Your innate limits can be pushed further by collecting the crests of the Orcs, the Quadav, and the Yagudo.

Walkthrough

Orc Crest

=== NOTE: You will need Invisibility for this entire section

- Travel to Davoi, once in Davoi, go to the Zone entrance of Monastic Caverns at H-11

- Zone back to Davoi at the SW corner of I-8. At this point you will be in the house area at the center of the Davoi map.

- Head East across the bridge and then north onto the top of the fort at J-8 to a Tarutaru.

At this point, one person will need to do the mini-quest to get the Crimson Orb at this point to proceed farther. Speak to the Tarutaru to receive the quest. You must touch the Banishing Gate in Davoi before the Taru will give you the mini-quest.

The mini-quest basically tells you to go to the 4 red pools in Davoi. The pools are located at the NW corner of H-10, the NE corner of L-9, NW corner of E-8, and the last one which is not displayed on the map by yellow is found by following the river at H-6 north and to the east. WARNING: When you dip the orb into the 4th pool it curses you, so plan accordingly. Return to the Tarutaru with the Orb to receive the Crimson Orb.

- At this point proceed to the Banishing Wall at the SW corner of J-9 and have the person with the Orb open the gate by clicking on it. This will open a hole in the wall which anyone can walk through. WARNING: This room is populated so if you are doing this alone, make sure all the orcs are looking away when you drop invisibility to use the orb. The zoneline is only a few feet past the wall so if you do get aggro you can run for it.

- Once you've zoned over to Monastic, it's located just after you cross into J-6 on a ledge to the left.

-- Quadav Crest

=== NOTE: You will need Sneak only for this entire section. You also need to be doing, or have completed the Rank 5 Magicite mission to be able to complete this part.

Helpful information: - Mute machines silence you - Afflictor machines curse you - A silenced person can't be cursed by the afflictor - Echo drops remove silence

~~~ - Head to Beadeaux
- Once inside, follow the Tunnel down at H-7 (1st map), then proceed to the tunnel up at F-8 (2nd map).
- Once up top again, hug the right wall to the ramp at E-10 (1st map), then take one of the ramps in the northeastern half of this map at either (K-7) or (J-7) to get back to the lower level. Once there, take the tunnel down at section K-6 (1st map).
- Once below again, follow the path to M-8 (2nd map) and then zone over into Qulun Dome.
- The crest is located on the borderline of I-6/7. In the first room is most likely an NM, so make sure he's wandering away from the door before you try to run through this room. In the 2nd room, all the NM's are generally at the far north side of the room.
Yagudo Crest
=== NOTE: You will only need Invisibility for this entire section, please don't step near the leeches.
Important information:
  • It is imperative that you start this quest at the very beginning of a new game day as the passwords will change every day. (more on that below)
    • This section can not be completed by a single person unless you have some sort of movement enhancement (flee, strider boots, Ninja AF boots
etc..)
- Head to Castle Oztroja
- For the first part you will need to find out what the password of the day is, which requires collecting the information from 3 brass statues.
- Head to the SE corner of H-8 and open the brass door. Click on the statue inside to receive the 1st password.
- Now head to the door at I-8 and then go up the stairs to the 2nd map (Remember the 2nd map as I'll be referencing it later). On this map, head to the exit at G-7 and zone over onto the next map. On the next map head north to I-7 and zone over to yet another map. Now head to the SE corner of H-9 and open the brass door and receive the 2nd password from the statue. (Note: If you've done the paladin AF2 quest, this is the exact same spot you were sent to fish)
- Proceed back along the same path to the 2nd map. (The one I told you to remember) The 3rd statue is located on the NW corner of I-8. If you've never experienced this section of the map before there are blocker points preventing most of the "obvious" paths and forcing you to walk around the outside.
Now that you have visited 3 statues, you should have 3 passwords. The ones I collected from multiple visits are Mong, Deggi, Duzu, Mjuu, Ouzi, Xicu, Ovzi, Buxu, Haqa, Gadu, Puqu, Duxo, Zhuu. You may receive other ones but write those 5 down in case the day flips over and you have to "guess" later on in the quest.
At this point you can actually go get the crest.
- From the 3rd statue point head west to the 4 lever door at the SW corner of G-8. To be honest I have no clue what the correct sequence of levers is, but I found that if I randomly flip them it generally opens the door. Once through the door, head up the stairs and zone over (G-9) onto a new map.
- The next map is pretty straightforward, just remain invis and don't step on the Yagudo Parasites (leeches), and proceed to the next map at H-11.
- You want to proceed through the Brass door at H-7 from here. In order to do that you must have someone light one of the 4 torches.
- There are torches at G-7, G-8, H-7, and H-8 in each of the small rooms. From my experience they all do the same thing, which once lit opens the brass door at H-7. This is where you need the 2nd person. One person lights the torch, the 2nd person goes inside (The door can be opened from inside). The Yagudo in the torch rooms operate on sight only so if you wait patiently for them to face the walls you can drop invis, light the torch, and re-invis. You can do this part solo with flee.
- Once through the door, there will be a wooden plank with a red circle (trap door) in front of a Brass Statue. Have everyone stand on the plank and have click on the statue and input the passwords (Order doesn't matter). The trap door will open and everyone will fall through to the bottom. Don't worry about invis, the bottom of the trap door is safe. Be sure to put it back up afterwards however.
Note: If you've taken too long and a day has passed, the passwords may have changed. Try a few of the 5 I provided in addition to your own and hopefully you can get through. If not, enjoy visiting the statues again.
- Once everyone has dropped down through the trap door, you will see a long corridor leading to a large room with a series of ramps up to a center platform. The ??? to get the Yagudo crest is located on the central platform. At this point you'll need to keep a lookout for the Yagudo NM (Generally the High Priest).
- Wait for the Yagudo NM to be sufficiently far away from the center platform, then travel up the ramps to the center platform, standing "behind" any regular Yagudo which may be on that platform, drop invis, click the ??? and re-invis.
- If you are in a large group, I highly suggest you send people up one at a time so that if they get aggro, they can run to the base of the ramp and die in a suitable fashion and not kill everyone, but still be within tractor range.
Once you have all 3 crests return and speak to Maat to raise your level limit.
Just a Heads up, to Activate / Open the Barrier, make sure nothing is hitting you, otherwise, you will be unable to open the Barrier, and get pummeled to high hell.
The Active interface is Similar to a BCNM Fight, were you Elect to enter the fight, being hit, will prevent you from picking an Option.
Not all that hard.
Did this quest without too many problems. Beadeaux was easy and I onyl needed about 4 silent oils. Davoi was wierd because I didn't have a map even though I was sure I had one, I used a map from the internet so this was probably my slowest one. Instead of using prism powders I just subbed nin and used tonko, much easier. For castle Oztroja I got the 3 passwords quickly, flipped the levers until I was right, and then dranka hermes quencher activated the torch and sprinted through the door. I got a bit of agro from an assasin as I was activating my insta warp, but fortunately the high priest kep its back turned.
I solo'd this as a 59 Nin/Whm got very lucky with the doors being opened with high lvlers. Got to the last door one with all the VT-IT mobs to lvl me, it opened I input the password but some poor Drk was standing alongside me and he dropped down as well ;;.
Not sure if he was going after g3 or coffer hunting, but I felt like sh.t :\
I just finished doing this quest and found out that the trap under the first door can be avoided(the one with the trap door below that sends you to the basement on this quest and I belive one of the rank quests), I personally did it. I stood in the center of the path to the door way right on the trap and as I turned a lever I ran forward. BAM! The trap door opens but I'm hugging the door, to tell you the truth this even suprised me that it worked. I waited for the trap to reset then pulled the other lever and went on my way.
I did die twice during this quest, once in Davio and once in the Castle (this one was because I foolishly tried to light a torch solo, got an agro, and trained then died) lucky for me I was a few feet away from a level 75 RDM who then raised me. We then helped each other out in getting to the last area (TY Runemine!!!)
Word to the wise for people who are doing this part of the quest solo. Have flee or bring a second person with you. You will not get the torch lit and get to the door in time. You will prolly die when you drop invis at level 60. I just got lucky a high level person was trying to get into the room too.
OK, it is difficult, but you do NOT need to have flee or any other speed enhancer to make the door.
The first key is to hit one of the two upper torches. Imagine the room looks like this:
T1 D T2
T3 Ex T4
Hit torch1 or torch2 because they are closer to the door. Not by more than a couple steps, but every step counts.
The second (and most important) key is to use a prism powder and not the Invisible spell. The powder takes about 1-2 seconds less to use then Invisible, plus you can run sooner after it casts. These few seconds are the key. Make a macro that uses [ /item "Prism Powder" <me> ]. Hit the torch and turn and run a bit to avoid the aggro, stop and hit your macro quickly. Then start running while it's casting. You won't be able to move, but as soon as you can, you'll be off and running.
The third key is to hit the torch as far south as you can while still being able to reach it. Usually this is at the bottom of the little ramp. I think some people see an opportunity to hit a torch but might be in a corner or something. Be patient and wait for them to move to the back. This will give you an extra 5-10 steps advantage.
Using all this I made it through the door with a few steps to spare. I tried about 10 times using Invisible spells and got extremely close, but it seems Prism Powders are the way to go.
What I did not know, because it doesnt say in the initial guide thing, is that you cant get out of the ??? room without a warp or something. Well you can but you need to kill the yags there to drop keys to open the brass door, but they are all VT and if you solo or go with a friend, make sure you have a way out. Me and my Drg buddy found out the hard way. ><
So, I decide to get my lb3 done, lvl 58Pld/25whm (whm sub for sneak/invis) but was bored. Anyway, I died once getting my orc crest, no prob with quadav crest. But in Castle O, there lay the challenge. I got lost a bit, had no map (lol), but got by with no problems, until I got to the door before the password room, (have to light 4 torches). It's said you need another person, speed enhancing items, or a lot of luck to get by it, I had none. I bit my lip and tried to do it anyway, thinking, it can't be that tough.....I was totally wrong, tried lighting torches about 5 times, dropping invis and re-casting when necessary. Everytime I ran to the door, it would close in my face, showing me only a glimpse of the room I had to get to.... I kept telling my ls how frustrating this was. They're suggestions? Get a re-raise scroll, touch torch, get past room and if I die, use the scroll to get back up. I was too stubborn to leave and come back just to die and get lost again. After about 2-3 hours of waiting for someone to maybe help, with the exception of three gilsellers camping O-kote Nm and friend who was doing rng af, I was alone. I got pushed to try something risky. I went to touch a torch, dropped invis, but instead of re-casting, I ran towards the door, trying to avoid mobs, but focusing more on getting to door ASAP. I aggrod one on my way to the door, passed it, used Invincible, and disconnected myself. Yes, I unplugged my own ethernet cable, but I didn't really care. I waited a few minutes, put the cable back in, and came back. I looked, there I was, still standing, mob was gone. My hp? 345/ 1053. I was completely shocked my half-assed plan worked!! After I told my ls, who congratulated me on my gutsiness, I input the passwords listed on a previous post and dropped down after maybe 5-6 tries. Ran up to the ??? with invisible, High Priest as in way, ls egged me on, "Don't let him stop you!!!"So I waited for High Priest to leave, kept patient for another yag to turn around, dropped invis, touched ??? got my crest, and warped out. All in all, took me a while to complete lb3, for you plds out there on your way to do this, you just gotta think and time it..... And slap Maat about 10-20 times for the trouble, like I did. :P (Oh and sorry for the long post :D )
In the last room of Castle Oztroja where you have to enter the passwords, here is how you can do it so save yourself a lot of time.
Normally you'd have to go all around the castle and waste a lit of time finding the statues that have the passwords on them, but here is a list of all the possible passwords and you MUST properly capitalize the words when typing them in.
Domi
Puqu
Gadu
Deggi
Mjuu
Xalmo
Haqa
Mong
Ouzi
Duzu
Buxu
Quu
Misu
Xicu
Ovzi
Duxo
Zhuu
If you enter one in without looking at the statue that gives the password and the statue that you inter the password into says its incorrect, dont worry, you're just using the password on a day that its not being used.
For example if you type in "Domi" and it says its incorrect, then that means that today the password is a different word since the passwords reset every day at 0:00.
If you check the statue and it says its making a weird humming sound or whatever, then just keep trying to check it. I have heard that if someone has the statue selected in the target window then someone else cant check it, but I haven't proved this yet.
Enter the passwords one at a time and if you get one right, you can move onto the next one. If you get it wrong you may have to wait a little while before entering one again, but keep trying to check it.
Print out or write down my list and then check off all the words you have entered that are incorrect so you dont get confused and accedentally enter the same word again.
If at any time the clock changes to 0:00 you have to start over your list from the first word since it will reset and one of the words you have entered may now be a correct password on this new day.
When all 3 passwords have been entered sucessfully, the wooden floor infront of the statue will collapse and everyone standing on it will fall down. Make sure that everyone in your party is standing on it before you enter the last password.
Cast Invisible on everyone and run upto the ??? on the top of the stone structure thingy and examine it, but be CAREFUL because the Yagudo High Preist is standing there and hes a very high level HNM with true sight, meaning he can look through your stealth.
If you get aggro by this guy, have the tank provoke it and the healer keep him alive until everyone has checked the ??? and got the crest. Then have the rdm chainspell and escape or the blm escape or the whm teleport out. Its too dangerous to warp 2 everyone one at a time here.
Congratulaions! You've finished getting the yagudo crest!
I actually had a lot of fun with this despite dying twice. =P
Just in case this wasn't said yet, for each area where theres the ???, there are TWO true-sight NM's. Not one but TWO. I didn't know this >.>;
Orchish Warlord and Hex-Spinner for Davoi
Two High Priests for Castle Oztroja
Adaman and Ruby Quadav for Beadeaux.
Good luck all
I agree with everyone else those passwords take what might just very well be the hardest most time consuming part of this quest and make it so much easier. I, too got screwed up on the Davoi touch the Banishing gate first thing. But I solod it as a pld/war without dying. So if you are a pld, all you have to do is drop invis at the gate, touch the gate, invincible and instant warp. then go back to the taru and he will give you the quest, get the orb, and drop invis at the gate and open it and either invinc or just run for it, the zone isnt that far and you might get aggro from 1 or 2 orcs only. or you could just have someone open the gate for you, which is what I wish i had done... I hope this is helpful at all
Finally...
I did this last night as a 56BLM/28WHM and it was a piece of cake. These instructions were perfect. Total time: 4 hours (and this includes doing the Davoi mini-quest)
In Beadeaux, just remember to bring silent oils. They are faster than sneak and you can use them if you are silenced. Wait for the NM quadavs to move to the opposite side of the room and you have a clear shot. I used a total of 2 silent oils for this.
Davoi was next. The mini-quest took me about 30 minutes to do all the running around. One bottle of Holy Water and about 4 or so Prism Powders did the trick here. Remember that the last pool curses you, so do the one either up the river or on the far east side so you don't have to worry about aggro. I got aggroed once after I opened the gate, but every other time I had to drop Invis, the macroed prism powder did the trick.
The castle is by far the hardest to do. The yags that stand by the 4 levers were still conning EP to me, so I had a 62 Rng in my LS to come and help out. While waiting for him to show up, a lvl 74 party came through and opened the gate. So I rush in and wait for my friend to show up and open the gate for him. We have no problems getting to the gate, but I got all mixed up as to where I needed to stand as I was following him. He lit the torch and managed to make it to the gate, but couldn't get through before it closed. The second time I was by the gate, he opened it and got aggro. Unfortunately he got knocked out right as he reached the gate, so I tractored him and gave him raise. At this point, I would like to say thanks to the list of passwords as it took only about 5 minutes (if that) to get all three. Shoot down and find out that of course the High Priest is waiting. We wait for weakness to wear, invis up and run up the ramp. After dropping invis to get the crest, an assassin aggros me. So the RNG gets the aggro off of me and links the other standing there while I cast escape. POOF - we are out and LB3 is complete with only one death.
Oztroja is definitely able to be done solo, but it is much easier if you have help. And it is definitely better to force feed the passwords. One death only and that was my fault for not standing next to the gate in the first place. But otherwise, it isn't as hard as it sounds.
THANKS HYAMI! I OWE YOU 2-3 ECO-WARRIORS TO MAKE UP FOR THE LOSS OF XP ^.~
Ok finished this up today solo thanx to a few high levels in Davoi. The directions are esy to follow, thanks to them i never got lost or had any problems. THe Orc Crest was quick and easy, cuz a party was near the the banishing wall and one of them let me through. Walked to the crest and warped out. The Quady Crest was just as easy, two things to remember:one keep silence on you so the Cursemakers have no effect, and two make sure the NM is on the left side of the room in the Dome just befor the crest. Walked up and got the crest and warped out no problem. THe Yag Crest was just as easy, the only trouble i had was the darn four lever wall. Randomly flipping them took me awhile, i thought it was gone take me all day and the passwords would change. In hindsight it was me just being impatient though. I used the Powder Boots once i lit the last torch and booked to the door. THe High Priest Yag was waiting on me, so i hung out in the shade till he walked to an "offramp" on the side of the alter-thingy. Grabbed my last crest and warped to prob. I honestly dont know why people shout for help or die so often on this, im not even a mage and i solo'd without incident as 60war/30nin
Woo. I just completed this (sort of) on my own by amazing luck.
I went to Davoi. Got to the banishing wall to start the mini-quest only to find it open as another party was going through. Got the Orc Crest.
I went to Beadeaux. Got to the Dome and prepared to dodge the Ruby Quadav. Zoned in to find it dead at my feet. Got the Quadav Crest.
I went to Oztroja. Got to the brass door. Found a couple of level 75s fighting things by the door. One of them opened it for me. Went through the password bit. Found the High Priest had wandered off to the right where there was a party fighting. Got the Yagudo Crest.
Total elapsed time well under three hours. I had no fights at all.
SCORE!
This was awesome, so many people were telling me that I was going to die.
Davoi I got there and got lucky, I didn't even havev to do the orb (Ran into a whm and nin who touched the gate for me)
Beaudeux was fairly easy, I solo'd this one too and once again got lucky. There was a group of people who were pulling them, and happened to pull, well, them all! (Oops) But the Ruby Qudav was so far away anyway I could have got my Crest and warped out without a problem. I got it and helped heal, everyone survived (phew), and warped out.
The Castle was OK too, I had to go buy a map (LOL I wish I had that map for my AF for the love of . . .) Getting the passwords were actually kind of fun, this was the one everyone said I would die for sure on. I got up to the door (Thought I had to flee so I brought those lvl 38 Powder Boots with me lol) This party of 75's were there and I asked for help and they just ??? me, lol. So I'm like whatever, I go and activate my boots, touch the torch, cast invis and haul my ***** I did get clapping from the 75's, I don't know if they thought I was just going to sit there and whine??? LOL. Anyway Castle O was the easiest I think (So easy to cast Invis over and over)
I don't think I could have solo'd with my actual RNG job (Went as my RDM, yay refresh and sneak and invis) So I can see why people are reluctant to solo this.
I can't wait til 70cap. I'm going to grind Ma'at into dust when I get my hands on him. It was a nice day trip though, with purpose ^^
Davoi...
Ok, 3 of the times were not directly related to this quest, they just happened when I was in the process. WHMs help people and get killed 50% of the time in the process...
What I recommend if you are the one that is going to be getting the orb, and you happen to be a paper WHM:
By the Taru, cast aquaveil, stoneskin, blink and invisible. Go up to the banishing gate and start to cast Escape. As soon as casting is started drop Invis and touch the gate. You should get it and still have a couple seconds before Escape takes you. It seems no matter what you do, the Orcs turn your direction when you drop invis! Even on the quick escape out method I got hit 4-5 times before making it out. Shadow, Shadow, 0, 60 and 1 were the hits, but it let me go. Those Orcs hit really fast. When I came back with the orb it went a little better. Shadow, Shadow, 0 and then I was in Monastic.
If you go with someone that already has an orb though, this is the easiest part of GK3! No danger at all.
I lost half my party to the Yagudo High Priest too.
All in all I went from 800/18800 to 13500/17600 on this stupid quest. Nothing like watching a piece of gear drop off you as you collapse. =( I should get my level back tonight and put my Healers Mitts back on.
i recently activated the genkai 3 quest a few days ago. i'm currently level 58 but don't plan on doing it until level 60, but i was wondering....
do i have to get the crests in any particular order? i was thinking about doing the oztroja part first since i have heard it is the hardest and i want to get this one over with and done.
also, i know the high priest is true sight as well as the NM orc in davoi but could someone let me know which other mobs are as well so i can avoid them?
RE: Question
# May 11 2005 at 2:03 PM Rating: Decent
I think you can do these in any order. I've just completed G3 with my 58 blm and can be soloed with a little luck.
In Davoi I was annoyed to find that I could still get aggro at some of the pools, but Ele Seal + sleepga was enough to do the job & escape out. I'd already wandered around up top for my coffer key so knew where I was going.
Directions for Beadeaux were pretty good and I had no trouble getting through (with some help from medicines). I got myself a little lost in the Castle though, but that was more my fault than the directions. I had some luck with the door as it was being camped. Thanks for the list of passwords, came in very handy! The High Priest was being fought & was nowhere near the spot. Just waited for 1 mob to look away, dropped invis, did my thing and warped to safety!
You don't need Flee
# May 07 2005 at 1:11 PM Rating: Decent
FYI--you do not need Flee or a movement enhancer to get through the brass door in Castle Oz to get the Yagudo crest as stated here; that part is incorrect.
I just now did it and simply ran back to the door after lighting the torch.
All of the other parts of the guide were right, although a little confusing.
Good luck everyone!
Yes you do! I do at least. I've tried it 3 times now...every time I drop invis to light the torch my heart beats like crazy. The door closes right before I get to it.
You got lucky I guess. Everyone else, I wouldn't try it.
Got 9 powders left...maybe someone will rescue me tomorrow. Hopefully I'm still invisible when I log back on :P
thanks
I had a group of friends come with me to try and do this mission and curiosity got the better of us... The Orcish Warlord left 3 of the 5 of us lying dead, me(thf) and our whm motored when we saw the other three members of our party die. Lesson learned... don't poke the Orcish Warlord, he just might poke back.
Hey guys!
Not done with this yet, but I felt like adding (since I didn't see it posted here, maybe I missed it) that while you need to be 56 to activate this quest, you can actually go after the crests with a lower level job. I know losing xp on a high 20's job hurts a lot less than on my 60 mnk ^^; Died 4 times doing davoi lol
