Did this last night.

63BLM/WHM (Me)
64RDM/NIN
63PLD/WAR
63THF/NIN

Confirmed, just like AF1-1, you don't have to be SMN when you go into the fight. As listed above, I did it as 63BLM.

The fight itself is pretty cut and dry BCNM style. Sleep or Lullaby. Pick a target, beat it into a pulp. Wash, rinse, repeat.

They do have this nasty little Sleep AoE, but it wasn't too much trouble.

Did not touch the protocrystal after the fight, just to see if it was like AF1-1, and I was right. Didn't touch it, went straight to Windurst and talked to Koru Moru, and got the AF.

Even went there on Iceday, if that really makes any difference. I know it does for Shiva. Figuring since these things are playing around in Shiva's house, Iceday may have had beneficial effects on them. Can't really gauge as I've only fought them once, and whoope their rears.

how do you start it?

It's not Freppe, that's a typo. You're looking for Fuepepe. She is in the Aurastery in Windurt Waters.
Why is it always me?

Did this quest last night with another summoner and he brought along a few very nice helpers. Party setup was 72 PLD, 72 SAM, 71 MNK 59 DRK and 2 52 SMN. Had a few aggro problems running through Fei'Yin but it was nothing that we couldn't handle.

In the fight itself the other Summoner tried to use Carbuncle to pull but apparently SE made it so that you cant Carby pull these guys because once Carb died all six came tearing after him. The melees grabbed a few but most came after the two Summoners. So I got dropped. ;( But we did set a new server record of just over 3 minutes and I still got the cutscene even though I was dead.

Thank you Fokal for letting me tag along. And thanks to Vashs, Skywolf, Taden, and Orgnath for helping out.

Oh and after you are done it drops you off in a completely different area of Fei'Yin. We had no map so we had to ask a Japan Bard to show us the way out.

P.S. It was the 72 SAM who pulled aggro from one of the evil weapon type mobs near the Cloister of Frost so be sure and sneak EVERYONE to avoid any problems.

Pretty easy

I did this with a 51 Smn, 50 Smn, 53 Drk, 50 Sam, 52 Pld (me), and a 72 Blm. Me and the rest of the melees focused on 1 of them while the Blm slept the rest of them, and we took it out very fast...of course afterwards both Smns used their 2hrs and the Blm cast Firaga III and destroyed the last 5. But even without a high level Blm, as long as you sleep the extras and pick them off 1 at a time with melees, this is a very easy fight.
easiest setup
# Aug 02 2004 at 2:02 PM Rating: Decent
This is honestly the easiest quest as long as you have a good way of taking care of it.
I know some ppl use alliances to fight this battle, it is hardly necessary. You can do 1 of 2 things to complete this as fast as possible.
1) Bring yourself (lvl 50+ smn) and find a some help from a 70+ smn.
2) Find fellow smn's that need this, it only takes 3 astral flow blasts this way.

I have done both ways helping smn's, first time i set the record on Asura with a lvl 75 smn, second time i had a 51 smn, and 60 smn with me.

Oh and here a tip.... dont be afraid of fei'yin ...its not so bad =p
party setup
# Jul 27 2004 at 11:21 AM Rating: Decent
We did this a few days ago with the following setup:

60 PLD
60 DRK
60 SAM
60 BLM (me)
52 SMN

The battle was a ton of fun, but a pleasant challenge with no White Mage or Bard. I used Elemental Seal --> Sleepga which held fairly well, although not as long as I had hoped >_<. Partway through the battle our SMN 2-houred with Garuda, and then it was easy to finish off the remaining saplings.

I did this last night. Party setup was

50Smn 46Whm 50Brd 70Thf 50War 49War

All died except the Thf who really almost soloed the whole thing anyways. 50 Brd is too low to sleep, it was our BCNM bard with monster signa and mary's horn and she still could not sleep them at lv 50. As for the instruction corrections after you defeat the battle you get a cutscene then you go back to windurst, you do not need to get a key item by touching the protocrystal again its would be stupid because you are no booted out of the battle back tot he crystal its a different area with no crystal. I died twice trying to go back and touchthe crystal because I did not realize that Golems were sight aggro then I got low health aggro from a Ghost type mob. I finaly decided to risk it and go back to windy without touching the crystal and I now have my spats.

Hope This Helps!

Not really, RDM AF2 quest is a joke and a half. All you basically do is buy some cloth, trade for a key item, get a key, open a chest, find a ???, then wait a day, end of quest. And yes, the key is a chest key, not a coffer, and it's stupidly easy to get since half of FFXI people level in the Crawler's Nest. :)
Quest name?

Don't be a smart ***. This game is still relatively new and they are trying to get as much info on here as they can, not to mention all the other games they host. It can be hard to keep up.

Don't waste your energy .. the mistakes with Tarutaru gender is just .. out of hand. It's easy to tell what the gender is, but no one seems to care. ~_~
