Description

To expand the Mog Safe a second time, you buy the Mahagony Bed, and put it in the layout. On the Conquest Update on Sunday (Japan 12AM on Monday), the Mog will tell you again that sleeping on the bed has made him homesick and requests you buy 1 Selbina Butter (200-400gil), and 1 Shrimp Lure (3.5-4k). Again, he goes away for a few days (game days), comes back and you now have 70 spaces in your Inventory.

Your country cannot be LAST in conquest. So either your EF ppl suck, or bastok on your server dont do EF's and are always in third

I did that just yesterday (Sunday)
I bought what the moogle need and trade them to him. then i went to sleep.
then Monday morning (which is now) i log in game, i saw the moogle still here, i think he must hv gone for sometimes and came back.. but when i talk to him, he didnt say he was back sth, and my slot is still 60!!! >< why is it so? should i need to wait longer? but how come the moogle is still in my Mog House >< weirdddd

i would wait one RL day to see what happen..

Edit:

well there is still no increase in slots after waiting for RL day >< i called a GM he said my quest is going correctly... I'm thinking.. as I had both my Bronze Bed and Moghgony Bed at the same time.. is it why i cant get the slots?? but i can get the quest!! ><

Anyone had the same problem as mine? Now I took away my bronze bed and only Moghgony Bed is there.. i will wait until next tally to see what happen and report here

My condition that can get Moogle quest:
• Rank 5
• Fame Sandoria-Hero Bastok-Lv 5-6 Windurst-Lv 1-2
• Mog House faint with Light Energy
• San Doria is 1st now
• Get the quest once after Tally on Sunday midnight(Japanese time)
• I put the bed on last Monday
• I did the 1st Mog House Quest
• My resident is in San Doria

• The Reason why i cant get the extra slot
• I hv both Bronze bed and Mog. Bed in my MH, still testing if it really relates

• Edit Again:
Finally I got increase slots! That's when I check my mog house exactly 24 RL hours after the tally. So i think we need to wait RL 1 day after the tally in order to get the increase in slot.

And i DO took away my Bronze Bed, but i think it may not relate as i can get the quest with both beds in the mog house.

Good luck to you all!
So

I don't think it matters if you have your Bronze Bed or not. I'm going to do this quest soon, but when I did the first one I had a Simple Bed in my mog alongside the Bronze and still got the 10 more spaces.

I ran into the same problem Kosby did. I have Hero-rank fame in all towns and already completed Mog Expansion1. I put my Mahogany Bed into my Mog House and layed it out Saturday night two weeks ago, but left my Bronze Bed in. I didn't get the quest, so I tried removing the Bronze Bed. Today, the second Sunday since I put the bed in, I got it. I can't really confirm if the Bronze Bed interferes with this quest, but at least I can contribute something.

Glad I'm not the only one pulling his hair out on this quest. I've had the Mahagony Bed for months now, fame is rank 6. Not even a little peep out the moogle...I'd mistreat him if I could right now. There's gotta be an easier way...what is it that we are doing wrong. I really need the 10 extra slots. Why is it that there's no "offical" way of doing these missions of the moogle. I'm sure once I get this one done...the next one will leave me bald. I'm gonna try all the ideas people been posting & hopefully by the end of the tally I get this moogle to tell me what I want to hear.

P.S. Is there a moogle litter to buy cause mines is crapping all over the place.

Of course I give to charity...I'm part of the needy

You need Fame level 7. I had fame level 6 for a while and I have had the bed in my MH for at least 2 months. I finally got around to killing Old Quadavs in Beadeaux for the Helms for fame. Got enough to get me level 7 fame and left my moogle in my home town and got the quest after the update.

***So from my experience this quest IS based on fame and it needs to be level 7***

I am rank 5, and I don't think that Bastok was in first on conquest on either week. I'll check when I get home from work. Also I never moved the bed, I do have light energy, my moogle was in my hometown over the conquest update, and I only have the mahogany bed in MH. I'd quote what NPC fame checker says but I already went on another Quadav killing spree and have raised my fame to level 8.

Edit: put more info in

It is my understanding that in order to activate this quest you must have done the the first quest, with the bronze bed, AND the element that permeates your mog house must be the element of the mahogany bed, which is light. If the moogle says "Your house is aglow with a faint light energy" that's what you're looking for. After you've done that, wait for the tally, and you should receive the quest. ^^ Rate up if you find this helpful. :)

Hi I am rank5, have hero fame in my home town as well as in jeuno and bastok, and pretty decent fame in windurst too. I've had this bed in my mog house for two weeks and my moogle will not give me the quest. I set my residence to San D'oria before the conquest results (actually I had it there the entire week). I checked after the conquest results were tallied and san d'oria was #1. I clicked on my moogle rather then going through the menu, and i HAVE done mog house quest #1.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Or does any have any ideas why I am not able to get this quest two weeks in a row?

Check your fame for the city you are in. You need atleast rank 5 fame to get the quest to start...I didn't know this and have spent weeks waiting then I thought to check here and sure enough I'm one rank short -.-

I've had the Mahogany Bed in my moghouse for about 7 weeks now, my Bastok fame is 7, but my Rank is 6, and I still havent been able to flag this quest.

My Linkshell says this quest is dependant on not only your hometown fame, but fame in other towns as well (which except for Windurst is very good), I dont beleive them, but it seems like its true.

am I doing something wrong?

I believe I have level 6 fame in my home town of Bastok (when I talk to Flaco he says: "Hello there, Seiryuu. Quite a few people are talking about the things you've done for Bastok. You're becoming quite famous. Keep on doing whatever you're doing!"). I have the Mahogany Bed, and I also still have the Bronze Bed placed (haven't had a chance to sell it yet). For the past two weeks I have had my moogle in Bastok on saturday night to be sure he would be there sunday morning for the tally, yet I havn't gotten the quest yet! I know there must be something I am doing wrong but if I don't figure out what it is soon I think the frustration may cause me to take that moogle and shove that mahogany bed where the sun don't shine.

I've had the Mahogany bed in my moghouse for close to 2 weeks. I've passed two Sundays actually, and still have not gotten the quest to kick in.

Some facts that might affect it, but might not... I still have my Bronze bed in my moghouse, BUT when I go into layout I am unable to remove either of the beds. Remove and Remove All are both greyed out.

I am rank 3. From what i read, rank doesn't matter, and even if it did, rank 3 should be plenty.

i talk directly to my moogle, and he says nothing about the quest.

why oh why won't my moogle do his job and kick this quest into gear?!

Make sure your fame is high enough. Without LVL 5 fame, you will never get the moogle to talk to you.

Depending what city your are, do whatever repeatable quest you need to do to raise your fame. I prefer Bat Wings in Sandy, Cornettes in Windy, and Zurehn Soot in Lastok. (again, lol)

Hi there, SkiltripToo. So, you can't remove items in your layout? What's a moogle to do?! Is your storage full? Try removing an item from your storage, then return to the layout menu. "Remove" should now be active. Hope this helps!

I had no trouble with this quest and received it on my first attempt.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
NATION: Windurst
RANK: 5 (I do not know the minimum rank requirement, or if there is one)
WINDURST FAME: 5 => "Hello there, [Name]! There aren't many Windurstians who don't know that name. We're all proud to have you on our side! Keep up the great work!"
TIME ZONE: EST

HOW'D I DO THAT?!
1: I returned to Windurst and set my Residence to Windurst
2: I replaced my Bronze Bed with the Mahogany Bed in my mog house Layout.
3: The time was 10 AM EST on Sunday (1 hour before the Conquest Results are tallied -- 11 AM EST)
4: I had fun running around Windurst Woods /poking various unsuspecting individuals, freeing up some inventory space, and harrassing the local NPC's. Then it happened (an hour later @ 11 AM EST -- the Conquest Results were being tallied). I ran back to my mog house and as soon I talked to my mog, the quest was logged. The results had not yet finished being tallied. This leads me to believe that the actual results are irrelevant. However, after the results were tallied -- Windurst was #1.
5: I went to the Auction House and purchased 1 stick of Selbina Butter for 500 Gil and 1 Shrimp Lure for 5,000 Gil.
6: I traded the 2 items to my cute, fluffy little moogle. He was so happy.
7: I then waited for my moogle to return from his picnic... (note: I did not remove my bed and did not take up residence in another area until the quest was complete)
8: My moogle returned from his picnic one RL day later (it may have actually been sooner, but I couldn't check due to a pesky thing called "work") and I now have 70 mog safe slots.

I've Been told when doing the Utsusemi :ichi Scroll quest that fame and rank play hand in hand with each other. Example if you are rank 3 then you need to turn in 250 Yagudo Necklaces to have enough fame for quest, but if your Rank 4 you only have to turn in 200 Necklaces for enough fame. Can anyone confirm this Information to be true or False. Plus if it's true then maybe higher rank players will be able to access the Mohagany Bed "safe to 70" quest without rediculusly high fame like 8.

Everywhere for the quest I see mentioned that you need to wait for the conquest tally on sunday, but the oddest thing happened...

First off, I bought the bed mid-day monday because they were relatively short supply and I wanted to have one for the next tally ready and waiting. So I placed the bed in my mog house in bastok, which is in second place. Instead of going back to Jeuno and logging out in my mog house there like usual, I step out of my mog house in bastok and log out a little ways away.

I log back in tuesday and go about what I normally do, took a room in jeuno in the process, but eventually came back to bastok to do a few things, and take a room back there. Then I get bored and check my moogle just for kicks - I got the quest.

I put the bed in monday night, checked it tuesday evening, and I had the quest. No waiting for conquest tally.

So it just seems you need to give your moogle time to actually sleep in the bed. It DOES say it was sleeping in the bed when the quest starts, makes sense that it needs time to actually sleep in the bed, right? How can it do that if you pull it away to a rent-a-room?
Activated it! ^^

I put the bed in Monday morning. So today passes, the tally results go through. My static night ends, return to Jeuno... No quest. Boooo! So I decided to try heading back to San. Set my home back here, walk in, talk to him. BAM! Quest goes active! Just need to way a couple of days now! ^^

I don't even want to talk about how long it took me to get this quest, and I think I finally found out my fatal error, which may or may not be your problem here: REMOVE THE BRONZE BED!!! It sounds silly, but for 2 weeks at Fame 6 I could not get the quest to activate. I took the bronze bed out, and Sunday afternoon I got it.

Finally!!!! I have obtained the quest and sent my Moogle out on his Picnic! Wahoo~

Took me 3 Tallies (almost 3 weeks) -_-;;
I'll sum up what happened to me all these frustrating days;
Before my first attempt,
1. I replaced my Bronze Bed with Mahogany on Wednesday.
2. I had level 4 Bastok fame ("A few people are talking about you...")
3. I forgot to log in when I'm supposed to get the quest, so I log on Monday morning, probably 10 hours after the Tally.
Moogle didn't give me the quest.

After that, I thought maybe the bed wasn't there long enough...so I kept talking to my Moogle everyday, still nothing. :(

On my 2nd attampt;
1. I didn't do anything to the bed, just letting it sit still.
2. During the week, I worked on my fame, bringing it up to level 5 ("Many people are talking about you....") maybe half a level towards level6. I thought 5 was enough because according to the quest info in this page, it says this quest requires fame 5.
3. I tried to have my character logged in, hanging around inside Bastok well before and during the time Tally was calculated.
Moogle didn't give me the quest after the Tally was done.

Meh!!! My fame was high enough to obtain me the Altana's Sorrow quest (Tele-Dem scroll) but my mog didn't think I worth it?

On my 3rd attempt;
I got a few advice from a friend on Titan (who started playing since the NA client wasn't even out yet) He said I may need to reset my quest attampt. He told me to
1. Remove my bed.
2. Put it in again on Sunday night at 21.50 real time (my time Zone is GMT+7) which is about 30 minutes before the Tally.

The reason he gave me was that all flags will be reset at 22.00 (my time)

So, I tried like what he said. But before Sunday, I also raised my fame to level 6 ("Most everyone in this country.....")
I talked to my Moogle during the Tally calculation (the result wasn't even completed yet) and I got the quest.

There are too many variables in my method to determine which was the correct thing that gained me the quest.... I had to do everything I could think of because I needed my 10 new slots badly. I didn't want to wait for 7 more days if only 1 thing wasn't enough.

But I think, just to make sure, try to get your fame to level 6 before the Tally.

The Verified Requirements for this Quest
# Aug 24 2004 at 9:03 PM Rating: Decent
Greetings!

As those who read my post in the first Mog Safe upgrade quest listing will know, I took 7 characters through the process to pin down the trigger point. The confusion surrounding these quests was simply too much for me to accept. So this is what I learned:

- Placement location of the bed does not matter

- Your home country's position in the Conquest System does NOT matter.

- You do NOT have to retain the bed after the quest is done.

-You CAN put an older bed back in if you like, after the quest is done, or no bed at all.

So what are the Requirements for this Quest?

They are:

(1) Fame of 8 (eight) or higher.
(2) Rank 3 (Three) or higher.

What you need to do:

(1) Place the required bed - in this case the Mahogany Bed - in the Mog House atleast Three days prior to the Sunday Tally (if you want the quest immediately after it).

Otherwise, place the bed BEFORE the Sunday Tally and get it three days later. The reason for this is that one of the conditions for the storyline of the quest is that your Moogle has slept three nights in the bed and is now lonely.

(2) Have the required fame and rank.

I did this with a number of configurations, including maximum fame, and it would not trigger until I had obtained Rank 3. Interestingly enough I did NOT have to reset the quest!

I placed the bed, and three weeks LATER, having obtained Rank 3, and then talking to the Moogle, I got the quest - that was what made me aware of the requirement and I have since verified it several times in different ways.

(3) Trade both items to the Moogle at the same time, view the cut scene, and then await his return.

For me the first quest took three hours, the second only 2, but I have heard others say it took longer. I was logged out for this time, and that may make a difference. YMMV.

(4) After the Moogle returns and gives you the upgrade, the quest is finished.

You may then do as you wish with the bed, subject of course to whether you used its storage slot.

So endeth the lesson.

At a later date I will add a list of the quests and missions completed for minimal access to the quest.

sorry, but some of your facts are inaccurate. you do NOT need fame level 8. i got the quest at 5. also, you do NOT need to be rank 3. i got it at 2.

Well, I doubt I'll have problems. Level seven Norg fame, an unknown *but high* level of khazam fame, full bastok and san'dorian fame *which translates to selbina fame*.

My only worry is that I'm working on rank four atm and my windurst fame is low.

Not sure what my jueno fame is... it was around level four before I maxed bastoken fame, maxed san'dorian fame, and did two gobbiebags...

Hmmm...

Hmm...did I just make a boo-boo?

After I received the quest today, I traded the moogle the items, and he went on his way. 8 hours later, still no return, and I took the bed out and sent it back to my friend whom I borrowed it from, will that impede on my completion of the quest?

The quest is still showing under the Outlands list of current quests..

The bed must stay in place until the quest is finished. You must not rent a room until the quest is finished. The Moogle will not simply announce that it is finished, you must target him like you did to start the quest.

The reason that the quest still appears in your list is that as far as the server is concerned, you have not met all the steps necessary to complete it.

Well that sucks..guess I'll be getting that bed back from him, do you think I'll be able to put it back in and complete the quest after another wait, or will I have to re-start it?

*edit*
Food for thought?

I just got back to bastok and talked to my moogle, guess what, quest complete! ^^

So apparently, you don't need to keep the bed once you've actually started the quest (and by that I mean, he tells you he's homesick, and you give him his items, and he leaves, at that point, I took the Mahogany bed out of my safe and sent it to my friend who lent it to me, he stopped saying he'd be back soon, and gave me the usual message, that's what worried me.

No worries now, I have 70 slots in my safe :D

Hi Lady Laurel, your explanation seems clearer and having more details than those of others.

I do think that yours is the most precise conclusion of what are the requirements. I have done the first Bronze Bed quest with no problem at all. At that time I:

1. Had lv3 or lv4 Bastok fame.
2. Was Rank 3.
3. Had done the flower girl quest already.
4. Put my bronze bed in on Thursday.

However, my second quest seemed to be problematic. Now I have:
1. Lv5 Bastok fame. (A lot of people.....)
2. Rank 3.
3. done the flower girl quest already, of course.
4. Put my Mahogany bed in on Wednesday.

My Mog wouldn't give the Mahogany quest for me, now it's been 2 full weeks. I believe that the requirements of the 2 mog quests should share something in common, however, fame or rank may differ slightly.

My question is, when you mean (1) Fame of 8 (eight) or higher., which level is that according to the Fame Checker?

I hope it doesn't mean lv8 Fame +_+

One last thing, when you say the story line is that mog sleeps in the Mahogany bed for 3 nights, does it mean that if I put the bed in more than 3 nights before the Tally, I won't get the quest? Or it's 3 nights minimum?

They do. The first quest basically is a gimme - the second and third have explicet requirements for fame and rank. Thank God they do not have any other requirements, as fame and rank *is* something we can easily take care of.

You haven't gotten the quest because you do not have enough fame.

Can I put the Mahagony Bed in,,, get my 10 xtra items spot,, then put the old bronze back in and then sell the Mahagony Bed. Or does it have to be the one higher than the Mahagony Bed. Because I noticed that you do need another bed in the romm to take the other out..

I believe exact placement of the bed matters. Plus you should have done the first expansion quest with a bronze bed before you can obtain this one.

Layout:Placement - Upper right corner of mog house.

After doing the 3rd Moogle Quest (Noble's Bed) I've realized. No your nation does not need to be in first place.
Your bed needs to be in the correct spot.
The quest will be given to you from moogle after the conquest tally update on Sundays.

As for how long the bed must be in the mog house before the quest is given, I was unable to determine. For all I know, you could put it in right before the tally and still get it. *shrugs*

I don't think it's placement as I had mine by the door on the left and have completed the first two mog house enhancements. I was told that your country needs to be in first or second place after the weekly update on Sunday for this quest to start after you have placed the bed. Also I heard that your country has to be in first before the last enhancement with the noble's bed will work.

Sadly, Bastok has been 3rd for over a month now. This is really irritating me. I've had the bed for over a month, lvl 7 bastok fame and still no quest. What's going on?

As soon as you get your extra 10 safe slots, you can resell your bed. This is a very good idea for the last 2 safe enhancements, as the beds cost ~50k and ~100k, respectively.

You do not need both beds in your safe at the same time, which really cuts the amount of gil you would lose quite significantly.

Once you spend the ~5k for the bronze bed, you can resell it the moment you get 60 slots. With that money, you can start saving for your mahogany Bed, and you have until the next Sunday to place it.

After you get 70 slots from the mahogany bed, you can resell it, and use that gil to save for the noble's bed, and have until the next Sunday again before you can do the third and final safe enhancement.

is there a certain amount of time the mahogany bed must be in my layout? cuz i put it in about 3 hours before the conquest update. i came back a while after update, didnt give me quest upon talking to him

i have lvl 6 fame in bastok. or could it be that i wasnt allowed to have the bronze bed in my layout at the same time?

anyone got any ideas why it didnt work?

and yes i already upgraded it to 60.

Just did this quest 5 minutes ago on Phoenix server. I have level 5 Bastok fame and was in Jeuno using a rent-a-room. I took the airship back to Bastok and checked out of the rent-a-room. As soon as I entered my Mog House and spoke to my Moogle, he gave me the quest. Bastok was ranked 3 after the tally. The Selbina butter cost 300 gil and the Shrimp Lure cost 4,900 gil. Waiting now for the extra slots. (^0^)~

It seems balance of power has nothing to do with the Moogle offering quest. You only need the Mahogany bed, rank 5 fame for your town, and the patience for the week's tally. Good luck!

Buy the Selbina Butter in Selbina and the Lure in Windurst Port or on Selbina-Mhuara ship. that way we don't have to pay more at AH
