is to set hp in san d. Then you do the quest,if you get caught, who cares. Warp back and do it again.

Edit: I tried it,it doenst work. He wont give you the quest again if you are banned from the airship. He tells you to wait intill the ban is lifted.

Since a couple of people are too lazy to read down:)

Revokation period:
Airship pass is revoked until midnight in Japan. Thats 17:00 CEST (my timezone) and 16:00 GMT. I dunno the US times (you got so many timezones...) but u can figure it out with GMT.

(If you get caught at 15:59 GMT then indeed ur pass is only revoked for one minute!)

Completing the quest:
You need to go through the customs in Jeuno only then will Yin Pocanakhu accept the package. In other words you might speed it up (by warping to jeuno and then going into San departures and back out through customs) but u can't cheat it (you will always have to go through customs and there is a chance u get caught).

Rewards:
This quest rewards you 1000 gil and Tenshodo fame. (As far as I know you do not lose or gain any other fame)

Requirements:
Airshippas (Rank 5) and I think San d'Oria fame level 5 or 6. I used to have a post here with the exact fame but it got purged and I don't really remember (it's been more then a year ago).
Posibly you need to complete the following quest:

If you fail to clear customes, you'll get your pass back w/ in 1 RL day. Also heard that if you fail to clear to customes, you lose fame. Only rumor so take that for what ity's worth.
Possible Changes
# Jul 04 2005 at 6:08 PM Rating: Decent
Ok Got this quest today and did it two times in a row...no problem. Something that I noticed is that Eddy has changed what he says to me before I board the Airship. He used to offer A Discerning Eye but when I have the package on me he only says that he is there to keep an eye out for suspicious individuals. Has anyone else noticed this. Could Charisma level have anything to do with the ability to not get caught?

He will say he is keeping an eye out if you started the quest in another port (bastok, windurst) but never gave the package to anyone. You need to go back to whatever person gave you the package and give it back to him to clear the quest.

did this as a 52 war for the first time; tried the trick of removing all gear upon boarding and dressing back up before landing. also completed the discerning eye quest (first time for the sandy one) on the same trip before re-equipping. oh, and it was during the pre-dawn hours of earthsday.

don't know if any of that really matters, it's just my experience.

I've done this quest maybe 10-15 times now, and i have never been caught. I've done it at all times of day, as PLD, WAR, MNK, THF, WHM, SMN, you name it, I have every job. Maybe it's cause i'm a Mithra? I never do anything special, i just never get caught ^^. One i time i went through customs with the package three times on one repitition and still didnt get "busted". Oh well, i'll just count my blessings i guess. ^^ good luck to everyone out there!

Just tried it. Didn't work for me ><

I'm 0/8 on this stupid quest now, and it's really starting to p*ss me off.

Tried with normal armor, tried with a horrible mish-mash of armor (like lizard helm, royal footman's boots, magna gear... looked gaudy lol), different times of days, tried no communication with anything not required (not even tells/party/linkshell/etc.. just the doors to get into and out of the airship.)... and always "busted!"

I could probably do this a hundred times and still always get caught. There's a reason I only do this if I'm about to log for the night.

EDIT: Wait... I wonder if job has anything to do with this. I think every time I tried, I was a DRK as far as I remember. I wonder if that may have something to do with it.

Your task is to not look "suspicious". So that means not trying to wear any mishmash armor to look gaudy. I wore a full set of Republic gear and got in with no problem.

Just did this as level 20 blm totally naked the entire time, no warp tricks or anything. So i'm 1/1 on this, if that helps with any speculation.

This quest works a little differently than you might expect it to. This quest uses 1 trigger. By this mean that the quest keeps a true or false value if you have gone through customs or not. You can warp, use a chocobo, whatever while doing this quest, just as long as you go through the customs in Jeuno.
Here's what I mean: I set my homepoint in Lower Jeuno, take the airship to Port San d'Oria, activate the quest, WARP back to Jeuno, go into the San d'Oria airship departures area, exit through the arrivals area, and it tells me if I've either cleared customs, or I get caught. From there I dump the goods off at the Neptune Spire if I still have them (and they accept them) and I go back to sandy to finish the quest.
