Summary

Your moogle wants to take a Raptor mantle and a Wool hat to his friends in the Outlands. He sure would be happy if you found them for him.

Description

After sleeping on your Noble Bed, your Moogle once again gets homesick. This time it is for his friends. The moogle asks you if it can go with its friends on a trip overseas. If you do let him go, it asks for a "Raptor Mantle" (3300~4000 gil) for protection against the searing sun, and a "Wool Hat" (~14,000 gil)for the torrential rains. Bring these two items to it and then the moogle will be off for several game days. When it does come back, the moogle says they made you a new Mog Safe for your MogHouse making your total MogSafe limit to 80 items now.

Does anyone know if any of the new beds expand the Mog Safe anymore than just these? I can hold up to 80 items. I was just wondering if there was more. If you know, please leave a post. Thanks

.....everyone's problem with this quest.

I got it first time I tried to get it.

I don't have Hero Fame nor anything near it, I have high fame but it's not even close to Hero. My country was not in first but second when I did this quest.

I did however wait until 2 weeks after I did the previous one to attempt this one. And I placed the bed in the Layout and removed the Mahogany Bed, 1 day before the new week. And I did leave the area, and stayed away til the next day.

And suprise suprise, my Mog asked me for the items the very next day after the Japanese Midnight.

I am the new owner of 80 slots^^
My Experience with these quests
# Aug 13 2007 at 3:46 PM Rating: Decent
I think either there's some variable that everyone is missing here, or that this is simply THE MOST BUGGY QUEST IN THE GAME. Example:

With my Alt, when I did the Mahogany Bed, I put the bed in, got the quest a week later, gave him the items, and he went away. Months later, he still hadn't returned with the bigger safe. The moogle would still say "Master, I am using my telepathic abilities to communicate with you" or whatever they say when they're out for the bed quests. Around this time I quit playing for other reasons. Fast-forward a year later. They had just started letting you transfer between world servers, and I wanted to start playing again with all of my characters on one server, so I transferred this character. I arrive at my new world server, go into my mog house, and whalah, I don't get the ending cutscene, but my mog house now has 70 slots.

As for receiving the quest in the first place, I have had some characters get the quest next day, others wait 3 weeks, Some have low fame, some have high. There is no discernable rhyme or reason to getting these quests. Either that or they are still, to this day, ridiculously buggy. I'm working on the noble's bed quest with the aforementioned character and the mahogany bed with another. Have waited a week and a half. I will post if they get it at the same time.

It's possible that this is tied to an in-game global event, like some boss getting defeated, your nation amassing acertain AMOUNT of conquest points, rather than necessarily having to be in first(I know from experience that this is not the case).

My advice to anyone trying to do this quest: Just be patient.
This May Help!

I recently did this quest and have had the same problems as many of you.
I had Hero fame, put the noble's bed into my layout and did it all before conquest day. It still did not give me the quest even after a week! Finally, I got an answer that may solve your problems!

Do everything you were doing except make sure the mog house has fainted lightning energy. Lightning energy is what the Noble's Bed is and I decided to try it. Might as well right? Two days I logged back in and got the quest simple as that! My mogenhancement read: Experience but had a fainted lightning energy glow to the house.

If you're having problems, you may like to give this a try.
Special thanks to Seraph's TaruTaru Monget for the information/help at this.

I got this quest this morning(Sunday), after the conquest update. Went to get items. Came back, he won't take the items from me. And it does not show the quest in my current quests list. What did I do wrong? I have the correct items, Raptor Mantle and Wool Hat. And, I have not started any other quests or missions.

Edited, Oct 29th 2006 at 9:33am PST by Joesurr

It does show the quest in my current quests list, but it's listed under "Other areas" not in my Windy quests, which is where I'm from. I also have max fame in all areas and have tried the quest when Windy has been in all 1st and 2nd place.

Yeah...So I missed the tally and just got the Noble's Bed this morning about 2 hours after Japanese midnight. This means I have to wait an entire RL week before the quest is activated, right?

Issues
# May 28 2006 at 8:22 AM Rating: Decent
For those having issues, once the bed is in your MH prior to the conquest tally, you cannot have a rent-a-room out during the tally itself, or else it will not count as being done. ie. When there is one day left to the tally, go back to you home city and move your stuff from Jeuno to your home city.

Definitely wrong. I did this and the previous expansion in Jeuno. Got the CS there, traded the items there and got the closing CS there as well. Rent-a-Room has nothing to do with it

Not quite. I just did it. I put the bed in my MH on tuesday, had my rent-a-rooms set in jeuno and Aht Urhgan all week and never went back to my hometown, then went back on sunday after the tally, brought the moogle back to my Moghouse and got the cutscene. You definitely don't have to have your moogle in your home town MH during the conquest tally.

I had the bed in my room for 2 conquest update, I have fame 9 in San d'Oria and then after the 3rd conquest update I finally got the quest. And San d'Oria was in 3rd place. So I know for a fact that the nation doesn't have to be in first place because the week before that San d'Oria was in 2nd place. It's all about fame. How it works out though, I'm not really sure.

Your fame has to be level 7 before you can do this quest, it has everything to do with fame and it doesn't matter what rank you are or whether your country is 1st or 3rd.
Just wondering

I had Noble's bed in my Mog House and last sunday I got the quest. I traded Wool Hat and Raptor Mantle to the moogle and then he said he'd leave for few days. Somehow I thought it wouldnt matter and removed/sold the Nobles Bed BEFORE my moogle had returned from his trip.

About 3 game weeks has passed and I havent received the last mog safe upgrade. So, did I ruin this quest when I removed the bed before my moogle had returned? The quest is still on the "Current Quests" list.

our nation has to be ranked number one when you talk to your mog in your hometown to trigger this quest.

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH FAME!!

I'm from Sandy, yet actually have low Sandy fame... yet I put the bed in on saturday and on sunday I got the quest when sandy was in first.

Umm guy you are wrong you got lucky on a glitch or something cause fame and time are the only things that this quest needs well of course the items. And as for being first that has nothing to do with it.

So I'm Rank 5 in missions, fame level 5 in my hometown and I've been able to do the gobbiebag quests up through 4 so far so my fame is decent in most other nations but for some reason this last mh expansion is eluding me. Do I need to max out my fame? if so that is a fierce endevour. At the last update (yesterday) my nation was in second place. Anyone have any imput as to where I'm lacking on getting this out of the way?

Thanks

I have a problem, I got the 3rd Mog Quest, I traded him the Wool Hat (Not the Cap), and the Raptor Mantle. He took them and said the Thank you master thing.. I have waited an Earth Day and I got nothing.. He says nothing other than I have a Faint Water Glow. He wont upgrade me. and I am in my Home Residence. What is the Problem..

I myself do not belive that Fame, Rank, Nation rank, or anything that has to do with the time you put the bed in your house.

My theroy is that, it is the amount of times you use you HOME TOWNS mog house, not rent a rooms.

I Put the bed in the house and nothing. But over a few months I would occasionally use my nations MH.

Then BAM the moogle tells me about the quest. I was rank 3, Bastok was in last, My fame was only lvl 2, I put the bed in on a week day.

This is the only explanation I can come up with. So if you want to test my theroy, feel free.

One day when I come up with the 300k for a nobles bed, I will test it myself. But as I said feel free to test it.

Good luck.

Edit

P.s. Please post your findings. Im curious.

Fame DOES matter, and this quest can be affected by other quests.
Also note the quest WILL NOT start until the sunday Conquest update and you have high enough fame.
an example of a quest that will interfer is the cupboard quest (tea cup) from sandy, once fame is high enough the moogle will find a tea cup in the cupboard, This will also only happen if fame is high enough and after weekly conquest tally. If you have this flagged as well as a mog house upgrade quest you will only get one or the other.
ALso please note you must <t> and talk to your moogle to get the cutscene and once you trade the items to the moogle you will have to /wait and <t> and talk to him again to get the upgrade.
Moogle won't take items
# Oct 16 2005 at 5:26 PM Rating: Decent
I have the quest unlocked but it took a few days to obtain a raptor mantle. When I finally got the 2 items I tried to trade them into my moogle in Sandy and he would not take them. Any reasons why this would happen?

I recently got this quest.

I've had the noble's bed in my layout for months, but I sat round at fame 5 in my home nation for ages, not doing any quests. When I got tired of running out of space, I would do a quest, talk to the NPC to check my fame level, and continued this until it hit 6. (I should also note that this questing also led to me reaching fame 8 in Jeuno)

I'm Bastokan. We jump around in conquest placement, but we tend to be in last place. I'm not sure if it correlates, but I did get the previous quest during a particuarly good period for Bastok where we were in first place through two straight weeks (a miracle, I'm sure).

Friends on the same server haven't noticed any relation between conquest and this quest. They simply waited til they had level 6 fame, put the bed in layout, sat through tally, and voila.

I put my noble's bed in the MH around 40 Vanadiel days away from Conquest Tally. Had the quest activated and got the safe after giving him the items.

Note:
I have hero fame in Bastok and at the time Windy were 1st (owning nearly all of the world) and Sandy and Bastok were allied.

From my experience it's only fame that affects whether you get the quest or not. I've always had them work for me so it's never been an issue to me but if you're unsure you should look at the Fame FAQ's that can be found around the place.
Fame level for 3rd moghouse - fame 6

I just got the third moghouse expansion quest on my 2nd mule. His fame is as follows:

"[Name]! I would venture that much the kingdom has heard your name. And your reputation sparkles. Indeed I am proud of you. And to think I first knew you when you were a new recruit!"

As far as I know, this is fame level 6.
I have done ONLY repeatable quests with this character since I don't have time to go out and actually do all the quests in sandoria with every one of my characters.

Therefore:
Have the Noble's Bed in your moghouse EARLY on saturday (mine went in at 11 AM EST).

Have lots of money - them raptor mantles cost an arm and... they can be SOMEtimes be found at the AH (I've had a lot of trouble on my server) or bought in Sandoria from an NPC for around 28k.
could there be some hidden element as well?

I got my mule's fame to level 9 in windy, he's a tiny taru, from windy, only barely level 2 because I don't play him much, however, from repeating crawler calculi, cornettes, and bastore sardine (AGH!) quests, I was able to raise his fame to level 9 ("Sir/Lady [Name]! I am honored to have the hero of Windurst in my presence. Every man and woman in the country knows by heart the tales of your courage. May the Goddess shine her light of grace upon you.").

Some people appear to have gotten the Noble Bed expansion quest at level 8 fame, but for some reason, the greedy little moogle doesn't seem to want to give my poor, poor taru mule his moghouse expansion at one level higher.

Could there be some missing element?
I got the final moghouse expansion on my main character, but unfortunately, I was already level 9 fame in four cities (that I know of) at the time, and had done numerous quests.

According to what I've heard, fame is not the best measure of if you can get the bed quests or not. You need to count Unique Quests completed. If you just did a bunch of repeatable quests you probably won't get the mog safe quest.

actually, there's really only one measure of fame: what the NPC tells you. There IS only one kind of fame, that you receive from either repeating quests, or doing individual non-repeatable quests.

The reason I say this is, well, my moogle gave me the quest after all. After only doing 7 quests (one of which was the moghouse exits one.. not much of a quest there), and repeating enough Bastore Sardine and Cornette quests, I attained fame level 9. My moogle finally did give me the expansion quest. I suspect that I had simply placed the Noble's Bed a little too late in the day on saturday for the quest to activate.

Think of it though, imagine the kind of inormation this game would have to juggle if two people could have fame level 9 yet one had actually "less" fame than the other because he had done a different number of quests? I think that you are attributing a little too much computing power to this game.

Therefore, we can lay to rest the misconception that "fame is not the best measure of if you can get the bed quests or not. You need to count Unique Quests completed." Since I got the quest from doing only a couple of repeatable quests, this is obviously, patently false.

The only apparent requirement is that you have the requisite fame level, AND place your Noble's Bed in your moghouse long enough before the conquest update. I don't have any sort of official figure, but I guess I'd recommend at least 24 hours.

NOTE: this is obviously in conjunction with the other-where mentionned requirements that you not have a rent-a-room during that final period of time, that the bed be in your moghouse, in the lay-out, etc...

I too have had some problems with activating the Noble's Bed quest with one of my mules. Here is what I've done so far...

1. Millioncorn in Selbina over and over and over and over until max fame was achieved.

2. Level 13 with no subjob (just used for farming wind crystals if I got bored).

3. NO OTHER quests...

4. NO Missions.

5. Have had the Noble's Bed in my MH since Tuesday.

Now, I am unsure of the "multiple quests" bit, but what would it hurt? The player that said he did not believe doing multiple quests mattered actually DID a few unique quests. True, he/she did not do very many, but he has done more than I or the other person (sorry, I forget names) who could not activate this quest has. It would be very easy to do a few simple quests here (a member of Bastok, so flint stones, wild onions, and Zeruhn soot come to mind), so I'll do a few of those and report back my findings next weekend, as I assume I won't be able to get the quest until then.

Fame Requirements Debunked

I did the first two quests months ago. To this day, I only have 5 fame in my home nation. I did the first bed with 3 fame (a friend did it with 2) and the second with 5...
Therefore the requirements everyone seems to think are so, are debunked.
The fame requirements are much lower than what people will tell you, but I can assure you, there is a fame requirement, but a much smaller one than people insist on thinking.

I'm not doubting you but I waited patiently for almost a month with lvl 3 fame in Windy for the first mog safe quest... When I switched citizenship to Bastok where my fame was 5, I flagged the quest on the next tally...
and after doing a run of boyhada moss I got the second and the third on the following weekends.

I'd had that bed in my mog house for over a month and lvl 3 fame in Windy I know for over a month..
I still believe that lvl 5 fame is required for mog house upgrade 1.
Repeat and questions answered.
# Apr 21 2005 at 1:42 PM Rating: Decent
ok.. Everyone seems to be confused about this whole ordeal.

Your nation does not have to be no.1 in Conquest.
The bed only needs to be there sometime before the tally on Sunday. Saturday morning or afternoon is fine.

**NATION RANK IS NOT APPLICABLE, nor is your rank in that nation.**

All you need is the fame, and the bed for the according quest to activate it.
You need to be in your home town. Rent-a-rooms will not work for activating the quest.
To activate these quests:
Bronze bed (first upgrade)fame lvl needed is 5
Mahogany bed (second upgrade)fame lvl needed is 7
Noble bed (third upgrade)fame lvl needed is ???

If you need assistance finding your level of fame in your according city. look here:

The scenario I played out was this. I was having a hard time getting my fame up in Windy so while Bastok was in 3rd I swapped citizenship.
(Yes I will be getting a Bastokan ring soon as Bastok hits no. 1 again.) The reason I did this is because I already had lvl 5 fame in Bastok where I was still only lvl 3 fame in Windy. I have since then completed the all the mog house upgrades.
The first one popped for me the first Sunday after switching to Bastok.
The second one popped as soon as I achieved lvl 7 fame.
The third popped the next sunday after the second.

For those of you that might be curious
the cost for switching citizenship while the target nation is no.3 is 4k gil. So, until Bastok attains no.1 in conquest again I will be a Taru in the nation of Humes and Galkan.
When I switch back over to Windy after this is completed I will retain all my MH furnishings and Moogle safe. My Windurstian rank will be restored to what it was when I left.. I hope this answers everyone's questions.

edit: I finished the 3rd moogle quest with only 7 fame still?
I can't confirm this. I know it wasn't maxed.. 8 at the most.
just an update for those that might be interested.
On a sidenote.. Bastok hasn't hit no.1 since April. It's June now...
