Description

To expand the Mog Safe a second time, you buy the Mahagony Bed, and put it in the layout. On the Conquest Update on Sunday (Japan 12AM on Monday), the Mog will tell you again that sleeping on the bed has made him homesick and requests you buy 1 Selbina Butter (200-400gil), and 1 Shrimp Lure (3.5-4k). Again, he goes away for a few days (game days), comes back and you now have 70 spaces in your Inventory.

I wonder if half the people posting that they cannot get this quest have done the first one or not? There is a mog house inventory enhancement before this (where you place a bronze bed in and wait). Could be that some have just not completed that yet?

2 things

1. There is an incredible amount of misinformation about this quest. People make this thing WAAAAAY harder than it really is.

2. Here is a list of the conditions you MUST meet to get this quest:

1) Have Fame in your ACTUAL mog house city (not rent-a-room) of 4 or higher.

2) Have completed "Give your Moogle a Break" quest. (or whatever the name is)

3) Placed a Mahogany Bed in your Mog House, it MUST BE LAID OUT, not just in a bank slot.

4) All of the above steps must be completed before conquest tally.

5) Make sure you check OUT of any rent-a-room BEFORE conquest tally happens.

6) Talk directly to your moogle (don't use the Moogle House button in the menu) after conquest tally.

Voila, you got the quest, congratulations. Give the moogle the items, wait a few (vanadiel) days, then TALK DIRECTLY TO HIM AGAIN. You will get the closing CS and finish the quest. Oh, by the way, you can only talk to your moogle to get this quest when you are in your home city, not in a rent-a-room. Following these steps I have gotten all 3 of these quests done quickly and NEVER, I repeat NEVER had any problems getting the quests.

Follow these steps and you will get the quests the first time.

It does require fame to do each mog quest. I think the 3rd is lvl 7 fame. Not to sure about this one. But that is usually the reason you cannot receive the quest. Only other thing I can think of is, you have to place the bed in your mog house before the conquest tally. If not then you will have to wait til the next tally to receive the quest.
Mog House Safe Expansions

Its after every tally and make sure u have it in layout and that you have alot of fame. It will work fine I did it up to the 3rd upgrade 80 slots and it was working every tally but since this new character does not have much fame I was only able to do the first House expansion on my new char/new server.

I was told that you have to put the Mohagany Bed in your mog house before your nation becomes first and you have high enough fame for the quest. Once your nation becomes first then you'll be given the quest.

I hope this helps^^
easy quests
# Jun 21 2005 at 7:05 PM Rating: Decent
Here's my understanding of the quests and how they work, from all the players i've known that do them.

1) Check out of any Rent a Room you have, this will delay getting the quest
2) Put the bed in your house before the conquest tally
3) after the tally talk to the moogle, which should flag the quest for you (some fame may be necessary - but since you do this in your home city I assume you have high fame in your own home city)
4) go buy the things he wants
5) trade them..wait a day or two and talk to him again to receive your extra space

I did the first one without any trouble and am now waiting for the tally to get the 2nd one. I've watched my husband do the first two by these rules with no trouble at all.

Good luck.

Ive had the damned bed for almost a week, and the moogle still just stares at me funny... thought maybe my other bed was affecting it so i removed it, still no go. >.<;
Home nation is in first, rank 5, fame 5, 40+ sandy quests, 100+ quests total worldwide blah blah blah *smacks moogle*
Im getting tired of staring at this stinking shrimp lure and butter, not to mention my mog house is beginning to reek of the local lobster hut. ><
The quest should be renamed to 'A Test of Patience'!

Your nation has to be in first before the Moogle will give you the quest, so depending on what nationality you are, this could take awhile.

I have moved nations after i recieved the 1st quest in bastok. In windy where i moved to, i gave the moogle items, and he expanded safe. Now i have like lvl 1 fame in windy, and mxed everywhere else. Will i have to build windy fame, or should he just give me quest?
getting the quest
# May 16 2005 at 8:27 PM Rating: Default
The moogle gives you the quests randomly. It also is neccesarrily given after a conquest tally. for my first moogle quest, i got it almost imediatly, the next time i went into mog house, before the conquest tally. i had to go send a LS friend some money while he sent me the item he got for me, and when i went to pick the item up i got the quest, the bed had been in my house for a total 10 minutes maybe. my second one however i had put the bed in my house about 2 vana. days after the conquest tally, and i didnt get the quest for awhile... i was wondering why, since i got the first one so soon. a few days (mars time...uh, i mean earth) i got the quest. i dont remember how many days it was, since this was awhile ago, but it was towards the end of the conquest. also some people might think that after each mog quest done, the next one might take longer to get, but this is not true. i know a few people who've gotten their second and third moogle quests pretty quickly (less then an hour or so, earth time.)

so we can conclude that:

- it is given randomly
- it is not related to the conquest... neccesarily, it may be in some manner, as iv seen alot of times people will get it after the conquest tally.
- It doesnt matter how long you've had the bed in your mog house, you can have it in there for 10 minutes, or a week, its all luck.
- The bed doesnt have to be the only furniture in you're house, as iv had other stuff in mine when i got all my moogle quests.

also, im *pretty sure* that you're mogenhancment isnt related to it either, or atleast completely. i dont remember completly, but i think i had mogenhancement: Region, when i did my first one. dont quote me on that one though :P

well, i hope that helped! if you find it helpful rate me up ^^

Whatever element the bed is, has to be the main element in your mog to flag the quest. So if you have 10 flower pots all being of the earth element, and the mahogany bed, which is either ice or water( i forget which) is only a 4... 10 > 4 so you have to take 7 pots out of your layout so the bed is the dominant element. Hope that helps. You have to have some decent fame as well. Mine was Lv 2 and I couldn't get it. I maxed my fame in a day and got the quest immediatly.

Not so. I was able to complete this quest with "overwhelming water energy" in my MH. Elements and Moghancements do not affect whether or not this quest is given.

Nope. Mahogany bed is Light, and i have Moghancement Gardening [Earth]. Just got the quest. (Don't think my fame is high enough either :D )

I have max fame in my home city, and the mog will not give the quest, I put the bed in and after tally..no quest. then the next week I take everything except the dang bed out of storage and layout and mog safe, and sent to mule. Now my moghancment shifts from gardening to experiance. *pop* next tally got my quest...

Update:
I'm thinking it may not have been the moghancment, but rather the bed may need to be sitting in the layout some fixed amount of time?
I put mine in right before the the tally the 1st time, but then it was in all week, and right before the next tally I took everything except the bed out. Anyone confirm? Anyone got this figured out?

I finally got this quest to activate, after a lot of fame raising, but it screwed up. The moogle asked for the stuff, I trade it too him and he said he was leaving to do his thing. I come back about 4 hours later and the moogle is back, but he acts like nothing has happened. I still only have 60 spaces in my MH.
The only thing I can think of is that I went ahead and put the royal bed in after the moogle asked for the stuff and before he got back from his trip, but I don't think that screwed it up because he still responded when I traded him the items.
I hope this doesn't ***** up all my mog safe enhancements. I don't want 60 mog spaces forever.
RE: Screwed up quest

Once you've started, just wait. The Mooogle will still be there the entire time. Talk to him after some time has passed, and you'll get a cutscene. I actually traded the moogle the items, later went and checked into a RaR in Jueno, checked out and talked to my Moogle and was all set.

I'm wondering if the mog enhancement has anything to do with it?

I have a lot of stuff in my mog house, and needless to say the bed is not the dominant piece of furniture. I'm wondering if it has to be to get the quest. It wasn't this last week, but I'll make sure to see that it is this week... will post back here if it works that way.

i'm having the same problem, except i'm rank 5 and have lvl 5 fame. (everyone below says level 5 is enough and i have many friends who have gotten it with level 4 and 5 fame.) i've had the bed in my mog for three weeks. windurst has been in all three positions in the conquest during that time and i've gotten nothing.

this is incredibly frustrating.

I will tell you when I did this, I put my bed in right before the conquest update. I waited until the next update and went to my home city and right after the update again he talked to me. I immediately gave him the items and he was pleased and said he would have something for me.
Within 24 hours I got it.

P.S. I got it while I was in Juneo with my rented room.

Complaint: there is no real furnishing that you get, just the spaces.

Someone a few posts down from me said that it does not matter what place your current nation is in. I would like to correct this, it does indeed matter what place your nation is in when you go to trigger the quest.

For example I put a bed in my MH when my nation,(the few the proud the elvaan) are in third place on my server. My moogle says nothing. I decided to try to talk to him once my nation was in first place, the day after the tally, and he flags the quest for me. So imho your nation does indeed have to be in first place in order for your mog to give you the quest.

Please, stop spreading misinformation about this quest. Today, on Diabolos, Bastok was in 3rd place. After the tally, Bastok was in 3rd place. I spoke to my moogle, and got the quest flagged. Country's place in the Conquest does not, I repeatDOES NOT matter.

This makes perfect sense when you think about it. It wouldn't be fair on the players if they couldn't get this quest because their nation wasn't in first place.

okay whats weird is i gave the mog the butter and the shrimp lure (yeah the quest was flaged) and then it never went away... i left the mog house and returned and it was still there... then i left the city and came back and the mog was still there. so then i went and lvld bst for a while. when i returned it was still there. lol

The moogle never actually leaves for any of these quests. You just have to give them the items then wait a few days and talk to them but they dont actually take a vacation.
Theory
# Jan 24 2005 at 2:08 AM Rating: Decent
Has anyone thought that maybe rent-a-rooms delay the quest? i.e. if the mog isn't there to sleep on the bed (being in a rent-a-room), the quest wouldn't trigger? I'm trying not renting a room for a week, as I placed the bed last week, but didn't get the quest.
update
# Jan 17 2005 at 2:42 PM Rating: Excellent
put the bed in layout on friday, tally was sunday, got the quest monday.

note: you MUST check out of any rent-a-rooms and activate the quest in your home town. this could be the same for finishing the quest.

update: talked to moogle in my jeuno rent-a-room tuesday and finished the quest, so you don't have to be in your home town to finish, just to start.

this has been debunked, the first quest only requires 1 or 2 fame (2 has been confirmed, 1 is reported but not confirmed) so the progression theory no longer holds water.

I have not tested it yet, but am attempting to see whether it can be done at 3 or 4 fame (which it probably can, considering that the quest before it can be done at 2 fame contrary to popular beliefs).

I will report on my findings following the next two or three conquest updates.

ALSO
ELEMENTS DO NOT MATTER
CONQUEST PLACEMENT IS IRRELEVANT
-- it has been completed by people whose nation is in 3rd place

Element

Does the element REALLY matter? Because I have a fully furnished MH with over 40 storage slots. I can't hold all of the extra crap to make light dominant...

I guess I could mule it, but...grr.

# Dec 22 2004 at 12:07 PM Rating: Decent
I am a little confused on this. I read the other posts to see if anyone else has had this problem. I triggered the quest and traded the Selbina butter and shrimp lure. Mog was excited and left. I left the mog house and warped to Jeuno. I forgot some gear and went to get a rent-a-room. But then I remembered that Mog left. I thought maybe nothing will happen but here I am 3 real life days later and no slots. Am I screwed? Or do I just have to trade the items again?
I got it
# Dec 13 2004 at 6:51 AM Rating: Default
Okay I can tell you this much. I got the quest.

My info:
Mog House Element: Earth
Rank: 3 (Bastok is my Home btw)
Fame: 7 or 8 (Not totally sure)
Tally: Triggered after the second tally after getting the bed.
Other beds: No.

Here is what I understand, Rank and Fame have little bearing on this quest. You get the bed, place it in your mog house, two tallys (two weeks)later you can get the quest. Also, you have to actually talk to your Moogle to get it. You can't just select the moghouse command from the menu. You have to select the moogle and engage him like any other NPC.

I'm not sure how or if any of the other info effects your getting the quest. This is just how it worked for me and thank gods its over.
RE: I got it
# Dec 20 2004 at 12:35 AM Rating: Default
Well, you're right and you're wrong. I've initiated all 3 mog house quests without good old Bastok being in 1st, so rank really doesn't matter. Fame, on the other hand, is the deciding factor (other than having the bed of course). Once the appropriate fame level has been reached, and the bed is in the house, at the next tally the quest will initiate. For example, with the 3rd upgrade, I had the nobles bed for about 6-7 weeks and never got the quest. Finally took the time to move my fame up a notch, and this tally the quest initialized. SO it's all about fame, the bed and the tally.
